  1. I would bet money that they're adding in a new weather condition called 'Dark Moon' or 'Night' or something. But anyways, yay, new Pokemon! I always love Pokemon, it's such a fun game series and always manages to make it feel at least somewhat fresh.
  2. GEN 7 BABY It's been 3 years since Gen 6, the same amount of time in between Gens 5 and 6. Or we're getting X&Y 2. Either or! Also, is it just me, or do the Sun&Moon symbols look a lot like the symbols for FEF Conquest and Birthright? Probably just me. I think Pokemon Day and Night sounds cooler though, mostly because we're now going to have to abbreviate it Pokemon S/M and I dunno how to feel about that.
  3. I know, i'm loving Conquest too! I'm honestly having such a blast; there is so much to do, My Castle is fun, and i'm digging the story. Corrin's really cool too! How far are you on Conquest? I'm at Chapter 14 and I did the paralogues for Azura, Laslow, and Harold's (this paralogue was hilarious because it was basically pit from kid icarus tries to get bandits to kill captain america) children. Soleil too cute please nerf. If you didn't get to Chapter 10 and 13 of Conquest, you've got a big storm coming (especially 10, that was such a hard and fun chapter).
  4. @, Heyo! I've kinda been caught up with a few things lately, that's why this is late. These few things start with 'Fire' and end with 'Fates'.
  5. Final Fantasy VII As much as I love this game, please get me off of Gaia. I really don't want to live in a world where the government/corporation manipulating the government is ridiculously corrupt, a mad scientist is kidnapping people and turning them into nightmarish horrors, cannons are being shot at magical super weapons (this cannon is on top of a city by the way), thousands of people died because of said corrupt government (sector 7), the planet is being drained dry of it's energy, and terrorist explosions are happening throughout the planet at a rapid pace. Gaia in VII has gone to shit and since I don't have magical fighting powers, get me off this planet please.
  6. @@Steel Accord, oh baby it's anime and a movie, thanks, you're a godsend The second one actually sounds really interesting, if I have some time off i'll definitely watch that. Same with the first; I can probably find the first one easier because of the wide array of anime sites. And it doesn't look too long. Or nevermind, because the first selection I got when searching the 'Seven Samurai' was a 3 hour long youtube video that has the whole movie. Looks like I have something to do after I get some stuff out of the way. Looks to be a very interesting watch, if the google images of the main character say anything.
  7. @@Steel Accord, I never actually knew the whole historical aspect about the samurai; I know most about them from their depictions in media and fictional stories, so I screwed up their history a lot! I do see them in a far more positive light now, the history actually sounds quite interesting, the whole 'policing after the civil war idea' sounds quite intriguing in particular. I really should pick up a book that goes more in depth about it! Thanks for making me interested now, Accord. If I become a nerd about samurai, i'm blaming you. I was speaking about samurai from the viewpoint I've seen them mostly depicted as; the honor-bound, fierce warrior. I'm certain that real samurai have a diverse collection of personalities, but in modern media and fiction samurai generally have very similar personalities that are based around the concept of honor. Media doesn't really portray samurai in a diverse light; though I may be wrong about this, I've only played a handful of games that have samurai, a few books that had characters based around them, and a handful of movies that had samurai in them. Most, if not all of the samurai that I have seen in those media were the honor-based, strong warrior willing to give up their lives for their cause. I have never seen a cowardly samurai, one that has a flippant or rebellious personality, or a really energetic and peppy samurai. Though I could clearly be looking in the wrong places; in fact, if you have any examples of samurai in media who are different than the honor-based one that is commonly portrayed in, well, media, I'd love it if you could share it with me! Your last sentence pretty much is a summary of what I was trying to get across in relation to knights and samurai (who are separate from the media). There is a diverse lineup of different, distinct knights, and plenty of unique concepts, stories, and ideas surrounding them because of the wide lineup that spans many cultures. However, the samurai is, as you said, uniquely Japanese, so it has less variety in concepts and there are fewer distinct ideas regarding the samurai. Samurai are really cool, don't get me wrong, knights just have a far more original range of ideas surrounding them, at least from my view! I'm also heavily biased towards character cliches/concepts commonly found in medieval times or the fantasy genre, so... ...gosh, who knew I'd put so much effort into a debate between samurai and knight? @, Knighturai actually a really cool idea! I'd pay to see that actually happen.
  8. aka nohr vs hoshido I love knights; the whole cliche of them riding on horses, slashing swords and lances to slay great beasts has been one of my favorite, well, cliches for ages. I just think that there are so many directions to take knights as a whole, so many different badass weapons to apply to them, so many different personalities, and they all have different beasts to slay. With samurais, I don't feel like there is as much variety or creativity; they always use a specific type of sword, the katana, that may have some different properties but is ultimately the same, and most samurais have a copy and pasted 'honor above all things' personality. With knights, at least, there is more room for creativity. I've never heard of a samurai that deals with magic or axes or lances along with swordfighting, but I can name plenty of knights that have used magic, axes, lances, etc in conjunction with swordplay. Some don't even use swordplay at all. Knights of the Round is also one of my favorite Final Fantasy summons (Phoenix a best though), and Monty Python and the Holy Grail is my favorite movie... wow, I never realized just how much I love knights until this thread! This topic feels fairly unfair to me; samurai is a pretty specific term that follows a very limited and predictable formula, while knight is a very broad term that, while having a cliche formula, has been deconstructed and innovated plenty of times. There's a single, honor-bound samurai that comes to mind, but there are so many different types of knights, such as the classic knight, magical knight, lance knight, bow knight, hell, in some stories knights don't even go on horses. Some ride dragons, pegasi (thanks for making me biased fire emblem) ... I could go on. However, i'm dealing with knights and samurai in folktales and fiction, so if this topic was about real-life knights and samurai, I apologize! I still like knights better though; I've always loved european culture and history far more than eastern culture and history. I am also a medieval nerd, so that's another point for the knights' side.
  9. Bernie Sanders is a politician who is running for president of the United States, and I personally really like him. He's very popular with the younger age, mostly because of his views on many things; he pushes very hard to support the middle class and generally does not like how the government is treating the upper class, he's very into the economic end of the United States and how to fix things regarding the economy, he wants to push down student debt, raise the minimum wage, getting rid of tuition by taxing the rich, etc. According to wikipedia he also is a strong supporter of LGBT rights (pardon if i'm getting this wrong, but he marched with MLK), stopping global warming, reducing the amount of people in prison via criminal justice reform, cracking down on police brutality, and also he is in favor of welcoming Syrian refugees. Note that I am getting most specific info from wikipedia. One of the main, most major things he believes in though is to improve the middle class and cut down on the higher class by improving the economy. Although he is easily very likable, plenty don't like him because he's very outspoken and emotional about his views, and also can be very stubborn when trying to change them. He also has more than a few controversial viewpoints which can make people not like him; namely his stance on the economy, middle class and his opinion on police brutality. Basically he's a very popular democratic candidate who I personally really like; he's certainly miles better than Hillary and Trump in my opinion. The current status of the presidential debate is Hillary vs Trump vs Sanders tbh

    movies/tv Gravity Falls is over

I'm not glad to see Gravity Falls over, but it ended on a very high note. It's best to end a cartoon than have it run itself into the ground. A short, but amazing series is more fondly remembered than a series that was long, yet dragged itself on and on and on and on before dying. So I think it was a very good decision to have Gravity Falls end here; the finale was also a very fun and fulfilling episode. Although, I will agree, a short mini-series or a few silly clips to give an epilogue of some sorts would be a very fun idea to do that might tie up some loose ends. I'd also like to know what Dipper's real name is... Well, onto new and grander things! I'm excited to see the next show Hirsch comes up with; i'm positive it'll be just as spectacular as Gravity Falls was.
  11. Thanks for sinking me ship on Valentines Day, Rooster Teeth!

  12. @@Lightwing, wtf lightwing is hacking marth amiibos into his house again In sort of seriousness, Sorry Lighty, you'll probably get Fates soon i'm sure. Water waifu is close! Or whoever you waifu/husbando/whatever. Remember kids, Leo, Takumi, Camilla, Hinoka, Azura, rhajat and Xander are top tier husbandos and waifus! Not Ryoma though, he's a lobster and not elise or sakura because that's weird. I've heard it has plenty of flaws, such as a few poor characters, writing, and levels, but it's overall going to be a very fun game to play. And besides, from what I've heard, the good far outweighs the bad.
  13. @, Thanks! I try to have a slightly different art style from everybody else so it looks at least somewhat distinct.

  16. I don't have any mental disorders far as I know. But some family members suspect I have ADHD or a form of it because I literally cannot stand still, have a short attention span, and sometimes I just pace/run around the entire house for 10 minutes because I have so much energy. Not sure if that counts as a mental illness, but whatever! I'm also pretty darn weird, I guess. And I have godawful self esteem.
  17. NOA RELEASE DATE: Feb. 19th NOA REVELATIONS RELEASE DATE: Mar. 10th EU RELEASE DATE: TBA takumi, rhajet and azura are the best This is a non-official general thread for the 14th entry in the Fire Emblem franchise; Fire Emblem Fates! Fire Emblem Fates is the story of young Corrin, a half-dragon half-human prince(ss). (S)he has grown up in the gloomy, war-hungry country of Nohr, but it's discovered that they were born in the neighboring, peace-loving Hoshido. When Hoshido and Nohr get into a conflict, Corrin is forced to choose in between the two! If you get the Conquest version, Corrin sides with Nohr, and you work to stop the corrupt Nohr from within. If you get the Birthright version, Corrin sides with Hoshido, and fights off the invading Nohr. However, on March 10th in NOA (or Feb. 19th if you got the SE), the DLC route Revelations is available. In this route, Corrin chooses neither side, and works to stop an invisible force that seems to be pulling the strings. If you are unaware, Fire Emblem is a tactical roleplaying game similar to chess, where you move your army around a map in order to take out enemies using magic, dragons, swords, etc. Units are the people who make up your army that you order around. Units can be spellcasters, dragon riders, humans that can turn into dragons, pegasus riders, swordmasters, thieves, and just about anything in between! If you enjoy chess, tactics, or anything similar, you should look into Fire Emblem! Fire Emblem Awakening, a good game for people looking for a good starting point for Fire Emblem, can be bought on the 3DS. Fates is on the 3DS as well. Other Fire Emblem games can be found on a variety of consoles, from the GBA to normal DS to Wii (Note: the wii games are usually very expensive). Also, no, Marth and Ike are not in this game if you do not have an amiibo. Roy is not in this game at all. Sorry, smashers! DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE VERSIONS (no spoilers) Birthright Conquest Revelations
  18. I've never experienced VR, so i'm fairly skeptical that it'll work or will take off, but if it does work, god i'm hyped. If what OP said is any indication, maybe it's one of those things that you have to experience to get on board with.

@@Celestial Sloth, Great taste in villains, Viral is awesome. I recommend Gurren Lagann too; it starts off slow, but after the 8th or 9th episode it becomes impossible to put down. I really loved it, it's probably my favorite anime and one of the most newbie-friendly (well, after ones like FMA and Attack on Titan). Seconding, by Episode 3 Madoka becomes a lot better and goes into very adult and mature topics. You should at least give this one a try.
