Don't be, man. Things got better for my siblings and me and we got on in life, mostly. I hit rock bottom between ages 18 and 20 but I picked up the pieces, stopped hating myself, and started to want better for myself. I know what it's like, though. It felt like forever by the time my brother and I were finally big enough to keep our father from hitting our mother.

With the way I grew up, drug abuse and hitting women/children are about as bad as rape and murder to me. I can't stand it. I do believe in spanking still. Punishment is necessary. But there's a fine line and parents have to know where to draw it and how not to cross it.
