^Title Generally I'd say forum posts and such count (I guess) but one's history of posting or social media doesn't amount to much of a cohesive storyline. That is, unless you can really read between the lines. Fan fiction also counts. The way I see it, "If you write, you're a writer." None of this "you gotta make money" gatekeeping malarky. If you do write stuff, what have you written? What are you most proud of? Anything you want to share?

Have you ever taken a souvenir from somewhere?
I used to be a stranger replied to Reecejackox's topic in General Discussion
If I could fit the Pacific Ocean in my pocket, I think I would put in my pocket just to see what would happen. Then I'd put it back. -
web Should 4chan and KiwiFarms be banned?
I used to be a stranger replied to OG CHUCK's topic in Media Discussion
if there was a way to ban a website from existing, it would be done. That control would also be abused. Of course the right thing to do would be to simply {not exist} all the bad websites where child porn and KKK webrings are, and all the host facilities for scammers and so on. But then about 0.2 seconds later, large companies would use the same tool to destroy websites that host content in a way that denies them money, and foreign governments would do the same to obfuscate information that's politically inconvenient. -
general Do Any Of You Invest?
I used to be a stranger replied to Denim&Venöm's topic in General Discussion
Money's a bit... allocated, I'll say, within my family at the moment. However I intend on getting into investment when I'm more liquid again. I have plenty of advice coming from my dad. -

What is the worst thing you have ever tasted.
I used to be a stranger replied to Grim Mortis's topic in General Discussion
When I worked for a coatings company working on a parkling lot, I once accidentally got a droplet of xylene in my mouth. It tasted spicy garbage. Like literally the smell of rank garbage, in your mouth, plus habanero fire. Which kind of makes sense. It is a reactive compound and not good for you at all. -
What Are Your Thoughts on Steampunk?
I used to be a stranger replied to Essence's topic in General Discussion
Is steampunk confined to external combustion? Because if we're just concerned with water-based pressure cycles, technically Air-Independent Powerplants qualify, as do Sterling engines. And that means some kinds of modern submarines are "Steampunk". Really though, I think there is a lot of elegance in purely mechanical solutions to technical problems, and that is the purer heart of what steampunk yearns for. -
general Do you understand Military Time?
I used to be a stranger replied to The Wife of Law's topic in General Discussion
Not only do I prefer the 24hr clock, I also use UTC for all my timezo I prefer ISO 8601 Date Format, since it makes so much sense. Largest to smallest, and when sorting alphanumerically, it automatically sorts into date as well: YYYY-MM-DD. -

movies/tv Avatar: TLA - Iroh vs Ozai - Who would win?
I used to be a stranger replied to TotallyNotNyx's topic in Media Discussion
I'm quite confident that Iroh could hand Ozai's ass to him on a silver platter. However he doesn't because it wouldn't be right for honor or succession. He explicitly states this at some point, if I recall: if it was brother against brother, it would just be more infighting within the Fire Nation. -
Went for a walk with my brother around trout lake. Did some grocery shopping. Watched The Help with my wife, to learn some more about the black struggle. Made tortillas Wrote on my novel. 2/3 done, 40.2k words. Cringed at my old fan fictions. Backed up my hard drives.

How many friends do you have
I used to be a stranger replied to Best Username Ever's topic in General Discussion
That becomes a very interesting question if you consider "have had in your life". I'm nearly 30 and have lived in more than 10 different places, so I'd say my groupings of people I could call friends is actually surprisingly large. I'm going to check my diary and do some estimation... 40-50 in person 15-20 online Of these, I'd say I've had 4 in-person Best Friends and 3 online Best Friends. -
general History of internet culture
I used to be a stranger replied to I used to be a stranger's topic in General Discussion
I don't mean to imply there's anything bad about contemporary meme culture (circa 2020), I'm merely remarking how similar albeit different it is now compared to then. -

God bless the fine tradition of celebrating the name of the pickle merchant Amerigo Vespucci. Sincerely, a person from a country named after the word for "Village". -

Young people trying to obscure their references from old people made me think of the fact that meme culture has not fundamentally changed very much in 20 years. And the day will come when you and I will probably talk about it with our children and grandchildren. It's still making puns and jokes based on captioned images posted on forums, imageboards and chats, referencing specific topics in specific people groupings. Which makes me realize the day is coming when someone somehow is going to be cataloging these collections of experiences and telling them to modern people for reference and knowledge. A museum, if you will. Or else, we'll be doing it in person with our succeeding generations. How do you feel about that? When I was a child, the internet was some kind of network where you could go to HomestarRunner.com and wait 5 minutes to wait for a 3min Shockwave-Flash animated cartoon to load and play, on dialup internet that tied the home phoneline. Now, I can have an intelligent conversation about this or what a handshake is with a teenager who was born after Youtube was created. My opinion is that that is completely mindblowing: I thought the cultural phenomena I experienced as a teenager were unique and that no one else would ever feel the way I do. But now I see it's not so radical, and that's a good thing.

I just read "Rainbow Factory" and "Pegasus Device"
I used to be a stranger replied to TB9000's topic in Sugarcube Corner
I never read either of them, but Rainbow Factory (being first) I think was seminal in both the broadening of brony relevance and what sort of subject matter was considered valid for fan interpretation. I wouldn't know if that subject broadening helped in the creation of something I presently like, but I do recall I greatly objected to the fact that it existed and that other people would enjoy it. -

One of the main points covered within Tolkien's work regarding the Ring was that no one was immune to the Ring. Even the most resilient characters did or would have succumbed to its influence: Frodo did. Aragorn never actually touched the ring but knew rationally what damage he would create if he ever touched the ring. Faramir didn't either and knew less, but had a much purer heart and mind than his brother. The two characters with the greatest resilience were Galadriel and Samwise Gamgee. Galadriel is one of the greater ancient beings in Middle Earth, and said herself that her not taking the Ring was greatest test of her life. Samwise was such a simple and honest hobbit counterbalanced coincidentally with the effect Frodo was already suffering ensured that the was kept away from him quite soon in his exposure. It's also a subject of discussion in the books, what to do with the ring given that anyone (except Tom Bombadil) would eventually succumb to its evil once they held it for long enough. Likewise, I don't think any characters in My Little Pony would be immune to the effects of the Ring. The main intrigue therefore is consideration of what happens if/when one of them becomes the Ringbearer; why and how. That all said, let's look at the facts: 1. The Ring can change size, apparent weight, and comfortableness at will, to be most appealing to those around it. 2. Twilight is not always the most cautious when it comes to unexplored magics. 3. Rarity likes shiny things. 4. Applejack is often too gung-ho about things to consider their magical implications. 5. Rainbow Dash's enthusiasm can leave her sense wanting, sometimes. 6. Pinkie Pie loves new things. 7. Fluttershy has alternative sides to her. I would choose Fluttershy to be Ringbearer, probably only due to her characteristics that make her most analogous to Sam or Frodo. Change my mind.

What's your least favorite thing that you have to do
I used to be a stranger replied to Yumekai's topic in General Discussion
Cooking and baking are both lovely experiences, except for chopping vegetables, manually whisking eggs+sugar until fluffy, and cleaning the dishes. If only there were some kinds of apparatuses that could save that labor...
