  1. Well, going with the list early in the topic; 30 year old - Nope, I'm 23 fat - Perhaps a little overweight. Not so far as to say fat though. virgin - Nope with no social life - I have a very good social life thanks. I have a good group of friends, I go out socially at least a couple of times a week, and I'm usually chatting to one friend or another in some way. who lives with their parents - Nope, I'm living on my own, and entirely self sufficient who will never have a girlfriend - Don't have one now, but I have had, and I'm sure I will again. Besides, girls dig the ponies! are hyper obsessed - I can obsess over my hobbies sometimes, but then most people do. Whether its football, soap operas, fifty shades of grey or something else, everyone has their obsessions. creepy - Sometimes, but only for ironic or humorous effect. clop to the ponies - No, not that it's anyone's business but mine. Anyone who gets annoyed at cloppers needs to grow up anyway. They're not hurting anybody. So I'm not really conforming to the stereotypes, huh?
  2. Kanto: Squirtle Johto: Cyndaquil Hoenn: Mudkip Sinnoh: Chimchar and because weegeez is a bad influence Unova: Snivy
  3. How would I react? I have no idea. None at all. I suspect I'd spend my time trying to calm down/comfort people though. If I'd been in the second tower hit. Well, after the first was hit, I'd be out of there, and trying to see if there was anything that could be done to help get people out. I hate to not be doing anything in these situations. In regards to making jokes about tragedies. It's some people's coping mechanism, and I appreciate and respect that. But you have to have tact in where and how you do it.
  4. I could write such a huge list here. I won't, I'll just write a few. Must restrain myself... Shawshank Redemption, Pulp fiction, Watership Down, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones (the first three), Star Wars (the first three), Scott Pilgrim, Singin' in the Rain, My Fair Lady, Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Hot Fuzz, Airplane!, Groundhog Day, Ghostbusters, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Bigger than intended, but smaller than it could be ^^;
  5. Assuming in this situation I'm still human, otherwise not much problem: Hey [person who entered the room] magical intelligent ponies have come to earth. I figure this is either a weird dream, or the start of a hopefully peaceful coexistence with another intelligent race. Either way, I'm getting in on the ground floor here. She tastes like skittles!
  6. The moon at night. The smell of rain. The time between waking up and having to get out of bed. The feeling you get when you're one of the only people in the room to get an obscure joke or reference. When you trust everything to luck, and it works out. The sound of dice being rolled.
  7. Just tell them? I mean, it's a show you watch, what's the big deal? In what way might you tell someone you watch CSI? Or How I Met Your Mother? Tell them that way. I told two people I know just today. Nobody cared, one of them actually knew who Rainbow Dash was, which was cool. The only reason not everybody I know is aware I'm a brony is because it doesn't necessarily come up in conversation. It's a little weird to just blurt it out for no reason. So yeah, I fall firmly on the side that it's really a non-issue. Of course, other people may be in different situations, so that may not apply. But if the people you know are generally open minded or tolerant, they won't care.
  8. Have a minor freak out. Head to Ponyville, and talk to Twilight. She'd be able to contact Celestia, hopefully we could figure out what was going on. Then plan my moves from there. I'd not be adverse to staying, but I'd at least like to be able to get some sort of contact with the real world, so as to explain to my friends and family what's happened. Honestly, that's what I'd do whether I was human or pony.
  9. If I was still human? Well, I'd be weirded out by the fact a supposedly fictional character just kissed me. There would be all sorts of questions. If I was a pony? I'd probably return it, and see where things go from there.
  10. Be a pony in Equestria? Yeah, I'd be on it like a car bonnet. It's an idyllic life, very little conflict, no poverty so far as I can tell. Incredible natural beauty. None of the grinding day by day erosion of any sense of self, any spark of happiness, any sense of wonder that we all too often find in the real world. So yeah, sign me up.
  11. When my younger brother was 2, he was diagnosed with cancer, thankfully, after a year or so of hospitalisation, he pulled through. There were a lot of sad moments while he was in there, up to being told he was going to die. Not might die, was going to. That he survived was nothing short of astronomical odds. But the saddest thing I saw didn't involve him. Technically, I suppose I didn't see it either. It was just the sound from another room, when this couple, who's son had the same type of cancer as my brother, and was only 3 years old, their son died. I've never, ever, heard anything like the wail of pure grief I heard his mother make. It was the most anguished, sorrowful sound I've ever heard. Ten years later, and I can still hear it if I think about it. Also, this is a super depressing topic huh? <__<;
  12. Oh my, that was very well done. I definitely laughed aloud a few times. Which is rare for me to do when I'm alone. You sir, are made of win. Win and delicious hotsauce.
  13. I collect all sorts of random trinkets and figures, especially related to stuff I like. So to me it's just an extension of that. I like collecting things because it makes my rooms more interesting to look at, shows my taste in stuff off, and I like the thrill of hunting down various things. I almost never buy stuff online, because finding them in real life is part of the thrill. Of course, I've broken that rule a few times, if it was something I really wanted, and the likelihood of my finding it in real life was pretty much nil. Which is why I'm glad the Asda near me has finally started stocking MLP figures! I grabbed the four-pack of Twilight, Rarity, Pinkie and Rainbow Dash, and a couple of blind bags which turned out to be glow-in-the-dark Twilight and Sprinkle Stripe. Who I'd never heard of, but sounds delicious.
  14. Ahhh MST3K. I don't know that I can pick a favourite. Though I will second Manos as a classic. I like all the cast combinations, but yeah, early days are the best. Ladies and gentlemen... Manos; the Hands of Fate.
  15. It was nice to see them have people representing the Brony community who were actually representative of it, rather than some fringe case nutjobs like sometimes get picked for the shock value. It was also nice to see it discussed with respect, and without derision.
  16. I don't really see how it's controversial, but I really enjoyed that song, so thanks for posting it up, because I doubt I'd have found it otherwise!
  17. I've taken to listening to podcasts lately, and was wondering if there are any podcasts that you guys listen to, and would recommend. I'll get the ball rolling with my personal favourites: Major Spoilers/Critical Hit/Top Five These three are lumped together because they're all run by the same site, and feature the same hosts (with a couple of extra in Critical Hit). Major Spoilers is a podcast about comic book news and reviews, and has led to me reading a lot of stuff I might not otherwise have found, as well as helped me with last year's christmas shopping. Critical Hit is an actual play D&D podcast, and is not only an interesting story with a great DM, but inspired me to start a regular game up with some friends. Top Five is exactly what it sounds like; a show in which the hosts give their top five in the episode's chosen topic. What makes these three shows great is the hosts, they're knowledgable about the subjects, have a good presence and personality behind the mic, and are usually pretty funny to boot. I recommend giving any of these three shows a look over at Major Spoilers. Filmsack Join Scott Johnson (of Extra Life fame), and his fellow hosts Brian Ibbott, Brian Dunaway, and Randy Jordan as they mine the very depths of film entertainment. Each week, they pick a film (usually from Netflix, though as the UK lineup to Netflix is different from the US one, it doesn't make a difference to me) and watch it, they then discuss it at depth, often going off on random tangents. The podcast is great for film fans, and it's obvious that the hosts are all film buffs, but it's also a funny show with lively and enjoyable hosts. Check it out here. The Nerdist This podcast, hosted by Chris Hardwick, is generally based on interviews with various celebrities, nerd icons, and interesting people. Interview might be the wrong word though, as they feel more like a conversation, and often wander off in odd directions. Worth a listen due to a great lineup of guests, and some really interesting stories (such as the time Penn Jillette, of Penn and Teller fame, once wrestled a naked midget in a pool of corn starch). Find it here! Talking Toons Talking Toons is hosted by Rob Paulsen, voice of Pinky, Yakko, two of the Ninja Turtles, and a whole host of other characters. It focuses on interviews with his friends in the voice acting industry, and has had some really interesting and funny guests. The behind the scenes stuff is fascinating, the guests are interesting, and since they're all his friends, the tone of the show is very relaxed. Check it out over at Rob's site. So those are my recommendations, what about you guys? Do you listen to podcasts? If so, which ones?
  18. What's messed up about that? I don't see how that sort of thing is a problem. I can see why someone might not want to do it themselves, but I don't see it as being messed up if someone wants to do it.
  19. I collect figures. All sorts of figures, though mostly video-game. I prefer the solid statuesque ones to the posable ones, though I have both. I also have an assortment of little knick-knacks. Here's one lot of my figures, mostly Final Fantasy stuff, though there's also two ponies, a Zelda pin-badge, a shark's tooth, a cat shaped eraser, a pokemon, an arrowhead, some small badges, a lego Harry Potter, a rubber ducky, a pencil and two postcards there. I have other stuff scattered around the house too, but that's the bulk of it. I also have a decent collection of Dungeons and Dragons miniatures too, but those aren't at my house, they're at my friend's, since his is where we do our weekly D&D sessions.
  20. My favourite foods are pizza and macaroni cheese. In terms of sweet stuff, I really enjoy rum and raisin flavour ice-cream. This topic has made me hungry D:
  21. Hahaha! *Reproduces at you aggressively* Okay, but seriously speaking? No, not at all. I'm not really intimidated by it on any forum, admittedly. That stupid better than you elitism it sometimes engenders is certainly annoying, but not intimidating. Here, there's none of that, and I never feel it's stratified at all, everyone just chats and is cool about it. I like the badges because it's always nice to have that little milestone on the horizon, but I don't feel they really mean anything.
  22. I've been in that bad place. It was other things that pulled me out of it, but I can appreciate how it really takes a changed outlook on life, and that the show gave you that and saved your life, in a very literal sense, is nothing short of amazing. Stories like this are why I don't give a crap about the haters, about media misrepresentation, about any negative aspects of the fandom. All of that is meaningless crap in comparison to something as wholly positive as this story. Every single bit of negative crap that gets hurled at the show or the community joined together doesn't have even 0.1% of the meaning that a story like this has. Thanks for sharing your story with us, and I hope that the community, the show, and most importantly your life continue to bring you happiness.
  23. I've not really played before, but I did recently pick up the latest MtG videogame on XBLA. I'm enjoying so far, so who knows, maybe in the future?
  24. It's tough to choose, and my answer will change depending what mood I'm in. But I'm gonna go with "Read it and Weep". Partially because I love Daring Do, partially for having some really fun scenes, and doing something a little different, and partially for Rainbow Dash having some massive adorkable moments. On a related note, I'm still waiting to see someone write an erotic fic starring Daring Do, and name it ""Fifty Shades of Grey" xD
  25. Well, if it goes anything like my Nuzlocke runs tend to, that's not an unlikely scenario xD
