Being new isn't all that bad. Not bad at all, really. At least on MLPF it isn't bad. Some places on the internet aren't friendly to nubs at all... People are very welcoming here.

Just find you some threads you're interested in, and go for it. It's pretty easy to rack up posts here, since the forums are so active.

And personally, I'm not here for recognition. I'm here for the awesome community. Since, well... this place has an awesome community.
