Well I guess stryker beat me to it. :V Funny story, I once went into a smoke shop to buy a bag of chips because I thought it was a liquor store. They like had this HUGE Bob Marley bong. It was like the length if my arm, it had a picture of him on it, and it was colored green, red, and yellow. Okay so like yea, stoner death metal. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only kid at school who doesn't smoke :/

It's annoying enough when someone dismisses and whole broad genre, but even more so when they dismiss an entire region. In the metal community it seems to be "cool" to only like European bands, and I think it's just flat out asinine. Especially when Europe has a bunch of crappy power metal and symphonic metal bands. Now don't get me wrong, there's plenty of bands from Europe that I enjoy on a regular basis, I just needed to get something that's been iterating me out of my system. I'm getting really sick of being called a "hipster" for liking anything underground. Do you expect me to listen to the radio? When people misuse the term "emo". I'm a fan of emo, proper emo. So when I hear someone label a band like Escape the Fate or My Chemical Romance "emo", I get my panties in a bunch. Playing an instrument ain't easy, and neither is making good electronic music. People who say "music just isn't what it used to be" really irritate me, especially in real life. The whole "people who listen to classical music are really smart" is a load garbage. I find that people who listen to a wide variety of music are smarter than average.

I think SS are extremely boring, ughh. But yea, DT is a good starter band. When I started listening to metal, I started off with Children of Bodom and At the Gates. I actually didn't listen to Dark Tranquillity and In Flames until much later.
