As some of you may know, there is a new Doom around the corner, coming May 13.

This weekend they gave everyone free access to the open beta for Doom's Multiplayer mode. Me being the nostalgic gamer that I am was wishing that the multiplayer would tie into the classic arena style multiplayer of which we've seen in Quake.

The harsh reality that I was actually met with did not appeal to me at all.
XP progression system only holding 2 weapons at a time not to mention the Season pass being forced down our throats almost seeming as a necessity

these factors, although they might seem normal to todays gaming tropes. upset me on so many levels.

I know I sound like an old man when I say this but. back in my day, skill wasn't measured by level, it was measured on how much you knew the map and where all the good pickups were. you could hold one of every weapon in the game at once and use them whenever and of course there was no map/weapon DLC

I just hope that the singleplayer/co-op can redeem this beautiful monstrosity

It's finally coming, the Payday 2 heist to beat them all. breaking out Old Hoxton from the can
(Warning this trailer can get violent and Old Hox has quite a mouth on him)

I tell you, trying to get this game in Australia is like trying to sneak a Jewish person out of Berlin in 1939. the game is so banned, you can even get arrested for importing it! Manhunt is a third-person stealth/slasher developed by Rockstar in 2003.

Gameplay- Being a stealth game, you are expected to hide a lot, be thankful for obvious dark spots and stupid AI that you can easily hide until they have their backs turned. this gives you the chance to sneak behind them and...brutally execute them, hey, theres a reason why it was banned. there are certain parts where you have to be loud using a gun, but the majority is either plastic bagging or shanking your targets

Graphics- the graphics, believe it or not are actually pretty good, especially for a game 11 years old. the shapes are well rounded and the textures are almost HD

Story- you play the role of James Earl Cash, a deathrow inmate that was given a second chance only if he participated in some psychopathic director's snuff film, placing you deep in gang controlled territories and demanding you make it brutal for the cameras

so I just found out that the nice people at RWS have a very special present headed our way
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkP3WiWDDr0
I myself have loved Postal 2 for a few years now, the best way to help vent my anger. considering that this game came out in 2003 and the fact that 11 years later, its STILL active by the developers at RWS...or maybe its because they felt bad because Postal 3 sucked

I went down to my train station today, to go into the city. I noticed these card scanner posts for this 'opal' card at first I thought what the hell is that? I did some looking up and realized how bad its going to make the public transport system.

what the card is is pretty much an electronic card that you load funds onto to electronically pay for your trip, whether on bus or train. while you might be thinking 'that sounds good' believe me, I was hit by the same scam when I went to Melbourne with they're friggin' Myki cards. it also means that buses and trains will no-longer accept fares upfront making the chance of last-minute transport needs impossible, because you need to plan to use a bus or train now. they also have a minimum amount of money you can put on them (7 days worth) it'll be cheaper just driving everywhere from now on.

for some reason I seem to be the only one who thinks this system is bad

Starbound, developed by Chucklefish is an indie side-scroller adventure game based in space and multiple planets. Many people state that Starbound is just a Terraria remake, they are mistaken on that matter. This game is still in Early Access beta.

Gameplay: Starbound focuses on survival as a main aspect of the game, you need to find food and eat before starving to death and during the night time it gets cold enough to freeze to death. it also doesn't help that the planets can contain some nasty and deadly monsters. these monsters (I'm sure) are randomly generated as their appearance and attacks can be different, there are also passive/aggressive monsters that won't attack you unless you attack them. building is still an option in this game, as you need to build shelter from the harsh elements the planet contains. the planets are also randomly generated as sometimes dungeons and NPC towns can be discovered

Graphics: no less or more than what I would expect for an indie game, the pixels are there, but who cares, its not a AAA release

Story: there is not much of a story behind Starbound, however, depending on the race you choose your character the backstory may vary. I chose Human as my race, my home planet has been destroyed, I may be the only one who got out alive, until my ship broke down in the middle of space

Multiplayer: I've only played the multiplayer for Starbound once with a friend, the sync seems to be great so far, so there are no missing animations when my friend does something, its also fun to explore planets with friends and uncover some dungeons together

all in all, Starbound is a game with great potential, I can't wait to see what the full release will be like once it's out of Beta. I recommend it

as you may or may not have known, I went down to Melbourne for Ponycon AU this year!
I have to say, this year it was a lot bigger than last years, even though the venue was a little smaller. with special guests; Andrea Libman (pinkie pie and fluttershy) and Peter New (big macintosh)!

I got my guidebook signed by Andrea Libman, I would have got it signed by Peter New as well, but I ran out of time

as for the loot I managed to get:

    A fluttershy plushie
    fluttershy pendant
a couple of sparkle cola bottlecaps given to me from a littlepip cosplayer
a flutterbat poster (which I now realize looks slightly suggestive)
two mixed CDs from some known and unknown brony artists

as an Australian, we don't get those fancy TV channels like the Hub so our chances of watching ponies on TV are pretty much nil. however today, this morning around 8:30, I was flicking through channels and crossed over channel 11 and saw the program guide "My Little Pony". I instantly assumed that it was going to be G3 or under. to my surprise it was FIM It's About Time. now I have something to wake up to of a morning

I'm in the middle of nostalgia here, The Trap Door, a small cartoon I used to watch up until I was about 5 years old. I only just remembered it today. heres an example of some of the episodes

some of you might remember it, some might not. this was a big mark on my childhood

just a couple weeks ago, as you know, I went to Italy. of course, I had to catch a plane to get over there. I flew on an Emirates airline which had its own on-board entertainment system. I was sat next to some random guy who decided to watch Twilight on his screen, I wasnt going to put up with that for the whole flight. so I searched the TV show list and to my relief MLP: FIM was there. I put an episode on and started to watch it, the guy next to me saw it, turned off his screen, got up and sat elsewhere. I thought that was the most hilarious thing I ever done :3

I was playing Killing floor, a long game on hard in the map KF-Bedlam

my team and I managed to work out a rhythm of playing. we all enter the courtyard, upstairs, there a 4 points of entry, though one entry was weldable. we have a support specialist on the door, keeping it welded. and then we have any other class fending off the other ZEDs, I was the team medic, healing the guys whenever they needed it.

the plan seemed to work for the entire 10 rounds, and then came the Patriarch round. we set up a mass amount pipebomb traps and waited for him to come to us to set off the bombs. we thought we covered the entire hallway and then what happens? the bastard walks AROUND all the pipebombs without setting one off and then fires a single rocket and kills us all in one shot.

please help this country's freedom when it comes to video games, sign this petition to get the OFLC to stop this idiotic censorship of Saints Row 4 in Australia

Easter eggs, we all know them in games to be little secrets that you find here and there. After playing Ratchet and Clank 3 on my PS2 earlier today I realised; theres a level named Insomniac Museum. which is practically a developer hall. it is always closed , UNLESS the time on your console is set to 1-3AM, once it is set the Museum will be open to explore, the whole easter egg in general was a clever Idea! someone who has trouble sleeping is an Insomniac, which means you'd probably up as late as 1-3AM. as well as the company that made the game is Insomniac Inc. put 2 and 2 together and your mind will be BLOWN!

just like the title says, don't buy it. I bought the Flatout pack on steam while it was cheap, I wanted the pack for Flatout 1, 2, and Ultimate Carnage. I had a look at 3, I thought to at least give it a chance, I had 2 races before I thought 'this does NOT live up to its name Chaos and Destruction' there is no more vehicular damage, the game is buggy as all hell, controls are awful and the graphics make me want to dust off my PS2 and play it on that. for a game made in 2011 it has worse graphics than Flatout 1 for chrissakes. there is also a zombies mode that looks like it was just slapped on there because 'all the cool games are doing it'. if you're looking at buying it anytime soon, buy one of the earlier Flatout games, this has to be the biggest flop I've seen. -rant over

when your country waits over 20 years for an R 18+ rating for games, you would think that the games would be more for adults. however, it has come to my attention that Saints Row IV is being refused classification by the OFLC in Australia. when asked about why they did this they replied with
"This game has far too many drug and sexual references to expose to the public"
seriously, you guys didn't look over Saints Row: the Third, did you? the game had a damn punchline 'Strap it on' on the back of their case! However, I'm getting off the point, Australia has an R rating, intended for Adults Only. it seems the OFLC think of Australian adults as children and don't want to show these things in a video game. look outside, turn on the news, that stuff happens 10 times every day! seriously OFLC, grow up!
