I don't know what it was technically. All I know it's just that it stopped everyone in the area in thier tracks so whatever it was called I was curious why it wasn't used there. I guess given the situation they couldn't think rationally enough to think of that and they just went with the big Apple Applejack had since it was the only trump card at the moment.

Well Twilight has used magic plenty of times on Spike and it still affected him. I don't think dragons are resistant to magic with that fact. Remember when he was a baby and Twilight made him grow very big?

Okay I can see what your getting at, but Twilight can concentrate her time pause magic to who it can effect. If I can remember correctly Spike wasn't effected was he? I'm going to assume for now she can basically control who she's effecting with her magic. Not to mention she has other non lethal spells she could've used to trap her long enough for the others to think. I dunno I kind of thought something could've been done. And Fluttershy can be OP at times

Hmmm Well you got me on Rarity but we've yet to see the limit ofher magic. She could be stronger than we think. As for Twilight she could've eventually caught Flutterbat with trail and error (as for concentrating on Flutterbat she did stay in the same spot for a, few seconds) Twilight knows a variety of spells so she could use a lot of nonlethal ones in Flutterbat. Rainbow Dash can fly faster than Fluttershy and yeah if Fluttershy is enraged she can fly faster than Rainbow but Fluttershy wasn't enraged here. Just crazy with bloodlust.

Hmmm I guess so. It just felt wierd for all the mane 4 to just flock to one side. I guess for the sake of the plot but it must've had to be done but end the end it just makes Fluttershy's case look superior towards Applejack's (which I guess was the case anyway)

Hmmm I dunno. I figured she learned her lesson the moment she realized Fluttershy's transformation. As she did say "I want my friend back" She felt bad enough at that point so I think she learned her lesson there

To think that Twilight is an alicorn you'd think that she'd be able to stop Flutterbat with basic magic or her time stop spell from Castle Mania. Then the rest of the mane 6 could've tied her down. If you think about it Rainbow Dash is faster than her so she could've done something and even Rarity could've done the same stopped her with telekinesis as well. I'm simply pointing out that the sacrifice of the giant apple was a bit contrived and unnecessary since the mane 6 had the talent to stop her themselves. Hey I love this episode and I love Flutterbat but this episode had a pretty lackluster ending.

To all you guys saying that Fluttershy is the expert in animals. That didn't mean that everyone should just flock to her side. Retrospectively Applejack knew a lot about farming so really the two fields crossed/intersected here so maybe the mane 4 should've stayed neutral. Just in my opinion.

Well hey to her those bats look cute. Maybe that's just how she sees the world lol. In anycase it was a good contrast to her point in her song.

No im pretty sure its not like that. I kind of just thought it was one of those The End? Moments where you know it may return but you aren't 100% sure about it. Besides cliffhangers seem to be the recurring theme in this season so it may just hang in the air and never touched again or out could be brought back way later down the road.

I like how everyone tends to take Fluttershy side just because it's Fluttershy. It's kind of funny but I understand completely.

As cute as Flutterbat is I kind of hope they just make it into a gag reference like she can be Flutterbat for Nightmare Night or something. It would be pointless to see her because they already know how to neutralize her wild side.

I was on Applejack's team initially until she went with brainwashing. Brainwashing is very unethical no matter the reason you're doing it for. It's wrong and inhumane so Fluttershy seemed to be a pretty good idea. Not to mention Fluttershy added good points by saying to add a sanctuary and the bats would soon scatter the seeds. So at that point Fluttershy had pretty much won me over to her side.

Maybe it's now a recessive part of her personality now. She won't go crazy like she did initially but she will crave apples. I'm not sure if they are even going to bring it up again as they don't seem to do that often this season.

Can't wait for the influx of Flutterbat art and fanfics. I'm checking it out right now haha. My new favorite episode. I give it a B+

Castle Mania right now. Its an okay episode. Power Ponies was at least good visually. It may change but compare Castle Mania with the others and it's blown out of the water.

Brainwashing is defined as altering one's way of thinking without thier consent. I noticed that the mane 6 (namely Twilight) have thought of using this a method. Twilight basically brainwashed (at least in my definition) borh the parasprites and the fruit bats in thier respective episodes. I also noticed that she was going to essentially use a reformation spell on Discord way back in Keep Calm and Flutter On which essentially would've brainwashed him if successful. Is Brainwashing magic an ethical method to use? (Even if Twilight can use it should she?)

Yeah that's what I'm getting act. Maybe If they tried Fluttershy's method and failed it would've went differently but I guess when Fluttershy first confronted the bats and failed the others decided to jump on With Applejack since the bats won't be convinced so easily. For the episode's sake they were playing hard ball. Yeah but to be fair Fluttershy's initial confrontation with the bats didn't go well so maybe the others just thought they can't convince them that way. Still though the plan was kind of messed up. Brainwashing seems to be a recurring idea within the group.

After seeing all the episodes thus far I have to say the writers seem to be trying to implement quite a few sub plots during this season. Let's take a look. First off we the box from episode 2 which hasn't even been mentioned since the beginning of episode 3. Nor has any keys been found. (I guess they're saving those episodes for the very end but I wish they'd find the first one already) Secondly We have the castle which many speculate will be Twilight's future castle. And third we have the Equestria Games. Now the next ones are a bit less ominous since they end on cliffhangers. We have the ominous shadow figure at the end of Castle Mania (and so you know we will meet it again if Twilight is going to make it her castle.) The enchanted comic book store and more recently ..... Fluttershy and her little Bat Pony transformation which after seeing the cliffhanger of Bats we can only assume that she isn't fully normal. (Note I'm unsure about the first two being sub plots as they haven't been mentioned yet in the show but Flutterbat seems to heavy to ignore and I'm certain that we will see her turn again or at least see some influence) Not ever have I seen so many sub plots in a show before. What do you guys think? Can the writers deal with all these sub plots going on? (And they may not stop here.)

I was going more along the lines of how everyone went with Applejack considering Fluttershy was the animal expert. Especially since after Keep Calm and Flutter on you'd think the others would at least give Fluttershy's idea a shot at the beginning.

I'm a bit skeptical on giving this episode a perfect score. While it did leave quite the impression on me (Especially since it gave me Flutterbat) It does have it's flaws.

I really liked it but gosh there's so many freaking sub plots going on. We have The Equestrian Games The Box The Keys The Mysterious Pony from the Castle The Enchanted Book thingy And Now we have Flutterbat which may or may not appear again. (Though it really looks like she might come back) Calm down writers..........there's enough sub plots already!

Oh yeah I think I'm the only one who thought Flutterbat was cute as Tartarus! I can't wait to see fan art of her. A few pluses of this episode. +Rainbow Dash and her acholohic problem +AJ in general +Rarity was pretty cool +Genocide vs Reservation conflict +Flutterbat!

Speaking of which the box hasn't been mentioned ever since the beginning of the 3rd episode. Exactly when are they gonna start finding the keys?
