  1. Subtle as the pony you're encouraging us to vote for . Though then again, Rainbow Dash has no use for subtlety either -_- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHOfOutAOpc Already cast my vote, and I'm hoping for an all-Ashleigh Ball final
  2. So long as we're posting music, vote for the orange horse with the gorgeous green eyes
  3. I've got a rough list. Some of the choices were pretty tough, so keep in mind that anything on this list is pretty interchangeable with anything within a few places of it. 1: A True True Friend If you were going to try and wrap up everything I like about MLP into one song, this would be your best shot. There are others I prefer from a strictly musical standpoint, but who wants that ? It's a repetitive but very touching song about friends being there for one another and lifting each other out of rough places. Love it 2: Art of the Dress Between the first section and the reprise, you get a very good feel for the joy and the frustration that Rarity's work gives to her. Add in a catchy tune and her always lovely voice, and you get a very enjoyable song that captures Rarity's essence quite well. 3: Bats! It took a little while to grow on me, but it's catchy as heck, has some fantastic imagery and is sort of unique as an argument in the form of a song. It ends up with a very different feel from the other songs in the show and was definitely the highlight of the episode featuring it. 4: Find a Pet Another back and forth song like Bats!, but with quirky Flutterdash odd couple friendshipping instead of antagonism. The tune is upbeat and infectious, and watching Fluttershy slowly beginning to understand Rainbow Dash's weird thought process is hilarious to me . Just a song that picks you right up. 5: Raise This Barn Another that took a little while to grow on me, and like A True True Friend it's getting the nod because it too is a catchy, happy, touching song, and one that leaves you feeling great and happy for Applejack and her family. 6: Apples to the Core MOAR APPLE FAMILY . Some great and sincere happiness in this one, wrapped up in a bouncy song that makes you want to sing along 7: You'll Play Your Part Those perfect princess voices. 8: Pinkie's Lament A slow, somber, introspective song that reveals a lot of Pinkie's depth of character. Completely different from the sort of tunes we're used to her singing, and it's a welcome change. Watching characters struggle with self-doubt and question their own motivations has always been one of my favorite things. 9: What My Cutie Mark Is Telling Me Yet another catchy song, but pretty different from many of the ones I've talked about already. It's a great chance to hear all of the Mane Six singing together and the disjointedness of the tune drives home the fact that something very wrong is going on here. 10: Winter Wrap Up Gives you a great feel for how Ponyville works, and the role each of the main characters has in keeping it that way. Just a solid song all around.
  4. After watching Rainbow Falls, I can be satisfied in knowing that no episode could possibly disappoint me so thoroughly. /tempting fate More seriously, you could interpret Fluttershy's willingness to compete for Ponyville in the games as being some good character development. I also enjoyed Soarin', even if he came off as a tad dim.
  5. Seems Rainbow's doing well in kicking off her campaign to the quarters. Let's show the loyalest and fastest pony in Equestria some love
  6. T'was my maniac of a little sister. One afternoon I took care of all my daily chores early, and a quick doze off in one of the fields sounded appealing as hay to these sore legs of mine. Just goes to show what you get for thinking you can rest when the day isn't over. I woke up to see Apple Bloom standin' over me with a pair of scissors and stammerin' something about a manestyling cutie mark. At first I wanted to holler at her for doin' things to my mane while I wasn't awake to give permission, but a strange thing happened after she showed me how it looked. Had to tear the mirror out of her little hooves, poor thing . Anyhoof, I decided I liked my new look, and that I might stand to do a few other things differently too. And here y'are. Well, thank ya kindly . Nice to know somepony does
  7. This discussion seems to be moving in circles. Rather than a normal talk about Season 4's merits and flaws, everything in this topic is more along the lines of discussing the opinions of one person and reiterating that certain things will never happen in MLP due to the tone and audience of the show. Because of this, it has been locked. If anyone would like to talk about Season 4 and what they did or didn't enjoy about it, they are welcome to use this thread.

  12. , awesome . It's pretty common to hear people say that they liked Dash best at first, but that she fell out of favor over time and as their appreciation of other characters rose. Nice to see someone who's come full circle . To quote another amazing horse https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bz7dtIE6kQA For everyone, what are some of your favorite friendshippings involving Dash? I really like her relationship with Pinkie, and I have hopes for her and Twilight after Testing Testing, but I'm going to go with her and Fluttershy in the end. I just think it's super sweet how they've been there for each other through thick and thin for so long, even if they don't share a lot of interests. They're very good for one another
  13. Before you changed your title, I had fun imagining Rainbow Dash quotes in Leonard Nimoy's voice

  15. @Chaypell13, hi there . Since we already had a topic lying around for talking about MLP villains and why we like them, I've merged your thread with the older one. Most people don't really distinguish between their "favorite" villain and the "best" villain anyway, and all that. Just helps to keep the discussion all in one place, and I hope you understand For big, threatening, blockbuster villains I'd have to go with Discord. Everything from his voice, his attitude, his ability to torment each character and pick at them on an individual basis, he was a fantastic villain. I consider the episodes dedicated to their beating him to be among the strongest in the series, and he played a big part in that. I also consider him to be an even better villain for how he's willing to reflect on why he does what he does, and to just show more sides of himself than the other big guys. "Covering the land in candy and chocolate milk is fun, but so is having friends, but are they just holding me back from who I am, and I just wanna cause a little chaos and entropy, entropy, entropy..." /plugging a good song For the little, everyday people you feel like you could bump into on the street, I love Lighting Dust. I love her lack of empathy, I love her fierce drive for self-improvement, I love her messed up sense of priorities, and I love her contrasts with Rainbow Dash. I want more of her too, and her story feels unfinished.
  16. Time for Dashie to show her monochromatic-maned counterpart who's boss, because everything's better with a little Dash of color! Hope Spike pulls through this too, since Cadance got the better of him during qualification unless I'm misremembering. Mr. The Dragon is the true hero of the Crystal Empire and deserves to move on
  17. Honestly, I've had trouble picking a favorite in the past. First time through, I was drawn to Homura's amazing willpower and willingness to push on even in the face of crushing despair. She's an awesome character, but my opinions changed a bit over the course of forcing all my friends, family and distant acquaintances to watch the show with me at gunpoint rewatching the show a few more times. After watching it with my sister, I was drawn to Kyoko. She's got an incredibly gorgeous design, as a lot of people in here have pointed out, but that's only the tip of things. I really never thought I could be drawn to sympathize with such a violent, crazy person so quickly but that backstory . I also got really invested in watching her interactions with her waifu Sayaka restore her optimism and and slowly bring back her heart of gold. And I've gone though periods of infatuation with the other characters too, but after another rewatch and seeing Rebellion, I settled on Sayaka. I can relate to that cycle of self-destructive behavior more than I'd like, and I just think there's something very human about her story. So many start off with good intentions and big ideals, and end up broken when things go wrong, until you don't even know why you were fighting so hard in the first place. I also like how Sayaka is constantly analyzing her own motivations, even if she beats herself up far too much. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAyacUBQAVw The Wicked soundtrack is basically Sayaka's life as sung by Idina Menzel. And Kyoko is best Glinda. And Rebellion is just the cherry on top. Seeing a new, strong Sayaka who's worked through her troubles and transitioned from a wicked witch to an adorable angel was a treat to see .
  18. I'm a huge fan too . Didn't know there were many others around here . I haven't gotten the chance to actually watch any of the matches yet, but I've been following the scores eagerly and all. Neither of my favorite players (Federer and Murray) look like they're favorites to win, but I'm trying to stay hopeful. Rafa seems to still be a bit shaky on grass, and anything can happen in these early rounds. I'd like to see Dimitrov, Gulbis, Nishikori and some of the other younguns make good runs too. It's been really fun watching these guys take a step forward in the past several months.
  19. Seems to be a bit of a spectrum. I'm not sure if I classify Hurricane Fluttershy, for example, as a "duet" episode even though Rainbow Dash was very important all throughout. Same goes for Inspiration Manifestation and Rarity, probably. I'm having trouble coming up with things that just fall short, but I think a true example of what you're talking about would have both characters be going through a similar problem (or be creating the problem for the other), have the episode showcase their interactions, and have them both play a big role in helping the other make things right.

  21. PinkLestia is a top tier crackship and they shouldn't be forced to fight Going with Pinkie here, though. It's easy to write her off as just an annoying gag character, but she's actually so much more. A selfless pony who dedicates her life to making others happy, an insecure pony who worries about whether her friends care about their relationship as much as she does, a pony who can have some very low points that she doesn't want others to see, all in addition to being the Fun Ponified ball of optimism that she is on the surface. She's an awesome character, and a character I can relate to a lot. Voted for Scoots, Fluttershy and Angel as well. Above is footage of him plotting against those who didn't support him . Remember, it ain't too late to change your vote
  22. Aye, I've found them pretty underwhelming for the most part too. Not saying Dash doesn't eat it while trying to do complicated tricks or anything, but that just shows she's willing to push herself and keep trying new things . After four seasons, the Bolts' most impressive accomplishment is narrowly edging Ponyville's relay team in the Games, 2/3rds of which could hardly fly at all. All things considered, it's ridiculously impressive that Dash was able to make that a close race. Or I'm overthinking things. As for the leadership and moral end of it, I like the idea of portraying the Wonderbolts as increasingly flawed and fallible ponies as time goes on, even if I'm not the biggest fan of how that was executed in The Episode I Do Not Speak Of. They're more interesting that way than if they're just the awesome, perfect, successful superstars that Dash sees them as. Have a couple of cute pegasi and a tortoise.

'Bout flippin' time they released Rainbow. What the hell, 4DE? You could've capitalized on her back when she was still the face of the fandom. :|

  24. (high fives) Tough to say since at least for me, Pinkie can be sort of hit and miss when she's not the character in the spotlight. While there're a few duds, episodes specifically dedicated to her tend to be damn good though. I'm going with Season 4, just because it had plenty of these. Pinkie Pride and Pinkie Apple Pie were awesome episodes that looked at her motivations, gave us some really great character interactions, and had some fantastic songs to boot. I thought she was good in Maud Pie too, and had some good supporting roles in Daring Don't and Trade Ya. Sure, you also have stuff like whatever the heck was going on in Filli Vanilli, but I think all the great moments in other episodes overshadow the other stuff easily. Season 4 was a treat for the Pinkie fan in me
