    Can someone knowledgeable on computers shoot me a PM? Specifically, Windows 7? Having trouble connecting a computer to the internet.

      The computer I'm having the problem with is shut off at the moment and I'm taking a break from messing with it at the moment.

       

      I should add that, before I did the IP thing, it was showing the network as "Unidentified network" and saying it had an invalid IP configuration, which led me to attempt the IP thing. Before I had done the IP thing, I couldn't even access the modem.

      Is it a router modem? If it is, it will have an interface facing to the network. Try to assign an IP in the same network as it is, and ping that interface. The modem also has another interface facing the ISP. Try to ping its IP.
