  1. Honestly, this is kinda stretching it. Darkness-causing villains, groups of six heroes, power-granting treasures, jealousy as a motive are all extremely common in fiction. An interesting observation, but almost certainly coincidental. It's like when people swear up and down that songs match with certain movies because things happen to line up.

    Kind of related...

  2. Only game I can really say I'm really looking forward to is Treasure Adventure World, which is going to be a remake of Treasure Adventure Game, which is up there on my favorite-games-ever list. Seeing how Treasure Adventure Game is freeware, I'm totally gonna be buying Treasure Adventure World when it comes out. Good to see the developer finally getting some money for a great game.

Other than that, not really looking forward to any games. I stick to old games for the most part. :P

  3. I dont give a RATS ASS about hats.

I just shut up, And play the damn game.

And did i mention i am POORER than DIRT?

So F*** loot crates, and F*** Keys.

    Its better to just play.

    BTW, Who's your favorite class?

You. You're the kind of player the game needs more of.

If Valve would pull their heads out of their asses, they'd add a "Opt out of standard crate drops" option. But they think if we get slammed with crates every 0.05 seconds we're gonna go waste our money on keys.

  4. I typicaly go for Pyro or Heavy.

I mean, I pick GOOD classes.

I literally HATE Mann Co Crates.

I delete them, As soon as i get them.

I dont buy anything online, I mostly play FTP games and Stick to that.

You only have to buy one thing, anything, from the cash shop. You might to buy something just once to get your account premium. Gives you more inventory space, so crates won't be as much of a nuisance, and you can get cosmetic items in your drops.

  5. "We have 3D and HD! There's no reason to make 8/16/whatever-bit style games!"

That mentality pisses me off. Following that logic, because Photoshop exists, there's no reason to draw, or paint. Following that logic, because MIDIs exist, there's no reason to plan an instrument. It's a stylistic choice, damn.

"If you play indie games you're a hipster!"

Sure, there's hipster shit in indie gaming, but there's a ton of that crap in the games churned out by big companies fueled by the "imagination" of a board of directors arguing about what to exclude and include because of "demographics". Bioshock, which tries too hard too hard to be meaningful and deep and angsty to hide the fact it's a clunky FPS, for example.

"If you play retro games you're a hipster!"

That might make sense, if it weren't for the fact that retro gaming is anything but obscure. Sorry if liking actual gameplay over firing blindly and waiting for a magical invisible fairy to heal me is "hipster". If anything, you could reverse the logic and say that people who say this are hipsters because "The NES is too mainstream".

"OMG GENWUNNER HIPSTER NOSTALGIATARD PLAY THE NEW POKEMON GAMES"

Sorry, but no. The creativity's gone, and at this point they're just beating a dead horse. The Pokemon don't even look like Pokemon anymore. They look like Neopets and Digimon. In my opinion, G3 was the last original generation. Now, they just try to copy the design features of old Pokemon (OMG SLAP TWO MORE HEADS ON IT! THAT WORKED BEFORE!) because the creativity ran dry and they can't think of anything new. People have a right to an opinion. Don't flip out when a lot of us dislike the direction Pokemon went. Not everybody has to have the same opinion, geez. Both sides have problems, but I'll say most of the Pokemon "new vs. old" drama begins when somebody says something about "those crappy old games".

"This game is bad because a "internet reviewer" said it is!"

I see this a lot, especially with AVGN. Sure, he does some reviewing, but remember, above all, he's a comedian. He's going to exaggerate things. James Rolfe is an actor. The AVGN is a character. Form your own opinions. Some of the games these "reviewers" do videos on are actually enjoyable.

  6. A thread about cult classics and nobody mentioned The Toxic Avenger, or Troma in general? You should all be ashamed of yourselves. D:

But yeah, I like a lot of cult classics. Not because they're cult classics, though. Because I find them enjoyable. If I specifically liked something because it was a cult classic, that would make me some kind of hipster. Because non-cult classics are too mainstream. <_<

Anyways, for video games, do Earthbound and Ys count?

  7. In praise of shredded meat. It is possible that shredded chicken, beef and pork were all poor critters slowly fed through one of Saddam's wood chippers. On the off chance that such a fate befell these creatures, I went to a barbeque restaurant tonight.

It was great, and you could taste the suffering.

On that subject, I've been thinking that I need to start raising my own livestock. There are no certifications on packaging that guarantee that meat has been processed in a Meatetarian-safe manner, so I don't know if I'm breaking the Meatetarian Ethical Code when I eat meat purchased from the grocery store. How do I know they actually replaced the cow's blood with acid while it was alive, instead of just using meat tenderizer to make it tender? How do I know the chicken I'm eating has been forced to watch its chicks be flayed so it's traumatized to Meatetarian standards?

  8. King Joe knows that Derpy thinks that Noise is a loser, and so, to destroy him, he summons his legendary Joe Special!

    attachicon.gifimage.jpg

That's it! You've made Noise the Hedgetaur so angry that he's gone Super Chaosaiyan!

    post-821-0-58900800-1375164680_thumb.png

King Joe stands no chance! He will destroy King Joe, and all the worlds along with him!

  9. Of course! Your character is fantastic, of course, so I would be honored!

It is on! Noise the Hedgetaur wants to rule Equestria, Mobius and the human world and King Joe is his sworn nemesis because he wants it all for himself! Noise the Hedgetaur's wives are Winona and Derpy and Noise the Hedgetaur is furious that Derpy is cheating on him! So furious that his anger has awoken has latent ability to use the legendary Chaosamehameharingan!

  10. Super Meat Boy on the PC is excellent for beginners. PC (on Steam), platformer.

NES perfect-for-beginners games: Ninja Gaiden, a platformer. Castlevania 1 through 3, platformers.

SNES perfect-for-beginners games: Gradius III, Mega Man X3.

  11. After seeing the wealth of amazing OCs here on the forums, I felt like I needed to create a new OC that represents who I really am, as well as the fandom. After hours of drawing and planning, I finally created a new representation of the fandom, of myself.

    Meet Noise the Hedgetaur.

    post-821-0-30301600-1375081457_thumb.png

That's my inner Hedgetaur. Traditional Sonic OCs and pony OCs cannot represent my inner spirit, so I had to create a new being, one that will shatter the cage of my spirit by revealing to it its true form. I set my spirit free.

  12. Ever since I became a Meatetarian, it has been my dream to consume as much meat as possible at one moment. So far, my best has been eating raw steaks while a tube going down my throat is pumping pureed rabbit directly into my stomach. How can I improve my performance?

    • Brohoof 1
  13. I beat Mega Man X2 again today. I realized that if you beat Wire Sponge's stage first then go straight to Wheel Alligator's stage, if you're patient and quick you can get the X Buster upgrade without getting the leg upgrade first if you use Strike Chain to grab the ledge and quickly climb up before you slide off. Pretty nifty.

  14. Personally I'd prefer to see more Marino myself. She was so underused, she literally was only there for Chapter 4, and like, never showed up again and was a pretty pointless character, which sucks because she was one of my favorites to have on my team

Alright then, they need to do a game for the backstories of all the interesting characters introduced in Mega Man X: Command Mission. :P

The reason I specifically said Steel Massimo is because he's my favorite of the characters introduced in the game, and they gave him just enough plot and character development to leave you interested in him.

But yeah, I'd like to see Mega Man X: Command Mission return, at least in some form. Though we all know if modern Capcom made it, all the interesting characters would be DLC.

  15. I'm gonna have the unpopular opinion here, but I never had the Anniversary collection, don't know why either

As for my favorite Megaman games, the Legends and X(minus X7) series are my favorites, with both Legens games, X1(and MHX), X4, and Command Mission being my favorite games

I wish they made a Command Mission 2

I swear, you've gotta be the only other person I've talked to online who says they've played Command Mission. It's really an underrated game. I've always wanted to see Steel Massimo get his own game, giving

    the original Steel Massimo

    some more backstory.

Ah Mega man. A classic in gaming. It has to be one of my favorite series.

Though, I have only played the classics on the anniversary collection. Yeah, the controls on it are awkward, especially the Gamecube version. But if you don't put it on easy mode then the game is almost exactly the same as it's original NES counterpart.

I would have to say that the best of the originals has to be Megaman 3.

I myself prefer playing Mega Man X series, even though I have only played one of the games in that particular series. The one in question being the first.

I wasn't really ripping on the Anniversary collection, I was just saying there are better ways to play the games. The Gamecube version's actually on my shelf. :P And you should totally try to pick up at least the rest of the SNES trilogy of the Mega Man X games, or the X collection if you can.

I wish Capcom would pull their heads out of their behinds and get around to making a Mega Man X9, that is to the X series what Mega Man 9 is to the classic series. Oh, well, the fans will have to pick up the slack. :P

    • Brohoof 1
  16. The Mega Man series, counting all series under the Mega Man series, is massive. So, I decided to make a thread to discuss it. Any series. Mega Man, X, Zero, ZX, Legends, Battle Network, Star Force, you name it. Discuss the games, the plot, the future of the series, etc.

Now, some information for those staring at this thread wondering what I'm going on about.

    Q: What is Mega Man?

A: Mega Man (Rockman in Japan) is a long-running series, mostly consisting of run-and-gun platformers, though there are also games in the series that are RPGs, even sports. The series has many sub series, with the original Mega Man series being called Mega Man Classic to distinguish it from the whole Mega Man series. Mega Man X takes place some time after Mega Man Classic, Mega Man Zero takes place some time after Mega Man X, etc. etc.

Q: How can I play the Mega Man games?

A: Hunt them down! There have been compilations released, and the originals pop up at garage sales and thrift stores from time to time. A word of warning: Avoid the Mega Man anniversary collection, since its controls are really wonky and the games run poorly and have been heavily altered. X collection's pretty good though

Q: Why are these games so hard?

A: Because you need to get better at them, silly! :P Though, seriously, some of the games do have rather difficult spots here and there, though there's nothing a little practice can't get you past.

  17. A bit belated, but what is everybody's opinion on Valve finally combating idling?

Personally, while I can see where they're coming from with it, they kind of shot their own foot by hurting idling like that. When people were making tons of idling accounts, they had to buy from the "micro" transaction shop in order to get those accounts set up for use. When the market came out, some of those items were getting listed on the market, which meant when somebody purchased those items, the Steam cut and the TF2 cut was taking a good chunk of that money again. Multiply that by thousands (If I remember correctly, wasn't it estimated at one point that 30% or so of the TF2 players were actually idling accounts?) and it adds up fast.

To me, it seems like a rather shady move to wait until after those people have spent that money to step in. Kinda hurts the "I'm not just another greedy corporation! I'm your friend!" image that so many people seem to think they have.

Anyways, here are the latest patch notes.

  18. Something you have to remember when preparing Meatetarian-safe food. Has the animal suffered enough? We humans, sadly, are restricted, because we have this silly "conscience" thing. So, how do you get around that?

An animal torture robot, of course!

    post-821-0-66312000-1374472538_thumb.png

With an animal torture robot, your conscience won't keep you from inflicting such torture as burnings and whippings anymore! And if PETA complains, you can honestly say you didn't do it!

Also, a few months ago, I made such an awesome sandwich that I took a picture of it:

    img-1668592-2-383255_2209025830374_17262

It has AT LEAST 2 layers each of turkey, ham, bacon, cheddar, swiss, and fried egg, all on deli bread. It was fucking amazing.

Good to see you subscribe to the superior Meatetarian ethics. :)

What about drinks/fluids? I assume I'm only allowed to drink blood

You can if you want to, I guess. Milk is also Meatetarian-safe because it comes from exploited cows and goats.

    • Brohoof 1
  20. Ah, yes. The milk of exploited cows. It's the reason cheeseburgers are one of the staples of a healthy Meatetarian diet.

I have a problem. There are times when, you're going to have to eat some plant matter. Such as stir fry, and soup such as vegetable beef soup and potato soup. The question is, when is this not okay? How can one easily tell when their morality is being compromised by eating too many vegetables?

Also, I propose a new rule on vegetables. Under the circumstance of you eating the vegetable preventing a hungry animal from eating that vegetable, the vegetable is deemed safe for Meatetarians.
