  1. For the past couple days, I was busy organizing stuff, and moving shelves. So I decided to take a picture, which is satisfactory despite the fact a little bit of the left is cut off by a wall because of the angle. Always wanted to get a good picture of my game collection, so I finally did. Obviously, consoles and such aren't in the shot. So, uh, not much else to say, really. Enjoy looking at it.
  2. This thread could do with a bump. Finally got around to building something with said epic hoard of Bionicle pieces I mentioned earlier in the thread that got merged with this one. Very orange/centric, with black, dark grey and light grey. I didn't want to use premade limbs, since I kinda see that as taking the easy way out, so I made some. The whole thing uses a bunch of those 3-slot thin beams that came with the Rahaga sets, and makes good use of them IMO. Both arms have a built-in weapon, one arm with a sword, one arm with claws and an axle, which is mostly to make "holding" something easier, if I choose to pose it doing so. I think it looks great, and I probably won't be disassembling it any time soon. <3
  3. Sigh. This is a hoax. Are people really believing this? <_< Let's pick this apart logically. 1: Why would he reveal this via Reddit, and with no proof of who he is? Are there not more reliable places one could post such important information? 2: Those who work on shows have contractual agreements not to leak information. Wouldn't not only leaking information, but explicitly stating he was recently brought on, killing any sense of anonymity by giving Hasbro a means of pinpointing who he is guarantee a lawsuit against him? 3: How does this person gain from doing this? As previously stated, by doing this, they put themselves at great risk of legal trouble with Hasbro for breaking contract/s. What do they have to gain from this that would make taking such a risk worth it? 0/10 unimaginative troll. Giggle at the ghostie asshat and move on.
  4. To those who read my gaming blog: There's something special inbound. :)

  5. I'm just gonna say this: Instead of complaining in a status update, why not make a feedback topic? The latter would be more likely to have attention paid to it by those who could do something about it.

  6. Bronies are fans of a TV show. A fictional TV show. It's not a religion at all. It's a fandom of a television series. How would there be spirituality in that? Princess Celestia, the closest thing to a goddess the series has, is universally accepted as a work of fiction. It could never be like other religions where they believe the deity to exist. Love and tolerance? Really? You think because of some motto that's thrown around that, in reality holds practically no meaning, that a "brony" religion would be peaceful? Think about it: Currently, we have arguments about who the "best pony" is. Think that wouldn't escalate further if there were a religion behind it? People fight over religious figures daily.
  7. Chainsaw Bouffant is best pony.

  8. ^GBA games are really durable, then.
  9. @sLORT: Believe it or not, I wasn't trying to sound like the AVGN. Though, in this entry, I am an angry video game nerd. @Colon: Oh god, don't remind me of sharpies. At least there are ways to remove sharpie marking with minimal damage. And don't think with discs we've escaped from it. Case damage. Water damage on the paper sleeve. Tears in it. Markers that penetrate the plastic through to the paper. Something poking the edge through the clip part's indentation, tearing the paper. These are things I have seen. D:
  10. Now, this is exactly what the title says: A rant. More specifically, a spur-of-the-moment one brought on by the fact I just spend the last hour removing god-awful excessive labels from cartridges. There is swearing ahead. Be warned. Why the fuck did people do this?! Was there no better way? I mean, sure, price stickers are reasonable BUT DO YOU HAVE TO FUCKING PUT THEM OVER THE GAME'S ORIGINAL LABEL? It makes it NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE to get them off without damaging the label. I've seen many games damaged by sticker removal, either buying secondhand games where it's obvious a label was carelessly torn off at one point, or myself accidentally doing so, though I usually chalk that up to the sticker adhesive soaking through the original label, and the damage already having been done. What do people not understand about PUTTING WHATEVER STICKERS THEY FEEL THEY NEED TO SOMEWHERE OFF THE LABEL? It's easy. You just peel the sticker off the sheet AND DON'T PUT IT ON THE FUCKING LABEL! Is it really some mastermind feat to not put a sticker on the label? Even worse? When people ETCH THEIR NAME INTO A CARTRIDGE. Seriously, why do that? That'd be like if I bought a dog and CHAINSAWED ITS LICENSE NUMBER ON ITS BACK. A bit excessive an example, but it gets the point across. Who thinks to DAMAGE THEIR POSSESSIONS to mark that it belongs to them? Is there no better way? While they're at it, they might as well PISS ON IT to mark it with their scent. Or LIQUEFY IT in sulpheric acid to make sure nobody ever plays it again. Hell, RUN THAT SHIT THROUGH A BLENDER while you're DESTROYING IT. Do people never think "Hmm, this may end up sold at one point, and maybe they don't want it beat to shit"? I will never damage my possessions to mark them as my own for this very reason. I've had to clean up after this shit. If you read this rant, I appreciate the fact you took time out of your day to read the ravings of a game-collecting psychopath.
  11. ^Well, I'd much rather buy a physical cartridge, honestly. Tangibility and such. I'm a massive hoarder when it comes to video games. This blog post, for example.
  12. @SBB64: Why would I do that when I already have a working Wii? @SBB64: Why would I do that when I already have a working Wii? @Twiliscael: Well, while they aren't made any more, that doesn't keep you from playing it, right? :3 @S.S. Beatle Brony: Believe it or not, I've never played a single Paper Mario game. :/ I SHOULD change that, but currently I'm putting the little money I get these days towards a Wii U.
  13. ^I've actually been looking out for the Metroid Prime games. Haven't seen 'em really cheap or anything, though.
  14. @Urdnot: Well, as much as I enjoy the Gamecube, I'd have to agree with you there, especially as an RPG fan. The PS2 has Dragon Quest VII. <3 But I don't have a bunch of PS2s, so doing this little thing with them wouldn't have been as amusing. @Hylian: Honestly, if you lived near me, I'd have no qualms with giving you a Gamecube. @superponylinux: Rock on. /)
  15. @BronyHeart: Just curious, have you given the Wii a fair chance? Sure, there's a crapload of shovelware, but there's also games like Super Mario Galaxy, SSBB, Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors, Fortune Street, Xenoblade Chronicles... I used to kinda dislike the Wii until I got one of my own and started playing it.
  16. Ah, yes, the Gamecube. Good system. I would greatly suggest getting the Game Boy Player. It adds a ton of functionality, letting you play Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games on the system. But yeah, rock on, keep collecting. /)
  17. So, I bought Epic Yarn through Ebay what seems like a long time ago, but recently, it got tied up in the post office. Long story short, I have it now, which is good, since that was the whole point of buying it. And now for an unrelated wall of text that I wrote last night and decided "Instead of posting it to my blog, I'll wait until I can combine it with the Epic Yarn entry". So I did. So, here it is. Video games are capable of being an amazing thing. Unlike other forms of art, the user actually directly interacts with them. While paintings may be beautiful, while music may be beautiful, video games are capable of transcending that, since they can have visual art, music, and immersion. A perfect example of this would be a game like Trine, which takes all three and merges them into one experience that pulls the observer in. Art, to me, has more substance if one can interact with it. A picture of a flower is nice. A game where you can interact with that flower, watch the wind blow through it, can be better. It adds a whole new dimension to it. It is not just a still image. It is a thing. Not a real thing, sure, but still a thing in a sense. Many games hold a high level of artistic value in my opinion, though, just like there are "bad" pieces of art from other mediums, there are bad video games, that lack what people call soul. Do I even need to list these? Generic military shooters, etc. etc. The problem is that many people let these things tear down the entire medium. People can't see past the Call of War of whatever MCXVIIs to see the Braids and the Bastions and the Cave Storys. Sadly, this will always be the case for the most part. These days, most of the so-called "AAA" companies just want to pump out another "soulless" hot seller. In the earlier days, there were more artistic games available "mainstream", such as on consoles. Titles such as Donkey Kong Country and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past are examples of this. I'm can't say this for certain, but I believe, and no, this is not so-called "nostalgia goggles", that back then, developers were allowed more creative liberty when the industry was as young as it was. They weren't always expected to pump out a generic "guaranteed hot seller". They were allowed to do as they wished to an extent, and as such, there was a different level of dedication to certain aspects such as the visuals. Now, for the most part, you really only see such things in indie games. I believe that there are two large culprits here: Advancements in graphical technology, and the massive increase in popularity of gaming. As 3D graphics have become the norm, they seem to be used as a quick-fix for blandness. Sure, there can be nearly-photorealistic trees and such, but they lack that so-called soul. As video games have become more popular, many people are satisfied with mediocrity, so instead of making the game visually interesting, they just make it look more "realistic", to attempt to cover the lack of creativity. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an example of this. Sure, it has some great scenery, but tell me when playing through it you never thought "This is really bland". I think for the most part, games shouldn't aim for realism. What is more important is the visual style. Example: Kirby's Dream Land 3 is more pleasing to look at than Gears of War. Sure, the sepiatone glossy musclemen are more "advanced", but they are boring. The colorful landscapes of Kirby's Dream Land 3 are much more pleasing to the eye. Instead of aiming for realism, developers should be using the advancements in graphical technology to make the visual styles more complex. Why have a generic grizzled army man we've seen a thousand times, when you could have a brilliant, painted-look first-person puzzle-type game? The latter would have far more merit. With that, I conclude this little wall of text. I would appreciate hearing opinions, and I'm especially interested in hearing what those who are more on the military-shooter side of things have to say.
  18. My package issue is sorted out, I'll have it in an hour or two. Good day today :D :D :D

  19. I think you achieved what you were going for. I definitely see bleakness and depression in it. I definitely like the bits of yellow against the blues. Good job. Always liked art like this. /) (I'm leaving off here because I'm bad at talking about art)
  20. Argh. Complications with my package. MAY get it tomorrow. I want that game. D:

Kirby's Epic Yarn. Apparently there's a mixup at the post office. It's gotten to the post office, but its exact whereabouts are currently unknown.

  21. This counts for all movies that have them, and though part of it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the movie itself, pretty much everypony knows this: When you're watching a movie with a parent and a sex scene comes up. Top that. In fact, sex scenes in general are awkward. -The Star Wars trilogy, when Luke kisses Leia. lolincest Can't think of anything else at the moment.
  22. Welcome to the forums! Don't worry about being "late" to the party. Just because you're not one of the first to be here doesn't mean you can't take part in it, right? Feel free to post here, and discuss (aside from the obvious ponies) computers, gaming, and post your writings and stuff. Make yourself at home.
