Actually, that lullaby inspired me to post in here. I broke into a big smile as soon as A.J. started singing. I really wanted to be Apple Bloom right then. Applejack is one of few fictional characters I consider a role model. She's full of so many good things--responsibility, common sense, maturity and love. I've been liking her more and more ever since 'Leap of Faith'.

This episode is great. It made me an Apple Bloom fan again. I like it more than Sweetie Belle's or even Scootaloo's episode in the CMC + Luna trilogy. It's so smartly written, the nightmares so realistic and complex, that it takes Apple Bloom's character to a whole new level. I don't think it's a stretch to call it the CMC's best episode since 'The Cutie Mark Chronicles' because it addressed a real concern about them and said "yes, they will still be friends after one or all of them gets a cutie mark." The fillies' VA's are getting older but doing their best, and I like how their maturing voices coincide with the more sophisticated themes the show has been exploring for the CMC.

Is Celestia really the right ruler for the job?
TailsIsNotAlone replied to ManaMinori's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
I've read that fic. It's not so much a story as a fictionalized forum argument with undisguised resentment for other positions. I articulated this in my feedback to the author: Much like your Twilight, this story has a good part and a bad part. It's meticulously well written, well thought out, and has a clear message. But it's also ponderous, preachy, and overstated with unsettling meta overtones. It's a black-and-white polemic, articulating two opposite sides of an argument so that one can knock the other down. The antagonist is weak and your position was clear to me almost from the outset, which reduces the ending to an afterthought. In my eyes, the bad part overwhelms the good, and the story leaves me feeling tired and depressed. You say that it is a reaction against anti-Celestia fics, and it reads like one. I've written a few stories like this in the past, and I now regret them. They may satisfy some emotional need on the part of the author. But they run contrary to the spirit of the show and fan fiction in general. They are more destructive and divisive than the things they oppose. I don't see Celestia as incompetent or tyrannical either, but if other fans do--or at least want to explore the potential of the idea--is that such a bad thing? The pro-Celestia position expressed here fails to be any more satisfying than the anti-Celestia position. How is the "real" Twilight Sparkle in this story, who struggles to rationalize Celestia's every action as correct, any more genuine than the angry and bitter caricature of "False" Twilight? The actual Twilight--the one in the show--has likely never asked herself those questions before. How do we know what her answers would be? Furthermore, is False Twilight simply a convenient villain, or does she also reflect your perception of those who, in spite of your arguments, would still harbor doubts about Celestia and the change? I hope that's not the case. -
This is by far the most important thing about the Drawponies scandal. Everything else, including the ethics of his tracing and the legality of him selling that traced artwork as his own, is subjective and can be viewed in different ways. I have no personal feelings about Drawponies himself. But if Hasbro is sufficiently upset that they end up changing their lenient stance towards fan-produced art, that changes things for everyone. That could hurt the fandom far more than one guy making a living off lazily produced work. That is why we should not simply excuse what he did.

How do you feel about playboy doing an article on bronies?
TailsIsNotAlone replied to xenozfan3's topic in Sugarcube Corner
What a wonderful article. Sounds like the writer came to the con expecting to make fun of just another nerdy fandom, but did a total 180 when he met some of the bronies there and discovered what we're really all about. That's really encouraging. -

I liked that for once, Celestia was not involved in the Mane 6 going to Ourtown and meeting Starlight. She didn't even appear in the episode. Twilight and her friends were very much on their own when dealing with SG, and that feeling of isolation and helplessness added a lot to the suspense factor and to her "cred" as a villain. Starlight presents a different kind of threat to Equestria than anything Celestia has mentioned before. I wonder if she even knew who Starlight was. I imagine she has seen her share of demagogues, but it's a little too easy to dismiss Starlight as such; demagogues will say anything to remain in power, but Starlight's passion for her ideology was clear when, instead of attempting to spin the cutie mark controversy in her favor, she expressed genuine anger and shock as the whole thing fell apart before her eyes.

Sean Rey, brony hit-and-run victim - Fallen asleep in death
TailsIsNotAlone replied to Aurelleah's topic in Sugarcube Corner
I was afraid of that. -_- With all those injuries he suffered, he deserves credit just for surviving this long. I don't understand how a guy could get hit by not one but two cars just riding his bike to work. Drivers really should be more careful. If I ever see someone on a bike, I stay clear of them. I don't know that I could live with myself if I ran someone over, much less fled the scene afterwards. -
gaming Hong Kong 97 - Worst snes game out there
TailsIsNotAlone replied to HunterTheReckoning's topic in Media Discussion
Damn, communist hate was going out of style even in 1997. I'm pretty sure they made the game only for that reason, as 1997 was the year Hong Kong ceased to be a British territory and became a part of China. (And, as we all know, the population of Hong Kong instantly rebelled and proceeded to slaughter the Chinese en masse.) -
Rehabilitating a poor, derpy Twilight from Walmart
TailsIsNotAlone replied to nurd's topic in Miscellaneous Fan Art
You're doing Celestia's work, my friend. Great job so far and I can't wait to see the mane! If I were Hasbro, I would try a little harder to make sure these plushie manufacturers are faithfully recreating the ponies! (Especially for fans like me who can't afford to drop $200 on a fanmade masterpiece from Ebay.) -
I just saw that Rainbow Dash actually won the race in Fall Weather Friends. Pause the episode and you can see she crosses the finish line first. ^^

I like this one. It's really different. The forest is so dark and somber, yet Rarity is so absorbed in Applejack and Applejack is so absorbed in apples that they don't really mind.

I don't think there will ever be a more fascinating picture of the Mane 6 than "Meus Pauxillum Caballio" by Lord Phillock. Just imagine walking into an Equestrian museum hundreds of years from now and seeing a portrait like this...

I was out of the fandom almost completely for a year. I just lost interest early in Season 4 and dropped off the radar until January. Since then I've caught up on all the episodes I missed.

Sean Rey, brony hit-and-run victim - Fallen asleep in death
TailsIsNotAlone replied to Aurelleah's topic in Sugarcube Corner
Poor guy. I really wish he'd been insured; if he makes it, he's going to need a ton of care. The good news is that we've raised $12,000 for him so far. Best wishes to Sean and his family, and I hope the hit-and-run guy goes straight to jail. -

EQD is working fine for me. I just voted for Lyra as "Which Background Pony Do You Want to hear with Major Speaking Lines The Most?" Nah, I don't condone stooping to his level.

Meh, I don't care about this guy or his meaningless agenda. It will pass and FIM will be back up stronger than ever, cuz bronies. That story was actually well written and perversely funny. If you think that's bad, check out Rage Reviews sometime.

What is Rainbow Dash's middle name?
TailsIsNotAlone replied to Firedog's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
"Hey Dashie, what's your middle name?!" "Huh? You're asking me that NOW?" "Well, some friends of mine wanna know!" "My middle name...is whatever I want it to be, baby." -
Sure. I hope this will help! DEFINITIONS Canon: Just the facts. Stuff that has happened on the show or is said to be true by the writers at Studio DHX. (See this blog to ensure proper spelling.) Non-canon: Stuff that has not happened on the show and has not been confirmed by DHX. Headcanon: A slang term. It means a different or more complicated version of canon thought up by one brony or shared by multiple bronies: popular theories, fan fiction, that kind of thing. EXAMPLES Canon: In the episode 'Too Many Pinkie Pies', Twilight Sparkle used her magic to dismiss all of the duplicate Pinkie Pies and send them back to the Mirror Pool where they came from. (This is canon, because this is exactly what we saw in the episode.) Non-canon: After dismissing the fake Pinkies, Twilight Sparkle went home and ate a triple cheeseburger. (This is not canon, because it didn't happen on the show and no one believes it.) Headcanon: The duplicate Pinkies were actually living, breathing clones of Pinkie Pie, and when Twilight zapped them with her horn, she was committing mass murder. (This is headcanon, because the facts are being elaborated on or interpreted in a way the writers did not intend.)

spoiler Who else fell in love with Twilight's temporary hairstyle?
TailsIsNotAlone replied to Omega Centauri's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
LOL. That's great. Of course, this will always be my favorite manestyle for Twilight: Followed closely by this: -
Hooray, more love for Starlight! And she deserves it for being such a great villain. I may have to come up with a whole new headcanon for the ending...it was just too convenient. Of course Starlight never told the villagers about keeping her cutie mark--if she did, she would seem less evil and they wouldn't have a common reason to question her authority. And of course Double Diamond yelled "let's go get our cutie marks back" and everypony immediately stampeded for the vault, abandoning their entire lifestyle without any discussion at all--otherwise, the Mane Six would be up a certain creek as Starlight escaped with their cutie marks. I can think of three ways to eliminate those contrivances: 1. Make it a 3-parter. 2. Have Starlight escape with their cutie marks for a certain period of time. 3. Have the entire thing be a hoax perpetrated on the Mane Six by Starlight and the villagers--i.e. they knew about her cutie mark from the beginning, and as soon as the good guys leave Starlight comes right back and they return their marks to the vault, continuing as before. Wouldn't THAT be a mindscrew.
