  1. Er...I don't really know what's going on here, but if the idea is to make some suggestions about how to come up with a unique OC, then I'm happy to throw my 2 cents in. To make your OC a truly original character, try the following: 1. Make them something other than a pony or a Changeling 2. For the love of Celestia, no alicorns 3. No self-inserts 4. Don't make them the 7th member of the Mane 6 5. Don't make them compulsively dark, mopey, or cool 6. Associate them with a different part of Equestria with limited or no contact with the canon main characters 7. Don't make them look like this: Now go forth, young brony, and make an original original character!
  2. The official score is given as 151-143, but I looked again in the final minutes and I'm positive it was 151-144, which matches the total of "295 people have voted in this poll" that I also saw. Either way, what a close win for our lovable diamond diva--the second closest race in the history of the tournament, looking at my numbers here. 1st: Lyra def. Rainbow Dash 76-72 (4 votes) 2nd: Rarity def. Princess Luna 151-144 (7 votes) 3rd: Princess Cadence def. Trixie 87-79 (8 votes) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ON3EFntWeVg
  3. Don't look now...but we won. What we couldn't do in the 2013 Most Attractive Pony Tournament, the 2014 March Madness tournament, or the 2014 World Cup, we did in 2015. And I'm delighted to be a part of it. All the Rarity fans on this board really stepped up, and that's what made the difference. 876 pages, Jeric's birthday, and a win in a forum contest. This is one hell of a day for the RFC, you guys!
  4. Oh my gosh, it actually happened...still feeling Rarity's loss from two years ago in the first tourney, and now to see her go all the way here...I can finally be satisfied. We did it. SHE did it. Respect to the Luna fans for making this a great Magic Bowl. The story is here! Read all about it and vote on who you think will win Magic Bowl III!
  5. Rar-efied! Carousel Boutique being closed for the day is about as common an occurrence in Ponyville as a Parasprite invasion. Yet on February 10, 2015, one is likely to see colored lights flashing behind the shaded windows, Pinkie Pie's confetti flying out of the chimney, and a sign on the door reading "CLOSED FOR FABULOSITY--FRIENDS, GAWKERS, AND WELL-WISHERS ONLY." The proprietor has earned her day off. Being the Element of Generosity, the most popular clothing designer in Ponyville, the most ambitious social climber in Canterlot and Manehattan, and the most eligible bachelorette in Equestria was not enough for Rarity. As usual she desired something more, an accomplishment so great that not even the fourth wall could contain it--and as usual, she got exactly what she wanted. Rarity is now the Most Attractive Pony of 2015. The journey was not an easy one. Her treacherous road was strewn with the doubts of those who had overlooked her since 2010. It echoed with ugly words from those who derided her in 2014. In the past two weeks, a challenge from the seemingly unbeatable Princess Luna herself plunged it into darkness. But through it all, the pearl pony missed not a single graceful step. The Conference Championships It was like a rerun from 2013--veterans Twilight Sparkle in the EFC Championship and Fluttershy in the PFC Championship--until you took a closer look. Instead of upstart Cinderella contender Lyra Heartstrings, this time Twilight found herself muzzle to muzzle with one of the most loved ponies on MLP Forums, the charming and enigmatic Princess Luna. And where elegant earth pony cellist Octavia once stood, Fluttershy saw a pony she had beaten multiple times before: one of her best friends, the vivacious and ever-fashionable Rarity. Once again Twilight came "so close, yet so far" from a Magic Bowl, as she was simply outvoted and outclassed by a pony who turned the entire tournament upside down without really trying, while Fluttershy met a rare defeat at the hooves of an opponent whose determination neutralized her well-known ability to come from behind. When the dust settled, the thousand-year exile and the Little Drama Queen That Could were the last two ponies standing. LUNA, 123-78 RARITY, 114-87 The Magic Bowl No one knew just what was going to happen next. In a game that featured two remarkable competitors with bend-but-don't-break defense and dynamic, high-scoring offense, the result was a thrilling shootout. For two weeks and nearly thirty pages, Luna and Rarity had one of the most closely-contested games in playoff history. As her fans mobilized and a belief that it was her time swept across the board, Rarity had a strong start that set the tempo of the game. But as the denizens of the Lunar Republic promised, her lead did not last; Luna fought back aggressively and took the lead going into halftime. After that, the battle truly began. Pictures flew back and forth like snowflakes in a blizzard. Bets, promises, and proclamations of love reverberated from Canterlot Castle as each pony repeatedly counterattacked and took the lead. But then came the fourth quarter, when champions are made and one pony must step up. That pony was Rarity. The forum-wide awakening of Rarity's fan base catapulted her to a stunning victory. "Oh dear...I don't know what to say! So much success. So much love. So much...I...I can't stand it!" Rarity wailed rapturously after the game, collapsing onto a fainting couch. She promptly stood up two seconds later. "...Well, perhaps I can. But I must admit that for a time, I wondered if even I was fabulous enough to win an honor like this one. My little setbacks in the last few years have been...difficult. But as any fashionista worth her little red glasses will tell you, the rigors of conception and design must eventually lead to a beautiful final product. And I mustn't forget: to everypony who so faithfully supported and appreciated me...thank you." Luna, Woona, Moonbutt, call her what you like--just don't forget to add "strongest runner-up in M.A.P. history." "Attention, loyal subjects!" Princess Luna said after the game in her own special, and very loud, way. "We must address thee in the Royal Canterlot voice! We are, and shall always be, the loveliest pony in Equestria. None must be allowed to decree otherwise! As punishment for this outrage, We declare that the night...SHALL LAST...FOREV--" She paused as her fellow princess Twilight Sparkle stood up and whispered urgently in her ear. "What We mean to say, of course, is congratulations to Rarity. But We shall win next time!" She shared a civil hoofshake with her worthy opponent and departed to raise the moon, while Rarity retired to the Boutique for her beauty sleep. And with that, the second Magic Bowl and Most Attractive Pony Tournament came to another storybook ending. RARITY, 151-144 Look back on the Divisional round games here... http://mlpforums.com/blog/213/entry-14785-2015-most-attractive-pony-tournament-divisional-recap/ ...And the Wild Card games here! http://mlpforums.com/blog/213/entry-14709-2015-most-attractive-pony-tournament-wild-card-recap/ Finally, see the 2015 tourney thread here. http://mlpforums.com/topic/117121-the-most-attractive-pony-tournament-2015-magic-bowl-ii/page-1
  6. I've worn glasses for a few years now. I started to realize I needed them when I couldn't read the football scores on TV unless I was 5 feet away from the screen. When I went to get my eyes checked, the optometrist couldn't believe I had successfully driven myself to the doctor's office.
  7. Only as a joke. Like, if I'm imitating myself or someone else texting. But I never seriously say "lol" to signify mirth.
  8. Well, let's see...the qualities I find most important in a friend are personal integrity, reliability, and composure. I don't have to be around them 24/7 but when I do need them, I want to know for sure the friend will be there for me. So I would have to say Applejack. She is one honorable, committed pony who I think would try the hardest to help others.
  9. At 54 pages, we have officially surpassed the 2013 M.A.P. Tournament thread. That one ended at 53. Also, a total of 289 members have voted in this year's Magic Bowl compared to 191 in the first. Quite the successful formula you've got going here, Lamperage. I may start a tournament of my own. Anyway, go Rarity! Take a late-night tea break and let's finish strong!
  10. Yes I do. Thanks! I fixed it just now. Must've been the "rhythm" of the words that confused me. (Too bad Dash wasn't in that episode to defend Pinks and talk some sense into Fluttershy!)
  11. ^ Reposted from the Favorite Shipping thread, but I had to...it's one of the most beautiful pictures I've ever seen. Whoever drew it had great passion for this pairing and both of the characters. PinkieDash is, and always will be, my OTP. They showed such potential as an interesting pair so early in Griffon the Brush-Off, and just kept it going with Party of One and Wonderbolts Academy. Both ponies have this spark of innocent mischief inside of them that draws them together. Their fan fiction has been awesome, with touching stories that show all the problems that would present themselves and how they would solve them with love and understanding--Where Your Heart Is, Acquiesce, Sweet Nothings, No Matter What, One Bet...wow! So yes, I am thrilled to be a member of this fan club. Go PinkieDash!
  12. I have a weird personality. Very strong tendencies toward Rarity, as well as Fluttershy and Twilight Sparkle...and I can definitely see that. I'm not into fashion, but I have a great appreciation for aesthetics and fabulous things in general! (Including, of course, Rarity herself.)
  13. Yes!! Lyra went on a Cinderella run and won the first Magic Bowl. It was pretty amazing to be a part of that. Kind of the opposite of this tournament really: the Magic Bowl itself was a blowout, but all of the rounds leading up to it were closer. These are short summaries I wrote of every playoff battle in that tourney (and they WERE battles). It's worth reading about because it shows that even if your pony is not royalty or Mane 6, they can still win with enough momentum and fan support if they are legitimately attractive...which Lyra is. MAGIC BOWL I (Fluttershy vs. Lyra) CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS (Fluttershy vs. Octavia, Twilight vs. Lyra) DIVISIONAL (Rarity vs. Fluttershy, Spitfire vs. Octavia, Twilight vs. Vinyl, Applejack vs. Lyra) WILD CARD (Rainbow Dash vs. Lyra Heartstrings, Trixie vs. Vinyl Scratch, Rarity vs. Cloud Chaser, Pinkie Pie vs. Octavia)
  14. Hello again Zygen! Sorry, I was gone like forever...never forgot about you, though. You're one of the nicest guys I knew, on a board full of nice people. :) How's life treating you??

  16. Why, Peyton Flanders of course, from 'The Hand That Rocks the Cradle'. Dear Peyton, originally Rebecca Mott, had a bad start in life. She grew up with nothing, but was determined to make a place for herself in this world even if it meant lying, manipulating, or stealing. She was fortunate enough to marry a doctor with money, and whom she truly loved--but then it all fell apart. The not-so-good doctor was embroiled in a scandal and committed suicide. The resulting emotional distress caused a pregnant Peyton to miscarry her child as well. Losing everything she had worked so hard to acquire was what pushed her over the edge. Beneath her beautiful exterior lies a poisonous, icy creature who envies the warmth and happiness of others. And she will take it from the very same woman who exposed her husband. Changing her name and offering her services as a nanny, she will enter Claire Bartel's house and steal her husband and children, removing anyone else who happens to be in the way. When enough people rediscover this film, there'll be a whole new meaning to the term Flanderized...
  17. ^ My OTP. Nothing compares to how adorable Pinkie and Dash are together. They were the first pairing that really occurred to me back in Griffon the Brush-Off. They have some of the best stories written about them, too. I have a soft spot for Raridash and Rarijack, too. Both Dash and AJ really clash with Rarity and that makes for an entertaining story. Rarijack in particular has a lot of potential after Simple Ways, where their harmless mockery of each others' personalities was almost flirtatious. Maud is very new, but I think Maud/Spike (Spaud?) and Maud/Rarity (Marity?) have potential. They could bond over their history with rocks.
  18. Good morning, Rarity! How are y-- Oh. Um...looks like you got an early start...*ahem*. Excuse me.
  19. With a better conclusion, I hope. My thanks also! @@Miles, You nailed it. We don't sit here any more than you or Plato's. The brohoofs are a gesture of support. Contrary to how it may seem, it is not always easy to be a Rarity fan. All of the M6 have had icky things said about them here from time to time, things that we know aren't true--but it seems to me that Rarity has gotten the most flak (with AJ not far behind her) in the 2 1/2 years I've been here. So we stick together. We want her to win something big. I think she's the most beautiful pony not named Lyra or Maud. This doesn't take anything away from Luna, who is as good an opponent as anypony could ask for. ...But we want Rarity's future here to be brighter than the past!
  20. Real Life happens. Other Internet Stuff also happens. We understand. If you like, you can drop in on Monday evening when the poll ends and we (hopefully) celebrate Rarity's win. If she doesn't win, we at least can celebrate that we gave it all we had for a truly extraordinary pony!
  21. One day, you will all be fondling cheese.

  22. No, I don't like tattoos. I would get a t-shirt of my favorite pony instead! They're a lot cheaper, plus you can take them off.
  23. A very nice pic of my favorite pony. Good job s.slug!
