I personally think California's flag is awful. Words look awful on a flag. 

I like your State's flag. My state on the other hand....ewwwwwwwwwwwww...well at the very least they changed it in April.

I never liked my state. All you hear about New York is the city...mafias, NYC...that has nothing to do with my life whatso-ever. I live in the rural upstate region. I want the Upstate area to be it's own area in the Union rather than apart of that urban mess. I'd personally call it Iroquia, and use their flag as a sign of respect. 

The current Cali flag I like more because the words, to me, give it more of an individual feel. It is essentially telling everyone that yeah, California is a state, an individual entity. I really like that. I actually like NY's flag a lot. especially with that updated look. It is quite regal.  

I can understand being iffy about your own state. Even though I try to have some kind of pride in my state, mainly for its achievements in motorsports, it feels like most people in Indiana are fairly stupid. Still, I will always be happy to call myself a Hoosier. Born a Hoosier, always a Hoosier. That's why I live by a simple thing; Hoosier, not "american". 

New York as a state should be acknowledged as a whole instead of the main cities, I agree. Most people outside of the state probably don't even know that Albany is the state capital. XD 

I have pride in the rural farm land and the shore of the lake, the many lakes and forests of new york rather than that mess of a city. At least the name should be changed so that it isn't all based around the city.
