  1. Strange how I feel myself perking up listening to the original Lavender Town theme.

  2. Fluttershy - Samantha (Meaning "listener") Preferably names with meanings that fit them. That and coming from a language that may suit them as well. For Sunset Shimmer, a Spanish name meaning Sun might fit really well. Why Spanish, you ask?
  3. Before I had gotten into MLP, I had been doing a bit of research into topics such as addiction, parenting in psychological development and human behavior. From this I was seeing how good humans can be. Some time later, I gave the show a chance and that's what got me convinced that bronies could have the potential to do some real good in the world. With Dr. Gabor Maté's scientific but valid hand to matters of addiction, of chronic illness, Dr. Gordon Neufeld's expansive knowledge on parenting and how that connects with Dr. Maté's work, Dr. Brené Brown on vulnerability and even Dr. James Gilligan who sees violence as a problem in public health and preventive medicine, adding all these on top of the magic of friendship may have turned the brony community into this place of refuge for the tormented. I even went out of my way to help comfort such tormented souls, almost acting as a surrogate parent. It did help with their stress and it was a heavenly experience in places while it lasted. I'm fully aware how silly this sounds right now but this was the inspiration I had in the wake of being exposed to all of the above with FiM only being the cherry on top. In the years that followed, several realizations were made. We as part of this fandom are nothing more than creators and consumers of content. Mostly the latter. Second, we are no different from those outside of our fanbase or even on the internet for that matter. Third, nobody is interested in anything I've mentioned above, they just want to go on consuming pony content and finally, people don't really give a damn about your feelings or what you've been through -- all people will care about is what you do in the immediate present and how it affects them. Your drives and motives are irrelevant. More and more has this caused me to withdraw. I wish I could just say I felt lied to but in reality, I shouldn't have seen the brony community as anything more than what it is: a collection of people with a common interest in a particular genre of content -- nothing more and nothing less. I tried being open about my feelings as I believed to be encouraged to but that hasn't worked either because again, nobody wants to waste any time figuring out why you do whatever you do or did. Nobody wants to hear it. What inspiration I got entering the fandom has eroded and I've seen myself return to my rather misanthropic ways. Now I seem more determined than ever to be this lone wolf where the less I need people or their approval, the better. I thought we were supposed to care for one another but seeing as that's not the case, the only person left to take care of me is myself. Not only has my inspiration been reversed but I've regressed even farther than that. Friendship -- true friendship -- is a most precious gem. The reason for that is clear: there are very few people in this world you can trust and be confident in. Slip up in your judgment and unto you shall a wound be inflicted that may bleed your heart out. Should it come to that, you'll never be the same again. For four years I've fought this realization but one can only BS oneself for so long. The futility of this struggle sinks down like a stone in a pool of filthy sludge: it may be slow and the sludge may get tougher the deeper down you go, but this stone sinks down with time. It is simply inevitable.
  4. Huh. So I didn't already comment in here. If the Debate Pit is any indication, we're going to be pulling at each other's hairs just deciding what policies to have in place. Gun control would be one such hot-button issue. Ideology is a sure-fire way to divide people. If that isn't bad enough, just keep in mind that we haven't even touched the subject of having a functioning economy. Don't even get me started there.
  5. Oil that doesn't sell for much isn't really worth drilling for, especially as it gets more expensive to drill.

  6. Plot Twist: Starlight Glimmer is actually a Changeling. Narcissist ponies don't stay ponies, they become Changelings because they -- like narcissists -- feed on love.
  7. Only temporarily on a Metroid forums. Even I had stated that it was an experiment to see how it would look over there and that it would only be temporary. The only comment I got was that nobody would really care about it as it was just an avatar and that the backlash against MLP and bronies is pretty understandable. It's the kind of reaction you can expect to see from anything that attempts to be obnoxiously pervasive. Nothing else to tell on that.
  8. Well, if it were to suddenly become like DBZ, that would quite jarring. When things like this happen, some fans will be alienated and new ones drawn in. The old and the new fans may end up fighting a lot with the fandom as a whole probably staying sore for some time to come (Good grief, the fallout that was Metroid: Other M...). If it stirs too much controversy, higher-ups may lose confidence in the series' profitability and unplug the series entirely -- at least until G5. If the fallout from Derpy's voice was enough to get Hasbro to intervene, who knows what would lie in the wake of a relatively "excessive" violent episode. Notice that in the fight between Twilight and Tirek most attacks are not through physical contact but mostly through magic or energy attacks.
  9. They have that in airplanes too. When you're given a ticket, you are assigned a seat where the rows are numbered and each seat therein given a letter. I remember that one time my seat was on the fourteenth row and I was looking around all confused as it appeared there were people in my seat. Upon closer examination, I realized there was no 13th row. A real eye-roll moment.
  10. Tales From Far Away by Wind Wolf (formerly known as Night Breeze), a brony musician. Wonderful album. My favorite from the 16-song album would be a tie between Friendship and The Heart of a Dragon. The latter one has lyrics. Take a look at a piece of the lyrics: Perhaps a little corny, yeah. My least favorite of the album would be Regret and that's primarily because it got a re-release -- an improvement on the original, in other words.
  11. Happy birthday, Velcorn!

  12. The Dutch Dub of You'll Play Your Part. That chorus... Whoever's voicing princess Celestia here seems to have a different vocal range. If you're wondering where the high-pitched voice is coming from, it's from Princess Celestia. For some reason or another she needed to raise her voice higher to hit the notes. I notice myself doing the same when singing songs from vocalists with a vocal range lower than my own. Can't really fault the voice actress for that. Something else I noticed about dubs in other languages: if you're not used to the accent, it's going to sound weird regardless of how well the voice acting is done.
  13. Oh, that happens, especially when you just speak your mind. You are entitled to say what you want but you must also face the consequences of what you say. People will tell you to be true to yourself but very often they tell you in such a way that makes you easily fooled into thinking that doing so is risk-free or free from consequence. That is false. Absolutely false. Sure, each case is specific to its circumstances but I think you get the idea. --- Feeling some sense of accomplishment. Now up to speed with one of my school subjects and in such a way that I could give lessons on the past two classes myself.
  14. Called it on which one got #1 spot! There was something else that really hooked me with the Princess Luna episode and that would be the aesthetics. The way everything was presented was pretty captivating, especially when things really started kicking off in the unified dream part. This episode had some stellar fanart.
  15. Pretty annoyed that my laptop battery died on me in about an hour. It's easy to start doubting the battery gauge on this thing now. It's also easy to feel grumpy when you've gotten cynical enough to believe that people simply can't understand what you say. This has led to many instances of self-censorship because just remembering this fact is frustrating enough. Go simple or go home.
  16. French Guiana. You're the first person I've met from there -- IRL or online. Hi.

  17. By now, I've totally lost the will to confide in communities -- it's why I very much stopped posting in the Life Advice section. Even now, even here there is a lot of hesitation to make confessions. I've simply grown weary of opening up vulnerably only to have disappointment be the best that I can hope for. If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. I wish it didn't have to be this way. That said, it's time I got moving and stop distracting myself from what needs getting done. Must confront the challenges of the present.
  18. I'd like to be able to design and even install electrical installations professionally. This can range from the humble residential house to power plants and even grids. Being an electrical engineering college student, I'm well on my way. Being able to do good research would really come in handy, especially when dealing with an industry that has a lot of room for growth. As for languages, that would be to become as fluid in Dutch and Spanish as I am with English. I can already speak the two aforementioned languages but not fluidly. Portuguese, German and Icelandic languages would soon follow.
  19. Iceland has been the place on my mind. It sports very low homicide rates. According to the World Bank, homicide rates there fluctuate between 0 and 1 (rounded) per 100,000 compared to the USA's 4 - 5 per 100,000 (Source). The World Bank has no data for my country but I already know that my country and the USA's rates are very closly matched. Iceland's electricity is almost completely fossil-free (Source). The temperature over there doesn't fluctuate too dramatically, ranging only from -9ºC to 19ºC in Reykjavík, Iceland in 2014 (Source).
