  1. Yeah, I think I'd stay home for the day. I am simply not prepared to deal with all the creeps out there
  2. I remember what that's like. What I can say from experience is that making compromises is what it takes. The open question here is: "compromising on what?" I just can't answer that question for you. You'll have to figure that one out yourself. Perhaps one place you can start is by hanging out with your friends more or perhaps find new friends with whom you can hang out. What's certain is that being a shut-in won't get you far.
  3. Something I take issue with is the use of the word "intimate". The one OP is referring to is sexual intimacy. There are other kinds of intimacy. Emotional intimacy is being able to confide in them about thoughts and feelings regardless about how uncomfortable they are. You aren't just going to be sharing your dreams with them but your worst nightmares as well. If that sounds difficult then that's because it is. There are other kinds of intimacy whose names elude me but they basically come back to being able to share moments, experiences and ideas with one another -- both the good and the bad. Another thing to point out is that physical intimacy and sexual intimacy aren't the same thing. The former is about giving affection -- things like hugging, cuddling and everything in between. If you're in a relationship and there is no intimacy of any kind whatsoever then you may as well be strangers. With me personally, now that I've put all of the above in context, I think waiting until marriage isn't asking a lot if all the other types of intimacy are being fulfilled to enough extents. I could say the same for no sex at all. It'd be disappointing, yes, but I think I can learn to live with it if all the other types of intimacy are being met.

Magma Waves - The Great Attractor

  5. First thing to say here is that I found these by Michael Brody-Waite. I take no credit whatsoever for these. These are just 3 principles. Of course, they're much easier said than done. Practice rigorous authenticity Surrender the outcome Do uncomfortable work Though right now, I'm feeling too tired to explain this in depth so I'll give a simplified explanation on each before giving the source video. Practice rigorous authenticity: basically taking off any appearances you put regardless of the reason. There is a lot of temptation to stay silent or even lie about what you think or feel out of fear for what people might think or how they might respond. Which also goes into the next point. Surrender the outcome: don't try to control the outcome. The reason people put on appearances often comes down to a motivation to try and control what happens next. Maybe it's about trying to control what people think. Maybe it's to influence their actions or to get them to either say something you want to hear or not say something you don't want to hear. Be honest and own what happens. Do uncomfortable work: don't procrastinate, basically. Source video:

  8. I've quite consistently come into the "green zone" in the political compass. What it comes down to is personal liberties and distrust of corporations. I could go so far as to say that I distrust corporations as much as Libertarians distrust government. Politiscales is an interesting test as it tests you on a number of issues. Here's my result: Based on what came out above 50%, I'm for regulated capitalism and rehabilitative justice. Given what got low scores, One could say I'm neither a Communist, nor a Nationalist and definitely not the Laissez-Faire type in regards to the economy.
  9. Tired eyes, barely open Crippled by a promise broken I have seen an empire falling Hopeless, can you hear me calling? Turn away from all that I know Burning this bridge behind me Light the way and I'll follow Where you go Can you tell me what is real? Cause I've lost my way again Can you tell me how to feel? Cause I don't feel anything Now that I'm down here again I'm down with the fallen again
  10. Having epilepsy means I can't get a driver's license. Maybe if I've gone a few years without any seizures, my doctor could declare me epilepsy-free. Or at least I'll have it sufficiently under control so I could get a driver's license. If I could, I'd start off with a Kia Rio. Nothing fancy, nothing overpriced and reasonably heavy to mitigate bodily damage in the event of traffic accidents. If people here didn't drive like coked-up wolverines, I'd be fine with a Kia Picanto. Eventually, I hope to save enough to get an electric car. The Nissan Leaf 2019 model looks pretty nice.
  11. Alnea - Sophia (1453)

  12. I work from a laptop in my room, so... Yeah, I spend a lot of time in front of a screen. At least I don't have to deal with traffic.
  13. So... We're talking about which of the Mane 6 is the most attractive in terms of personality... right? Keep in mind that you better make it clear what your frame of reference is or isn't. People could walk in here and think you really do find cartoon horses attractive, which is weird to say the least. I'm thinking about it more in terms of whose company or presence I would enjoy the most out of the Mane 6. For me, that'd have to be Fluttershy. She gives off such a warm and comforting presence.
  14. If anything, the Gryphons themselves strike me more as referencing Turkey. I remember hearing about Zecora being a reference to Obeah witchcraft -- something you'll find in the Caribbean among (West) African descendants. Ponies seem to be a mixed bag of different European cultures. You'll find a bit of Ancient Greek, Roman and Nordic mythological references. As far as architecture goes, it's very much Western Europe. Changelings... I'm drawing a blank there. Yaks are pretty obviously a reference to Central Asian peoples. It's this area of the Asian continent where you get different territories (whether countries or regions) with names that end in -stan. I also get Mongolia vibes from the Yaks. As far as I know, Hippogriffs are a purely a thing from Ancient Greek mythology. As for dragons, they're the Western type of dragons that are mean in contrast to Eastern dragons who tend to be gentle and wise. "Western" here could include references from Slavic, Germanic, Greek and Roman mythologies.
  15. Your Wave Caresses Me by The Last Sighs of the Wind
  16. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for a teaser. The first thing I'm curious about is the aesthetics and art direction of the movie -- and G5 for that matter. Letting us have an idea what the movie is going to look like isn't asking for too much, is it?
  17. Physics and chemistry. Not to rag on biology but it's a little outside of what I've been looking for. As for what I'm looking for, it's answers for the Energiewende. Replacing the burning of fossil fuels with mostly solar and wind power isn't as simple as just installing solar panels and erecting wind turbines. The sun doesn't always shine and the wind doesn't always blow. Aside from daily variations, these two forms of renewable energy are also subject to seasonal variations. While solar and wind do complement one another, it isn't perfect. One idea is to take surplus solar and wind energy and make hydrogen gas (H₂) through the process of electrolysis. One advantage to H₂ is that it can be stored at large enough scales and using similar methods and technologies to what is already being done with Compressed Natural Gas and Liquefied Natural Gas. Green H₂ can be used for key industrial chemical processes such as the production of key chemical commodities -- most notably ammonia and methanol. There is ongoing research in using green H₂ for the processing of iron ores into metallic iron for steel making. Other than H₂, thermal energy storage also looks promising for large-scale energy storage whether we're looking at hot thermal energy storage or cold thermal energy storage. One edge that thermal energy storage has over batteries is that the square-cube law works in their favor rather than make things trickier like with batteries. Perhaps it could be said that this is more engineering than science but at the end of the day, engineering is science with purpose.

  19. What do you mean "pretend to be someone else"? As in pretending to be another real person?
