      Just because you move on from the relationship doesn't mean you can't help by being a good friend.

      *sighs* I can try to console her tomorrow. The problem is, by not parting ways with her, she will have a harder time moving on. She will inevitably face more emotional pain because every moment she spends chatting with me is going to remind her of our relationship along with its heartbreaking demise that she had to endure and is still coping with.

      That is a possibility. But it's worth the risk for the alternate outcome, which is she learns to move on because you help her through it. Over time she can learn to accept what has happened and you two can be friends.

       

      Either way she will figure it out, but this way she won't have to do it alone.
