  1. What is love without hate? It is still love. Love is love and in a world without hate, love is simply love without the existence of hate. In a universe where only light exists, light is still light. We would just never know what darkness is. Because light would be all that we know.

They wouldn't be loving if they didn't know what hate is. By being able to know what hate is, one knows what love is. By knowing what love is, one knows what hate is. If one knows one thing, one knows what the opposite would be.

Perhaps it is because of our imperfect human nature that we are unable to love without hate. Love equals perfect balance while hate is the disruption of that balance. And because we humans can only strive to be perfect while never achieving such a divine state, we are susceptible to hate.

Hatred isn't the only opposite of love, there is also apathy, which is the opposite of both hatred and love, both strong feelings. Love also has its extreme; when taken too far, it can turn into obsession.

  2. "After several millenniums of ceaseless drought, the sunflowers gradually evolved to provide their own supply of water for the surrounding vegetation through their new botanical valves emerging from their heads. These valves would open and release water onto any neighboring plant that appeared dehydrated ..."

  3. Apparently, when a member has his or her profile set to private, where your posts on their wall have to go through moderation approval, you will not be able to view their responses. They're replies are invisible. What the hell gives?

Actually, the comments are a separate system from private mode. Chances are the user forgot to approve the message.

Well maybe you or someone else from the staff should publicly inform the community. Because I know it hasn't always been like this.

It's been this way since the beginning. In fact, you can test it out yourself. Go to your profile settings and check the "Allow me to approve comments before they are displayed on my profile" setting. Now you can approve messages, too!

  4. I'm seeing some interesting posts. I especially like the ones about technology allowing us to befriend and connect with more people from around the world. But this also brings up some concerns. While technology has evidently allowed us to connect with many people from around the world, wouldn't you also agree that it can hinder one from forming good quality friendships with those physically around him or her? I mean, every day when I go to college I see a plenitude of people hooked on their smartphones which can make it difficult for others to form potential friendships with them. It just seems like they're already busy texting their own friends. And much of our younger generation, from what I have personally observed, is too absorbed in social media and silly apps to give a rat's ass about making new friends. This clearly doesn't apply to all smartphone users but in my experience, there are many people who are too distracted by their mobile devices these days to be able to form meaningful and tangible friendships.
  5. Do you believe that friendships are declining in our generation? If so, then what do you think are some of the underlying factors contributing to this decline? Is it more difficult to befriend people today than, say, 20 years ago? I'm interested in hearing your thoughts.
  6. "It was called 'Earth' ... that was the name of the blue marble that was suspended in the sea of darkness. It possessed a brilliant tint of blue never before seen. Its blue was a blue unlike any other. And it was as luminous as a star. It looked so familiar and yet so alone. How could something so pure and captivating be so alone in the dark?"

So do you actually translate some of the stuff I write into Icelandic? xD That's awesome. Maybe you can translate my entire story into Icelandic someday ^^

That's lovely! :3 It describes perfectly a first sighting of the Earth, if that's what you were going for :)

  7. Through action, a man becomes a hero. Through death, a hero becomes a legend. Through time, a legend becomes a myth and by learning from the myth, a man takes action.

I find the term "You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself to become the villain" to be a little bit more believable x3. Good one though.

  8. Hey Protagonist! From the looks of your username, you seem like a writer. Either way, it's great to have another member here on this site and I hope you enjoy your stay. Nice OC btw! Feel free to add me. I enjoy meeting new people ^^

  11. "The creek slithered freely over the rocks and gravel for miles before diverging at the runoff where it gave birth to a plenitude of premature streams that playfully crawled around the feet of the tall redwoods which danced gracefully in the morning breeze. The primordial and harmonious spirit of nature was at work here; her aura flowed unceasingly throughout her domain."

Nice wording here. It gives your writing a bit more glow (if you know what I mean) and the viewer an inspired feeling

  12. If it makes you feel better, there is actually a planet that is made of diamond.
  13. Yeah! Here's the article: http://www.universetoday.com/97912/nearby-exoplanet-could-be-covered-with-diamond/ You can't even begin to imagine how much this planet would cost xD
  14. Sounds an awful like me. I've always had a passion for astronomy and I still enjoy learning new things about our universe. Just last week, I found an article about a recent discovery of an exoplanet that is twice the size of Earth and is made of diamond. It's 40 light-years away which is relatively close in comparison to other planetary bodies. You cannot imagine how surprised I was upon hearing this news. There are so many wonders out there and there is still so much waiting to be discovered. Writing has always been my favorite hobby. It's what I'm best at. In fact, I've been working on this science fiction story and I just finished writing the prologue. So yeah, I would love to be your friend. I hope you enjoy your stay here!
