(CURSES!!!!) In which is why he try to gain the power of his late father, the Dark knight Sparda(Batman) (Which, by the way, they NEVER talk about his 'supposed' deeds.) Of course this wrong way to gain power, and is forced to stopped by Dante. Vergil regardless of being beat by Dante confronts Mundus but gets defeated. He then gets controlled by Mundus, forcing Dante to fight him. (Insert Nelo Angelo.)

I thought they handled the plot twist of Vergil wanting to take over the world very well. It was more than just him wanting to replace Mundus. He truly thought he was doing it for the good of mankind, he just didn't think Mundus was the right person for the job and thought himself more suited to that role. It wasn't until Dante defeated him that he snapped. His conviction broken.
