  1. I've been all about Rogue Galaxy for the last week. It's one of the best RPGs I've played in years. I only have a few minor complaints like the running speed being slow for how long the areas tend to be.
  2. This is also something people get caught up on. Not every game is about reflexes and action. There are thinking games, there are recreational games, games that just want you along for a predesigned roller coaster, games that are specifically designed to just let you make progress and the only objective is to take steps to make progress faster. There is a video game for everyone. Hands down.
  3. What always bugged me about all the Divine Judgment thing is that we're given a finite time to show our worthiness of an infinite afterlife. Why doesn't the punishment last only as long as the time we're given to screw it up? A human's lifespan is so insignificant compared to the eternity that presumably awaits us. "Curse the god that gave us the power to affect the future but not the lifespan to see it for ourselves." Or something along those lines. We could have killed thousands in the future thanks to our actions but we could go through life thinking we did alright because the effects won't show for many years.
  4. I want there to be a heaven and I want the requirements to be easy. I also want it to be personalized to me, not made in the idea of someone else's. Believe is too strong a word. Hope is more along the lines of how I feel about it.
  5. I can definitely agree with that. I'm a bit biased but I consider video games the ultimate form of entertainment, capable of anything another medium does and more, and skill level being the main hurdle against enjoyment makes for a sad day. There's much to experience beyond just an enemy coming at you in the screen but you can't see all that if you can't get past a certain point in the game. Whether it's the beauty of the world, the nuance in the gameplay mechanics, or even the way the story comes to a head there's so much to see.
  6. Really though the more you play the better you get. Start with games that fit you and work your way to games that are less familiar. If you ever wondered how gamers can pick up games and seemingly play them flawlessly it's because we've played so many games that all applicable skills are brought over from all the different games we've played. We all started out dying to everything a game threw at us. Some started as kids, some as adults, but the general idea is to find the games you do like and are good at and build your skill level until you're good enough for other games. The more games you play, the better you know how to handle situations that come up. If your frustrations come from lack of skill then you can get rid of it by building when you can. And of course don't let people force you to play games you aren't ready for.
  7. Meanwhile I beat New Vegas just short of 50 hours and will probably never play it again. How dare you have different gaming habits than me.
  8. It does my heart good to see metal dominate this topic. Again. <__< >__>
  9. I've been playing video games for twenty years, to the point of exclusion of most other things. I don't think not liking them is even possible for me.
  10. Presumably this wasn't even a good game. Why waste so much time on it? I don't really get playing games for that long though. My interest always fades eventually. There's too many new games out there to play one for such a long time.
  11. Just finished Cosmic Star Heroine a few days ago. Another fantastic game by Zeboyd Games. I can't wait to see what they do next.
  12. I'm not really in the habit of buying things I might regret. I know full well what I will and won't enjoy. That said there was a collector's edition for Growlanser Generations I kinda regretted buying at the time simply because I had already bought and beat the game a month before. Buying games twice isn't something I enjoy doing. I was being kind of a fanboy though. That series is among the best games I've played in many years. Good god. I can't even play games I like for more than eighty hours. Why would you play a game you didn't like for ten hours, let alone two hundred.
  13. I finished Tenchi Muyo Ryo-Ohki. I liked the ideas behind it but they really needed several more episodes to explain shit. A lot went completely unexplained. There's still one series left in the original Tenchi timeline, Tenchi Muyo GXP, but as far as I know it focuses on new characters so I won't likely get any explanations. It's unfortunate. Tenchi Muyo is probably the series that got me into anime way back on the mid-90s when it played on Cartoon Network. I didn't get to see more than a few key episodes for many years and even when I did I only saw the original series. What I'm saying is watching this series in its entirety has been a lifelong goal of mine. There's a lot of different series' in it with lots of alternate timelines. Now I'm on to one of those new timelines in Tenchi Universe. The way the cast meets and all of the situations they find themselves in are completely different. So far I'm enjoying it and seeing new sides to old characters just enhances my love for this show.
  14. In general I wait for ultimate or GotY editions to get games that have lots of DLC. I don't like to shell cash out for stuff. The only time I've ever really done so was the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow games. They were expensive ($10 for each one, for each game) but I definitely thought they added to the game. That's what I'd consider the worst just from the fact that they were overpriced as fuck. Any DLC that comes in new versions is a huge plus for games I've yet to play. Destiny coming with all the big story DLCs, Dragon Age: Origins' Ultimate Edition, and Dragon's Dogma's Dark Arisen version are all amazing. In Destiny's case I'd have been suuuuper disappointed in the game if I had just played the base game. It kinda needs the Taken story arc to feel like a complete story. Unfortunately the Iron Banner stuff seems largely useless except to give a reason for powered up enemies.
  15. Almost nothin'. Ever since Princess Sally (the comics version specifically, the cartoon Sally ain't got nothin' on the comics version) and Minerva Mink were introduced to me as a child I knew. Though I don't take part in any furry community I've always found anthro characters very attractive. To this day furry webcomics are often among my favorites since they have such characters and aren't restricted by publisher guidelines.
  16. Adjusting to the changes from the original Tenchi OVAs to the new stuff is strange. So many new voices for characters I've come to know in their old voices and the animation is newer since there was at least a ten year gap between them. Ryoko is probably the hardest one to adjust to. Her original voice was absolutely perfect for her. Now she's done by someone who typically does young boys in video games and anime so she sounds so strange.
  17. I read the manga mostly. The Buggy The Clown arc, the cat claw pirate captain, parts of Nami's home town, the part where they recruit Sanji, etc. I also saw bits and pieces of the Alabasta story arc and the part where they recruited the deer guy in the anime. I've seen enough to know that I'll likely never watch the show in its entirety.
  18. I wouldn't say I'm religious but I can't stop believing in a non-specific reality beyond the one we see. Everything is possible.
  19. Cosmic Star Heroine. Same creators as Cthulhu Saves The World and the Penny Arcade RPGs. They always know how to make smooth battle systems. They make a point to take out a lot of the archaic bullshit RPGs still cling to and always have well-balanced battle systems that are easy to exploit but are satisfying to pull off high damage. Their levels and theming are also well-crafted. They usually make it obvious which path leads to story and sometimes have amazing designs like the zombie town in Cthulhu Saves The World where the walls of the dungeon are literally the zombies themselves swarming through the streets.
  20. I've mever particularly been able to get into One Piece. Of all the lomg running series' at the time it's the only one that couldn't grab me. Case Closed, Bleach, Naruto, Sailor Moon, Yugioh, Digimon? Yup. Never One Piece though.
  21. I've never intentionally hurt someone's feelings but I don't go out of my way to avoid it either. I say what I mean to say and then I leave it be.
  22. It seems we agree. But I'm argumentative by nature. <__< >__>
  23. Well of course everyone has their own opinions. There'd be little room for discussion otherwise. I just don't see growth as a character as a necessity for a character to be great. The character is at their best when they're kicking ass imo. The rest of the stuff is what makes it boring. On topic: I finished So You Thought There Never Is A Girl Online? I hope there's a season 2 at some point. I hate this 12 episodes thing in anime. It's almost never enough and a looooot of them end of cliffhangers or pseudo-cliffhangers. Been rewatching Tenchi Muyo since. I've never seen past the original 13 OVAs so I'm curious to see what happens.
  24. Is it not equally as pointless to have a character struggle when you know they're going to win because plot armor though?
  25. This show has one of the best openings of all time. Too bad the series ended on a massive cliffhanger. I legit cried like a baby at the last couple episodes of this series. I do not cry. Ever.
