  1. No it doesn't. It promotes user activity and community interaction, along with forging friendships (that's where I met Finest, moose, swift, etc). I've had far more fun and made far more friendships through chat than the forums. Not to mention that if a person sees a topic they like, they'll post in it regardless, and a topic will be formed if it's interesting or good enough for long term discussion. Hell, if a person decides to take their topic into chat, then the topic wouldn't have been good enough for forum material anyway. All chat does is take away the pointless topics and ridiculous rambling by letting users spill out little discussion ideas. Yes you do. isn't this the forum you, along with everyone else, says is "different from teh rest of the interwebs!!!1"
  2. >quality discussions >on mlpforums If anything, the death of chat caused the quality discussions to drop because people took their rambling and spam into the forums.
  3. Why is it the forums have the ability to add a dozen new mods in a day to patrol the forums, but couldn't promote a few people to take over the watchduty on chat so mods could chill elsewhere? In fact, chat EASILY could've been saved if we bothered to add a few chat mods so the real mods wouldn't be bothered with the duty. So thus, we'd promote a few mods, they'd spend their time chilling in chat and enforcing the rules, and the other mods aren't bothered. But we didn't do that, yet we can easily add a dozen janitors to the site? As for the quality of chat, that could've been fixed with a few banhammers. I don't understand these forums sometimes. >inb4 locked
  4. It was my IQ dropping like a stone cus I've been talking to ya! *ZING*
  5. >i dont know what I was doing This is most obviously a kissing .gif, don't hide it.
  6. I have no idea what this topic is about.
  7. The world is really open minded in Greece right now, oh wait, that was a few thousand years ago. Anywho, we're just gonna travel in a circle. What will most likely happen is some crazy new religion will take over and destroy the traction that social progress made all over again. Or maybe not. Atheism and softer religious beliefs are growing very fast, maybe fundamentalists and radicals will soon be mostly gone, and the world will remain stagnant in terms of religion.
  8. Would you be uncomfortable if I said you have really, really pretty eyes? [attachment=14923:Snapshot_20120627.JPG Here's me eating a pony. Took me a few minutes to get myself to stop gagging on the hair.
  9. If there is an afterlife, I hope there's only 1; a good one. It'd be way too extreme for someone who was bad in a 75~ year life to be stuck in a land of eternal torment forever. No one deserves that!

    Hai!

    >pagansister >pagansitter >pagan sitter >pagan >sitter I fail to see where this is going.
  11. I love a good argument, or in this case, a mob of angry users attacking the poor administration. It's hilarious to watch.
  12. Reminds me of a Minecraft Server that promoted too many people to mod position at one time. It resulted way too many inexperienced, foolish mods running around banning for stupid and biased reasons, and they were only promoted because they were popular and longtime users. The server has since lost literally all of its original player base. This could easily happen here. Deleting posts is a much stronger power than most people care to realize. (Of course, the administration in that one was and still is a mess, and way too political for a server. ANYONE involved in mod work there was doing anything to climb a bit higher on the power ladder.)
  13. why in gods name are there so many posters from various Sonic boards here. It's beyond coincidental. Also, how many Sonic boards are there?
  14. Not pure anonymity, only anonymity in the sense you have extra "mod" accounts. This way, if a user needs to be stripped of powers, he isn't publicly shamed. And moreso, this will let the moderators feel more comfortable and accepted in the community, because lets be honest, when I see Swoop or Zoop strolling around, I don't exactly act normal.
  15. In this sense, why do we need moderators other than to have some users strut around like pigeons, acting superior? And yes, it happens, and no, this forum is not a magic-nothing-bad-happens-we're-different forum. It's the exact same as others, except with ponies. People are just as cruel and rude. So if the mods can't do anything other than, ahem, delete posts....is there a need to assign sections moderators? What's the harm in simply letting three or four mods with full powers stroll around in a report section on their free time and sweep up? I'll be more than happy to report simple "lol"s and emoticon posts, and if something is offensive enough to be bannable, someone is going to report it, and if they don't, it doesn't need to be deleted. We don't need a huge group of "janitors", especially since most of them will get a power high and delete anything close to being illegal, even if it is only borderline. It's easy. Employ about 5~ moderators, preferably in different timezones, and let them lose in a report section. This way, less deleted nonsense, less power highs, same security with less staff and thus less potential for corruption. Small government works best online, so to speak xD
  16. ALL OF MY THOUGHTS IN ONE BOX Especially the RP world. Ever since the revamp, going into RPs is a turn off. Especially the character sheet. I have NEVER, to this day, used a character more than once. And the character sheet doesn't allow for the flexibility individual RP forms do. What if I want to know more than just their cutiemark and background? It's just stupid.
  17. One thing I don't understand is why we NEED so many. If something is so bad it offends someone, they'll report it. Otherwise, if it goes unchecked, what's the problem? If no one is offended or annoyed, why do you need a huge group of people to actively search it out? Once again, moderators should just be regular users who ban/delete/edit when a report is made or they stumble across something illegal. Hell, we should also have a system similar to another forum I used, where the moderators are completely anonymous and use different accounts to ban/etc. Also, the mods there mainly patrol one section: the report section. This way, a user can continue their forum habits mostly uninterrupted, no one knows who the mods are, and we don't need 10,000 of them.
  18. >trolls A GROUP of trolls can easily be stopped by a single moderator. We don't need 20 guys online at once to constantly be patrolling the place to seek out "trolls". I only report someone who is spamming or being an absolute dick, not immature or inappropriate posts. I like to play a game called hide everything from the moderators and hope they never find it.
  19. "OH boy, I'm a mod? Time to ban people omg! Where all dem bad posts at?" Too many mods think like that, and don't realize that they're only there to respond to a report or problem and to delete any bad content they come across, not actively search it out and attack anything that's slightly questionable. Think of yourselves like, say, militia. You're only employed when a problem arises. ";_; omg like, someone broke the rules, omg, someone, guys, quick, i'm offended, other people are talking about a subject too mature for me, omg guys, like, omg ;_;"
  20. okay.jpg Yes you can. People are simpler than we like to imagine. We work in patterns, save the exceptions. A person placed in a scenario will only end up in a select few results, it's the way we're coded.
  21. >doom You can't crush the Rebellion silly filly! The Rebellion overthrows YOU! c:
  22. Fizzyscarf, having fallen asleep, missed half the thread. Someone should've told him!
