  1. It seems like the fanclubs serve this purpose quite well and of course there is also the option of starting PM groups, I have been a member of this libertarian PM group on here for almost 2 years now and I am sure there are some others around here for other topics and interests as well as a matter of fact I have taken part in a few short term Applejack PM groups whenever certain things like March Madness or the World Cup pony poll tournaments come up. The great thing about PM groups is that the OP can in addition to inviting people also block people if necessary granting them a great deal of discretion.

    movies/tv Favorite Old Movies?

The Godfather 1 and 2, 2 especially. Part of it is fascination with Italian culture and a bit of nostalgia as despite the fact that none of my Dad's side of the family that I am aware of was involved in the mob there are some similarities between the Corleone family. The reason why I liked part 2 the best is all the flashbacks, I liked seeing how the family got to America and how a desire to escape the violence and turmoil in Italy ironically morphed into creating a criminal empire in America.
  3. Give him more character development and make him more than just some cute boy for Twilight to faun over, and then we will talk. He could be a good match for Twilight but only if those and perhaps some other parameters are met.
  4. Yesterday I learned that the duties of a slave in ancient Egypt are much more diverse and varied than I thought. I knew that slaves were often employed for field work and to build tombs and pyramids but I didn't know that slaves were also employed as soldiers and artisans.
  5. We are kind of seeing this with rise of indie games but yes I would be in favor of something like this being implemented. There is a lot of talent out there and giving them a chance to get noticed is a good thing. With technology as advanced as it has become it is much easier to make 2D games which many of the indie games coming out indeed are and of course there is a significant market for retro style games with ones in that style like Shovel Knight being very successful. I will admit this is the first time I have heard of Steam Greenlight that others have mentioned here but it is not at all surprising to me as I suspect there will be other similar services to this in the future.
  6. Alot better than the current or last president, but then again even Snips and Snails would probably do better than that. Twilight has shown some leadership potential so I could see her possibly doing a decent job though she can sometimes be anal retentive and a tad judgemental though this has improved a bit from earlier in the series. Applejack would do great, she would not be very good at political gamesmanship and might get in a bit of trouble for saying certain controversial things but it would be a refreshing change to have someone tell the truth for once. I just can't see the others being president though especially Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy. Fluttershy is too timid and passive and Pinkie Pie has shown some degree of maturity in certain episodes but the pressure may be a bit much for her.Rainbow Dash is a bit too brash and her foreign policy would likely be a bit more aggressive than is probably wise and I Rarity just seems like she might get too caught up in the prestige of the office.
  7. Either Granny Smith or another member of her family likely discovered the bunny hopping trick by accident, a lot of great things were discovered by accident. And a lot of creatures are frightened by loud noises and Granny Smith probably knew that.
  8. Gilda was indeed far from perfect but I don't think she is the spawn of Satan like so many others in the fandom think and I don't think Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash or even Twilight are completely innocent in all of this. Pinkie Pie acted like a crazy stalker and wouldn't take the hint that Gilda wanted a bit of space, perhaps should could have handled it better but I would have been pissed in her situation as well. Rainbow Dash saw how Pinkie Pie was acting yet she automatically took Pinkie Pie's side when they were both at fault here and Twilight didn't even know Gilda yet still said she was a "false friend" really Twilight? I have always had mixed feelings about that episode on the one hand it introduced Gilda and yes I will admit I like Gilda but it also had the most poorly executed moral in the entire series. Yes there are false friends but not every conflict or argument is so one sided as to have one side be right on absolutely everything and the other be completely wrong on absolutely everything.
  9. VI, partly due to nostalgia bias with it being the first Final Fantasy game I ever played but also because Kefka is one of the best villains in the series, and it seems to have nearly everything you could want in a Final Fantasy game. An engaging story, interesting characters and I like the parts of the game where you split up and see things from different perspectives. VI was the last numbered 2D release and laid the groundwork for the 3D titles. Final Fantasy VII is praised for good reason but I think a lot of people forget VI and the contributions it has made.
  10. Oh Switzerland if only you weren't so damn cold, a low crime rate and relatively high rates of personal liberty are way up my alley but with my knee problems it would be a bad idea to move somewhere that cold so, maybe Italy I do have some family there are despite its problems it is a pretty good country. Neither is probably going to happen though, I may hate my government but I will be damned if I am going to let these criminals take the last freedoms America has left.
  11. Yes and no, we have come a long way with adult oriented cartoons like The Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy ect becoming common place when they were almost unheard of 20 or so years ago. And there is an increasingly strong comic book/animation/"nerd" culture that is increasingly embracing teens and even adults getting into cartoons. But there is this bizarre double standard where it is okay for grown women to be into "boys" shows but not grown men to be into "girls" shows which is one of the main reasons there is so much hate toward the brony fandom and you have some occasional examples of certain kinds of "kiddy" looking animation being looked down upon. A good example of this is the uproar over Zelda Windwaker when it was first announced and even I will admit that while I didn't freak out nearly as much as some others did I pre judged the game based on the rather "kiddy" looking graphics.
  12. You know shit is about to go down when this plays.
  13. Fluttershy has developed but much much more slowly than the others which is fine given her extreme social anxiety but I feel that they often overplay if too much and do not properly utilize it making her a very inconsistent character. They seem to in far too many cases make her shy or "assertive" not when the story dictates it but simply as a contrived plot convenience (huge difference) but there are some times where they do in fact get it right. Case in point is the episode Bats, She was polite and kind she voiced her concerns clearly and succinctly in that episode, she voiced that sort of middle ground between doormat and Fluterrage showing some clear progress and continuity. It is the first episode I think of when I think of Fluttershy done right.
  14. Goku's Ordeal is also my favorite anime filler episode, could you image how much destruction there would have been if Vegeta came along for the ride?
  15. Which is why a lot of companies that are trying to tap into the market for organic foods are using deceptive practices by labeling foods which do not fit those standards as "natural" even though many of them do in fact have GMO's in them and are were treated with pesticides. Of course some companies are going so far as to use the "organic" label in those situations. A lot of companies want the market of the people concerned about this but still want to make the same kind of short cuts which is easy with deceptive labeling combined with insane mark ups of their so called "natural" products which in many cases are the same exact thing as the "mainstream" brands except with a different brand name and label.
  16. It is one of those ideas that sounds good on paper but I just don't think would work here, I kind of understand why warnings and suspensions are between staff and the users in question, not everyone needs to know about every little mistake everyone makes as that sort of thing can encourage the proverbial rumor mill. At the same time though I often question if this approach is wise in cases where someone is perma banned because it is already obvious when someone is perma banned which in the case of popular users especially causes people to often panic and jump to conclusions. I suppose I can understand why something like this would be suggested as it is becoming increasingly clear that things the way they are simply aren't working though I personally think this has far more to do with the staff increasingly losing touch with the users rather than procedural issues.
  17. Not entirely, he was against slavery but saw the preservation of the union as the most important thing only freeing the slaves with the Emancipation Proclamation as a war measure against the rebel sates while not using this against the southern states which remained in the union. It was commonly believed at the time and even as far back as the founding fathers that slavery would inevitably fall out of favor and that it wasn't worth risking the union in order to end slavery. Lincoln did have to struggle though between appeasing his base without alienating moderates and those outside his party that were still loyal to the union. With that said though it is indeed true that Lincoln did not walk on water, if anything he did quite a lot of questionable things including suspending Habaes Corpus, shutting down newspapers critical of the government and advocating a war strategy that at times was a bit excessive (especially in the case of General Sherman).
  18. I got it from amazon.com but yes was made by 4DE though and they also have the same Applejack one in the picture as well. I seem to get the plushies made by 4DE much faster if I order them from amazon.com than directly from their site.
  19. I said "eeeeeyup" less than a minute ago when I found out that I just got my Big Mac plush in the mail today.
  20. It is very good when you compare it to previous generations, I think when most people cite animation they are not trying to say that it is ground breaking but merely that it is pleasing to look at which it indeed is. But it is not the only reason why people are into ponies myself included. I haven't seen animation quality cited nearly as often though as the fact that the characters are viewed as entertaining and relatable, having good lessons without being preachy and with an ability to appeal to adults as well as children along with a few other reasons given.
  21. I am in college so it tends to vary depending on the class but for the most part dosen't apply. As for work though I have a very good reputation and am well respected among most of my peers so I am fairly popular there.
  22. Yes, I want to know that the food I am eating is actually food and not some ill advised attempt to play god that may end up giving me cancer.
  23. Almost any song that uses auto tune, it is way way over used and in many cases actually makes the singer sound worse rather than better that is assuming that singer is actually singing and not lip syncing. More modern songs than I can possibly list due to the fact that nearly all of them sound the same, repetition is a powerful tool in music if it used right but if not than songs become stale. Quite a few rap songs because the whole "bitches" and "ho's" thing is overplayed, it is not the vulgarity that bothers me it is the complete and utter lack of creativity and originality.
  24. Super Mario Bros. (either that or Pacman are candidates for the first game I ever played) Pacman Super Mario Bros 3 Duck Hunt Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2 Zelda: A Link To The Past Megaman X Star Fox (the original SNES one)
  25. This is ridiculous, in theory there is supposed to be fair use but with how complicated fair use law is and how selectively enforced it is we only have real fair use for major corporations who have enough money to hire lawyers to help stave off copyright infringement lawsuits. In the shorter term though Youtube really needs to fix its flagging system, it seems like anything that gets flagged whether it is infringement or not seems to get pulled no questions asked.
