Could just be the nostalgia. The first games took all the ideas, so the newer games usually have plots similar to old games... usually, anyways.

Well, is not like Sonic 2006 was a total disappointment...oh wait it was.

The second one had a nice story and you could play as Robotnik, but I dislike Shadow. Yes Robotnik. I will never call him part of what I eat in the mornings.
