  1. Nope, I refuse to believe that it's actually snowing outside. It's just solidified rain, which is definitely not the same thing as snow.

It doesn't snow here but we do get solidified rain, they're like ice cubes but can actually destroy car windshields

  2. So in the past four days, I've had three onsite job interviews. Clearly I jinxed myself with my last status.

I'm in the same boat, although I didn't have 3 interviews. xD

  3. Ugh, onsite job interview in about an hour... I will be very happy if this is the only one I have to do this semester.

It went well enough I think. I met with five different people for four half hour interviews. They all seemed nice, and I'd definitely consider working there if given an offer. I just have to wait now and see if they think that I'm the right fit for them.

:) hey cool man! Happy it went so well!
  4. Octavia is indeed best pony (of the background ponies at least). Also, thanks for the friend add!

  5. Surprise phone interviews are terrifying.

  6. Happy birthday Fhaolan! :D

  7. 216: Find three friends and play Pacman IRL.
  8. I've always enjoyed the earlier episodes written by Dave Polsky, which a number of other people tend to either be offended by or just outright dislike. In fact, Feeling Pinkie Keen was my favorite episode for quite a while. I haven't really cared much for any of his episodes after Keep Calm and Flutter On though (with the exception of Rarity Takes Manehattan).
  9. As much as I enjoy MLP:FiM, I wouldn't say that it's the greatest cartoon ever. My personal favorite would have to be Avatar: the Last Airbender. The concept, the story, and the characters are incredible, and I can't think of anything that even comes close to topping it.
  10. So the owner of the Red Sox (a popular American baseball team) just casually walked into one of my classes today. I guess that's something that can happen in Boston.

They won the series last in like, 2013, didn't they? xP

Yeah, but 2004 was the year that they broke the "curse," so I imagine that the entire state just spontaneously exploded (I wasn't here at the time, so I can only work off of assumptions). The one I remember was 2013 though.

Believe me, the entire state did in 2004. Nobody would shut up about it for MONTHS.

  11. An argument could probably be made that a student has a more difficult workload as well. While a student supposedly tackling simpler problems, each of these problems requires different areas of expertise. Math equations and written essays need to be thought about in (almost) completely different ways, yet students are expected to excel in both simultaneously. Not to mention, the topic of the individual subjects changes constantly, so you're almost never working on something that you're wholly familiar with. This is often not the case in a career setting, where you're more likely to work on tougher problems, but you remain focused on a single subject for an extended period of time. Also, never underestimate the joys of not having homework. I just recently returned to being a full-time student after eight months of internships, and I really miss the lack of homework... Disclaimer: the above is solely based on my own experiences as a student and in a workplace setting. Any number of people could easily disprove everything I've said with their own experiences. I have also not factored in tasks such as paying bills, managing a home, and etc that come along with adulthood. It's merely a comparison between student workload and career-based workload. Anyways, my hardest year was definitely junior year of high school (11th grade). That's mainly because I had the bright idea to take AP Chemistry (because they let me in, so why not?), which I cite as my absolute worst academic decision to date. I didn't do awfully in the class, but it was ridiculously stressful, and then I bombed the AP test, essentially making the entire class a waste of time. There was also the SATs (I hate those things so freaking much) and other college stuff to deal with... On the flip side though, I think that that's the year that I made most of my high school friends, so that's something.
  12. I'm not the only one! I hated Bongo Bongo, and I had a strategy guide that told me how to beat him... I guess the boss fight itself wasn't terribly difficult, but the dungeon is set up in such a way that if you die, then you have to go through the whole thing again to get back to him. Other than that, there's: Metal Kor from Jak 2: he wouldn't be too bad if there weren't also an infinite swarm of enemies and spare ammo lying around for only one of your guns. Jade Mechon from Xenoblade Chronicles (the last time you fight him in Agniratha): while there are a lot of unique monsters that I had trouble with in this game, the only story-required boss that I had a hard time with was this one. It mostly has to do with this one area of effect attack that he uses that basically always hits everyone for massive damage. The best I could do was throw Monado Speed on one teammate (usually the healer) in hopes that they could dodge. I suppose that i could have used Monado Armor as well, but I hadn't learned it by this time. Hector's Hard Mode from Fire Emblem: the bane of my existence. I gave up several years ago after wasting a ridiculous amount of time getting about two-thirds through it and realizing that I still had to go through one of the most difficult missions in the game soon.
  13. You were forum staff quite some time ago, right? I think that was before I joined though. Other than that, I think I might know you best for your relationship with... er... Lunaris? Is that his new username? I hope so, otherwise this will be awkward. I can only clearly remember his old username, which I remember was supposed to be forgotten about (I have obviously done a bad job of that).
  14. So, Xenoblade Chronicles was fantastic.

After finishing it last night, I may have to agree with you there (at least in terms of its story and characters).

  15. Probably not. For one, I'm terrible at it, and two, I don't think that I can keep it in my dorm room here up at college. I've also never really cared to decorate for holidays, so even if I could, I still probably wouldn't.
  16. I was not technically present for any of the following events (thankfully), but I was attending the school at the time, so I guess it counts. In middle school (6th-8th grade), there was a kid who tried to poison a teacher by pouring bleach into her coffee. I don't really know any more details than that, but the teacher is fine now. Then in high school, most of the freshman hockey team got suspended for pissing on each other in the locker room. That was an... odd... incident, and (to my great relief) I don't know any more details. Finally, in college, I'm in Boston, so every now and then there is a shooting on or near campus (so far, never involving a university student) and robberies. The marathon bombing also happened about a mile away from us, but that really has nothing to do with the college.
  17. Yeah, maybe more than I should... Only around people that I'm comfortable with though, and only rarely in writing (unless there's a point to it). My mouth is pretty clean around parents/employers/strangers/etc.
  18. Fire Emblem: the Blazing Sword (the seventh in the series, just called Fire Emblem here in the States) is easily my favorite game ever. The gameplay is challenging, addictive, and fun; the story, while not exceptionally original, is interesting and told well; and most importantly, virtually every single one of the forty-four playable characters (yes, FORTY-FOUR) are complex, likable, and overall just fun to watch interact. If you take the time to do the support conversations between characters, you will get attached to them, and you will feel awful when a mistake gets them killed permanently. It's the closest I've seen to a perfect game, and I have yet to play a game that I honestly enjoy more.
  19. More nimble and graceful, absolutely, but stronger? I don't know actually. Based on assumptions taken from various RPGs, no, elves are not stronger, but I don't have an answer based on Tolkien lore. If you could find that quote, it would be appreciated. And yes, I guess part of that was luck, but another part was Azog's overconfidence, which could be seen as another flaw. That's not to say that Lurtz isn't overconfident as well (specifically noting the scene where he slides himself up Aragorn's sword...), so I guess neither of them have the advantage in that respect.
  20. Legolas is not known for his melee combat. Sure, he's fast, but brute force is eventually going to win. I wouldn't consider being able to hold off Legolas a terribly great feat. Also, on the flip side, Azog himself got his hand chopped off by Thorin, who was wielding an oak branch as a shield. Lurtz's steel shield would presumably fair much better. (Thorin's later defeat at the hands of Azog I'll chalk up to Thorin being blinded by rage/being a complete moron by full-on charging a guy mounted on a giant warg.)
  21. I've tried meditation before (basically just laying on my back in silence and focusing on breathing), but it didn't work terribly well. My problem is that I have a very difficult time clearing my mind of idle thoughts. After a couple of minutes, my mind wanders off into a different direction. The best I could do was maybe 5-10 minutes. I might get better at it if I did it on a more regular basis, but I don't.
  22. I absolutely refuse to support Azog and his CGI BS, so Lurtz wins regardless of any circumstances. Lurtz could be armed with a plastic teaspoon and Azog with a fighter jet and I'd still say that Lurtz would win. If you want an actual analysis though, I'm still going with Lurtz. It's shown that he's pretty decent with a bow, and Azog wears minimal armor. The warg would be shot out from under him and Azog would be pin-cushioned before he could do anything. Even if they did enter melee combat, shields almost always come out on top.
  23. I'm looking forward to it, though it does seem really early to be released. I guess if you were to compare it to MLP, which typically puts out 26 episodes in a year, it makes a little more sense since Korra seasons are about half that. In any case, I thought that the last season was really good once it got going, and I hope that they can continue that forward momentum.
  24. Dress up as a penguin and ride in circles on a unicycle. This should theoretically trick the pigs into thinking that they are walruses and they shall fly into the ocean to build an underwater empire. In roughly ten thousand years, they'll rise from the sea and end civilization as we know it, but you won't have to worry about that since you'll have died of old age. Can you explain why bathing in sodium hydroxide might make cabbages taste like bacon?
