  1. Wait... I'm not alone? I'M NOT ALONE!!! Yeah, you have no idea how long it took for me to get the guts to join this forum. I just couldn't really come to terms with what I was seeing. I'm still somewhat in doubt at times...
  2. Could you start writing for the show? Please? It's really too bad that these episodes probably wouldn't be made, since I guess they would be too sad for the target audience. But seriously, these are beautiful.
  3. Another example: Applebloom. Unless of course she means to construct buildings and clothing out of apples, her name doesn't seem to work.
  4. I really don't think that our leadership can go farther than the forum moderators. How can we unite all brony-dom under one small group? Then again, I could just be pessimistic. However, I also don't think it's a good idea to try turning ourselves into a religion. I imagine that that would cause far more problems than it would solve. Also, telling people that they should dedicate their entire lives (and I believe that it would require no less than that to work successfully) to trying to regulate this community isn't really fair to them. That's just my opinion though.
  5. I think that I went brony partly because I have a weak spot for things that are adorable. Since MLP has no shortage of that, I could convince myself to watch the next episode simply to see adorable, gigantic-eyed ponies running around, so I imagine that others with a weak spot for cuteness might feel the same.
  6. I think that it was more the story that went along with this that set us off. It seemed that the original poster knew first-hand what was happening and such. However, since that thread is now missing, I cannot provide legitimate proof of this.
  7. Wow, a lot of people apparently want to see this... Hold on, just let me find it in my Youtube history. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYEE5NlEruY (unrelated: how do we put things in spoiler tags? I've been trying to find the bloody button for a while and can't seem to locate it... Noob member is noob.)
  8. I'm sorry, I really just couldn't resist. Please continue with your actual serious discussion. Unfortunately, I think that I'm too new to the fandom to be able to answer such a philosophical question. but seriously, an initiation ritual would be awesome
  9. You hit the nail on the head. This is basically the sum of my opinion (though, as proven before, I may let anger get the best of me and try to wage war online). Though I feel like I'd be more offended if the attacking was against someone else. If it's towards me, I think that I would be able to shrug it off (unless things get physical, in which I wouldn't really have a choice other than fight back or GTFO (and would probably end up choosing the latter, seeing as I'm not a terribly physical person...)). On the topic of the definition of bronies, I don't see why every fan of the show should be generalized as a brony. I mean, I consider myself both a fan of the show and a brony, but there's no reason why every fan is a brony. I suppose it can be thought of like religion. A person can consider themselves a Christian without being Catholic (PLEASE NO RELIGIOUS DEBATES! PLEASE! THIS IS MERELY AN EXAMPLE). If one thinks that they're a fan of the show, but not a brony, then why can't they do just that? Even if others see themselves as essentially doing the same things that a brony would.
  10. As long as bronyism doesn't begin to affect your life in a negative way, you haven't gone too far. I mean, I don't really buy any of the merchandise or anything (the only way someone would know that I was a brony would be to look at my internet history) but I have nothing against those of us who do. I'm also not terribly keen on the r34 and other, shall we say, adult areas of the fandom, but I acknowledge that they exist and try not to judge. I also noticed the little discussion on closet bronies. I happen to be one as well, mostly because I hate drawing attention to myself. Now before I get shot for saying that bronies are attention-whores, I should clarify what I deem to be too much attention. Let's say I'm wearing a pony shirt in public. Random Human X asks, "You watch My Little Pony?" To me, that's too much attention. (Why yes, my favorite pony is Fluttershy! How did you know?) Forgive me if this post has no flow and/or makes no sense. I'm tired and should be asleep. It baffles me how I manage to not learn to not post things when I'm tired.
  11. I'd probably end up being a unicorn, or an earth pony that wants to be a unicorn. I imagine that my cutie mark would be 00101010 (8-bit binary representation of 42, symbolizing calculation and absurdity) or a duck (long story, don't ask. It basically boils down to a demon duck who possesses my soul. I have weird friends). I've got no idea what my colors would be, but I imagine that they would clash horribly.
  12. Well, if anything, I think that I've found why Dr. Whooves isn't with Derpy in the theatre. The evidence is within this photo: Here, we see the Doctor dressed as a pear. The Doctor would never dress up as a pear, and therefore, this is obviously an impostor throughout this episode. All credit to this finding goes to the wonderful people that provided the episode followup on Equestria Daily. EDIT: Derpy's disappearance likely has to do with the impostor Doctor as well.
  13. It's hard to say, but I think that it took me until 'Feeling Pinkie Keen' to realize it. The reason that I had actually made it so far into the series was that I had decided to watch at least the entire first season for certain reasons. I found its sheer insanity to be absolutely hilarious ("What if she exploded... and then exploded again!" "Can you do that? Can you explode twice?!"). I'm sure that there's a lot of people who don't like this episode for that very reason, but it still remains one of my favorite episodes.
  14. I still have faith in the existence of Derpy. I mean, she's still featured on the train in the opening (complete with derp-eyes). I guess that sort of counts as being in every episode. Though I will say that I was very disappointed that Derpy wasn't in the theatre with Dr. Whooves... After seeing that clip, I literally said, "Who the hell is with Dr. Whooves and why isn't it Derpy?!" I'm a big 'Dr. Whooves and Assistant' fan, so sadness ensued.
  15. So this topic came up in the "Brony Art Destruction" thread. The basic jist is that some hater destroyed a bronies art project, made a video for it, and put it up on Youtube. This caused some, shall we say, heated responses. Many of us, myself included, began to attack the video with flags, downvotes, and negative comments, despite how many of us probably knew that that was exactly how the hater wanted us to respond. I like to imagine that he saved all of our comments, copied them into a Word document, and now uses them as a bedtime story, but enough with my imagination. Anyways, while the destruction of someone else's art is most certainly abominable, several of our comrades (who I now agree with) pointed out that perhaps we reacted a little too harshly, considering we claim ourselves to be based on 'love and tolerance'. But how far is that motto supposed to take us? Does 'love and tolerance' require complete pacifism? Are we never supposed to fight back against the hater? Is a brony supposed to draw a metaphorical line, and if so, where is it? ______ TL;DR - When is a brony supposed to get in the face of the hater and say, "This is not okay"?
  16. 00101010 (the 8-bit binary representation of 42, representing calculating and absurd (not because I'm the answer to the question of life, the Universe, and everything)) or a question mark (because I like to question everything until I have all of the facts).
  17. This sounds strangely like the ending to 'The Chronicles of Narnia'. Might I ask if that was the inspiration? This should happen. I'm not a huge fanfiction reader, but i would read this.
  18. No worries. I won't hunt you down, seeking vengeance and to regain my honor at all costs.... THIS TIME! Seriously though, it's all good. You are forgiven.
  19. Gonna use my last two nominations to resurrect some other background ponies. Picture: Name: DJ Pon-3/Vinyl Scratch Species: unicorn Gender: female Rank: Veteran Highlight Episode: Canterlot Wedding Part 2 Why you think this is best pony: She DJs a royal wedding, so she must be good at her job. She's also the inspiration for a rather large quantity of brony music. Also, while it's technically not canon, I can't help but mention MAH BASS CANNON! Picture: Name: Time Turner/Doctor Hooves Species: time lord varies between episodes, but is usually an earth pony Gender: male Rank: Veteran Highlight Episode: Call of the Cutie Why you think this is best pony: Very few other ponies can say that they're potentially a time lord. Also, if he IS a reincarnation of the Doctor, that would make him one of the few ponies that possess an English accent. Sticking closer to canon though, everything in Ponyville would fall into complete chaos if he weren't there to keep track of time. Seriously, who else would keep that windmill clock running?
  20. Picture: Name: Octavia Species: Earth pony Gender: Female Rank: veteran Highlight Episode: The Best Night Ever Why you think she's best pony: Aside from the knowledge that she plays the cello almost nothing is known about her, so what's not to like? It's also assumed that she's a rather good cellist, otherwise she wouldn't be playing for one of the most popular and well known events in Equestria. She also wears a bowtie, which clearly makes her superior to other non-bowtie wearing ponies. EDIT: curses, I forgot to put the rank, didn't I? Um, well I'm not sure who participated last year, but I know that she's been popular since her debut, so I'll just assume she's a veteran. Please correct me if I'm wrong. ANOTHER EDIT: found the link to the previous pony-off and corrected the rank. I also realized that two more sentences were required for the best pony category and fixed that. Note to self: actually read stuff before posting...
  21. I'm probably a hybrid of Fluttershy's shyness and Twilight's obsessiveness. I took the test and it basically confirmed that (moreso Twilight, but the two were extremely close), with a little bit of Applejack thrown in there too.
  22. I didn't start watching the show until late August 2012, and didn't truly accept that I was a brony until a couple weeks ago (I sort of jumped onto the season 3 hype bandwagon).
  23. These adorable, brightly-colored ponies are helping me to break an addiction that I've been trying to give up for years. Until about a week ago, I basically thought that hope was lost in that mission. Then season 3 aired, which for some reason sparked something inside of me (I'm not sure how and why, because I wasn't even too crazy about the Crystal Empire episodes). Just the hope that I finally could break this addiction has restored both faith and confidence in myself (things that I tend to be lacking in).
  24. If he's into absurd humor, I would recommend Feeling Pinkie Keen (easily one of my favorite episodes). Winter Wrap-Up is also a really good introductory episode as well, though he might get turned off by the singing (I'm just saying this because I was almost turned off by the laughing song in episode 2). I would also suggest that the fifth one be Return of Harmony, but only part 1. The reasoning for this is that it will be entirely up to him if he wants to resolve this story arc. I'll admit though, it is kind of a dirty trick...
  25. Probably my most awkward moment was when I realized that I was a brony. It sort of began as a quasi-research project (I was writing a humorous story for a non-brony friend that involved the pony's attempted multiversal domination which they would stop, and I wanted to be able to write the pony characters correctly). Then at some point during the first season, I suddenly realized, "Crap, I actually like this show." I was never the same again...
