...So, what do you think of Hamilton (the musical)?

Oh, us in the American historian community (especially public historians) are actually thrilled about Hamilton! (1) It literally saved him on the $10 bill, (2) more importantly, Lin Manuel Miranda really did his research and, for the medium in which he's telling the story, got about as much right as could be expected in a musical of that nature. It's great that minority communities especially are embracing this history in the U.S. as a part of their own because of this play...

The music is pretty phenomenal too. The song about Washington's Farewell Address is one of the most touching tributes I've ever heard to Washington. Worst thing about the musical right now, honestly, is how hard it is to get tickets, but to their credit they've been going out of their way to get kids from inner city schools to see it for free once a month, so good on them for that!
