Backstory:

Applejack is a member of the Apple family, a huge extended clan of Earth Ponies spanning across Equestria with virtually every member involved in growing and selling apples. She was born in Ponyville and grew up on Sweet Apple Acres, the apple orchard and farm that has been in her immediate family for four generations.

Applejack's parents died when she was a filly, an event she does not like to talk about. For months afterwards she questioned who she was and what her role was in a family that could be torn apart so easily. Finally, to try and find herself and her own way, she decided to move away from Ponyville and live with her Aunt and Uncle Orange in Manehatten. Her aunt and uncle taught her deportment, grooming, poise and even how to suppress her accent during her time in Manehatten, but she realized she didn't entirely fit in with their social circle and found herself dreaming of her home in Ponyville.

One morning, while she was looking out her bedroom window feeling especially homesick, a bright rainbow burst across the sky, leading straight to the distant hills of Ponyville. Applejack took it as a sign that she belonged with her grandmother and siblings on the farm and immediately returned to Sweet Apple Acres. As she returned, her conviction that she was exactly where she belonged took hold in her heart, and her cutie mark appeared on her flank.

Applejack has since worked very hard to make Sweet Apple Acres the best apple orchard it could be, carrying on a long, proud family tradition. She loves the satisfaction of the accomplishments of her labours whenever the ponies of Ponyville line up to buy her farm's apples, cider, jam and desserts. However, she remembers enough from her stay in Manehatten to occasionally surprise anyone who may look upon her as just a simple farm pony.

Personality:

Applejack is friendly, cheerful, hard-working, dependable and above all, honest. She will always do whatever it takes to help her friends and family, often putting them before herself. She's often the calm voice of reason, usually wearing a smile that can cheer up almost any other pony. Determinedly independent and self-sufficient, she works hard and takes pride in her accomplishments.

If Applejack has a flaw to her character, it's that she will sometimes stubbornly take on too much work, or try to do too good a job. Sometimes it's her pride that gets the better of her in attempting to cope with difficult situations on her own. Often it's fear that she will let someone down that drives her to bite off more than she can chew.

Applejack always tries to be polite, but the finer rules of etiquette at highly formal social events sometimes confuse her.

Applejack is very musically talented. She plays guitar, fiddle, and banjo. Some ponies even think she looks like a famous country music singer.

Physical Description:

Applejack's coat is light orange, except for several white freckles on her cheeks. Her eyes are bright green. Applejack's straw-gold mane and tail are both kept long. She usually ties them back loosely with red ribbons while she's working.

While she's average size for an Earth Pony mare, Applejack is physically quite strong after years of apple bucking, farm work and rodeo competitions.

Applejack almost always wears a brown cowboy hat.

Likes: Apples and anything made from them, music, dancing, athletic competitions, baking, her farm, her friends and her family.
Dislikes: Beavers, parasprites, vampire fruit bats and anything else that could damage her trees or crops; clothes that are too frilly; disappointing others; cheaters and scammers.
Rivals: Flim, Flam
