Compass Rose

Compass Rose was born to an upper-class family on the outskirts of Manehattan. Her childhood was secure and happy but also boring and restrictive. Despite being traveling ponies themselves, Rose's parents would often bar her from exploring like other fillies her age and largely confined her to the boundaries of their property.

Albeit spacious, the filly quickly grew tired of her family's land and would attempt several times to explore further locations on her own. The most important example is one in which, following a shopping excursion in Manehattan proper with her mother, the young Rose would run off and get lost in a shady part of the city.

Alone and scared, the little filly would attempt to retrace her steps back to her mother but to no avail. Eventually, she would acquire a crayon and a torn piece of paper. With these, she would end up creating a map that would not only lead her back to her mother's last location but also provided a rather detailed and accurate outline of most of Manehattan.

In the end, filly Rose would be taken in by a few police ponies and promptly returned to her mother. As any good parent would, Rose's mother scolded her but suddenly stopped once she noticed the new image on the filly's flank. Rose had earned her cutie mark! The celebration was cut short once the two returned home and the filly was swiftly grounded. Afterward, Rose's parents would allow her more freedom when it came to exploring so she could further foster her special talent.

Upon reaching adulthood and splitting from her family, Rose would end up denouncing her special talent, believing it to be boring. It is during this time she would start going by "Rose"
 

Rose is a warm and outgoing pony. She enjoys spending time with others and can make small talk with anyone no matter how unfamiliar. Though, befitting of her lifestyle, she is quite precarious and just cannot stay in one place for very long. This applies not only to her living habits but her personality as well, as she often struggles to stay focused on one thing. Albeit an entertaining experience, having a substantial conversation with this mare can be quite an arduous task.

She also has a bit of a lying streak when it comes to questions about her true occupation or special talent. It's not that she is a compulsive liar or anything (those who have spent any amount of time with her know just how blunt she can be), she is just a little ashamed.
 

Rose has a very youthful visage. She is quite slender and stands a slight bit taller than most mares. Her coat is a light yellow with white accents on her chest, belly, hooves, horn, and ears. Wide and bright, her eyes are a brilliant shade of dark pink. She has long, light brown hair with hazel highlights. Downwards, her fetlocks are unshorn, exposing her hooves.
