Grand Journeys
By Electrobolt
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Species: Pegasus
Cutie Mark: A compass with the needle pointing to the South-West. The compass symbolizes Grand Journeys' love for adventure and traveling.
Personality: Generally easygoing, Grand Journeys is rather friendly. She tends to not be very serious at times, believing that being serious all the time means you lose out on what the world has to offer, as well as not having plenty of fun. But she can be just as serious when the time calls for it.
Backstory: Having been born in Fillydelphia, Grand Journeys was originally a secluded pony. Her standard day-to-day life as a small filly had consisted of wake up, have breakfast, leave for school, come back home from school when it was over, eat dinner, and then do whatever at home until it was time to go to bed. This cycle had continued until she had turned eight years old.

One day after coming home from school, Grand sighed as she went straight to her room. As she stared at her flank, she saw that her cutie mark had yet to arrive. Annoyed with this, she had decided to try something new, something risky. Deciding that just living her routine wouldn't bring her any closer to her cutie mark, Grand rushed out of her bedroom and started to head out the door. But before she could leave the house, her father spoke up and asked where she was going, to which all she responded was that she'd be back before dinner.

Once she did that, Grand Journeys began to charge through Fillydelphia before eventually reaching the border of the forests near Fillydelphia. Taking in a deep breath, she then began to venture into the forest. Even though her parents had warned her not to wander into the forest, she did so anyways. "Besides, it's not exactly wandering if you're intentionally going into the forest, is it?" she chuckled as she continued. As she went even deeper into the forest, the surroundings suddenly began to grow darker and darker, as the trees started to block out more and more of the sky.

Normally, fillies and colts her age would be scared and run out of the forest, but not Grand Journeys. Strangely enough, the thought of the lighting growing dimmer and dimmer set something off in her mind as she began to grow excited. This was the first time she experienced such a thrill in her life! Letting this thrill drive her, she continued going deeper and further into the forest until the light was completely snuffed out, leaving her completely in the dark, alone. Now, her thrill was lost as she now began to feel nervous. Looking around, she tried to retrace her steps and get out of the forest.

However, after an undeterminable amount of time had passed, she had just about started to give up and cry to herself. "This was a stupid idea..." she muttered through her tears. "I bet this didn't even give me my cutie ma---" As she was about to finish this sentence, she had looked at her flank, only to see an image of a compass on her flank. She couldn't believe it - she finally got her cutie mark! Just as soon as she had noticed this, Grand Journeys briefly forgot about her predicament as she found herself overcome with joy and excitement of finally earning her cutie mark.

With this newfound joy and happiness - and without realizing that she had made it back to the semi-lit portion of the forest - Grand bounced back onto her hooves and began to run in an aimless direction without thinking about what she was doing or where she was going. As soon as her excitement had died out, she found herself yawning to herself, her stomach grumbling at her. Just how long had she been in the forest anyways? As she looked up to the sky, she could see the sky turning into dusk and the stars about to come out... Wait, the sky? Looking in front of her, she could see no trees surrounding the area and the city of Fillydelphia in the distance.

"I made it out?" she questioned herself, still in disbelief. "I actually made it out of the forest on my own...?" Her mouth was agape, before it turned into a big grin. She actually ventured deep into the forest and escaped, safe and sound. And with a cutie mark, to boot! "I don't know why I never thought of adventuring before now!" she exclaimed before giggling. However, upon realizing that the sky was turning into dusk, her giggles quickly stopped as she gasped. Her parents! They're bound to be worried about her! With her parents in mind, she began to hurry back to her house in Fillydelphia, moving as quickly as her hungry and tired body would allow.

After having finally returned home in Fillydelphia, it was already nighttime with the moon beginning to rise. With a sigh, Grand Journeys opened the door to her house, expecting her parents to scold her for being out too late. However, they weren't waiting at the doorway. This raised her curiosity as she entered her home, closing the door behind her. As she entered the living room, she saw her mother and father sitting down, looking in her direction. Not sure what they were thinking, she nervously gulped. However, what came next surprised her - her parents got up and approached her, only to hug her.

Not sure what to make of this, she smiled and returned the hug, happy that they weren't upset with her. After the hugging session had been broken, the family then started to have their dinner. During dinnertime, Grand's parents had told her that they used to go on adventures themselves, and that her mother had done the same thing when she was a filly. After they had finished their dinner, Grand's father began to tell them a few stories of their old adventures. With her mind filled with stories of amazing adventures, she found it rather hard to fall asleep. She did, however, finally fall asleep, only to wake up refreshed and resumed her life, her cycle no longer consisting of going straight to school and straight back home after.

***********************************

Fast forward twelve years later, on Grand Journeys' twentieth birthday. A few months before then, though, her parents were planning something, whispering to each other while she was in the room. However, now that it was her birthday, Grand's parents told her their plan, which was to save up enough bits to start her up for her own adventures. Unable to contain her excitement, she ran up and gave her parents a big hug, to which they were slightly surprised before smiling and returning the hug. For the rest of the day, however, they had celebrated with freshly-baked cake and ice cream, along with other good party stuffs.

The next day, Grand went through her belongings that she had packed in her saddlebags, making sure she had everything she needed for the long journey she had ahead of her. After finishing her check-up, she then approached her parents and kissed them goodbye, promising to write to them whenever she had the chance. After all had been said and done, Grand Journeys began to depart on her travels, waving goodbye to her parents before finally setting off to the skies. As days turned to weeks and weeks turned to months, her travels had taken her to a number of locations: Baltimare, Dodge City, and Ponyville to name a few.

After having traveled to a number of locations, her wings had taken her to the city of Tall Tale. Upon having arrived, she began to look around the place and was surprised. Tall Tale seemed to be quite an impressive location, and she had fallen in love with the city. She didn't quite have enough bits to afford a house to stay in at the moment, though, so she had to settle with staying at an apartment complex. But even then, the room they had given her had a nice view of the locale, so she couldn't complain. Alongside with going out on travels which resulted in returning to her apartment room, she did some sidejobs to earn some bits so that she could stay at her room. She had been doing all this ever since.
