Backstory: -- Human for Kingdom Hearts:

DreamState, a technologically advanced world of the future-present. Owing much to the world's longevity, DreamState's technology had progressed to the point where anti-gravity transport was the norm, and limitless energy had been made available at no cost. As a result, most pressing social issues dissolved into the ether, and humanity entered into a new area of what they would call “peace”.

But as technology advanced, so too did the organisms who lived in the world. Without an understood reason, homo-sapiens began taking their first steps towards higher evolution. A new breed of child was born: a life-form capable of perform astonishing psychokinetic feats. Many more would join it. After only a single generation, “post-humans” would outnumber their un-embellished predecessors nearly 2 to 1. While this new breed had been welcomed with open arms at first, non-powered humans began to grow distrustful of their “genetic superiors” as they took more and more positions in local governance and began to set up segregated institutions for themselves.

Even as hate groups sprouted up in both camps, progress proved that it was not done with its subjects quite yet. Within the last 25 years of the world's time in existence, specialized post-humans began to come into the world. Some were only super-powered individuals whose talents far exceeded the average post-human. Others were born with the ability to read minds, or complete calculations in fractions of seconds.

It was in this time-frame of emergent abilities that Serah Anastos was born in the fringe district of Greeceland, to a family of normal human parents. After only a year of life, Serah proved herself to be of a higher caliber. At one year old, Serah's mother fled with her outside of their house that, until one bad jar of baby food ago, had not been set on fire.

Serah was gifted with pyrokinesis: the ability to spontaneously generate flames from her body and direct them towards targets. Her parents, fearing government interference, kept Serah's ability secret. When Serah grew old enough to enter the public school system, she was registered as “human” instead of “post-human”. Serah would live in this lie until middle school, when she was temporarily expelled for getting into a fist fight and setting the supposedly fire-proof gymnasium on fire in the process.

Her parent's fears turned out to be for naught, and the only repercussions for her unusual existence were a short television interview and a full scholarship for a post-human-centric private education. Serah's parents pushed for her to take this new opportunity, and began attending a Post-human only school in her last year of middle-school.

Though Serah had disliked living her life in denial of what she was, coming out as a post-human did not grant her the freedom she desired. Though her pyrokinetic abilities were great, she possessed no natural talent for psychokinesis, despite having the capabilities to do so as a post-human. As a result, she floundered in the education system, uninterested in the curriculum and incapable of passing the mental-assessments. As her resentment of the situation grew, her temper became the thing of legends, spoken of only in hushed voices in the hallway. Serah found new and inventive ways to rebel against the school system, in the hopes that she would be expelled, but the full-ride scholarship that the school was receiving from her ensured that she would not be taken out unless she took herself out.

And so she did. Fed up with her school life, her parent's nagging, and everyone's expectations of her, Serah left Greeceland one Saturday morning in her Junior year of High School, leaving behind a note that told those who would attempt to find her to give up.

She started to change her appearance, first by cutting her hair and then by dying it various shades of colors. Serah didn't expect to be recognized on her travels, but it didn't hurt to be careful. Living life on her own meant she could make whatever stupid decisions she wanted, which included not searching for employment and putting her skills at petty theft to extensive use. Preferring to stick to what little country-side existed in the city-dominated world, she spent her free time training herself in the use of her psychokinetic abilities. 'Who knows,' she thought, 'maybe I'll actually get a worthwhile opportunity to use them someday.'

At age 19, an opportunity provided itself in the form of an invitation to join the “post-human national guard”, delivered by several powerful gentlemen who weren't prepared to take 'no' for an answer. The post-human radicals had infiltrated the government, and their agenda didn't allow for the continued annoyance that non-powered humans were presenting them.

Serah refused the offer, having no horse in either side of the race. She defeated the guardsmen, knocking out one, crippling another, and leaving the third with burn scars that would never fully heal. From that moment on she was marked an enemy of the state, and her excursions into cities for supplies became more tense.

As Serah celebrated the day of her 20th birthday in solitude, the world looked a lot darker than it had been before. What started a dream was becoming a nightmare all too fast. Worst of all, even in this hell that surrounded her, Serah could find no home of her own.

Serah woke up under a tree in ManeFrame National Park, her head harboring a nasty hangover and dark spots clouding her vision. She blinked a couple times, and the spots didn't disappear. If anything, they grew larger. She noticed with some distress that the shapes weren't purely black; beady yellow eyes stared at her with animal like interest. A sharp, dark, claw-like appendage reached towards her chest...

-- Pony:

Running away from her family and home because of the borderline monastical attitude towards life that existed, she stowed away in an traveling sales-pony's wagon to escape. Continued to hitch rides until she ended up in Manehatten, with no possessions. Changed her hair color in case her family ever came looking for her.

-- Human for "Shifted":

Serah was born in Greece, and her family belonged to a unpopular religious cult that existed outside of mainstream recognition. Life was uneventful and stifling, and Serah was allowed little freedom in her day to day activities. She dropped out of private school before completion and began planning a way to leave both her family and the country.

Stealing a large sum of cash from the cult's safe, she bought a ticket to America where she thought she might be free from her family's grasp. Once she arrived in America, she lived in the airport for about a week before heading out towards the nearest city. Before setting out she changed her hair color to a garish pink shade, and her name from Celosia to the slightly more American sounding Serah.
