Shooting Star

Appearance: Shooting Star has a short-clipped orange coat, almost tabby orange, and a pale lavender mane with two streaks of white that narrow and disappear like comet-tails as they progress back from her forehead and down her back.<br />At this age, she's about 4'3" (or a couple inches under female standard, depending on what interpretation of pony sizes you wish to use.) Her build isn't athletic--it has the lazy, effortless curviness of a city girl who's had her looks handed to her by birth, and the exuberance of a mare who doesn't mind enjoying the fact.<br />Her horn is generally kept fluted in a very simple style, usually an even taper of a single swirl with a blunted tip. She has big eyes (but all ponies have big eyes) with lime-green irises.

Cutie Mark: Shooting Star's cutie mark is, not very surprisingly, a shooting star (in a mono-colored dark-grey icon form). It refers to Shooting Star's magical talent, which is illusion magic crafted by weaving starlight into images. When she discovered her cutie mark, she quickly learned that she could skillfully create a fake image to surround herself with, or, with more difficulty, another pony. She is, however, currently unaware of this talent (see backstory)

Personality: Starlight Sparkle is a Manehatten girl--she likes to have fun and doesn't take life too seriously as a way of dealing with her own circumstances in life. While she prefers being the center of attention, she gets along well in most company. She also has a deep and abiding love/weakness for brownies, and loves tying things in her mane. Before she got mane ribbons, she once stole shoelaces to tie in her mane.<br />And she prefers to be called 'Shoots'. For short.

Backstory: Shooting Star was born, (though she doesn't know it), in a Baltimare orphanage where she was found at the age of 12 (convert human to pony years if appropriate) by an outreach program run by Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. Tested and determined to have some talent, she was tutored for a time, and discovered her special magical talent.<br />However, Shoots also volunteered for a series of research experiments run by older students and faculty of the school. In a calamity during an advanced teleportation experiment, Shoots was sucked into a spacial rift and dumped near the edge of Whitetail Woods with no memory of her past and only a basic semantic knowledge of the world.<br />She met with ponies after wandering, half-starved, to the edge of Ponyville and being taken in. Taking the name 'Shooting Star' for herself that her rescuers came up for her, she perked up remarkably fast, given the unusuality of her circumstances. As of the start of RP, she lives in Ponyville, hoping to discover where she came from and where she's supposed to fit in Equestria--but she's not working very hard at it.
