Star Rain
Age: 13-20(depends on the roleplay. Can be higher if needed)
Gender: Female
Species: Unicorn
Appearance: Image is above, but she also sometimes wears a blue cloak that once belonged to Ginseng(her own cloak become too small for her and Ginseng let her have it). It covers her tail and her entire body save for her forelegs and chest(which is covered by her vest) with a hood(big enough to shadow her face) and silver hoodstrings.

Formal attire consists of a dress with the skirt part at knee-length. The top-portion is black while the skirt is midnight-blue with a sky-blue hem and decorated with tiny white beads. She wears boots that are black with blue star designs. Accessories include a silver shoulder bracelet and a silver choker.

(Equestria Divided) Star Rain wears her mane in a ponytail and dons the apprentice robe during her time in House Moon and Star. Right before her departure, she lets it down so that it reaches to just above her knees and she ditches the robe for her vest, blue bracelet, and blue cloak as stated above.
Cutie Mark: It's a cyan star(magic) with white dots(art) surrounding it that looks like it drawn with colored pencils. She's an artist with a batch of art spells to help her out along with a technique for casting some non-art spells with ease.
Personality: Shy and quiet, Star Rain was simply the lone filly/young mare who sat in a corner and silently completed her tasks. She always looked cold and emotionless, never answered with more than a few words, and usually never tells more than she's willing to let on. This, combined with an above-average intellect, kept others at bay when she's alone.

In the company of friends and family, she sheds her coldness and quiet nature in exchange for a more warm and kindhearted attitude. Star also gets talkative, laughter-prone, and a little bit silly while maintaining an air of calm, sort of like a teacher or a mother would. As the oldest in her circle of friends(Equestria Divided: Well, second-oldest), she's often the advisor and big sister of the bunch.

Present in both sides of her personality is the will stand up for what's right and her tendency to be downright snarky. Star as an artist is also present in both(mostly the icy side), as she lets her art skills(which had been shaped by a little over a decade of drawing) speak for her emotions.

She has a mild case of autism and a stuttering problem.

(Equestria Divided) Alot of this personality is present, but Star Rain just starts off shy, quiet, and timid as opposed to also being icy and distant. After witnessing the horrors of the House, discovering certain truths regarding the war, her father, and her, and seeing her friend leave, that's when the frosty side of her begins to develop and it's the image she wears from that point on.
Backstory: Star Rain was born on a night filled with shooting stars, which gave her her name.

Her life was pretty normal for the most part except for the fact that she lived with Ginseng and not her mother(the two went through a divorce). It wasn't too weird though because they spent pretty much her whole life together.

They then moved from Ponyville to Canterlot. At that time, Star Rain was six years-old and ready to start first grade(she went to kindergarten in Ponyville). There was trouble adjusting, then she simply became aloof and never made many friends. She eventually met some friends and loosened up a little. During that time, she had began to take a magic class and hone her art skills. In the process, she developed a certain technique for spell casting as a result of using tons of magic to make her artwork. This technique along with her art skills was what earned her Cutie Mark.

However, she had bullies to deal with. Because she was so aloof, smart, and was always wearing her shirt and vest, she was teased rather relentlessly by the popular clique.

She put up with it for a while until she decided to diss them back. Unfortunately, it was a big, fat beserk button that got her being chased and cornered by the alpha bully into the gym's locker room. As she didn't know the short teleport spell at the time, Star Rain decided to resort to her last move: a technique-powered chain spell.

When the teachers got to them, they saw the alpha bully pinned to the wall with blue chains and the normally calm Star Rain standing there looking traumatized. "I can't believe I just did that, I can't believe I just did that," she kept chanting like it was a survivor's mantra.

After much questioning and calming down, Star and the bully were given detention(Star's was two days while the bully's was a whole week). She had gotten off easy, but she still got detention and it made her very upset at the time until her father told her,"It's alright. You had no choice back there and it isn't the end of the world."

Those are the words she carried in her heart from that point on.

(This is for the Equestria Divided roleplay)
Star Rain was born on the night of a star shower, giving the newborn unicorn her name. A few weeks ago, the princesses had disappeared. Equestria was descending into war. Families were breaking apart. Ponies everywhere were beginning to have gruesome deaths. Star came into the world... at the wrong time.

Prior to her fifteenth year, Star lived in Canterlot with her father and mother. While she took after her mother in terms of appearance(albeit in lighter shades) and stubbornness, she mirrored a good chunk of her father's personality and interests. As a result, Star never really grew close to her mother.

At first, Star never paid much attention to the war, the propaganda, or the crimes committed by House Moon and Star. She kept herself busy by just drawing, painting, practicing art and battle magic, playing chess, reading, studying, and a whole bunch of other stuff. It wasn't until she started comparing the stories in her books to the world around her that she began to get general ideas of the whole situation and see the other sides' justifications. She became agnostic and wary of her House's beliefs as a result.

When it came school life, she never made too many friends. The ones she did make were very much to be trusted, although their House's beliefs were not popular topics among themselves. They too were wary of the things taught at school that was related to unicorn supremacy, non-unicorn inferiority, the princesses', etc., albeit at varying levels. A few were less wary than Star, some were more wary, and a few others were around her level. They weren't exactly the "cool" ponies in school, often finding themselves standing up for each other and getting laughed at for it. And while some of them had colt friends, Star never really understood other guys aside from two of her friends.

There then came her fifteenth birthday. It was supposed to be a jubilee of joy and sweets with many gifts of books, art sets, and a few articles of clothing from the best designers. It toned down by a significant amount when Star Rain's father, who was a medic, was called out for a recon mission in the middle of Earthborn territory. He had promised her many wonderful things when he got back, but he never did. And the letter they received of his untimely demise was like being hit in the head with a battle hammer while being mocked for being weak.

Life was never the same afterwards, even after Star got over her grief after just a day of self-loathing. For two weeks, the two mares(well, Star was almost going to be fifteen) never spoke to each other without getting into a fight. The ones they had in the past were pointless spats over nothing, but these ones were taken up to eleven with Star frequently receiving slaps, among other things. And while she still had many cheerful moments with her friends, she confided in them many times and they could never help, no matter how hard they tried. It was comforting to know that they genuinely cared, but it wasn't enough to ease the pain she felt from her now-daily fights.

An official eventually arrived a with proposal of sorts. It was basically like getting an invitation to a special academy for pre-mares. Except there wasn't saying no to this one. Especially when her mother was more than willing to comply. Especially when it was coming from the Archmagister herself!

Star was quick to comply, but she realized the pains of her choice all too quickly. Only Eternity, a unicorn of great wisdom and friendship with just as much mystery, helped her stay sane and alert. From that moment on, she wrote it all down in the pages of her notebook, to look for the her that's still true to herself, to remember her mistakes "Because how can you ever learn if you forget?", and to make her decisions.

Her white notebook became filled with dated entries magic lessons and injuries given to her by experiments. And warm moments of friendship with Eternity. And the desire to see her friends once.

And 372 days passed.
