Backstory: Sylvester was born into a rich family of German-Americans, where money had not been a problem. With his parents always working or off someplace meeting with others to make the sale, this had left Sylvester all alone to do whatever he pleased. Seeing as one of the things he found that he liked to do was to take walks in the city, he often did such on his own, with very little help from the personnel hired to take care of him.

By age 11, he slowly started to develop a distaste for people in general. Every time he took a walk to the city he found more and more people going progressively negative. He always noticed people arguing or crying over something, and even started developing a distaste towards his classmates - to the point where he would shoot a glare and snort at the "Snobs" and move as far away as he could from them.

At 16, when his parents had worked to the point where they didn't need to go to as many meetings as they did before, they came back to start spending time with Sylvester. It was too late however - he never smiled at their presence, he often ate alone where he wouldn't be bothered by anyone, and has even shed the sophisticated clothing he was told to wear in order to look "presentable to the public" and switched to much more bland clothing.

It was at this point that Sylvester's mother had started to panic, and immediately called in doctor after doctor after therapist after doctor. She was shocked to find out that the first doctor had classified him with Schizoid Personality Disorder, only to react harshly to him and firing him on the spot. It shocked her even more to find out that the other doctors had said the same exact thing about Sylvester - he has Schizoid Personality Disorder.

Running out of options, and over exaggerating the severity of this, they sent Sylvester off into a mental rehabilitation center in order to fix him, so that the Rolands can get their son back to the happy child they remember him as. For the next two years, he would be switched from hospital to hospital, due to some unexplained reason, and has finally settled with one hospital he could stay at.
