  1. Even though I'm a HUGE Sonic the Hedgehog fan, my opinions of certain games in the series change all the time. For example, Sonic Generations. Back when this game came out in late 2011, I was in the middle with it when it came to my overall opinion. But, after playing it again after two years, my opinion on the game has changed drastically. I couldn't believe how much this game harps on the nostalgia of previous titles. But, on top of that, I couldn't believe how well they did it. But, before I get into the game, I'll start by briefly talking about the story. Right off the bat, we see the younger Blue Blur, Classic Sonic, being dropped in an HD recreation of Green Hill Zone. After playing through this love letter to the fandom, Classic hears a loud, unsettling noise coming from the distance. He simply shrugs at the sound a few seconds later and continues running. But, that doesn't last for long when this ungodly monstrosity called the Time Eater enters the Green Hill Zone and sends Classic into a timeless void. Upon this, we're immediately transitioned to the present day, where Miles "Tails" Prower and (most of) Sonic's friends are planning a surprise party for the Blue Blur's birthday. For those that don't know, this game was released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog. That's why this element is introduced into this game's plot. We then see the older version of the Blue Blur, Modern Sonic, enter the area and be surprised by his friends. As the party commences, the same monster from before enters Modern's time and begins kidnapping his friends. Sonic attempts to homing attack the Time Eater, but the monster simply smacks him unconscious, sending Modern into the same void that he sent Classic. From that point on, both Sonic's must race through their memories to restore the past and find out who exactly is behind the Time Eater. Alright, now that the story is out of the way, time for the game itself. The game has a total of nine zones for our two heroes to run in. Each zone contains two acts within each of them. Act one will always be played with Classic Sonic while Act two will always be played with Modern Sonic. The acts are designed to cater to each Sonic's specific abilities. For example, Classic's stages are more centered around platforming and spin dashing your way through the level in a full 2D environment. Modern's stages are like this, too, but his stages are much faster and he doesn't have the spin dash. However, that is replaced by the boost gauge, which Sonic has had since Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colors, though it was taken away in the most recent title, Sonic Lost World. Now, let's talk about the zones themselves. Each zone is a recreation is a recreation of a certain level from a past game. For example, we have Green Hill Zone from Sonic 1, like I mentioned earlier. We also have recreations of zones like Chemical Plant from Sonic 2 and Sky Sanctuary from Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Each stage is remade beautifully in full HD graphics and each stage has a remix of their respective themes. I love the remix of Green Hill Zone for Modern Sonic, and I especially get a kick out of Classic Sonic's City Escape remix. There's also a power-up shop that you can go to where you can purchase things like the elemental shields from Sonic 3, boosts, and other things around those lines. You can purchase these items after you earn them by doing specific missions. Problem was, I could get through almost every stage without power-ups. Because of this, whenever I earned the special items through missions, I often forgot I earned these items to begin with. So, these power-ups are mostly just pieces of optional nostalgia. Another thing that bothers me is the final boss. The actual fight itself isn't that bad, and it's one that I think most players can enjoy without much of a problem. The issue is the background noise. If you've already played this game, I'm pretty sure you know what I'm talking about. While the two Sonic's are finishing off the time eater, everyone that you've rescued is talking to them on the other end, pointing out the painfully obvious homing shots and telling you what you must do. It gets annoying REALLY quickly, and whenever I replay this boss, I just turn down my TV just so I don't have to hear it. But, honestly, those two are nitpicks. The overall game itself is one of the best 3D/2D Sonic the Hedgehog games I've played in a long while. Like I said before, this game harps on nostalgia tremendously. But, I think the game is one of the best among titles that follow a similar concept, such as New Super Mario Bros. or Donkey Kong Country Returns. If you're a Sonic fan and if you haven't played this game yet, please, do whatever you can to get it. It may be the end of the generation, but this game will hold up for a long time. (But, don't get the 3DS version. That version is terrible ) Overall Game Grade: A Next Review: Shadow the Hedgehog
  2. Now, not saying they would ever touch this, but are you curious about pre celestian pony history? (Aka PC, or if you wanna be cheeky BC). I mean celestail isn't around in hearth warnings eve or so the story goes. would you be curious to find out there use to be worse than discord running around? the forces that gave Sombre his dark magic? the source of unicorn magic itself. I'm cool with the current show, but i sure wouldn't say no.
  3. here's a link to the PC. it sports: an AMD FX4300 processor clocking in on 3.8 Ghz an kinda good 8 gigs of RAM an AMD radeon 7850 1 gig graphics card and a 500 gig HDD i know the graphics card isn't all that good, so should i buy this? it's about 600 euro's, and that's really cheap for a game PC.
  4. Hey everyone! I'm hoping to get a new computer soon, and I'm planning on building it myself. I know the basics and what is what, I just need advice on what would be decent things to choose for a first PC. My budget will probably be around £500-£600 ($800-$969) and I'm looking for it to be able to run most games somewhat decently. Right now my laptop isn't too great. I was initially looking to get something with these sorts of specs: 1TB Hard drive 6GB of Ram Perhaps and Intell processor, I'm currently on an i3 If I could, 2GB of video ram These were what I was kinda looking for. If I could get some advice on what components would be a good selection, I'd appreciate it. Thanks a lot, I've probably missed out some key info, if I have, please say so.
  5. Super bored and all of my friends have all but abandoned me for video games. So, looking for anyone really to play something with. So, here's a general list of games I already have installed/have accounts for. League of Legends Terraria Killing floor Minecraft Dragon Nest Borderlands 1&2 Dungeon Defenders Dungeonland Torchlight 2 Saints row 2/3/4 (Not all that interested in 4.) Prime World No More Room in Hell Path of Exile I might have a few more lurking around on my hard drive that are multiplayer. So just, let me know if you happen to be interested.
  6. Anyone here play the free to play survival horror game 'No More Room In Hell'? What do you think of it? Fancy a game sometime? If so my Steam Group and personal Steam links are below Steam Group: Steam (personal)
  7. First off, I apologize if this is a duplicate/horribly generic thread, but I figured a new one would help more than digging up an old thread that may or may not have the same question as me. Second off, I am a pc gamer, and I will be downloading more than a couple mods. (Though mostly designed to make the game look better, my Skyrim has ~70 mods installed) Alright, so I have been looking up reviews for both games, however that hasn't been really effective since reviews tend to happen when a game is released, not long after there have been multiple patches. I have heard that Fallout 3 is straight up amazing and fun to play, and I believe it. I have also heard that New Vegas is very fun, but it doesn't feel any better than 3, nor does it feel like anything more than a large dlc for 3. Would that even affect me since I never played 3? (Similarly, Skyrim was my first/only elder scrolls game, so I think it's amazing, but it was a disappointment to Oblivion players) Secondly, I keep hearing about how insanely-terribly-awfully bug infested New Vegas is, but again, would this even affect my choice if there are patches (official or unofficial) for the title that fix many of those bugs? In short, do the facts that I'm new to the series and have access to bug fixes mean that I should just go ahead and get New Vegas instead of 3?
  8. I got Borderlands on PC a few days ago, and I absolutely love it! Games are always great when they're deep and expansive along with being humorous. My only gripe is Scythids... *shudders*
  9. Im looking at starting a build for a gaming PC because im sick of consoles tbh, ive never built a PC and was wondering if people were willing to help me out on the bare basics, tips, tricks and suggestions for graphics cards , motherboards etc etc Thaaaank you !
  10. So, with Battlefield 4 quickly coming up over the horizon and Battlefield 3 fading rapidly in the rear-view mirror there is never a more questionable situation I find myself in than in fact whether or not to purchase this game, or what to think of it, or just the game in general. I would discuss it on the Battlefield 4 forums but if they're a sign of anything the average intellect of a member of the BF4 community is not polling in the triple digits as of current. Now, Battlefield is one of the few reservations I still make for FPS games in the current market, and while no doubt the series has left much of what made it Battlefield behind many years ago it still continues to entertain and provide a reasonably entertaining if not a bit untapped shooter to the market. Battlefield 3 to me was a giant dissappointment, but it was by no means a particularly bad game, and Battlefield 4 looks like a vastly upgraded version of that, however here lies the problem. Battlefield 4, simply looks like more BF3, and while no doubt the improvements to level design, weapon and vehicle customization, and general gameplay fluency speak for themselves, I largely feel that it could do so much better. Considering recent statements on what the developers want in Battlefield 5 it's almost brought to question whether these games are increasingly built to become obsolete. Don't believe me? March on over to Battlefield 3's extremely promising but poorly taken advantage of vehicle and weapon upgrade system and then look at Battlefield 4's vastly upgraded but also not properly taken advantage of version of the same system. I had my fun with Battlefield 3, we all did, but I like my Battlefield 1942, Vietnam, 2, and 2142 a lot hell of a lot more than I like Battlefield 3. So, the good, the bad, and the morally questionable. Well what's arguably the bad and good has been fairly well covered and we come to the inevitable business model. Battlefield 4 barely interested me until E3 2013 in which my interest shot into low level orbit, but since then it has fallen and fallen, climbing slightly in the beta only to dive off a cliff to several developments shortly after. Battlefield 4, or more specifically EA, have gone out of their way to pull out all the stops in combining everything people hate into one simple package. Pre-order DLC? Yep. Timed exclusive console DLC? How about that kids. A premium service which also nullifies the entire point of pre-ordering? Present and accounted for. Ingame microtransactions with a dubiously questionable system about how they're earned through legitimate play? You bet your ass they're there. So, what's excited you about Battlefield 4? What's left a sour taste in your mouth? How do you feel about the business model? Are you getting the game? Or do you just not give a shit? I'm interested to hear so get posting.
  11. As i found there is no pc thread in the forums ,i did found a nitendo thread though (scumbag console peasants). So discuss everything about pc-s here like new graphics cards ,overclocking, games, mods etc. PC Elitism ftw!
  12. I was just pouring through the internet when I suddenly came across many of the educational games I loved to play when I was a kid. It ranged from the Magic School Bus PC games to the Jumpstart games to even the Math Blaster games. Has there been any educational games you loved to play as a kid? Maybe the games I mentioned, or you could add your own! Let me hear them so we can relish in our nostalgia! Here's some pics of my favourites! They were so educational, and at the same time very addicting.

  17. Well the title really says it all, I need help with building a PC since this is my first go-around at doing it. Now I've been looking through various sites and have gotten advice from a few other people, and have come to this build at the moment, but would like a few more opinions before I spend a few hundred dollars and end up buying something I horribly regret. Current Build: CPU:AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor ($129.99 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($84.99 @ Amazon) Memory:Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($43.99 @ Newegg) Storage:Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($69.98 @ Outlet PC) Video Card:Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB Video Card ($209.99 @ Newegg) Case:Corsair 300R ATX Mid Tower Case ($59.99 @ Microcenter) Optical Drive:Samsung SH-224BB DVD/CD Writer ($15.98 @ Outlet PC) Power Supply:Corsair Builder 500W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply ($29.99 @ Newegg) Total: $644.90 Now all that's left is four questions: Am I missing anything? Is there anything that I could improve that without raising the price too much, as well as benefit me in the long run for PC gaming? Is this worth the time and price? & finally, Will this be able to support Next-Gen games such as BF4, Watch Dogs, GTA5, etc. EDIT #1 : Also, if anyone could point me to a site where they could pre-build the computer before shipping it, or even just a current pre-built computer, that would be greatly appreciated.

  19. So, today I realized that I have almost no one to play Mario Kart Wii/7 with. I looked around online and found no active groups of people to play with, so I thought 'Why not make a group myself?'. If you play Mario Kart Wii or 7 online, drop by (yes, I made the group on Steam). What I'm planning to do with the group is host races and such, and maybe if we get enough people to join the community I could implement tournaments. I'll also be making a Mario Kart 7 community for the group so members can easily find races with eachother
  20. The game that we are all anticipating to see showcased at E3, and to see more gameplay of since the only features we have seen are how we can play as three characters for the first time ever in Grand Theft Auto in which it will have the styles of San Andreas and Vice City. In where you can fly helicopters, fly in a airplane, skiing, and doing other activities that we couldn't do in the past. We know that Rockstar Games will not disappoint on the series at all. You can play as three characters: Michael, Trevor, and Franklin. There will be a Collector's Edition and Special Edition of the game available only for pre-order only. There will be a huge variety of cars, trucks, bikes, helicopters, planes, ATVs, and jet skis. It will definitely not disappoint with the new activities, mobile, map, and the new open world style. When the game releases on September 17th, what are your expectations and your plans on what you will do in Grand Theft Auto V? That is all, for now. Ciao!
  21. Well, ever since the Uprising DLC was announced I decided to make a blog about it. The Uprising downloadable content is the second map pack that was announced in March and is now available to all Xbox players currently right now and will soon be available for PS3 and PC players next month (May). The reason why we have to wait is because, Microsoft signed a contract with Actvision/Treyarch and it guarantees that Xbox gets all Call of Duty downloadable content first before PS3 and PC players get it. The Uprising DLC includes four diverse multiplayer maps and ''Mob of the Dead'' a new zombies experience to date set in San Francisco's notorious Alcatraz island. Four multiplayer maps: 1. Magma 2. Studio 3. Encore 4. Vertigo So, enjoy the new downloadable content experience! UPDATE: Uprising comes out for PS3 players on May 16th! PC players get it on the same day.
  22. Over the course of time I have worked on maps for the old game called "Doom". In this blog I will update how I am doing, where I am at, etc. For my most recent megawad called: Doomed. For any of you who care. A Youtube video showing the first map can be seen here: The second map will be shown in the next blog update. These maps were made, expecting to be played with the wad "Brutaldoom" although it is not necessary. This wad is what gives all the new guns, graphics, etc. You are required to be able to jump and crouch on these maps. There is nothing fancy like scripts, new textures, etc. All the textures are from the Iwad "Doom 2" and all the guns and monsters are from the wad "Brutaldoom" The exact version of Brutaldoom used in this video is called: brutalgzdoom016b ATM I'm on map 05, with a goal with at least over twenty maps. Expect this to be up in a couple years. Comments and Feedback would be appreciated. (:
  23. Gigachip

    Firsty (PC build too)

Howdy everyone~! I finally decided to start a blog series. Starting today with a computer I worked on over spring break (unfinished still, but I'll be posting continuations, and more). I started at my apt during school, the case was finished at my parents house during spring break. Aimed at a pony theme build. March 21st: the case I bought came in. Decided in doing a Mini-ITX machine for a change. Right after I got it in, I took it apart with drilling the harddrive bay out of the case. Also began sanding down the powder coating. March 25-29th: I begin painting of the PC with metal and plastic primer. doing primers first, followed by 2-3 coats of paint. (White, and Metalic Blue). I also decided to paint my Radeon hd 7970 reference case. Friday I did Clear coats on the parts being exposed. I don't have any of the pics from them getting painted. I told friends on xbl+fb that I was basing the colors on a pony. Didn't want them to see which until it was fully painted. Here it is finished with paint, and the fans to match. will be getting more parts + begin benchmarks on it as I get the rest of the parts. Basically all I have are a HD 7970 + 2600k
  24. And Angel found one! Too bad he has paws and no fingers to use it. But like a friend of mine once said, still easier to use a computer with paws than hooves. Nevertheless, the possibilities are like endless! A few words on the picture itself: As you can see it is a vector. Angel was easy to do, I simply traced him from a scene. However the notebook obviously needed to be done freehand. It wasn't easy but I managed it. It's far from perfect but at least it's something. Comments are welcome!
  25. So I needed some help from some of you PC gamers. I don't know alot about computers and computer parts, I have never owned a proper gaming PC before, so I am ordering one in a few weeks. I am asking you, could these specs run games such as Battlefield 3 and on what settings? -AMD FX-sarjan FX-4170 4x 4.20GHz quad core processor -16GB 1600mhz DDR3 -2000GB (2TB) hard disk -60GB OCZ Agility III SSD -ATI Radeon HD 6950 -Rasurbon power supply ------------------------------------------------------------- Also a discussion thread for PC gamers and everything PC gaming related
