  1. Hey guys, I have 25$ and I'd like to buy a steam game, and I have no idea what to buy, so I come to you guys/girls. :3 Extra info: I mostly play MW2 and TF2 on steam, so preferably the FPS genre but I'm willing to try new games. And, if a game is like 30$ I'll spend the extra 5. Thanks in advance!
  2. I'm considering getting Far Cry 3 tomorrow. Can it run on maximum settings with these specs? OS: Windows 7 Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M Processor: Intel®Core i7-3630QM CPU @2.40 GHz RAM: 8 GB I also want to know if I have to download anything else with the game, like Games For Windows Live or some stupid, useless launcher that just clutters up my system. If that's true, I'll just save myself some time and buy the Xbox version.
  3. Yeah, I decided to make the title of this thread as strange and vague as possible, because why not? What I'm referring to is a fairly little-known computer game which is inexplicably called Powder. It's a one-shot (meaning you die once and it's over) adventure game available for pretty much every computer operating system as well as phones. It's kind of a hard game to explain if you haven't actually played it, but I guess the best way to put it is that it's a dungeon crawler in the purest sense. If you start playing it, you can really easily get sucked into it, and I personally have spent an embarrassing amount of time playing it. So anyway, this thread has two purposes. The first being to see if any of you have played Powder, and to talk about it if you have. The second purpose is just to tell everyone that they should go get this game because it's awesome (and free). You can get the game here I also wanted to mention that Powder can be a very cruel game. Suffice to say, they don't tell you anything. But that's part of what makes it so much fun.
  4. I haven't played it in a good while and I'd love to jump in with a few of you guys tonight. Nothing serious, just for fun! I'm not expecting many replies here since most people play CoD on console primarily, but I would be interested in getting a few usernames down regardless so we can get a group session goin' sometime. I played this game for the first time in months last night and I always get totally pooped on whenever I'm playing team games solo - but I'm sure playing with some of you might even the odds a little, plus it'd be fun! So, interested? Drop me your Steam username here and hopefully we can get a sizeable group together, even if it's only a few people. EDIT: Here's mine. Derp. -Equity
  5. Recently I've been playing the hell out of a game called Hotline Miami. In short, it's a top-down action game about strategic manslaughter. It combines elements from crime, platformer, and stealth games to create an utterly exhilarating and satisfying experience. Every move you make must be carefully planned, but at the same time you need to be able to react to new situations that arise in the blink of an eye. You also wear funny masks. In addition to the actual gameplay, there's a superbly understated story that's slowly exposed between missions. It reflects the protagonist's imperfect mental state, and even subtly introduces sub-plots, often without saying a word. In my opinion, this is destined to become a new indie landmark, just like World of Goo, Braid, and Super Meat Boy before it. It deserves way more exposure than it's been getting so far. So there's all I have to say about that. Has anyone else played this incredible game? Or is there another recent indie game you think needs to be known about? I'd love to hear about it!
  6. I know everypony plays a console made my Microsoft and Sony, or playing online on PC with Steam or Origin so I decided to talk about this topic that really irritates me because people arguing over a profession that makes millions of dollars every year from console and game sales. This could either be a good thing for society or a bad one, so everypony say what you want to say.
  7. I have not seen any topics on this game yet so I thought I should make one. Are you getting farcry 3? What are you looking forward to? Do you like any of the previous games?
  8. So I'm pretty sure it's relatively old now, and while I'm only level 7 so far I can't say it hasn't been fun. I can still imagine it being a lot more fun in a group though! There's some crafting, shooting, genetic mutations and quests that take you across a huge map- fortunately that's what horses and/or vehicles are for. Here's a trailer: I'll be the sorta raider-looking guy with the pet cockroach called Dave, a Steam name of Reaper Splitter and a character name of Rsplitter.
  9. I'm currently looking to upgrade and re-build my gifted PC from my uncle. So far I have come to the conclusion that I will need a bigger motherboard with a faster processor so I can fit my desired GPU (probably an nvidia 550ti) and run fallout without setting everything alight XD Here's what I've come up with, please can any builders in the know about his give me some advice, tips or recommendations: Mother board: CPU: GPU: Probably that 550ti... would like some recommendations here... Again, I would appreciate anyone who can assist me here, this is my first build that I have undertaken by myself and I do not want to mess it up. Danke
  10. (Mod note: this is just something I did for the school newspaper, so I decided, why not post it here? So yeah...oh, and I also don't want this blog to die entirely. Aaaand, I just liek my tl;dr stuffs, even though I doubt anyone'll survive halfway...ehhh just read itttt ;-; ) -- Sonic Generations Review James (not gonna tell my last name okiethxbai .3.) Year: 2011 Publisher: Sega Developer: Sonic Team Platforms: PS3, XBOX 360, PC, 3DS Since 1991, Sega held up their end in the gaming industry with the ever-successful Sonic the Hedgehog series. The company suffered a major loss when their last console, the Dreamcast, was considered outdated thanks to the newer, better technology from its opponents. Through all the hardships they went through, many of their franchises today have survived and are still making new games, but none of them are as significant as Sonic. As their current flagship franchise, it's only natural they'd eventually make a game that reflects back on the amazing history of the series. Generations does exactly that, and more. Released in 2011, the series' twentieth anniversary, Sonic Generations is simply a revival and a look-back of the timeline of the long-running video game franchise. At first, the concept may sound cliché, but this game pulls it off like no other. Famous and iconic environments from certain games in the series return with an impressive visual makeover. From the days of the Genesis, to the Dreamcast, to the present, very important chapters in the story of Sonic are picked to be represented in this "showcase" of the things that made the franchise so powerful. It's good because it's a game that's well-suited for two types of gamers- long-timers who have played Sonic for a very long time who are greeted with sensations of nostalgia and reminiscence with a hint of modern-day graphics and sound. It's equally as good of an experience for those who are new to the series. They can jump right in and learn about the history and heritage of the series. The gameplay has barely evolved since the beginning. Simple, classic get-to-the-finish platforming action, except with modern gameplay enchantments, i.e. similar to more recent Sonic games. And, as it always is, it's a fun, exhilarating, and exciting experience. The sense of speed is as great as it should be, the graphics are nothing short of outstanding. Heck, I'd say the console versions were pushed to their very limit when it came to visuals. All the details of the classic stage revivals fit right in in a present day video game. The plot, a little less-looked into area of video games, is a slight bit questionable, but otherwise it's amazing. It's a bit of a space-time continuum skewer, but really, who cares? It's a video game! Anyway, they very cleverly mix the present day Sonic (known as Modern Sonic) with the Sonic (Classic Sonic) in the game, where they have their own versions of the levels. Modern Sonic's levels play pretty much like today's, combining 2D and 3D platforming, while Classic Sonic's levels look the same, but play like the originals, only 2D side-scrolling levels. Aside from that are optional side missions that you can play to unlock numerous pieces of Sonic heritage. Songs from previous games, developer artwork of older games, those are the main attractions. Also, you can buy upgrades for the individual Sonic's, such as power-ups that make getting through levels easier (in some cases, more fun). Overall, this is easily one of the best Sonic games of all time. They took the concept of reviving the history of the epic franchise, and they made the most out of it. The game looks great, plays great, and is an absolute must-buy for Sonic fans, old and new. Digging deep, it's really hard to find any negatives about it, only for the few minor gameplay glitches. But really, that's not enough to defeat the awesomeness of this classic. Rating (out of 10): 9 (Oh, and no random NASCAR picture this time just cause lazinezz.)
  11. Have anyone Heard about the Black mesa Mod for HL2? It's Released! I've been waiting for years for this to come out and it looks AMAZING! The Mod basically remasters that nostalgic video game we all love, Half Life using valve's source engine, everything from graphics to voice overs, music to art is all updated. The game's storyline is same as the classic half-life, but it only leads up to the chapter Apprehension I think. But Xen will be added as well If you have problems downloading the 7-zip file, use the torrent instead, if it's too hard to drag and drop a couple files and wait for a while, just wait for steam's official release. Have fun!
  12. 13. I made a Guild called Ponies Gonna Pwn. I would like anyone to join, its boring as hell to be the only one to be in a guild. add Mlp Erik and then I'll invite you.
  14. I'd be surprised if this doesn't already exist, sorry if it does! My check wasn't all that thorough. What was your first ever game? Or the game that got you into gaming? I didn't start as retro as I assume many of you do, it was the PS2's Simpsons Hit and Run, followed closely by Timesplitters 2. I think I was 6 years old. 10 years down the line and it's turned to Fallout, Max Payne and TF2. But still Timesplitters 2.
  15. Hello! Seeing as how I have Hughes Net, I wanted to start something. This topic is for posting and discussing what games work with Hughes Net and what ones don't. I saw this on another forum and seeing as how it hasn't been updated in weeks, I thought it was dead, So I decided to bring it over to here! Whenever someone posts a new game / app / whatever, I will update it here, on the Original Post. I shall now start it off! Playable: Unsure: Non-Playable: Also, I'm not so sure that there are allot of people here that have Hughes Net, so I'll do my best to get allot to start it.
  16. Hey I was wondering if Anypony here plays Borderlands on the PC. I play quite frequently in solo games, but its not as fun without having 1 to 3 more team mates to go through the game with. It works online even if you have a pirated copy. For those interested in Playing a Co-op game together from the start of the game let me know. I have Borderlands with all 4 DLC's and I have the 1.4.1 patch. You would have to be running the same I believe. and my Gamespy account that I play with is Tukr21 I play fair, stay with my teammates, and share the loot with others. Generosity is key in gameplay ANYWAYS, Hit me up if you are interested. =] P.S. i'll be making a character specifically for (online play only) for this run through with any fellow bronies in here, so I level up WITH my teammates.
