  1. The tradition could be only one day, or it could be each day for 24 days until Christmas arrives! It could also be each day during the week of Christmas! So, what are your traditions during these 24 days til' Christmas? Here are my traditions: Personally, I always had a marathon, watching all the episodes of my favorite TV show until the New Year's or Christmas. Last year I missed though because I was in college. This personal tradition of mine started out while back, with Transformers Prime. I re-watched every single episode of that. Then my interests changed and my favorite TV show was "How to Train Your Dragon", so I watched that instead. Recently, it has become MLP FiM, and has been that way ever since. At first, there wasn't that many seasons for me to re-watch, only season 4 was available that year. Then season 5 next year. I stayed on season 5 the next year because I couldn't get season 6 yet. However, now that there are 8 seasons, I'm probably not going to be able to re-watch each one of them so I'll just re-watch my favorites. Another tradition I have is religious. It's my church's tradition, where one candle is lit each week until the Sunday on the week of Christmas. Each candle symbolizes something - there is the candle of hope, the candle of peace, and so forth. It's a little something my church does, I have no idea where it came from. I have another tradition, a family tradition. It's that "elf on the shelf" thing. My mom and dad do it for my younger siblings, and they do it everyday 24 days until Christmas.
  2. Well, I guess I'll get the ball rolling early this year! So, here's the thing, I guess. Every year, since I started doing it last year, I will be starting a topic here on MLPForums for a BronyCAN discussion. It'll be my little "thing" I guess. Anyways, since we're still REALLY early into the year, and BronyCAN is still half a year away, what are everyone's thoughts? I mean, last year was quieter than 2015, and that could be realized by the fact that it was the same weekend as AniRevo and Anime Evolution, two of the biggest conventions out there in the world (IN regards to animation. ComiCon is still larger by far). Anything in particular those of you who might consider going are looking forward to? (I might not be able to go this year, simply because lack of job means lack of funds, and that means lack of an ability to unveil what I was planning to unveil.)
  3. This is a poster that I did for my Design Principles class. My teacher really liked it. Personally, I felt that it was a rather bold move on my part. The pony was made in generalzoi's Pony Creator game in deviantart. the background, the text, the fiddler character, and the star were all made in Adobe Illustrator. The assignment was to make an ethics poster with a political message. I figured I would use this as an opportunity to show the rise of the brony community and their message of tolerance and friendship against the tyranny of traditional stereotypes. For the fiddler man getting bucked, I got the idea from the musical "Fiddler on the Roof" which dealt with the issue of progress vs tradition. Many of the older characters in the village are loyal to their traditions, regardless of how oppressive they may be. While many of the younger characters are acknowledging the ever changing world and want to change with the times for the better. So I figured I'd use the fiddler character as a symbol of the oppressive traditions and stereotypes that hold others down, getting bucked by the pony that symbolizes progress and inclusiveness that we bronies are trying to teach against the oppressive traditional stereotypes that those who hate bronies are trying to maintain. Now I'm not against traditions in general. I respect a lot of traditions that are worthy of respect. But unfortunately there are some traditions that just hold others down and don't benefit anyone. I'm not trying to offend anyone here. As I said this was a particularly bold project that I did. I hope you like it and you understand where I'm coming from.
  4. I personally dislike tradition. IMO, it keeps generations of families from moving forward. For example, some families take religion to a level where you can consider them as extremist, also known as extreme right wingers (this isn't picking on religion in any way BTW, I just gave an example). And some families have the mindset that their children MUST marry people from their own race... which leads to arranged marriages, and such. Don't like this example at all. What do you think?
