  1. Here's what I found today on a local press website: He beat two men to steal toys for little girls Wednesday, March 26th, 2014 (15:52) There was a fight about... little pink horses in Bielsko Biała, Poland. The policemen caught 28-year-old man who beat two other younger men and stole their toys. For mugging he can go to jail even for 12 years. {This is surely canard. Even rapists don't get such serious punishments here.} The event took place during the convention of "My Little Pony" fans. Young men were exchanging their toys and gadgets with each other. The 28-years-old saw them. He beated a 16-years-old and a 22-years-old and then robbed them. He stole their jackets and several pink toys. {What is it about their obsession about "pink"? ;P} Thanks to the city monitoring the policemen were able to identify the culprit. He was captured in his apartment in Mysłowice, Poland. He was very surprised. {Yeah, I'm surprised too: Polish police actually caught someone? That fast? For stealing pony toys? Impossibru!} He already heard the charges. For mugging he may spend up to 12 years in jail. A portion of the stolen objects has been already recovered and returned to their rightful owners. {Good for them.} Original source (in Polish):,nId,1373469
  2. Article: A public park in Chicago, IL has been literally covered in razor blades. Someone glued one dozen blades to monkey bars, slides, etc. After one child was cut, he told his father. After investigation, the father called the police. Now, police are looking for whoever did this. So, what are your thoughts on this story? I think whoever did this is absolutely sick and twisted. Yea, I don't like kids, but I would NEVER do such a thing! This person needs to be sent to jail.
  3. Well guys... the road to graduate studies has passed one hurdle. I've been given a conditional acceptance to University of Toronto's Graduate Pharmacology Program. I just received it in the mail today after months of stress of where I'll go after undergraduate studies and moments of worthlessness after being rejected from medical school. It'll put me one step closer to living my dream of being involved with the pharmaceutical industry when I complete my education. Now you may wonder what a conditional acceptance is. This is where the next hurdle comes along. I need to find a supervisor to work with on their research on drugs. It's huge because there's a whole new world to find when it comes to drug research. There's so many unsolved and new problems we face when it comes to removing drugs safely from our bodies and ensuring their effectiveness while minimizing their side effects. I'm sure many of you have experienced someone who underwent chemotherapy with drastic consequences. I want to be among the researchers to help alleviate the side effects of such therapies by better understanding how they operate in our bodies. Finding a supervisor will not only fund my education through grants, but also provide experience through which I can operate drug research at the industrial level. If I don't find a supervisor though, the admission is nullified... The most amazing thing about my acceptance is that the University of Toronto is among the best reputed and established universities in the world, and I'm just delighted at the fact I got accepted at such a competitive program in pharmacology. Now begins the search for a supervisor who fits well with my research interests in improving drug efficiency while also being open to potential areas in cancer and/or neuroscience research... I passed a big hurdle getting accepted, but now I have another one to pass... plus, I have other supervisors to talk with from other universities, so if I can't find one in U of T, I can always look back to the other universities . At the end of the day though... wish me luck .
  4. The son-in-law of an elderly Tennessee couple has been charged with murder after the two were killed when a parcel bomb exploded at their house. State officials say Richard Parker, 49, killed lawyer Jon Setzer, 74, and his wife Marion, 72. Jon Setzer was found dead at his Lebanon home after the bomb exploded on Monday. Marion was critically injured and died on Wednesday in hospital. Mr Parker was also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon. On Thursday, Jeff Fulton of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) told reporters the parcel "was placed, it was not shipped". "This remains on ongoing investigation and we want to let everybody known the reward is still out there, if there is any additional information," Mr Fulton said. The Tennessean newspaper reported Mr Parker was being held in lieu of a $1m (£600,000) bond. Mr Parker ran Legacy Restorations, a historic restorations firm, and lived in a house just behind the Setzers. He was convicted of arson in 1993 and sentenced to four months of probation, according to court records, the Associated Press news agency reported. Authorities have not released any information about a motive for the alleged crime. Oh God, what is the world we live in like these days. People killing people with parcel bombs and a boy who tried to hang himself because he was bullied for being a brony. And recent floods in my country are occuring too.
  5. A Danish zoo put down a 2 year old Giraffe and fed it to the zoo's carnivores. Visitors including young children were invited to watch the carnivores eat the animal. News Articles: Giraffes being my favorite animals hearing this almost made me cry. I was curious to hear other opinions and maybe raise awareness about this zoo's terrible act. So anyways, thoughts, opinions?
  6. So regarding the recent Carnival Cruise Liner fire problem, I decided to make a thread about it. Have you ever been on a cruise, and what do you think about them? Does this affect your thoughts on cruising? I for one would be fine going on a cruise ship or ocean liner, but not necessarily Carnival.
  7. Hello one and all! Just posting this blog post to celebrate the publishing of the last of four recently completed chapters for "Batmare Begins" and give ya'll some news about what comes next. As it now stands, the fic is 6 chapters and +55,000 words long. This'll be the last chapter released for a little while. I'm busy getting underway writing Chapter 7, and even though I'm also getting started with a new part time job, with the holidays coming to a close things should be a little less crazy from now on, so hopefully I'll be able to devote a consistent and fair amount of time to writing on a regular basis. To my old readers, I want to again thank you for all of your patience during this 8 month hiatus; to my new readers, I want to thank you for giving my story a chance. I hope as my story develops that it does not disappoint, and from the bottom of my heart, thank you one and all for your support! To anyone who has yet to check my story out and would like to, you'll find the link to the story itself below. As I've said before, I started writing this fic as a way to give back to both MLP Forums and the brony community as a whole for bringing the show, so many new friends, and thousands of pieces of amazing artwork, fanfiction, music, and videos into my life. I promise you, it's not as goofy, predictable, or ridiculous a story as the premise sounds like; I've tried to put together a serious, dramatic, and original story here, and to anyone who decides to check it out, I hope you enjoy the read! Merry Belated Christmas everypony, and Happy-Late-By-A-Few-Days-New-Year!!!
  8. Here's a bit of backstory to the current events: On July 30, 2009, The New York Times reported that Ortiz and then-teammate Manny Ramirez were among a group of over 100 major league players on a list compiled by the federal government, that allegedly tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs during 2003 survey testing. Five months before the Times allegations surfaced, Ortiz stated in an interview that players who tested positive for steroids should be suspended for an entire season. Before the Red Sox's game that afternoon, Ortiz declined to comment on the report, saying, "I'm not talking about that anymore." Afterwards, he confirmed that he'd been told that he was on the list and promised to speak with the media once he "[got] to the bottom of" the matter. Ten days later, Ortiz held a press conference before a game at Yankee Stadium and denied ever buying or using steroids and suggested the positive test might have been due to his use of supplements and vitamins at the time. When asked which supplements he had been taking, Ortiz said he did not know. Ortiz was accompanied at the press conference by the general counsel of the Major League Baseball Players Association. Because the list of players was seized as part of a government investigation and is currently under court-ordered seal pending the outcome of litigation, Weiner said the players union was unable to provide Ortiz with any details about his test result, including what substance he tested positive for. On the same day, the Major League Baseball Players Association issued a statement pointing out that because of several factors, any player appearing on the list compiled by the federal government in 2003 did not necessarily test positive for performance enhancing drugs. Among those factors were that the total number of players said to be on the list far exceeded the number of collected specimens that tested positive. In addition, there were questions raised regarding the lab that performed the testing and their interpretation of the positive tests. Also, the statement pointed out that certain legal supplements that were available over the counter at the time could possibly cause a positive test result. Read more here. Has Ortiz put his slippery past behind him? Evidence suggests NO:
  9. So there was this article published on Gizmodo yesterday that I found... simply exciting. In 2017, the city of Astana, Kazakhstan's capital, will look like something out of a sci-fi movie. Not only will this Astana get to host the World Expo, but it will be completely green, embracing the tenets of the Third Industrial Revolution, harnessing the clean energy given to us by the elements themselves. I don't know about you guys, but I'm really, really excited about this. If Astana's a success, maybe it'll lead the world in a direction that's less fossil-fuel-loving and self-destructive to the planet. What do you guys think?
  10. I could really do with some decent sleep right now myself! Not a lot happening this week, I'd imagine it's because the massive SPIEL convention is happening in Essen next week and we'll be seeing loads of news and new games! In the mean time below the break you'll be able to find morphing ships, aliens, gold digging and mountain climbing! Read more »

  12. Click the link below. Be sure and have you speakers on. And don't forget to click the picture in the article. It's probably the best one I've seen as of right now. It really is worth a read. I hope you don't plan on going to bed....
  13. Well this now makes things interesting I suppose, after all since the younger audience is what Hasbro is probably marketing to here more than anything. And now with the parents of said younger audience not happy with what they've seen of it so far, perhaps this might change some things. Thoughts?
  14. Hello, several people on here that regularly tuned in to my analysis! I'm overjoyed to announce that the secret project I mentioned before is complete- an original analysis, written by yours truly, has been featured on The Round Stable. For those unaware, The Round Stable is a pony-centric blog that specializes not only in news, but also in analysis and editorials. Over the span of the last couple months, I've been working with the editors in order to get my writing up to snuff to be put out there into the Interwebz, for all pony fans to enjoy and ruminate on. The article is titled The Pinkie Pie Principle: Humor From Characterization. It deals with how Friendship is Magic utilizes humor to aid in building the characters, but also how, with Pinkie Pie in particular, humor and characterization can be used in less-than-ideal ways. I'd like to thank any regular readers I may have garnered since I began Pretty Pony Analysis. Without this outlet for my thoughts, I never would have taken the leap and contacted The Round Stable. As for the future of this blog, I hope you'll all be pleased to hear that I'll be posting here semi-regularly once again. Obviously, not every little bit of analysis I think of is worth the effort to put through the editing process, and not everything I analyze is really in-depth enough to be published. So this blog will function much like it has; my analysis and thoughts will go here, with my more extensive and in-depth writings saved just in case. At this point, I'm not a full-on contributor at The Round Stable, but it is up in the air at this point. Depending on how things go, I may or may not be admitted to the team. While it is far, far too early to jump to the conclusion that I'll become a regular contributor there, I can assure you that it is not outside the realm of plausibility at this point. So, there ya have it. Thanks for the reading my ramblings on this little corner of the Internet, and I hope you'll continue. I have plenty of ideas for things to write about. So if you enjoy my writings, why not come along? We'll see together where this all ends up. Yours, Metaright
  15. News Team is not taking any New Writers currently and will be producing it's first news "print" in the future. Please stay tuned!! (: Hey so I was talking to Feld0 a while ago, and I never got around to suggesting this yet to everyone but now here it is: my news team suggestion. Let me just clear some things before I extrapolate... What's the News Team Exactly?: Well it's a team or group of dedicated writers that would write on current topics ranging from interviews with different members of the staff to questions or interviews about changes in mlpforums communicating directly with staff, to issues in the pony world, to real life issues/problems or interesting things. Who is the News Team Exactly?: Well I stated above it would be all the dedicated and passionate writers of mlpforums. There would also be a need for translators. How Would the News Team Communicate/Operate?: Over skype mostly, eventually though I'm hoping (if this gets enough support) maybe a special section in the mlpforums? For right now it's just an idea so it will just remain as such until there is enough support. Please tell me your thoughts or ideas on this. I would love to get to hear everyone's take on this idea. Though it's an idea now this "idea" can grow into something big and helpful for the whole forum. If there are any snags, suggestions or problems with this idea please feel free to speak up constructive criticism is welcome and I would love to get support for this team. 16. I found saw this link while I was at an imageboard; a My Little Pony news coverage. Pretty interesting seeing what the article covered. Here is the link so you can see it for yourself and get an opinion on it.
  17. A bunch of new stuff has been revealed so far from the 2013 Toy Fair! Some of the most exciting things are: Blind bag Fluttershy WITH HER OWN MANE! Brushable Derpy More unique blind bag molds (probably for new character sets) What looks like another tin from Enterplay Pictures of this stuff (and a lot more) can be found here: So, what are you most excited about?
  18. I fail to see a topic about this, yet. What's wrong with you people? Probably too fixated on freaking out about certain season finales happening tomorrow to post topics about this stuff. Witnessing a sonic boom from a meteor going through the upper atmosphere would be fairly bad-ass, just sayin'. Just stand in the middle of field where there's no glass or doors to hit you. You may get knocked off your feet if you're close enough but at least you wouldn't get skewed.
  19. So, I bring another question involving Politics, do you like John Stossel? Who is he? He has his own show called "Stossel" on Fox News and Fox Business, and he is a Libertarian who talks on al sorts of current issues with other contributors. Me? I feel he is a very smart man, and I watch his show anytime I see it on. Though one may say it is because we share ideals, he is very good at proving his points. So what do you think?
  20. To date, there have been no overt official announcements about Season 4, but there is evidence it is coming. Being prone to worrying about such things, I'm hoping we will collectively be able to track down authoritative news about Season 4 and learn as much as we can as soon as we can. Here's what I've found so far... DHX Media Financial Reports As a publicly traded company, DHX is required to disclose information regarding its financial condition and quarterly performance. Though the reports are usually focused on the big picture, some details are made available through them, although oftentimes they are just a few words in a large report. In the case of Season 4, I've seen references to recent DHX Media financial reports on the Wikipedia List of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic episodes page and the TV Tropes Recap: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic page. Here are the links to the reports themselves: DHX Media Fiscal 2012 Management Discussion and Analysis (PDF) DHX MEDIA REPORTS 1st QUARTER RESULTS AND SALE OF CAILLOU SEASON FOUR TO PBS KIDS Not an awful lot to go on, but since financial reports are legal documents used by investors to make decisions that can involve large amounts of money, errors or inaccuracies in them can lead to lawsuits, so they tend to be carefully checked before publication. Thus I'm reasonably sure we can expect Season 4 to come our way next fall. However, that's still not a lot to go on, and I'm sure there are other authoritative sources of information about the show's future I don't know about -- and probably some really obvious ones at that. So if anyone does have any verifiable information about Season 4, please be sure to share it with us!
  21. So, i hear allot of people hate Fox News. BUT even though I am a Brony, I actually... *Takes deep breath.* everyone, I have kept this in the closet for a long time now, please don;t laugh at me, but, I watch, Fox News... Well, reasons? I don't like CNN NBC ABC and I like Bill O'Rielly and a few other people there, but I can't take "The Five" seriously. I mean, I will watch other news networks fro time to time, but I prefer Fox over them. YOUR THOUGHTS! GIVE THEM TO ME!
  22. I'm sort of interested to see if you guys are the same as me, because there's a lot of media stuff I'm totally not up to speed on. One thing is the news. I never read it at home, not even online. Strangely, if I see a free newspaper lying around at work or a friend's house, I'll take a look, but clicking a mouse is too much work for me. xD Having a journalism degree, I of all people should be good at keeping up with current events, but I just don't want to. Another thing is video games. Even when I was engaged with gaming I was always about five years behind the curve in both systems and titles, and since I abruptly stopped buying anything after the PlayStation 2, I'm totally behind. Never played Grand Theft Auto, never played Call of Duty, never played Elder Scrolls...which I'm totally fine with. I didn't want to buy any of the current systems for various reasons (money being one common factor), and the 7th gen had so much great stuff that I didn't see any practical way to improve on it. Music, TV and movies, same story. I have never heard a Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber song, or if I did I was completely unaware of it. I don't care about 99% of current shows, My Little Pony being the obvious exception. And I go to the theater about as often as I do my tax forms. So what stuff do you not follow?
  23. Yesterday, a news report, aired on my local TV station, talked all about bronies! It turns out, it was a really positive outlook on the community, and did a very nice job showing why we love the show, and its fandom so much. It features my local meet-up group, "Bronies of Phoenix" from Arizona, USA. Unfortunatly, I was not at the meet-up, nor in the video. Regardless, check it out for some good media coverage!
  24. Hello guys. It's Demiurge here with another meaningless blog entry. I'm just going to post random things here. BORING NEWS School's starting on Tuesday. I don't know how much free time I'll have on my hands, it being my senior year in high school (which is the most important year in Greece seeing as if the grades I get this year will decide which Universities I'll be able to apply to). Anyway, I'm going to enjoy my final free weekend in the best way possible.... surfing the internet all day and playing Minecraft and/or CoD: Black Ops (my psn gamertag is MapaFapa just so you know). I also got a new wallpaper for my laptop. Checkie! NOT SO BORING NEWS SimGretina is nearly finished his album featuring 20 remixes to his own track "Octavia's Secret". You guys have got to check it out if you haven't already. The Living Tombstone has finished his 3 year military service (lucky guy, I haven't even started mine yet) and now has more time to work on his own album and of course, please his fans. NEED FEEDBACK I'm thinking of turning this blog into a review blog where I (you guessed it) review things. I need ideas on what I should start with? Fanfics? Songs/videos? Pony related? Non-pony related? Please give your opinion. Video of the day That's all for now! See you guys later! -Demiurge
  25. Disclaimer: I did not see one. This is where you post those articles online that make you go "WTF". Let's begin shall we? It's one thing to stage a do-it-yourself renovation on a table, mirror or painting found deep in the weeds of a yard sale. It's quite another to attempt a repair job on a one-of-a-kind 19 th century fresco by the Spanish painter Elias Garcia Martinez with a few broad brushstrokes. Such was the lesson learned by an elderly member of the Santuario de Misericodia church in Borja, in northeastern Spain. Her handiwork, or lack thereof, was discovered after the painter's granddaughter donated the work, "Ecce Homo," to the archive of religious paintings housed at the Centro de Estudios Borjano, also in Borja. When officials from the center went to examine the work at the church a few weeks ago, they found it was not as Martinez had left it, the U.K.'s Telegraph reported. The last photo taken of the artwork before any damage was done, in 2010, showed Martinez's intricate brush strokes around the face of Jesus. A photo taken in July by center officials for a catalog of regional religious art showed the painting splattered by white marks, possibly the work of the woman trying to remove paint. The final photo, taken this month after Martinez's relative donated the work, showed broad and thick layers of paint now covering important details in the work, such as the crown of thorns on Jesus' head. While not a good day for art historians, local officials said the restoration attempt by the woman, said to be in her 80s, was not malicious, just misguided. Juan Maria Ojeda, the city councilor in charge of cultural affairs, told the Spanish newspaper El Pais that the woman turned herself in and admitted causing the damage when she realized it had "gotten out of hand." He added that the woman, who was not identified, attempted to restore the work with "with good intentions." The U.K.'s Independent reported the church and center are now trying to assess the damage to the painting and determine whether a professional can restore Martinez's work. Ojeda added that the woman herself would meet with restorers to explain what kind of materials she used to help them undo the damage. There was no figure given on the value of the work, said to hold more sentimental than artistic value because Martinez's family is known in the local community.
