  1. Despite the many jokes about her being a potential Edgelord (of which I have made a few of myself), I really do like Tempest's design, and hope she turns out be a magnificent character in the upcoming movie. Anyone else grown a liking to miss Tempest Shadow? Though I still think the broken horn is a bit much...
  2. WIP A Perfect Pair - Gone but not forgotten I'm including both of these characters together since they are indeed the perfect pair. I'm a hopeless romantic who was lucky enough to live a great romance and this couple is hooves down the greatest depiction of romantic love in FiM. This is as close to a holy grail OTP that the show can ever hope to achieve. Their story is as epic as the anticipation of finally seeing them depicted as characters, fully realized. The writers did not disappoint when crafting their love story. Many of us have waited years for this moment. I hope this topic will stand as a way to showcase them as a couple and also individually. A thread to remember them by in a sense. "A moment in our lives, a lifetime in our hearts."
  3. I just have to say, Autumn Blaze is the sweetest Kirin out there, with so much depth and also a great voice! Kirins are the best creatures in the MLP universe.. In my opinion! I'm in love. Autumn Blaze deserves a Fan Club. <33 Give her all the love she deserves!
  4. So that scene when Twilight snaps at Pinkie... I keep seeing A LOT of people saying that the scene bugs them. I figured it's worth discussing. Think about it; Twilight DOES NOT DO WELL with FAILING or F@#&ing things up. Now add on top of that the fact the princesses are stone and it seems more likely by the minute that she's going to be next. Then bye bye Equestria. She also really doesn't know what to do anymore at that point in the movie. As their journey has been going on, friendship seems more and more to be an Equestria only thing. So she's backed into a corner and now it seems like her friends are starting to go against her too... BOOM- Involuntary magic reflex. I found the scene fine- But I actually think they could have gone a little further. There could have been more of a magic buildup. She could have been walking more towards Pinkie (with Pinkie crouching down more) and then when she was just about to "zap" her, Rarity could have stepped in, forming a magic shield or something and then yelling at Twilight. I think it would have taken the scene up a notch. I don't think it would have really "realistically" (aka beyond the TV Y rating) been out of character for Twilight given the circumstances. I also think it would have been an even more powerful scene when Twilight realized what almost happened. Too Dark? So what did you think of the scene? Did they go too far? Did you think it was fine? Should they have handled it differently?
  5. @Shimmering Sparkler was the first of us to see the film. He deserves credit for this general review. His thread was locked so I can't quote it easily. But these are his thoughts. There. This community thread will exist to give your own impressions of the film, post third party reviews, and discuss general elements of the film and each other's ideas. Just as we have done for years with the Equestria Girls Series.
  6. Note: Please keep all content and discussion not officially published by Hasbro under the "spoiler" tag, and don't link to or paste leaked assets. The episode was first announced on Sweden's Nickelodeon (and will air in Denmark and Norway that same day), but will air in Australia in September and the U.S. in October. More to come in the coming weeks. Title: School Raze, Parts 1 & 2 Air Dates: Nickelodeon (Sweden, Denmark, Norway): August 28 (6:25pm EST, Part 1) August 29 (6:25pm EST, Part 2) Boomerang (Australia): September 7 (6:30pm EST, Part 1) September 8 (6:30pm EST, Part 2) Disc. Family (U.S.): October 13. Part 1: 11am EST Part 2: 11:30am EST Writers: Part 1: Nicole Dubuc Part 2: Josh Haber Synopsis: Part 1: When the magic of Equestria mysteriously begins to fail, Twilight leads her friends on a quest for answers, leaving the School of Friendship open to attack from a dangerous mastermind. Part 2: While Twilight and the rest of the Mane Six try to escape Tartarus, Cozy Glow furthers her plot to take over the School of Friendship with only Twilight's students and the CMC's to stop her! Extra Note: This is the Season 8 finale! A user on EQD, Kuco, is planning to stream the event. Also, from @Jeric: Video links (SendVid): Part 1: Part 2:
  7. Are there little moments in the show that you love? Either visually or audio? Some of the faces pulled are great, and some of the landscapes are just fantastic. Here's a couple of mine: Trixie just saying 'teacup' over and over again in the most excited, squeaky voice. '"Teacup! Teacup, teacup, teacup! Teeeeeacup!" Princess Luna stroking the guard goose sitting on her lap, judging everyone else in the room. I like to think the guard geese are absolutely hostile to everyone but her. "Sis-terrrr, ANOTHER false alarm by Shining Armour's GUARD GEESE" I don't know why, the inflections slay me Sunset Shimmer automatically trying to 'stand' properly on her hind legs when arriving back in Equestria before remembering she walks on all fours now
  8. WARNING: DISCUSSION OF DROPPED MOVIE CONCEPTS AHEAD!! ... So the idea of the villain being some lost forgotten brother of the Royal Sisters called Cosmo (Cosmos?) was initially floated before finally settling on the Storm King/Tempest due. I admit, I get a kick out of the idea of introducing a never-mentioned brother, as I just imagine the epic meltdowns from very unreasonable bronies and those that take the canon waaaaaay too seriously. Generally, would I have liked it? Not really, I wish they had just kept the Sisters as the only alicorns and made Cadance a Pegasus Princess and Twilight a Unicorn Princess, and later find an Earth Princess. But would I have liked to have seen a male alicorn, if they had decided on that design? Heck yeah! Would I have liked it in the main MLP show? Again, not really. What about you? How would you have reacted to a new, secret (and evil) brother for Celestia and Luna? Do you think the fandom would have had a meltdown? Twilight: How could you have had a brother I didn't know about?!? Luna: You're one to talk Twilight: ... okay, well, yes, you have me there. But still!! I know what Celestia had for breakfast 359 days ago!! It was toast with marmalade and blueberry jam!! Celestia: ... Backing away, backing away slowly now
  9. I've been doing some research regarding if Luster Dawn is the daughter of Starlight Glimmer & Sunburst. Recently there was an image that was posted on Derpibooru that I found interesting. source: https://derpibooru.org/images/2341655?q=starlight+glimmer%2C+sunburst I first took a glance at this on Instagram - it looked accurate to me but I didn't actually believed it. But when I looked at it again, I began to wonder,... maybe it is possible. Sometimes characters may look identical but aren't technically related according to the writers, just like how Wind Sprint and Twilight Sparkle almost look alike, some fans thought they were related but this turned out to be false - of course. Although it may not be possible, but I could explain this with science and genetics. There's quite enough details in the article already from the picture above, so I don't think I need to add anything else to that. Anyways... While it was never mentioned in the lore, we can assume that Luster Dawn is the offspring of Starlight Glimmer (Dominant) and Sunburst (Recessive), since Luster's cutie mark is more closer resembling to Sunburst's cutie mark that would mean Luster has carried most genetic traits from Sunburst. There is a slight percentage of this happening, genes however are responsible to structure cells in the body, and in those cells are characteristics that were inherited from it's sub-ordinance, which in other words comes from their parents. source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punnett_square We can use this graph as an example, to determine the outcome for the traits that would carry out to Luster Dawn. There is a 25% chance of getting affected by any upcoming conditions from their parents, it's like flipping a coin, a 50/100 percent chance of receiving those traits. If you want to learn more about genetics and heredity, I recommend you watch a crash course video of biology. Heredity: Crash Course Biology #9 This should be helpful if you need to refresh your memory on genetics or maybe you don't know about heredity. Although, it has been pointed out by the writers that Luster is not related to Starlight nor Sunburst in any way. "Josh Haber and Jim Miller have disagreed whether either Starlight Glimmer or Sunburst are related to Luster Dawn; Haber implied they may be, but Miller said he felt it would not make sense for the daughter of the heads of the School of Friendship, who are also personal friends of Twilight Sparkle, to have such an anti-friendship attitude and have little idea as to who Twilight and her friends are. However, Miller ultimately said it is up for fans to decide." source: Luster Dawn MLP Wiki Fandom Even though they just clarified that they disapprove the idea, they did mentioned that fans can decide - but of course not saying I would go out of my way into what is considered to be fanon as canon even if the theorist was being persuasive. But whether you believe in this theory or have something else in mind, I'll leave that up to you to decide. ...but remember, that's just My Little Theory. Thanks for stopping by!
  10. A new season means new characters and that means new fan clubs! So why not have one about the adorable little Changeling Ocellus? I mean, what's not to love about her? She's adorable, shy, a huge bookworm, and did I mention adorable?
  11. [i'm not forcing you change the way to think and feel about the said character you like.] [No, I'm not talking about the real life heroes like ones in the military, I mean the fictional ones ,even in the MLP universe.] Heroes or anyone that holds supernatural or abnormal capabilities and abilities could pose a danger, cause to me it's a little unwise to let the said person have such power with no way to keep them in check. One example would be superman, the man of steel with much higher limits than anyone, at least from my perception. Twilight is a nice, pure, and a strong leader like shown in the show, but what she is able to do gives me thoughts that says someone needs to keep her in check and same goes for the other princesses. Their government is similar to that of a monarchy at appears that way and that means giving virtually everything to one entity. It doesn't go down to reputation the way I see it, to me it's more of "It's a possibility" or a "just in case" kind of scenario. You've all seen what you or what she is able to do, story wise at least. Wouldn't hurt to at least keep an eye on her like that. First impressions could fool anyone, like how sans was able to hide his true abilities unless needed and same goes for papyrus. The prophets of the covenant work very similar as monarchs, so you can already see how it works, but in Halo 5 [spoiler Alert] Cortana is granted to a great amount of power from these new weapons made by the forerunners. It was said to be a "Imperial Peace" and from what is shown the UNSC see her as a threat now and what's a little funny to me is that Master Chief was the first to see it. I guess it all comes down to, "there needs to be balance in all this" If you have a fictional character on how they could be a threat then tell me. It is your decision and your decision alone on how you think about this.
  12. Maybe I'm just being overly cynical, but I'm feeling plenty of anxiety over how season 6 has started. The mane five have collectively never received any level of praise or reward that has matched or outweighed that of Twilight---the obvious proof being that she's an alicorn princess while they are not. While not particularly fair, we can accept this because Twilight is the central character in a group of mains. Twilight has also arguably done the most friendship-related work to get where she is. But even if I accept that, far too often does it feel like the mane five hold only a mere fraction of Twilight's importance to the show, and this has particularly evident in the milestone episodes which begin and end each season. For better or worse, these milestone episodes are ultimately the most important episodes of the show---the vast majority of changes in the status quo are borne from them. In general, these are the episodes that best display the show's themes and often end with the mane six overcoming some baddie through friendship magic and a whole lot of platitudes. But season 5's finale barely included them, and instead their only purpose was simply showing the viewers how much worse off their alternate lives were, just for the sake of raising the stakes. And the premiere of season 6 barely treated them any better, as they were given roles that could be considered even less than secondary. They could have easily been assisting Twilight with finding a spell or something else, but instead Haber thought that the best purpose that they could possibly serve in a two-parter was simply telling a group of idiotic ponies to get to shelter....and that's about it. So just to clarify, the mane five have played almost no role whatsoever in two milestone episodes in a row, and have instead been directly relegated into the background to make way for the characters who actually are important. So....what does this mean, exactly? What exactly does the fact that they can be so unimportant to two-parter episodes say about their status as main characters? Are they that worthless now? Are they now not only playing second fiddle to Twilight, but also Starlight as well? And after five long seasons, do they really deserve to be shoved aside in favor of a recently-reformed villain who has come nowhere even close to earning what they've earned? When can we expect things will get better for them? When exactly will the milestone episodes need them again? And lastly, if the mane five are no longer really needed for the milestone episodes, what exactly is there that still makes them main characters? It certainly isn't the fact that they have their own focus episodes, because the CMC do as well. I suppose there is the still the possibility of a season-long arc like there was for seasons 4 and 5 that includes them, but how much will Starlight's own arc as a student overshadow that? ^ How long before something like this happens? When the mane five are only present to serve the plot as magical batteries to those who are more important than they are? In any case, though I feel that these are perfectly legitimate questions to be asking, I am willing to wait and see how season 6 goes on to treat them. After all, I've been proven wrong before where Twilight was concerned.
  13. -WELCOME TO SOMNAMBULA FAN CLUB- Long ago, the once-unnamed village fell under siege by an evil Sphinx that demanded most of their crops as the tribute. To keep the poor villagers from giving up hope, Somnambula used what little she had to give them food. Prince Hisan, the son of the pharaoh, was so moved by Somnambula's compassion that he stood up to the sphinx to free the villagers from her tyranny. However, the sphinx captured Hisan and told the pharaoh that she would only set him free if someone solved her riddle. Somnambula volunteered to try and solve the Sphinx's riddle: "I shine brightest in the dark. I am there but cannot be seen. To have me costs you nothing. To be without me costs you everything." Somnambula correctly answers "hope", enraging the sphinx. Fearing that the sphinx would go back on her promise to release Hisan, Somnambula asks for another challenge and tells the sphinx to leave the kingdom forever if she completes it. The Sphinx challenges Somnambula to walk across a bridge to Hisan—blindfolded and without the use of her wings. Guided by Hisan's voice and the power of hope, Somnambula succeeds, and the sphinx flies off into a rage. The pharaoh replaces Somnambula's pearls with a string of glowpaz as thanks for saving his son, and glowpaz became the village's symbol of hope from then on. RULES Rules of this thread;-Do not post pictures of other ponies in this thread (except the images with other ponies including Somnambula). 14. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NgvGSp7bRrE The title: Reboxing with Spike. I did not expect this – at all!
  15. I was thinking about a new way to reform a villain. Thinking of this, to expand the subject, Do you think the show's moral that there is the ultimate ideal truth and using force to rectify villains who doesn't fit is right? Do you think The Elements of Harmony is kinda like Clockwork Orange? Is using the elements are a violation against free will to choose morality? Can we trust The Elements since it was created by flawed mortal ponies?
  16. Spoilers from The Last Crusade! I also kinda feel similar about Spike's wings. If Spike was never gonna fly, I could have lived with that. Some ponies fly, some don't. I would accept if some dragons just don't have wings. (and we have seen him physically grow two times without wings, so it's not hard to picture) It didn't matter if he ever flies or not, just like Scootaloo not being able to fly. The show couldn't stand any longer for unanswered questions, and just gave him wings with a not so compelling story wholely made for that. I feel similar about lot more things in the show. And if the show is going to fill the obvious blanks, I wish they did it better, or not touch it at all because some blanks aren't meant to be filled. I don't dislike The Last Crusade or think it is a bad episode, but it could have been done better with better directions, and most importantly I'm curious what people think of this. What do you think?
  17. Note: Please keep all content and discussion not officially published by Hasbro under the "spoiler" tag, and don't link to or paste leaked assets. The episode was first announced on Zap2It. More to come as September approaches. Title: Road to Friendship (aka, On the Road to Friendship) Airtimes: Disc. Family/U.S.: September 1, 11:30am EST Boomerang/AU: August 17, 6:30pm EST Writer(s): Josh Haber Synopsis: When Trixie is invited to bring her magic show to the far off land of Saddle Arabia, she can think of nopony better to bring along than her great and powerful assistant, Starlight. But not all friends are meant to travel together. How about an animatic? Episode link: SendVid (SD): https://sendvid.com/dwieyyra
  18. Yes, it's a kids' show. I don't care. Look at all of Disney's animated films and how the villains in those got killed off for being too evil, despite being written for kids. I didn't see parents complaining that Disney traumatized their children. Why should MLP be any different? Because in To Where and Back Again…. If villains want to stay evil and continue threatening the lives of others, their own lives should become forfeit. Just as it is in our world. Understandably, we can't have ponies going Frank Castle on their asses, given the rating. So the least Celestia could do is instate a death penalty for when they're defeated and subsequently captured. In the end, it would certainly save ponies the trouble of trying to fend off Tirek again if he ever broke out of Tartarus a second time…. It wouldn't have to be shown so much as have its existence reinforced in a subtle way. If confirmation of the villains' executions can be included in passive dialogue, I don't think anyone would object to that.
  19. So, consider season 8 is officially a go, why not some fan clubs! Let's start with the bubbly hippogriff Silverstream; who is apparently related to Queen Novo. Man, I am digging the continuity with the film! Source: https://www.deviantart.com/art/STAIRS-737100550
  20. Title: The Washouts Release Dates: September 8, 2018 (official US Discovery Family airdate) Writer: Nick Confalone (my mane man) Synopsis: "When Scootaloo becomes enamored with The Washouts, a touring group of stunt ponies, Rainbow Dash is concerned for her safety and worries that Scoot's days as her number one fan are over." Could be alot of feels in this episode, I presume! This is the only episode where Discovery Family hasn't released any sneak peek sketch footage, so we're probably in for a real treat! Episode Link
  21. Title: Molt Down Air Date (U.S./Disc. Family): May 26th, 11:30am EST Writer(s): Josh Haber Summary: Spike struggles with a series of Bizarre symptoms that Smolder explains is something all dragons go through in adolescence-- "the molt." To Spike's horror, Smolder also reveals an unfortunate "molt side-effect," that compels a molter's family to kick them out of the house!
  22. So the OST is starting to drop depending on your region and purchase/streaming platform. I just went through all the film songs twice and so far I have to say that Daniel Ingram nailed it for me. Some quick hits and spoilers We Got This Together feels like a song you would expect from a long big episode on the show, and it highlights several of the traits of the Mane Six. Spike talking with his mouth full made me smile. I'm the Friend You Need has some 90's style Disney elements to go along with Taye Diggs smooth voice. People are going to pick up on that and feel it's familiarity. For me it is reminiscent of Friends on the Other Side at times due to the singer. Time To Be Awesome was hot fun and I suspect will be the fan favorite here. For a song that appears to be a motivational song pushing the Pirates to betray the Storm King ... it was unfortunately a bit on the short side (and I hope the sudden change of heart isn't just tied to this song because brevity is not a good thing with shifting allegiances) but the song is great and Rainbow's best song period. One Small Thing is a duet between Pinkie and Skystar. I'm biased as all hell because Chenoweth is a Broadway goddess to me. This is my second favorite song just for that, though it is probably going to be everyone's least favorite. I don't care ... It's Glinda singing in Pony. Open You Eyes ... Tempest's song ... ok. This was the highlight outside of Sia and Lukas. Emily Blunt sings about her rage, disappointed, and disillusionment from being an outcast among her own kind. Her motivation seems powerful and likely what sells this song. The two huge songs are Rainbow and Off to See The World. Both are rock solid, and my thoughts about Rainbow have already been shared ... the other songs are fine fluff. Rachel Platten does well enough. Anyway, this is a solid Soundtrack and worth the price. It needed some more orchestra pieces though. Most of the songs minus Off to See The World (album purchase exclusive) are available on Hasbro's official YouTube channel.
  23. Note: This is discussion for the S8 premiere, and as of late, some content originally leaked (e.g., the School Six's names) have been officially revealed. But as always, please keep all leaked content not officially revealed yet — and/or if you're unsure if you're revealing too much — under the "spoiler" tag. (Hit the eye icon to trigger it and type within it.) Title: School Daze, Parts 1 & 2 Air Date (U.S./Disc. Family): March 24th at 11:30am (Pt. 1) & 12 noon (Pt. 2) Writer(s): Michael Vogel & Nicole Dubuc Summaries: Part 1: "When the Friendship Map grows bigger to reflect the world beyond Equestria, the Mane 6 realizes they'll need a way to spread the message of friendship far and wide. Luckily, Twilight Sparkle knows just what to do -- open a School of Friendship!" Part 2: "When the School of Friendship is closed by Chancellor Neighsay of the Equine Educational Association, Twilight Sparkle must reunite her students, inspire her friends and buck the rules to stand up for what she knows is right for everycreature, pony or not." Of course remember to join us at the CMC Clubhouse on Equestria.tv! DailyMotion: Part 1: Part 2: Hey, Season 8, bring it on!
  24. Season 7 Episode 12: "Discordant Harmony" Synopsis: "Discord resorts to changing himself and his home realm when he invites Fluttershy over for tea." Writers: "Michael P. Fox and Wil Fox" Airdate: "August 5th 2017" Watch the episode here (will add HD when available):
  25. NOTE: I've seen a lot of posts from users on both sides with a vengeful attitude towards either fans or detractors both on this site (at least two of which I reported) and off. Wishing ill will at people or a group of people, calling someone or a group of fans "butthurt" (an ad hominem with homophobic and misogynistic implications), bashing fans, and verbal abuse to fan factions are vile and not welcome in this thread. For the sake of keeping discussion cool and civil, save this immaturity in your trash box and don't post it. On another note, even though this episode won't air in the U.S. until June 10, Treehouse TV in Canada will air it this Saturday sometime between 11 and 11:30am. Be prepared for spoilers! Title: A Royal Problem Air Date (Canada/Treehouse TV): May 20, 2017 Air Date (U.S./Discovery Family): June 10, 2017 Writer: Joanna Lewis & Kristine Songco (a.k.a., The Sister Writers) Summary: "Starlight Glimmer is sent to solve a friendship problem between Princess Celestia and Princess Luna; when it's clear that the problem is that the royal sisters don't appreciate one another, Starlight impulsively switches their cutie marks!" This episode will continue the trend from Treehouse TV starting last Sunday with Fluttershy Leans In: Two episodes will air per week, one on Saturday, one on Sunday (and could air the finale early in the summer), while Discovery Family will air one per week. More than likely due to the Movie coming out in October. The airing timing isn't consistent, so if you plan to watch the episode via the stream, arrive early. When someone uploads the episodes on YT and DailyMotion, I'll link them to you here. A poll will be published after it airs.
