  1. I've been a hockey fan since I was 10, and with the new season starting. I would like to know who everyone's favorite NHL team is.
  2. who here is a good basketball player? i myself have played basketball since 4th grade and currently on my high school b squad, tell me how good you are!
  3. Any Skaters out there? How good are you? Ever thought of tricking your board out with pony? Pics, if so.
  4. Considering the two teams involved in this year's Super Bowl, the scene is going to have as much red as Big Macintosh with piles of bucked apples in front of the Sweet Apple Acres barn. Joke aside, Which team are you going for, Kansas City Chiefs, or San Francisco 49ers? I've been a Chiefs fan for many years. So I'm rooting for them. Though I do have family in the Bay Area.
  5. Some people are really into sports, while others can't see what all the fuss is about. So, in your opinion, what sport is the most overrated? I personally would say basketball, virtually everyone in my town is obsessed with it and I have no idea why
  6. Two months ago an investigation was started by Major League Baseball looking into allegations of the 2017 Houston Astros stealing signs during the World Series. I tried my best to keep away from the drama, but now, based on MLB’s findings, the allegations were confirmed. Commissioner Rob Manfred has handed down a handful of punishments to the organization. The teams general manager Jeff Luhnow and field manager AJ Hinch were both suspended for the 2020 season without pay, but team owner Jim Crane was spared. Crane announced that both Hinch and Luhnow have been fired from their positions following the findings, which include former starter Mike Fiers admitting that they used a hidden camera to steal signs for what pitches to expect. The Astros have also been fined 5 million dollars, which is the highest allowable fine under league constitution, and will not have first or second round draft picks in 2020 or 2021. I’ve provided a link to the official news article from MLB.Com about the situation, which includes a PDF report released over the investigations findings. As a hardcore MLB fan, I’ve found this news rather odd at first, but now that the word is out that they did all this, I just can’t believe how other fans must be feeling https://www.mlb.com/news/astros-sign-stealing-penalty
  7. I live in Kentucky, so my team has to be the Wildcats! I love watching them and we've been to so many games!
  8. How competitive are you when it comes to something you care about? It can be a game that you enjoy playing, trying to be the best in your class, pretty much anything competitive. Hmm I'd say I'm pretty competitive, but I'm not as hardcore about winning as much as some people I know. If I tried my best and put up a good fight but lost in the end, that's not too bad. I mainly hate losing at something when I know I could've won if I hadn't made some stupid mistake. So what about you guys?
  9. I've seen a noted lack of discussions for NASCAR and auto racing fans on here, so i'm starting one up just in time for the Daytona 500 next Sunday. We can talk about NASCAR, bur we can also talk about other forms, like Indy, F1, or any other you'd like to talk about.
  10. Do you play any sports? I do competitive swimming!
  11. With the Washington Nationals winning their first ever World Series Championship, that means that 24 out of the 30 teams have won at least one World Series title. Meaning that there are only 6 left who have not yet won their first championship. The Seattle Mariners, Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres, Tampa Bay Rays, and Colorado Rockies. For the record: The Brewers' only appearance was in 1982. They came close by taking the Cardinals to a 7th game, but lost in the end. The Rockies' only appearance was in 2007, but were swept by the Red Sox. The Padres made 2 appearances, in 1984 and 1998. They lost to the Tigers in 5 in '84, and were swept by the Yankees in '98. The Rays' only appearance was in 2008. They lost to the Phillies in 5. The Rangers made 2 back to back appearances in 2010 and 2011. They lost to the Giants in 5 in '10. but came close in '11 by taking the Cardinals to a 7th game, but lost in the end. The Mariners have never made an appearance in the World Series. But I have this optimism for seeing all the teams win at least one championship some day. Which of these 6 teams do you think will be the next one to end their drought and finally have their first championship?
  12. The championship season kicked off yesterday with its first match and today it is our turn! The summer break has gone so quickly.. Today Brighton face Sheffield Wednesday at home. Very excited to see what we are made of this season! Who does your team have on the first day?
  13. I just got back from the pool. Did 20 laps with a mix of butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke, and freestyle. That's not much and I could only go for 30 minutes but I haven't really been super active in years due to my heart condition. Doc says exercise will strengthen it and so I went back to my favorite sport. Anyone else sharing the love for water? :3 ALSO! I know this is going to sound CRAZY but this anime influenced me back into the sport I really love and encouraged me. XD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqYdp6rOBaI
  14. Just moments ago a statement was released that Los Angeles Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs has died this afternoon. Skaggs was only 27. Having pitched 96 games with a career record of 28-38 with a 4.41 ERA and 476 career strikeouts. Currently there’s no statement of how it happened, but tonight’s Angels game scheduled against the Texas Rangers has been postponed to tomorrow in his memory. He is survived by his wife Carli. This is a terrible loss for the MLB
  15. Racing is a hugely popular sport all over the world. As a result, there are tons of kinds too! We have GT Racing, V8 supercars, bike racing, Nascar, Indycar, Formula 1, even Go-Kart racing as well as many others. With such a wide variety, it makes me wonder what people tend to prefer, or perhaps certain people love a combination? Let's answer that! What are YOUR favorite types of racing? For me, it has to be GT racing and in second place, V8 Supercars. GT Racing is just soooo technical and I love seeing how the drivers handle the huge variety of courses all over the world. I also prefer GT racing in the Forza Motorsport series.
  16. The Toronto Raptors have won the Eastern Conference Final for the first time in franchise history, and will be taking on the defending champ Golden State Warriors! How do you think the series will play out? Post your prediction in the poll above.
  17. It's that time of year again. The Stanley Cup Finals. This year it's the Boston Bruins against the St. Louis Blues. Will the city of Boston have it's 3rd championship team within a full calendar year? Or will the St. Louis Blues win their first ever Stanley Cup Championship and become the 20th active franchise in the NHL to do so?
  18. Today the Baseball world mourns a terrible loss. Bill Buckner, who was the NL Batting champion in 1980 with the Chicago Cubs has passed away from struggling with Dementia. Buckner played 22 seasons in the big leagues. His best year was undoubtedly 1980 as mentioned earlier. Buckner accumulated 2715 hits, 174 home runs, and 1208 Runs Batted In. Spoilered here is the moment in Buckner’s career that he is most remembered for. A fair warning for Boston Red Sox fans, it may be too painful to watch.
  19. Well, the NRL season of 2019 is almost here. This is a thread to discuss not only the NRL and the 2019 NRL season but anything related to Rugby League. Even if you’re not familiar with it and want to know about it, this is the place for you. Everybody and everypony is welcome. Round 1 will start on the 14th of March with the Melbourne Storm taking on the Brisbane Broncos. https://www.nrl.com/draw/
  20. (I might step on some people with my opinion. But i don't write this to hurt anybody. In the end, it's just my opinion.) There have been a number of many people, who demonized the Rio olympics for being held in a country with corruption, a poor society and the infamous zika virus, to the point that they simply don't want to watch these olympics. First of all, i want to make clear, that this is not what i am here to talk about. I always tried to not bring in politics into international sports events, because in my opinion they shouldn't belong in there. The Olympics for me, is more then just a mere sports event. It is THE Sports Event. Athletes from all around the World, come to one place, to compete in a friendly competition. It dosen't matter where they come from. It dosen't matter what religion they are part of and it dosen't matter what political believes they have. All they care about is the sport and to give their best. I think especially in times like these, where everybody is paranoid about death and terrorism being behind every corner, it is a great sign of peace and trust, for these athletes from all different cultures, to be all living in one place for almost 3 weeks. Be it Americans and Russians, South Koreans and North Koreans, or even Israelis and Palestinians. Some might call it cheesy, but i am a firm believer in the olympic spirit. Olympians don't get alot of money for competing, compared to Football/Soccer, Tennis, or Golf Tournaments, which puts the focus on the sport and the glory even more and i think this is a good sign. As i am writing this, i am watching synchronized diving and i am amazed by these great athletes. And i continue to have lots of fun.
  21. A rather shocking turn of events as New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has decided to retire from the National Football League. He has been battling a lot of injuries in his career, earning three Super Bowl rings, ending his nine year career having played 115 games, gone for 7861 Yards, and scored 79 touchdowns. Gronkowski is only about 29. I understand injuries, but it's not like he had to do this. Obviously fans in Boston aren't gonna like the Patriots very much without him, and he has been in commercials such as the trailer for Mobile Strike. Having a career cut short by injuries doesn't sound fun at all.
  22. The results are in for the newest members of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. There are four today. Firstly, five time World Series champion and all time leader in saves Mariano Rivera. By far one of the best closers of all time. Rivera became the first player to ever make it in with a unanimous "yes" vote. This was Rivera's first year on the ballot. Secondly, the late Roy Halladay, a pitching legend with two Cy Young awards and a perfect game who was tragically killed in a plane accident in late 2017, was voted in. This was his first year of eligibility. Thirdly, Pitcher Mike Mussina who played for the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees and won seven Gold Gloves made the cut. Mussina had been on the ballot since 2014. Lastly, Mariners fans can finally take a breath. Edgar Martinez is finally in. The 5 time Silver Slugger was on his final year of eligibility. That's about it! Larry Walker is still alive, and will participate in his tenth and final year of eligibility, so hopefully he gets into the hall in 2020. Todd Helton could have received a hell of a lot more votes than he actually did, I'm disappointed. Andy Pettitte did not even get ten percent of the votes, which is fine. And as usual, Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens are not in, which is a good thing. Fred McGriff was also on the ballot for his last year of eligibility, but did not get in. Anypony have thoughts on today's election?
  23. Hello Everypony! This past weekend was pretty eventful for football fans. We saw some good plays, but we are down to eight teams left, and the four teams that clinched the first round byes now have their opponents confirmed. After an emotional Saturday Afternoon for the Houston Texans, Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts have advanced. They will be traveling to take on Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday January 12th at Arrowhead Stadium. Next up for fans in Dallas, the wait for Dak Prescott's first career playoff win is over. Having taken out the Seattle Seakawks, the Cowboys will take on Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday January 12th at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Then of course, we have the Los Angeles Chargers, led by veteran Phillip Rivers, advancing with the win against the Baltimore Ravens. They will take on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium on Sunday January 13th. And finally, following a rather painful-to-watch missed field goal by Cody Parkey of the Chicago Bears, they could not make the comeback against Nick Foles and the Philadelphia Eagles, who move on to face Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints at the Superdome on Sunday January 13th. Who do you think will win these match-ups?
  24. Hello everypony! Seems as if the regular season in the National Football League has come to a close. We are down to twelve teams who all want to be this years Super Bowl Winner, but there can only be one. The Los Angeles Rams, New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, and New England Patriots, all have the first round bye. Here's the current situation in the AFC. This Saturday, the AFC South champion Houston Texans (3rd Seed) will host the Indianapolis Colts (6th Seed) at Reliant Stadium in Houston at 4:35 PM Eastern Time. On Sunday, the AFC North champion Baltimore Ravens (4th Seed) will host the Los Angeles Chargers (5th Seed) at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore at 1:05 PM Eastern Time. The Chiefs will host the lowest winning seed on January 12th at Arrowhead Stadium, while the Patriots will host the highest winning seed on January 13th at Gillette Stadium. Now the NFC This Saturday, the NFC East Champion Dallas Cowboys (4th Seed) will host the Seattle Seahawks (5th Seed) at AT&T Stadium in Arlington at 8:15 PM Eastern Time. On Sunday the NFC North Champion Chicago Bears (3rd Seed) will host the Philadelphia Eagles (6th Seed) at Soldier Field in Chicago at 4:40 PM Eastern Time. The Saints will host the lowest winning seed on January 13th at the Superdome, while the Rams will host the highest winning seed on January 12th at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Who do you think will still be on their feet at the end of this round?
