  3. Hello everypony, I was surprised to see that nopony else made any shipping threads, so I decided to make the fan fiction shipping, AppleDash! Please keep this thread PG, no R34. Other then that, feel free to post anything you want about AppleDash. Like fan art, fan fiction links, etc.
  4. Hub Welcome to the Applejack fan club! Applejack is the hard working sister of the Apple family. She works with her big brother Big Macintosh on the farm Sweet Apple Achres. She loves helping other ponies and will often work to the bone to please a friend. She like physical activity and has won countless times at rodeos. She is the element of Honesty. Kyronea's analysis on Applejack Rules of this thread -No spamming post to become biggest fans -This is a children’s show, and believe it or not there are younger people who go on these forums, please limit content to suggestive only. For example you may post a picture of two ponies kissing, but they cannot be doing anything inappropriate, or showing things inappropriate. -Do not post a picture of Applejack in the Rainbow Dash forum, because Applejack belongs in the Applejack forum. -Do not hate on another fan club, for example posting in the Fluttershy forum "Twilight is better!" -I have the ability to decide whether you are doing something inappropriate or not, if I deem you are doing something unnecessary and I ask you to stop, please stop. Common Sense my little ponies. -All of MLP Forums rules still apply. This is the Applejack thread, please only post her. If you have recomendations for another pony club, go to the hub (linked at the top of the screen). Trophy Case
  5. HUB Welcome everypony to MLP Forum's own Mane Six fan club! 7. WIP A Perfect Pair - Gone but not forgotten I'm including both of these characters together since they are indeed the perfect pair. I'm a hopeless romantic who was lucky enough to live a great romance and this couple is hooves down the greatest depiction of romantic love in FiM. This is as close to a holy grail OTP that the show can ever hope to achieve. Their story is as epic as the anticipation of finally seeing them depicted as characters, fully realized. The writers did not disappoint when crafting their love story. Many of us have waited years for this moment. I hope this topic will stand as a way to showcase them as a couple and also individually. A thread to remember them by in a sense. "A moment in our lives, a lifetime in our hearts."
  8. Whenever I write Applejack's dialogue, I usually write with standard spelling, instead of the "Ah"s and other dialect-like spellings typical of any fanfics about her. To me, it not only looks nice, but I also prefer the reader to imagine AJ speaking, because I am sure that they already knew that AJ speaks in a country accent, making the accent-ised spelling unnecessary. What do you think? Do you think that this is fine (relying on existing info and imagination), or is it better to use a dialectal spelling to reflect AJ's voice better? Eg. "I'm sure that you're not wandering around, partner. Trust me." vs. "Ah'm sure that yer not wandrin' 'round, pardner. Trust me."
  9. Fame and Misfortune - A Second Opinion Can I beat the 2 minute review challenge on Angry Stranger Than Fan Fiction? Nothing but the most essential points here.
  10. I would pick Rarity, because she can use her emotions well as an actress. Other than her, Fluttershy would use her aggression, while Twilight may also be good at acting. Which one of the Mane Six do you think is the best actress for a villain character?
  11. Title: The Cart Before The Ponies Air Date: August 6, 2016 Written by: Ed Valentine Synopsis: The Cutie Mark Crusaders are excited for the chance to race in the annual Applewood Derby until their teammates Rarity, Applejack and Rainbow Dash take over the competition. Of course remember to join us at the CMC Clubhouse on Equestria.tv!

  13. Today is October 20, 2020 aka Applejack Day so, I thought that I would list my reasons why I think Applejack is Best Pony. 1. Her singing voice. 2. Her accent. 3. Her relationship with Equestria Girls Rarity. RariJack five-ever! 4. Applejack is now my fourth favorite pony and four is my favorite number. Technically, Applejack is tied with Twilight Sparkle for my number one Best Pony! 5. I appreciate how much she cares about her friends and family. 5. She reminds me of Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl from the Toy Story movies. Which, is why she became my original Best Pony. 6. Her dry sense of humor. 7. I enjoy watching Applejack interact with her little sister Apple Bloom. 8. Applejack reminds me of @Lucky Bolt. I'm not really sure why.

  15. (Also, whatever is right with her) What I’m about to tell is, actually, obvious, but for some reason it was never mentioned in any Applejack analysis I’ve ever seen: Applejack ain’t honest. For whatever reason, the creators of the show have decided, that honesty is an important part of the magic of friendship and gave that trait to Applejack. And then… they failed to establish it. You remember the second part of the pilot episode: a big part of it was spent to five scenes establishing elements of harmony as traits of Mane Six. BronyCurious (I believe) stated in his analysis of the episode that it just wasn’t enough time to do it properly. In general, I can only agree with him, but going into details we can see that not each of those five scenes suffered from time limit equally. In my opinion Fluttershy’s kindness and Rainbow Dash’s loyalty were revealed decently. Maybe, they could be revealed even better with more screentime, but they were already good enough. Pinkie’s laughter and Rarity’s generosity weren’t revealed as fortunate as those mentioned above. But in these cases writers still managed to make a turn with help of healthy self-irony, though. I mean Twily’s reaction when Pinkie (for the first but not last time) broke into song: “Tell me, she’s not!” – “Yes, she i-is!” Or Dashie’s final statement in sea serpent scene: moustache would grow back! BTW, great scene though: ridiculous on one hoof and hilarious on other. It’s a useful tactic: if you are landed in an awkward situation, be the first who laughs. That way others will laugh with you, not at you. That’s exactly what writers did there. But the attempt to reveal Applejack’s honesty was a complete fail. When Applejack started to talk about “honest truth” many viewers said: “What?! What does honest truth have to do with anything happening in this scene?!” But this was expected. We all know that honesty is valued as such only then, when revealing the truth has consequences you better avoid. So, to show honesty, we need those consequences. This means we need another conflict. Ergo, we need whole another subplot, which has to be developed throughout several scenes. And there lack of screentime strikes! Not being established properly, the element of honesty never appears further in the show. No, really: Applejack isn’t particularly honest. She lies occasionally, as we all do, and for the usual reasons. What’s really bad is that she sometimes lies to herself. That is the farthest thing from honesty you can ever have. Sad but true. Furthermore, as soon as in the first season we have several episodes built upon Mane Six being in their elements. We have Rarity being generous in “Suited for success”, we have Fluttershy being kind in “Bird in the hoof”, we have Pinkie Pie being full of laughter in “Griffon the brush off”. We even have an episode, where those elements came into collision: “Green isn’t your colour”. But we have not a single episode – not in the first season, nor in the whole entire show – where Applejack's honesty would be the driving force of the story. In the contrary, we have two episodes where the main conflict is generated by Applejack’s lying: to her friends in “Last roundup” and to herself in “Applejack season”. Well, it’s perfectly understandable: honesty has been number one priority in children’s didactics for the last nine thousand years. After all, parents and teachers don’t want children to lie to THEM. But it means there’re already too many stories out there that teach children value of honesty. Also, let’s admit it: honesty isn’t most valuable virtue in a real adult life. At some point we all have to learn when and how it is appropriate to lie. So once again, it’s perfectly understandable if the creators of the show don’t really want to address this issue. What I can’t understand then is why in Celestia’s name they’ve chosen the trait they have no interest in exploiting further whatsoever?! Thank Celestia Applejack has another trait we love her for. It’s her reliability. She is very supportive and always tries to be reliable to her friends. Right from start, in the beginning of “FiM, Pt.2” she says: “She ain’t no spy! But she sure knows what’s going on, don’t you, Twilight?” With that one sentence she admits Twilight importance, reveals it to others, asks Twilight to trust them and offers her support. Later on she refuses to leave Twilight alone in Everfree Forest. In “Ticket Master” all five try to bribe Twilight for the extra ticket but only Applejack tries to give Twilight what she actually needs at the moment: food. And in the end she is the first who apologises. In “Dragonshy”, when Twilight decides to stick to the plan and bring Fluttershy along, Applejack takes care of the matter without questions. And later on Applejack saves Twilight in avalanche. Not to mention “Applejack season”. This list can go on and on, but there is one another example of Applejack’s supportiveness I’d like to mention. I will do it another tome, though, when I’ll talk about “Boast Busters”. The final question is: why creators of the show didn’t make reliability Applejack’s element of harmony? It would fit perfectly, wouldn’t it? Original post.
  16. Applejack sounds like country singer Reba McEntire while Rainbow Dash does not. Apples > Skittles Trees > Clouds Trucks > Whatever Rainbow Dash drives. Applejack has a dog. Applejack wears a nifty cowgirl hat. Applejack is best friends with a world-famous pop singer. I'm sure @Lucky Bolt would agree with at least one of my well-researched points.
  17. What's with this ""MANE 6" thing? I only know 5 charaacters: 1. Rarity 2. Applejack 3. Pinkie Pie 4.Twilight Sparkle 5. Rainbow Dash ------------------------------------------------------------ So who am I missing here?
  18. I have said once and I will say again when it comes to any of the mane 6 being in relationships in the show I am neutral, if it happens great so long as it is done right if not than there are plenty of fanfics that have it anway. But there is one argument against that that has been bugging me. It is the argument that doing so would somehow be out of character for most of the mane 6 which is of course an opinion but I am yet to really see anything other than 1 dimensional stereotypes about the characters to back it up. It is out character for Twilight Sparkle because "she is too much of a nerdy bookworm", it is out of character for Rainbow Dash because "she is too much of a brash rough and tumble tomboy", out of character for Applejack because "she is too much of a workaholic". It is true that they don't seek out relationships like Rarity has been shown to do, but the idea that it is out of character for them for those reasons is a little farfetched when you consider that character with similar personality traits have had relationships that have been pulled off well in other shows as well as real life. What I like about this show and the ponies is that they have shattered stereotypes and really made these characters come to life. Twilight was and still is a nerdy bookworm and there is of course nothing wrong with that but she was very anti social in season 1 but though was still more introverted became more open to social situations. Rainbow Dash was and still is a rough and tumble tomboy and does often have trouble showing her emotions but does have a softer side to her that we have seen some subtle hints of throughout the series and we really saw big time in Sleepless In Ponyville. Applejack often overdoes things and has pushed herself too hard but has shown signs of improvement as the series has gone on as she has become less reluctant to ask for help.
  19. Users 716 2115 posts Report post 58 minutes ago Their big cash crop is, of course, apples. Dwarf apple trees start producing apples in 2-3 years and live about 35 years. One mature tree produces about 8 bushels of apples. They produce the most fruit between 10 and 30 years. So, about ⅔ the trees are mature and ⅓ are over or under their best years and produce zero to less than 8 bushels. For the sake of round numbers, I’m going with 6 bushels/year average. 1,100 trees an acre @ 6 bushels/tree = 6,600 bushels an acre. IMO, they have three one acre apple orchards. I base this on the episode Applebuck Season. AJ tells Big Mac that, despite his doubts, she can harvest the entire crop herself. She grossly underestimated the time that it would take her to do the hauling as well. At one point, they are going to honor AJ, and Dash says “I haven’t seen her all week”. AJ eventually finishes an orchard & collapses when she sees that she’s forgotten a lot of trees. So, the question is “How much time did AJ spend on the trees she DID finish?”. Assuming 1100 trees an acre, and one minute to buck a tree, that’s 1100 minutes an acre x3 = 3300 minutes = 55 hours of work. IMO, that’s her portion of the harvest work with Big Mac doing all the hauling to get the harvest to storage. Assuming that WITH haulage, she averaged 5 minutes a tree, that’s 5500 minutes an acre x2 acres = 11,000 minutes. = 183 hours 20 minutes. That’s 20 hours a day for 9+ days. That’s why she was groggy from exhaustion. Then she collapsed when she realized that she’d forgotten the third orchard. IMO, she assumed that she could do the hauling as fast as Big Mac but couldn’t. Post season four, they’ve got one orchard (presumably the west orchard) set aside as a vampire fruit bat sanctuary. (MANY people have pointed out “That’s an insane thing for a farmer to do”.) They’ve doubtless replanted and have three functioning orchards plus an acre set aside for the vampire fruit bats. Barring magical growth, they lost ⅓ their fruit production for 2-3 years while the replacement fruit trees matured. The new orchard is still 5-6 years away from full production. Possibly, they got a government payment to compensate for their financial loss. In bulk, you get roughly 2 (US) gallons of cider from 1 bushel of apples, so 1 tree = 3 gallons of cider. A barrel of cider = 36 gallons = 12 trees. So, one acre can produce slightly over 183 barrels of cider. With three acres, I assume they sell 1-2 barrels of hard cider per week to the local bars in Ponyville (I also assume that Equestria is more like England than the USA in cider consumption & consumes 11-12% as much cider as beer) This leaves them about 80 barrels to sell as sweet cider. I assume they use 1 acre for the cider festival. The ponies act like this is a Big Deal, so I'm guessing they use a different cider recipe for the festival. (There are MANY). That's 183 barrels for that. This leaves 1 acre for other uses. 6600 bushels is far more than can probably be sold retail in Ponyville. IMO, they make the rest into apple cider vinegar & either sell the vinegar or use it to make various forms of pickles (starting with pickled apples), or both About 3% of the dwarf apple trees need replaced each year. That’s 99 trees cut down for firewood. This would be about 28 cords of wood. IMO, 18 for their own use & sell about 10 cords. + there's a LOT of pruned branches, cleared brush, etc. that can't be sold but would burn just fine. Corn, grapes, & carrots, are specifically mentioned or shown in various places. The Crusader’s clubhouse seems to be in a relatively unused part of the farm. Plus cows and sheep live there, and they keep chickens and pigs. Corn would be planted in May & harvested in September. In the USA the average is 174.2 bushels an acre (slightly over double the world average) and parts of the corn belt get over 200 bushels an acre. With earth pony magic, I assume Equestria does that well too. Grapes are perennials. New vines can be grown from cuttings or seeds. You would plant them as soon as the snow is off the ground. Harvest is late September to November depending on type. IMO, Sister Hooves Social is in October, after the cider fest. Carrots Depending on the variety and local growing conditions, carrots may take anywhere from 2 to 4 months to mature. Carrots can tolerate some frost -IMO they'd be harvested right into December. They don't like it TOO hot, but they can take it. You can assure a prolonged harvest by planting some every week. They'd plant them on Winter Wrap Up, stop for awhile during summer, start again in fall. Fresh market carrots usually yield 8 to 12 tons per acre and can yield up to 20 tons. A bushel (without tops) weighs 50 pounds. One acre produces , say, 500 bushels. IMO more than enough Chickens need less grain if they can free range & forage for part of their food. 1 lb. of grain = 4 chickens for 1 day. If they can't (at least during winter) 1lb grain = 2 chickens for 1 day You waste less grain if you use a trough to feed them. 1 acre of corn would more than feed 24 chickens + a rooster for a year According to the American Egg Board, hens lay about five eggs a week. So that means your average hen lays about 260 eggs a year. 6,240 eggs a year. 17 & 1/7 eggs a day. IMO, they eat some, use some for baking, & sell the rest They could sell the excess eggs directly or make pickled eggs out of them SheepPurdue University recommends the following pasture program for a 100-ewe flock of sheep, stating that if you properly manage and fertilize your pasture, 30 acres should be sufficient to supply a flock of 100 ewes and 150 lambs each year. IMO, as much or more than needed for the herd on the farm. Sheep can eat straw (good for roughage), but can't live on just straw. They should NOT have more than about 1 lb. of grain/day -it will permanently wreck their digestion over a long period. Lactating sheep SHOULD get 1 lb. grain/day until the lambs are weaned. Minimum of 3 weeks, average 9 weeks, could be up to 13 weeks. Ewes with more than 1 lamb should be given extra forage but NOT extra grain. Cows Still working on it, but the herd in Applebuck Season was 30-35 cows. Average cow gives about 2,500 (US) gallons of milk a year. Average cow needs about 3 acres/ year of pasture + 3 lbs. grain per gallon of milk produced. That's 100-120 acres of pasture for the cows. Zap Apples Unknown amount, but assuming 8 bushels a tree, 1 bushel of apples makes about 14 (8 oz.) cups of jam or jelly. 1 tree makes 64 pints of jam or jelly. 1 cup of jelly takes 3/4 cup of sugar. GrapesGrapes are perennials. New vines can be grown from cuttings or seeds. You would plant them as soon as the snow is off the ground. Harvest is late September to November depending on type. IMO, Sister Hooves Social is in October, after the cider fest. So, IMO, Sweet Apple Acres is 200-300 Acres with 130-150 of it being pasture
  20. So I took a look at this photo and it got me thinking about AJs' parents. Then i thought about how the show would explain the weird match up of Applejack's family on the farm. Obviously I don't think the show will ever go that dark to say they died but i think there is the possibility of a very deep and meaningful episode. But why stop there? I wouldn't mind an episode or episodes where they give background info on the mane 6's families. We have seen some other parents like RDs father, plus rarity, twilight and even pinkie's family. But we haven't seen anything from Aj,Fluttershy And the biggest perpetrator of missing-parent-syndrome, Scootaloo. How do you think the episode would layout? Are you for something like this? Would you like to see it in a dark, deep, sad, so happy it makes you cry, or lighthearted way? I think they could possible do an episode where its a holiday for parents. P.S. Im pretty sure there is another topic like this somewhere else.
  21. I heard this song by the legendary Johnny Cash and it reminded me of Braeburn and Applejack. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaL6nViAySk Now the song meaning is probably different but I'm too lazy to look it up. Just hearing Johnny mention color of the sun and his eyes were green reminded me of Braeburn and AJ. Basically what non-mlp music reminds you of your favorite ponies? Mane-six, secondary or background ponies. You can do OC ponies but try to mention what song reminds you of a canon pony if you please.
  22. There is a site that has text to speech voices based off of My Little Pony. They can be found here, but keep in mind that sometimes the site is under maintenance.
  23. I looked around the Internet, and noticed that of the Mane Six, Applejack has the least number of images uploaded to Derpibooru.org, and also the least number of messages in her fan club on this forum. This convinces me, Applejack might actually be the least favorite of the average MLP fan. I'm not trying to offend any Applejack fans; I only did this for survey purposes. Even I don't agree that Applejack is my least favorite. You understand, right?
  24. Basically, this is taking the Who Do You Admire thread a little higher. Think to yourself who on this forum is your absolute favorite user, be it he/she is funny, shares common interests, or is just a good friend in general. This is NOT a "Best user" thread. This is just to share and spotlight who you like the most . I will reveal mah favorite user later, but in the meanwhile, GO !
