    Applejack Fan Club

Hub Welcome to the Applejack fan club! Applejack is the hard working sister of the Apple family. She works with her big brother Big Macintosh on the farm Sweet Apple Achres. She loves helping other ponies and will often work to the bone to please a friend. She like physical activity and has won countless times at rodeos. She is the element of Honesty. Kyronea's analysis on Applejack Rules of this thread -No spamming post to become biggest fans -This is a children’s show, and believe it or not there are younger people who go on these forums, please limit content to suggestive only. 5. I was thinking about the Big Macintosh/Sugar Belle romance, and figured that if there's anything that Big Mac has that Applejack doesn't, it's an established romance with a "Special Somepony". We know that Applebloom, along with Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo, support the romance. but one wonders what Applejack would think of the relationship. Let's discuss one of the possibilities. I suppose that AJ might feel a very tiny bit of jealousy over Big Mac having a relationship and her still without one after 8 seasons. Do you suppose that somewhere, very very deep in the back of her mind, Applejack might be wishing that she had a "special somepony" of her own? One wonders how she feels or what she does on Hearts and Hooves day. Now one possibility as to relates to her lack of romantic desires is that he mind is focused too much on her farm work and when one works on Sweet Apple Acres, you have to pull your weight for the farm to thrive. Not only that, but she's an Element of Harmony and a professor at the Friendship School. Both of which also put Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie's potential romantic desires on hold. The Mane 6 practically have no time for romance. But even for the other 5, I'm sure that somewhere in the back of their minds, they wish they had a "special somepony" to call their own. But promoting friendship has to come first, and romantic pursuits have to be saved for later. What makes Applejack stand out among the others is that she's living with a brother who has an established romance in the show, and don't think that's not going to be noticed by her. Another possibility is that she isn't interested in romance. She was pursued by Trenderhoof in "Simple Ways" but she showed NO interest in him whatsoever. I take it from that episode that among the Mane 6 Applejack rivals Rainbow Dash for LEAST romantic Mane 6 member. But then again in due time, she might change her mind. What do you think. Do you suppose that Applejack wishes at some point to have a "special somepony" of her own?

  7. Title: The Cart Before The Ponies Air Date: August 6, 2016 Written by: Ed Valentine Synopsis: The Cutie Mark Crusaders are excited for the chance to race in the annual Applewood Derby until their teammates Rarity, Applejack and Rainbow Dash take over the competition. 8. I mean, honestly, the question I (along with other fans) have is, "What's the Difference?" Now, one could point out, that Applejack and Starlight wouldn't use any feminine charm on Spike and would be the kind of characters that would except him for who he is, and be down to earth with him. But I think Trent Osborne (Fellow Fan and Youtuber) said it best in the comments, (which for some odd reason were removed from audio/video on this): Now, he did go on to add more, but again those comments are were removed for some reason. But the overall take from those comments are, just because the show staff has yet to REALLY address this, and with the potential that S9 could be it, we (more than likely) will get the resolution there, and from some odd reason, (just a gut feeling I have), I feel that they will have an episode where Rarity x Spike officially become an item, however it will be done in a very subtle way, in other words, we'll see it happen, but come the following episode, it will be it didn't happen, but we (as fans and viewers) will know it did (I mean when watch the show, the episodes, while remaining in the seasonal timeline/continuity , don't always acknowledge moments from pervious episodes in that season, unless it's a two-parter or necessary , like in "Horse Play"). But despite that, again I ask , "What's The Big Difference"? Because if you're going by age difference, same applies to AJ and Starlight. And also, let's look at it this way, if they wanted to put this Sparity to bed, they would have done so a long time ago, but as you can see from this recent season, it's still as strong as ever. Also, remember this, Lauren Faust wanted to use Spike as our eyes/POV to see how beautiful Rarity was/is, I'm sure she didn't expect this whole Sparity thing to come from it, but yet here we are. So yeah, if you more on this, check out my audiovideo (located in the video fan art section of these MLPForums). But what's you take on it?

  11. WIP A Perfect Pair - Gone but not forgotten I'm including both of these characters together since they are indeed the perfect pair. I'm a hopeless romantic who was lucky enough to live a great romance and this couple is hooves down the greatest depiction of romantic love in FiM. This is as close to a holy grail OTP that the show can ever hope to achieve. Their story is as epic as the anticipation of finally seeing them depicted as characters, fully realized. The writers did not disappoint when crafting their love story. Many of us have waited years for this moment. I hope this topic will stand as a way to showcase them as a couple and also individually. A thread to remember them by in a sense. "A moment in our lives, a lifetime in our hearts."

    Cider Season Trivia

Welcome to the Cider Season Trivia. In the midst of the insanity of the MLPF World Cup and the looming Nightmare Nights in the near future, Cider Season has begun and that means those who love to drink cider are going to be very happy. Hopefully, none of you are too hyped up on cider otherwise you might miss out on this. Right now, Applejack is busy dealing with an apple theft or something, but before she galloped off, she asked me to present some questions based on her exploits. Me? I don't drink cider myself so I'm more than fine to do this. There are nine questions to answer as well as a bonus question and by answering them all correctly, you will earn yourself a badge dedicated to Applejack. What is on it? I'll let you find out for yourselves. As before, you must submit your trivia answers to the right character. In this case, @Applejack. Any concerns must be sent her way though you can send them to me. Remember that hints aren't available for all questions and the bonus has none. Collaborations are also allowed so feel free to join forces with others if you feel the need to. Oh, and as usual, the bonus can be substituted as a correct answer if you're not comfortable with your answers for the regular ones. Now... Due to some issues in the previous trivia, there have been some slight changes. First of all, you will be given four days to submit your answers to a specific character, in this case, @Applejack, from the moment this trivia was posted on the forums. Also, from now on, the trivia threads will be given a time lock feature where they will automatically lock after the allotted time has passed. Once the lock happens, that particular trivia will have ended and no further submissions will be accepted barring very special circumstances. In this instance, it will lock after four days. Ready for the questions? Good because here they are. Q1. What command does Applejack use to get Winona to herd up animals? Q2. What are the cutie marks of each member of Sweet Apple Acres? Q3. What animal did Rainbow Dash knock over rushing to beat the line for Cider Season? Q4. How much does it cost for a Sweet Apple Acres mug of cider? Q5. Which episode did Applejack say the following: "I'm Applejack! More apple fwitter?" Q6. Where were Granny Smith, Big Mac, and Apple Bloom during Bats! Q7. What did Applejack do to the Apple Family with her lies as a filly? Q8. When did Granny Smith first fight the apple blight? Q9. What marks the site of the Apple & Pear wedding? Bonus. In Rollercoaster of Friendship, Pinkie Pie appoints Applejack to a special position and then the latter is able to use it to access an area that's off-limits to the public. What is the position Applejack is given? How is this position used to access the off-limits area? What does she do when she gets there? Edit: Question Five has been changed to include the correct quote. Thanks to @ChB for pointing it out.
  13. When Applejack is escaping from Dodge Junction/Dodge City in "The Last Roundup" the stallions pulling are all blank flanks. You could say it was an animation error but in "Party Pooped" the same stallions pulling Cherry Jubilee, and Pinkie Pie still don't have any cutie marks?

    "Sounds of Silence" Review

Note: Credit to @Truffles and @Justin_Case001 for my review. Am I interested in talking about this episode? No. I'D RATHER SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING! For Season 8, Nicole Dubuc brought in a few writers: Brian Hohlfeld, Kaita Mpambara, and Kim Beyer-Johnson. Minus Kaita, each of them have strong connections with Dubuc and worked with her on Transformers: Rescue Bots. Gregory Bonsingore is no exception. But for him, he's a little different compared to the rest. Bonsignore is an award-winning playwright and lyricist: His Off-Broadway play "Gorgonzola: A Cautionary Sicilian Tale" won several awards at a Miami musical festival, including Best Musical and Best Music/Lyrics. So to have an accomplished writer on FIM is a treat regardless of outcome. In his Friendship Is Magic debut, he displays his credentials. This episode covers a lot of information, comparable to Lost Mark or even MMC. But what he does so well is manage it. How? When scenes weren't as important (i.e., the Map calling), little time's used, but when he needs to delve into the important plot points (i.e., communicating with the kirin, finding Autumn, figuring out what caused the vow of silence), he takes advantage. Therefore, despite an abrupt ending, the story flows well. It goes by fast without rushing through. As what Twilight said, this is the first time a set of ponies took part in a second quest, this being AJ and FS. And here, each of them were tremendous. Was Fluttershy scared? Thanks to its ominous name and craggy exterior, more than plausible. The Friendship Express quickly hightailing from its weathered station further and freaky clerk support her fear. But as the episode progressed, her fear starts to ease, starting with helping nearby squirrels gather up bright yellow-to-blue flowers, who in return helped her locate the Peaks's real entrance and their discovery of the kirin. Needless to say, the kirin are gorgeous! Their earthly tones complement really well with their environment and contrast really nicely to the pastel-ly look of AJ and FS. Their manes, horns, toes, tails, and dragon-scale-esque backs are wonderfully designed, with only their brilliant eyes to pop out. And, yes, @Justin_Case001 is right. The tilting of the head makes them look really cute! But the outsider of the clan, Autumn Blaze, is easily the star of the show and takes up the bulk of the run time compared to the others. Pinkie and Silverstream are massive chatterboxes, but Autumn gives them a massive run for their money. She talks a lot and is full of quirks with solid reason. Other than the view and makeshift toys, she hasn't talked to anyone in ages to the point of forgetting or mispronouncing words. AJ is her first companion since Rain Shine exiled her. And her rapid, sometimes flowery, talk is completely hilarious. Her personality is more than charming. It's warm, bright, and optimistic. Even when she's bored, she finds ways to remain eccentric and hopeful to reunite with her clan, evident in many ways, including her gossip with a stick. Oh, and We're Friendship-Bound? You're dethroned! A Kirin Tale is the best song of the season. Nuff said! Not enough? Well, alright. The events Blaze described are quite serious, but because she and the song sound so happy with a boatload of humor (including pop culture jokes referencing Citizen Kane, Hamilton, and especially Phantom of the Opera!), the tone's nowhere nearly that dark. The song itself, written by Big Jim and Dubuc, is really funny with many fantastic lyrics. The kirin society's closed off from outside contact and, if going by the ancient shield Rockhoof used, lived closed off for millennia. Its vow of silence is relatively new in their history, but painted on a nearby rock (and shown to FS offscreen) to remind them of why they accepted this vow. The graphic imagery in itself paints a really dark era of what happened and, to echo what @Truffles stated in his replies, why Rain Shine (the kirin's longtime empress) was completely justified to take such a drastic measure in the first place. The kirin clan devolved into a literal flame war over who'll buy a homemade water pitcher, and their nirik fight destroyed their water supply, flora, and village. But even after becoming homeless, they kept going, and some of them were completely incapable of controlling their temper, hence their sustained nirik form. Had Rain Shine not step in and order everyone to step into the Stream of Silence and suppress their feelings, they'd lose more than just their village, but way of life or even themselves. And in response to those who criticize Rain Shine's plan as flawed, that's the point. Anger's normal, and it's okay to express your anger. But it's important to channel it responsibly. Rain Shine's solution restored order and peace within the Peaks of Peril, but sacrificed being able to communicate and feel without being reminded of why they suppressed their emotions. The following lyrics metaphorize the very moral: Rainbows won't light up the sky unless you let it rain. Shiny apples sometimes come with worms. Candles just won't glow until they burned. And that was why the Map called AJ and FS: to teach them how to constructively moderate their anger and disagree without sacrificing their joy, ability to feel, or fearing to hurt each other's feelings and reunite Autumn with the others. Why Applejack and Fluttershy in particular? For a few reasons. Applejack can tell the firm truth while also being sensitive to their feelings. She's not afraid to express what went wrong or what goes against her core morale without marginalizing them. In short, she tells the truth because she cares. If you have someone like Starlight, you run the risk of undercutting the very moral you're trying to teach, because she's plain and blunt, and with a history as sensitive as the kirin's, even more so. AJ's softer personality balances out better with the conflict as well as Fluttershy's further tenderness and care for the animals who live with them. Fluttershy is way more connected to the animals than anyone else. When they're happy, she's happy, and when they're sad, she's sad. She understands what they want, how they feel, and what they're saying. She inadvertently discovered leftover Foal's Breath flowers for the squirrels, and in return, they help them discover the Peaks' true entrance. Because of her ability to read emotions and understand what's wrong, she's observant in how to properly communicate with the kirin, including advising Applejack to ask yes or no question (even though AJ contrivedly ignored that to begin Act 2 ). Despite being initially frightened, she grew more comfortable around them as AJ searched for Autumn Blaze. Observe how she stopped being scared after Applejack returned to the village. The episode validates both their arguments, which won't work with another pair. Autumn's explanation packs the events with a lot of humor, which masked its seriousness. But because the kirin are mute and emotionally suppressed, Fluttershy fully realized how serious the situation was immediately. Her closeness to the wilderness justifies her to opt for the opposite solution. OTOH, AJ had a valid argument, too, which was find the Foal's Breath flower to free them from their vow of silence so they can emote and communicate again. Both sides have a point, rounding the conflict. It's easy to see why they briefly argued; they were both passionate about solving the kirin dilemma and couldn't find common ground, which they did after Blaze rescued them and used her anger and nirik alter ego to protect them from harm. And @Justin_Case001 makes three great points in his review. This is an episode about communication, more specifically being able to communicate without fear of hurting each others' feelings or starting an argument. Is it important to be sensitive to others? Without a doubt. Otherwise, you suggest you don't care. But it's important to talk to people, communicate with them, and find common ground to compromise without compromising your integrity. While The Cutie Map is about being diverse in your opinions, talents, and personalities, Sounds of Silence is about being diverse in how to communicate and find common ground. As I mentioned before, anger is important and will always be a part of your life. Unfortunately, it's attached to many harmful stereotypes, i.e., the angry black woman, which stigmatizes the emotion. But in itself, it's okay to be angry. Just like anger in itself is important, constructively channeling it is even more important. The nirik's temper were out of control, and until the end, only Autumn Blaze figured out how to manage it without manifesting into something worse. Fluttershy's solution to the friendship problem — keeping the kirin silent — is the wrong option, and she realizes it after they nearly dunked them into the Stream of Silence. However, it's very clear she didn't come to this conclusion with the worst intentions, but instead the opposite. Fire and wood mix easily, and nature is vital to the health of the kirin's secluded village and society. The nirik's temper was clearly a traumatizing event that she and the village altogether don't want to repeat, and this extreme option seemed to be the best one. Observe their faces as they argued: They were clearly distressed. Their heated argument reminded them of what happened long ago. That's why they interrupted it before it escalated. Other than the pacing, cramming of detail, and AJ getting briefly nailed with the stupid stick, its last flaw is how obvious the Foal's Breath flower's impact into solving the friendship problem becomes as the plot progresses. Fluttershy and the story spent a good amount of time arranging it for the squirrels, and its brilliant gradients of blue to yellow with all that detail stand out really strongly against the dirty-looking desert. The fact that Blaze landed in a bed of identical flowers and made a tea out of them connects the dots much more. Yet, they're all very minuscule in the thick of things. Bonsignore's scripting talents really shine with well-done dialogue, pleasant characterization of AJ, FS, and Autumn Blaze, and intelligently simple story. Despite its fast pacing, the script is tight and polished; everything logically flows from one point to another without anything out of place. Since S4, FIM plugs in one episode featuring at least one celebrity guest: Weird Al for Pinkie Pride, Lena Hall for Mane Attraction, Patton Oswalt for Stranger Than Fan Fiction, Felicia Day & William Shatner for The Perfect Pear, and now Rachel Bloom (Autumn's VA) for this one. DHX, now Allspark Studios, puts forth a ton of effort into making the guests belong into the story, and that hard work pays off into an excellent episode (with TPP museum-worthy). Sounds of Silence is no exception. In an already-phenomenal Season 8, this is another addition to the pile of outstanding episodes.
  15. Title: Campfire TalesAir Date: August 26, 2017Written By: Barry Safchik and Michael PlattSynopsis: When their sister camping trip is ruined by Fly-ders, Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash tell Sweetie Belle, Apple Bloom, and Scootaloo the stories of their favorite legends; inspired by the tales, the girls make the most out of their new situation. Episode Promo Sooooo, long ago I used to do these episode threads. I had a fondness for doing these occasional 'Dad Jokey' type images, usually poking fun at speculation, the characters, pop culture or the MLPF community. So I figured, why not?
  16. With the recent trailer showing and hinting that (with their version of Secret Santa being done among the Mane 6 and Spike) To me, this makes the most sense for the direction they are going with for this special. But hey, If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. Although I think I may be on the button or close to it. But what do you think? Did you agree with my speculation, or do you have a different speculation on who else got who. Let us know. God Bless.

    Romance Blanket

It was a nightmare. She was stuck and with Flim, too. Nothing could lift her spirits in a time and place like this. Maybe Applejack should have been more clear with herself. It wasn’t as if it was either of their faults. After all, whose fault is it that an apple is so juicy and delicious, the tree or the baker? ... Actually, don’t answer that. It didn’t matter. Applejack had to keep her head on straight. The shed was dark, perhaps filled with bats or snakes that her vision failed to see. She had to be the smart one with Flim probably shaking next to her. Not that she could tell, actually, but the shed was so small that if she moved just a few inches to her left, they’d be touching shoulders. “M—maybe we can f—find an axe ‘r somethin’ in here?” I’m off to a great start. The stuttering really added some bravery to the situation, Applejack thought sarcastically. “Mm ... I can’t see any axes,” Flim said, making Applejack groan, “but here’s a lantern.” Applejack turned in surprise. “A lantern? Ya don’t suppose there’s a candle ‘n match in here, too, do ya?” She heard him start his magic—which was only bright enough to illuminate his horn and nothing else—and move some metals objects around, followed by a small gasp. “What? What is it?” She was answered with a match lit aflame. Finally seeing Flim’s face, as his green magic aura wasn’t nearly as bright as she had thought before, she saw his triumphant grin as he levitated a small candle into the lantern and lit it. Light flooded the room, and Applejack was finally able to see what else was kept in the small shed. Some rakes, a blanket, even a small jar of nails, but no axe, or anything else sharp enough to cut down the wooden door. “We’re trapped,” she said defeatedly. Flim responded with a quiet, disappointed hum. Applejack sat down and leaned against the door, looking up in frustration. “Can’t you buck down the door?” She sighed. “I already though o’ that. The shed’s too small, and I don’t wanna risk knocking over the lantern and setting the shed on fire, and I don’t wanna knock the stuff on the shelves onto us, especially that jar o’ nails.” “Ah.” Applejack closed her eyes. She supposed that Flim had sat down to rest as well, for she never heard a peep from him for a while. The silence was rather nice. Even if she wasn’t all too thrilled about sharing a room with the former con, she could admit that the room probably felt less intimidating if he was there than if she was there by herself. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad. Applejack’s eyes shot open when she heard thunder. Her ears drooped in annoyance. Seconds later, she heard rain start pattering on the roof. She hoped that the roof would be enough to keep the rain out. “Cold?” Applejack looked at Flim. “Huh?” “I found a blanket,” he said, referring to the thick cotton quilt, filled with feathers for stuffing, folded nicely on the top shelf. She cocked her head. “You’re wantin’ to share it?” she asked skeptically. “Well, I figure it’s gonna be a cold night, and I don’t think the rain’s gonna go anytime soon.” He chuckled softly. “What choice do we have, actually?” She studied his face. Oddly calm, no trace of his usual confidant smirk. Where did the usual Flim go? She bit her lip and joined him on the floor on the opposite side of the room. “If you try anythin’, you’ll get a hoof to the face,” she warned. “If that wasn’t the case, it wouldn’t be you.” She smiled, amused. “Glad we’re on the same page.” Flim levitated the blanket on top of them both, being careful not to get it anywhere near the still-burning lantern. Applejack noticed some dust leaving the blanket as it unfolded, but quickly ignored it once it was on top of her. It was the softest blanket she’d ever felt. Flim continued to grab two old sugar bags and placed them underneath their heads for pillows. “Sweet, huh?” Applejack nearly smacked him for that. She made do with a glare. Flim got the message and turned away from her, laying down on his own ‘pillow’. Laying down onto her bag, Applejack noticed the noise of the raindrops on the roof again. The roof had to be awfully sturdy for a broken shed, she supposed. She hadn’t noticed any leaking at all. Applejack decided that, once they got out of this, she’d store her vegetable crops in here. She’d empty the shed first, of course, but despite being so small, it was still large enough to fit crates of leftover carrots, okra, potatoes, and such. Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard a quiet snore. Turning to Flim, she realized he was fast asleep already. “Flim?” she whispered for clarification. “Flim, are ya asleep?” She didn’t receive a response at first, which answered her question, but after a minute or two, Flim, in a trance of sleep, turned around and wrapped his forelegs around Applejack, silently murmuring her name, along with something along the lines of, “Be quiet. I’m trying to sleep.” Applejack stiffened. Glancing at him, she had the terrifying thought that he didn’t even realize what he was doing. She shut her eyes tightly, slightly annoyed with herself. Of course he didn’t. He was asleep. She had a dilemma. What could she do? How could she respond? She dreaded the idea of cuddling him back, but what other solution could there be? It wasn’t like he was trying to seduce her. Many ponies cuddle in their sleep. She groaned. Fine. Just this once. She awkwardly wrapped her own forelegs around him in places that seemed comfortable. Trying to find a sleeping position this way, she fidgeted for a while. Flim didn’t seem to mind. He merely just continued snoring contentedly. Finally, she found a comfortable position. Resting her head on top of Flim’s as he nuzzled into her neck, she started to dose off. She found his warmth surprisingly comforting. Maybe even too comforting. Almost as if they were meant to be this way. Applejack shuddered. No. A billion times no. Not until marriage. That gave her goosebumps. Married? To Flim?! Ugh. There was no way. How did the thought enter her mind? Applejack shook her head and tried to focus on sleep. Slowly, she fell into a dream. An admittedly pleasant dream. A dream about her and Flim. A dream about their wedding. —— “Did you sleep well?” Applejack moaned, tired and aching from sleeping on the dirt floor. Still, it could’ve been worse. “Applejack, wake up.” She opened her eyes to meet his. His face was uncomfortably close. They were still embracing somehow. Her eyes widened, and she quickly pushed him off of her. He shrugged it off and only smiled. “You seemed to have slept well. You held me very gently last night. I could only assume you enjoyed my touch.” He earned a punch in the shoulder for that one. He laughed. “I deserved that one.” “Yeah. Ya did,” she deadpanned. “Don’t ever joke about that again.” She paused. “Actually, never even speak of it again.” “Alright, my lips are sealed.” “Good.” She closed her eyes, listening to the silence. “The rain stopped.” “Yep. And the lantern went out, too. I assume it’s bright enough outside, given how much sunlight is pouring through the walls.” He was probably right. Though, it was quite still dark in there, given how thick the roof was. Between the darkness of the room, the warmth of the blanket, and the closeness between the two, one could assume the situation was intimate. Applejack suddenly feared for her dignity. If somepony found them in there like that, who knows what they’d think. “Let’s put the blanket away. Somepony’s probably comin’ now, searchin’ for us,” She said. “Who knows? I actually think it’s still too early to tell.” Applejack paused, realizing he was probably right. Again. “Maybe ... we could rest a bit more?” he muttered, almost shyly. Applejack’s expression softened slightly. This was a new Flim, or rather, a different side of him she’d never seen before. Was it bad that she wanted to explore this side of him? He was oddly a more pleasant pony than she had thought. Maybe ... just maybe ... he could be her friend? She bit her lip. Yeah. She’d have to cuddle a bit more for her to decide. That was probably the solution. Most definitely.
  21. I know this has been posted several times before. But who confirmed it, what confirmed it? Im lost. First I heard that Lauren Faust said that her parents are dead. Then im told that the episode "Apple family reunion" IMPLIED it. Then im told that applejacks parents died due to timberwolves. Now im told that theyre note dead and thats what thye want me to think. What I want to know is, who said it first?
  22. A Talking Dragon

    Is Applejack Twilight's best friend?

In the show, I've notice that mane 6 tend to have different types of interaction with each other. For examples, Fluttershy and Rarity tend to hang together more then Rainbow and Twilight. Or Pinkie is willing to be more sensitive around Fluttershy. Is Twilight closer to A.J then the other mane 4? I ask this question because I always see the same one or two friendships talked about in the fandom, but the one between Twilight and Applejack is rarely mentioned. Note, I'm not including Spike in this since I see their relationship at a different level (more like family) and there's the history together. There are quite a bit of examples of their close friendship I've notices over a long period: Ep. 2: A.J defends Twilight from Rainbow's suspicions. Twilight is put into a despite situation and has to trust Applejack with her life. A.J was the first mentioned of the ponies that affected Twilight's view of friendship. Ep. 3: Twilight is hanging with A.J and helping her long before the Applebuck season incident. In Twi's hypothetical situation, A.J is not among those who didn't get a ticket to the gala. Applejack was first to give up her chance to go. Ep. 4: At the award ceremony, Twilight, and not the mayor, is hosting and she apparently has a lot to say on the pony. Everyone notices something's off but she's the only one of the group to visit A.J and ask about it. The others believe Twilight should help the farmpony, even as she's still new to the town. Ep. 7: A.J saves Twilight's life again and the latter gives her a thankful nuzzle. Ep. 8: Along with Rarity, A.J tries to make Twilight's sleepover a success despite her feelings on another pony. Ep. 11: Applejack's rebuke pushes Twilight to cry (first time she cried too I believe). The two share a sister-hoove bump for a job well done. Ep. 13: A.J invites Twilight to oversee the competition. When Rainbow and her laughs at Twilight entering the race, A.J tries harder to be more supportive. A.J takes Twilight's word on Rainbow and the tripping accident. Ep. 14: A.J and Twilight are hanging out together again at the beginning of the episode. Ep. 16: A.J helps Twilight out with the library but doesn't voluntary to have a spell tested on her to help Rainbow. Ep. 19: Twilight is the one who tries to save A.J when she's being pulled into the hole. S2 Ep. 1: Twilight is quick to find Applejack in the maze. S2 Ep. 2: When Twilight asks the others if they cared, Liar-AJ says "no". Going out to the edge of town, Twilight goes to fight for A.J's friendship first. In AJ's memory flashback, there are more images of her and Twi then with any other one pony. A.J is the only one to ask for forgiveness after turning back. S2 Ep.4: Even as she's afraid, Applejack is quick to help Twilight with Luna. S2 Ep.6: A.J goes to Twilight for help on her sister. S2 Ep.7-8: The two of them comment on Rainbow's antics privately. S2 Ep.10: Of her friends, Twilight goes to A.J, and not Fluttershy, for help on an out of control dragon. S2 Ep.14: After running, Twilight is furthest out on the platform as A.J's train departs. She questions A.J and leaves the assembly line first to get information on what happened. And Twilight's first to try to cheer A.J up as the truth finally comes out. S2 Ep.15: Applejack confines in Twilight about her worries and the latter checks up on her through the episode. Even being at different ends of the cider making assembly line, both collapse next to each other and share a congratulation on their hard work. S2 Ep.25: Applejack is the one who congratulates Twilight on her brother's wedding and comes up with the P.F.F lingo (pony friends forever). On the train, Applejack goes up to Twilight, trying to comfort her about what's been upsetting her and pushes her to talk to Shining Armor. Twilight is hanging with A.J first during the wedding preparation. S2 Ep. 26: Twilight saves A.J during the fight, taking just her word that she's not a changeling. The only one who apologizes to Twilight for not believing in her is Applejack. S3 Ep. 1: A.J embraces Twilight after the "wasn't prepared for it" song. S3 Ep. 5: Applejack tries, unsuccessful, to stand up to Trixie to bring Twilight home. S3 Ep. 9: AJ knows how to break Twilight out of her study stump and thinks she scared her for moving one of the ink pots. S3 Ep. 13: A.J is first to recognize Twilight during the changing and walks up to her first after her transformation. She's the closest of the mane 6 to the center of the crowning ceremony. Twilight actually makes A.J cry for a good reason. Movie (not spoiler because it was on the first preview): Right as things start, A.J's by Twilight's side talking about the whole princess deal as the others are literally going off in different directions. Other things I've noted: - Even as Twilight's the unofficial leader, she defers a lot to A.J and lets A.J take charge at times and order her around (example: getting Fluttershy up the mountain, the Parasprite plan, in the Diamond dog cave, leading the recuse into the west, sending her to her brother, the Timberwolf plan). - Half of Applejack episodes have Twilight really stepping up above the others to help out AJ. - Unless she's literally half across Equestria, A.J is always a part of Twilight's group plans. Any one or two of the examples above won't mean much, but together I think they paint a different picture of this friendship. So, do you think A.J is Twilight's best friend? If you agree that she is, what have you notices before this? Is Twilight AJ's best friend too? If you don't agree, who do you see as more likely to be Twilight's best friend? Or, how do you see the relationships between the others and Twilight? ---
