  1. Is anyone else a fan of the series Naked and Afraid that airs on Discovery channel? For those of you unfamiliar, it’s about a camera crew that follows two individuals as they attempt to survive in the wild fir 21 days and they are without clothes. I have been watching it since its first season.
  2. Ponyfinder - Age of Adventure Equestria is a land of magic, joined by the allied Crystal Empire in more recent history, a nation built upon the principles of Harmony, Unity, and Friendship. Where ponies and other races may join together for a common cause, bringing about grand cities and close-knit towns. Where ponies may discover their destiny and pursue their dreams, show by a cutiemark that guides their lives. Following the three Divine Lights that are the holy sisters Celestia and Luna, joined by the crystal princess Cadance who are the avatars of their goddesses. Yet this land is also a place of danger and uncertainty, with a long past where legends and folklore can prove true with the appearance of many threats long forgotten. Also, not all believe in the ideals taught by the Divine Lights, that of Harmony and Friendship, selfishly following their own path without concern for others. With power to be gained and ancient secrets discovered not all is as it seems. Princess Celestia's sacred light hiding many things over the millennium she ruled alone as well as time before with her beloved sister. The Times of Discord, that of Eternal Night’s Fall, the Tyranny of the Shadow King, this and more that have revealed themselves to but a few. Now, with such examples as the Bearers of the Elements of Harmony and heroes older still record in lore, adventurers and others have come forth in to find adventure and fortune. To gain fame or infamy, uncover knowledge and lost artifacts of the past, to fight monsters and villains that others would tremble in fear at. Will you follow the call? That of adventure in an age where friendship is taught yet darkness and regrets can be found, of dangers and monsters, secrets and mysteries. So much can be found for the curious and strong of heart, the timid and the brash, the elegant and the hardworking. Character List ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I will be adding rules and information on the roleplay as time goes on. Playable Races: Earthbound (Earth Ponies), Unicorns, Pegasus, Gem Ponies (Crystal Ponies), Zebras, Drakehooves (Dragon Ponies, Eastern, Kirin), Leather Wings (Bat Ponies)*, Sun Ponies (Desert Ponies, Saddle Arabians), Short Legs (Think Flufflepuff, particularly with certain feats, or other shorter legged/smaller ponies), Hippogriffs, Doopleganger (Changelings), Flutterponies*, Sea Horses (Sea Ponies)*, Ghost Ponies*, Chaos Hunters*, Griffons (Only the Predator, Cheetah, Prey, Scavenger, Sea, and Snow aspects), Coven (Goats), The Impure (Donkeys), Purrsians*, Ruminants (Deer)*, and Big Mao (Pandas)*, Luminous Dragons (Dragons like Spike), Gem Gnoll (Diamond Dogs). *Limited, PM me if you want to play this race. RULES: 1. Only the races provided by the Ponyfinder resources I profile in the link are allowed. 2. Only the rules/information given in the following links, taken from the Ponyfinder Campaign Setting: Dawn of the Fifth Age, D&D 5e, Unearthed Arcana, and some 3rd Party with permission. Main resources can all found here. though Unearthed Arcana and other 3rd Party can be looked for. 3. Alignment will be handled as shown here. 5. We will be using the Focus and Foible system to generate ability scores. First, choose a Focus, an ability score at which you excel. You receive an 18 in that score. Next, choose a Foible, an ability score that is your weakness. You receive an 8 in that score. The other four, roll 1d10+7 four times. There are no rerolls, but you can decide where each of these other four scores go. 6. Standard equipment and gold for 1st level characters. 8. You can buy no item for more then half your starting gold, and are advised that you balance purchases between weapons, armour, and other items based on class. You can pick one common magic item, if it can be afforded. 9. Players will need to use an Editable Pathfinder Character Sheet, as provided here. 10. Characters of evil alignment will not be allowed, also certain classes may well have negative stigmatism attached to them such as necromancers or clerics of the death domain. 11. The use of dark magic is strictly forbidden by Equestrian law, with few being allowed to even study it. Dark magic counts all magic with the evil descriptor as well as potentially other spells, so if you're uncertain please ask. Use of dark magic will slowly corrupt and turn evil a character, no matter how good one's intentions were. 12. These rules may be added to at anytime but before the beginning of a session.
  3. With "Star Trek: Discovery" premiering tonight on CBS & CBS All Access, I have to wonder how many people are excited for it? Honestly...I'm cautiously optimistic. I know there have been a LOT of issues during production and fans have certainly not been happy with a lot of things, but as someone who grew up with Star Trek and considers it one of the things keep to my development, I remain hopeful. I want to see Discovery succeed. There hasn't been a Trek series since Enterprise was canceled, and I need a series to really follow. So, how about you guys? Any Trek fans here? Any hopes for Discovery, or just want to see it cancelled?
  4. Quick thought - what if little girls who were allowed to browse the internet (and Spotify) found the fandom's music? How would a mom react if she discovered her precious 8 y/o had been listening to "Love Me Cheerilee"? Would they be enchanted with the Living Tombstone and Sim Gretina's remixes of Smile and BBBFF? I think they'd be either shocked or fascinated. But I wanna hear from you guys. What would the reaction be - from child and parent?
  5. I hardly watch Discovery Family, but I noticed that none of the Season 5 trailers actually show the channel's logo, nor do they acknowledge the network at all. Could Hasbro be planning a Channel Hop?
  6. Welcome to my fifth and final part of my top 10 lists for my favorite shows. Part 1 was Nickelodeon shows, Part 2, was Cartoon Network shows, Part 3 was Disney shows, Part 4 was Anime shows, and now Part 5 will be about My Top 10 Miscellaneous/Other shows. This list will include shows not generally from Nick, CN, Disney, or Anime and generally from other networks whether it's Fox, Discovery, PBS, or whatever. Here We Go! #10: Thomas & Friends This is a show from my childhood about anthropomorphic trains like Thomas and adventures on Sodor. When I was a kid I used to have toys as well. I don't watch this much anymore but it's one from my childhood. #9: Super Mario World This was based on the Snes game Super Mario World and is my favorite Mario cartoon show. It's the most relatable Mario show for me, and it's got some funny yet cheesy gags but yeah it's pretty decent. #8: Magic School Bus Another show I remember from my childhood. This show follows school kids and their teacher going on the Magic School Bug and taking field trips to all kinds of places like Outer Space, the Ocean or whatever. This is one of my favorite educational shows. #7: Looney Tunes The original Looney Tunes cartoons from the 30's, 40's, 50's, and 60's are some of the greatest cartoons of all time. How else can I sum them up than by saying, They're funny, they're clever, they're absolutely wonderful. #6: Popeye the Sailor Even though Looney Tunes is so good, the classic cartoon I'm more fond of is Popeye which is a sailorman who eats spinach to get strength, and fights Bluto most of the time. #5: Wallace & Gromit A british stop motion claymation style show I've seen since I was a wee lad. It follows a man named Wallace who loves cheese and his dog Gromit. There is also a spin off called Shaun the Sheep which I have yet to see. It's my favorite british show. #4: Scooby Doo Where Are You The original Scooby Doo series centers around 4 teens and a dog named Scooby Doo and they solve mysteries of monsters and the supernatural. This is my favorite classic Hanna Barbera cartoon not counting Powerpuff Girls. #3: Arthur One of the best shows of the 90's and one I feel that doesn't get enough recognition is Arthur. Based on the children's book series, this show follows Arthur in his daily life and this show also has some valuable messages and is designed to help people with issues like Autism or Asperger's Syndrome like myself. #2: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Yes you all knew this one would make the list. It centers around colorful ponies who learn the lessons of friendship and like Arthur has some valuable messages and I feel that's one of the best parts and I feel the messages it has don't get enough credit. I mean even the worst episodes have some valuable messages. But what else can I say other than it's cute with cute characters, relaxing, and is a nice break from other shows. But it's only at #2, what other show can top it? Well... And my #1 Favorite Misc. Show of All Time is... Honorable Mentions: Rick & Morty, Sesame Street, South Park, Family Guy, Shaun the Sheep, Animaniacs, Tom & Jerry, Flintstones, Jetsons, Yogi Bear, Cyberchase, Littlest Pet Shop, Dan Vs, Futurama, American Dad, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Dragon Tales So thanks for looking at my list of Misc. shows. And this was my final list for TV shows so I hope you enjoyed them.
  7. Just curious, where do you guys usually watch the new episodes of MLP:FiM? I myself usually get up around 8 AM to watch it live at 8:30 AM. It doesn't feel comfortable to me but I enjoy watching episodes live more than oversleeping and watching them later. I also always record the episodes just in case I miss the beginning of it.
  8. Can you get Discover Family, formerly known as the Hub, in high definition? My cable company, Cablevision, does not offer it in HD and this sounds like a common refrain. Edit: If you could, say the name of the provider and the locale.
  9. The moment The Hub was announced to become Discovery Family, I knew Discovery Communications wasn't the best company for Hasbro to choose for their new network. But of all the TV owners, why did Hasbro choose Discovery for the joint partnership? Why not NBCUniversal?, outside of Sprout, they have no general kids/family channel. Why not A&E Networks? They have no kids' network period. I'm not sure why Hasbro thought the company who specializes in reality shows and edutainment documenteries was the best option to parter for a general entertainment kids network.
  10. Currently, Hasbro holds on to 40% of the recently renamed Discovery Family, and programs the network's daytime schedule. But how long will this last? Hasbro hasn't really done anything with the daytime schedule in a while, could they be planning to phase out of the network's operations all together? Honestly I wouldn't be supprised if they did. I imagine Hasbro is just holding on to part of the network to allow some of The Hub's leftovers to finish whatever season their currently in, after which, Discovery will become the sole owner of the channel. As for Friendship is Magic, If Hasbro decides on doing a 6th Season, it would probably move to another channel, maybe Boomerang as they too are getting a shift in channel operations. If not, then they could end the show after Season 5 and and part ways with Discovery for good. This is all just speculation of course, but what are your thoughts?

    A Depressing Day...

Okay, so it's been obvious for a while now my parents are worried about me. I get that, there is good reason. So after many trials and errors with medications and doctors and therapists, they decided to take me to a psychiatrist. (This is like a 2 yr process to get to this point) Basically, this is all tipped off from my extreme introversion, self abuse, and a long history of being an outcast in school. I tended to get bullied and harassed just because I was the kid not being a jerk. That has been going on since 2nd grade... I'm in my Junior year of High School. So back on track, today was the day I went to meet him with my mother and father. So we go through many results and how I fell in the 99 percentile for tons of symptoms. We talked about many awkward things along the lines of depression, suicide, and sexual abuse and whatnot... After that is all said and done. I get to hear my results... I am a bipolar II I have possible PTSD I could be hospitalized at some point. I will be set on medications I have sleeping disorders My thought processes are messed up I am a suicidal risk And I am getting a new therapist... All of these are just added to many physical issues I have with my body. like kyphosis, a turned leg, asthma. So anyways, a very LONG meeting of awkward glances were set out, and here I am at home :/ I hope you enjoyed my story, and... I am really just putting this here so you guys get to hear about me. I don't usually talk about myself much. So, enjoy the read. It seldom happens.
  12. Okay, so I was unsure if I should post here or in Life Advice, but here it is. So basically, I am going on a trip from Maine to Florida, as I do once or twice a year. (We own a home there and like to visit family) Now, we've been doing these trips since I was very young and quite honestly, I'm getting bored. It sounds terrible because I know many many people would love to go to Florida all the time but after a while, enough is enough right? So I was looking for new things to do. We've been to all the big parks like Universal Studios, Island of Adventure, SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, all that. But we've never been to Discovery Cove and this year I'm planning on bringing my girlfriend and I'm sure she'd love to swim with dolphins. It's expensive though, so I'm looking for people who have been there. I've seen reviews on sites but I trust this community over many others. Anyone who has been there like to write a review for me? Plus, any other things to do around the Orlando area?
  13. However, all they know is that Equestria exists. They have no method of getting there, or bringing anything or anypony from there. What would you do? Would you be affected by it at all?
  14. I have always been an avid Les Stroud fan, having watched his show Survivorman on the Discovery Channel since its debut in 2004. Now that's a KNOIFE! With that said, you could imagine how ecstatic I was to find out that he has since returned for 4 more episodes in what is to be the fourth and final season of Survivorman. Now, I have mad respect for this guy. He ventures off to some of the most remote and dangerously unforgiving corners of our beautiful planet to survive alone for an extended period of time (7 days in the first 3 seasons and 10 days in the recent 4th). He carries his own camera equipment and has to make all the camera shots and angles by himself while trying to survive out in whatever harsh environment he's in! Name one other guy who does that. Didn't think so. In contrast to this, and I am sorry I am bringing this guy up, but the comparison of Les Stroud to Bear Grylls just doesn't seem fair. Stroud is on a whole 'nother level. "Hey, got anything to drink?" Now, I'm not discrediting what Grylls brings to the table. He's former British Special Ops with numerous survival escapades under his belt. And while there is no doubt that Grylls definitely possesses knowledge relevant to his (now defunct) show Man Vs. Wild, I felt that he often misled his viewers on some of the scenarios presented, among other things as well. Stroud's medium of wilderness survival seems more genuine and perhaps more practical. You can google "Les Stroud vs. Bear Grylls" and be faced with an onslaught of arguments supporting both sides. It's just my personal opinion that Stroud is better at what he does. Anyway, I'm gonna go buy some mussels, have dinner, and watch the latest Survivorman where we find Les combating the brutal Nowegian wilds. Bon apipetit! Dinner is served! 'Til next time.

  16. lets talk about the discovery network, or rather its downfall into mediocrity, now theres a few things im going to discuss here, the evolution of TLC, how animal planet is slowly becoming TLC, and this weird competion thing between discovery channel and the history channel this is just me ranting btw(if you havent already guessed) so first off, TLC, as i have come to find out, TLC used to have pretty cool shows, heck there was even was even a show about battle robots! but then something happened, now TLC is filled with dumb reality shows that only moms watch, TLC stands for "The Learning Channel" and all ive learned is that if your life is even slightly different from the norm, they will make a show about it, you have a lot of kids? you get your own show, your really short? you get your own show, you own a bakery? you get your own show. its rediculas! and lets not mention that these shows some times ruin the lives of the people on it, kate gosslin (from the show jon and kate plus 8(sadly i know the names of all these shows because my mom watches them)) had a divorce, and cant even walk out side of her house with out being attacked by paparazzi, not to mention ruined any possiblity of her 8 childern living normal lives, and if thats not enough, theres another show called toddlers in tiaras, where bratty little childern perform or something (think of a show all about diamond tiara and her bitchy clones) these children are only around 6-8 years old, and are already brats, not to mention their overly competitive mothers encourging this behavior, effectivly ruining their childrens lives, and beleive it or not, it gets better! i have heard that theres a new show comming out that focuses on one of the kids from that show! really? what happened to you TLC? you used to have educational programs, now you just have sad disappointing crap next lets talk about the decline of animal planet, i used to watch this channel all the freaking time, but now,its hardly about animals anymore, its freaking TLC, oh yeah and theres a few animals. this is truely a sad tale. the animal planet i watched when i was a kid was about animals! not people who just happen to own them! now im not entirely sure where it went down hill, but i have an idea, i think it was when steve irwin (aka the crocodile hunter) died an unfortenant death at the hands of a sting ray, after that event, is when animal planet started to fall, gradualy yes, but fall none the less, now before then, animal planet was, for the most part, kid friendly, any one of any age could watch it and enjoy what was on, soon after the death of irwin (we will call this BID or AID (Before Irwins Death and After Irwins Death)) animal planet took and interesting turn, it started airing more adult programs, programs about rouge animals and such, and for the most part they were interesting shows, meerkat manor( the closest thing to a soap opera i have ever enjoyed) had a good run, now you make this is progress right? well, normaly yes, but then it regressed, it started playing reality shows, and the programming started becoming more mediocre, to the point where it is now full of shows that are barely related to animals(theres even a show about haunted houses! come on really?) now a few good shows still cling to life like river monsters, but its just not enough, heck they dont even play reruns of crocodile hunter anymore, its really sad to see one of my old favorite networks fade into mediocrity now our last topic, discovery channel vs. history channel, unlike the other topics, i know where this started, have you ever noticed that the history channel and the discovery channel have similar programming? well, i believe it started when history channel released a show called shockwave, a shot about explosion and other similar events caught on camera, it was a good show and i enjoyed it, but shortly after, discovery released a show called destroyed in seconds, which was almost the exact same show but only 30 minutes long, even animal planet released its own variation of the concept with its show untamed and uncut, which was the same thing as shockwave, but with animals not explosions, and discovery continued this mirrored programming when history released ax men, discovery released swamp loggers, and so forth, i dont understand why they have decided to do this, but its a rather interesting development and to end this, am i the only one who thinks its ironic and funny how the green channel(a network that was supposed to have eco friendly stuff) is now discovery channels recycling bin? anyway, that all i have to say, do you have any opinions on any of these topics?
