  1. There is no denying our affinity for this show and the fandom that it has garnered. Some of us are old school cartoon fans that were drawn in by the quality animation that most modern cartoons don't have. Others were open minded enough to give the show a chance after hearing about the massive backlash to it. I myself got into the show after watching 'Teens React To MLP: FiM', and hearing the teens pass judgement on a show that they hadn't seen. Regardless of how one may have gotten into this show, I think it is fair to say that this show has become a great source of escapism for many. It's no secret that we are living in some turbulent times. There is an economic recession, the ongoing concern of global climate change, a crumbling job market, and a myriad of other things to be concerned with. There is all this negativity coming from the world around us and in comes MLP. A show completely divorced from reality. A world separate from our own. It's full of fantasy, adventure, new experiences, and just good feelings. MLP offers a form of escapism from the cold and harsh realities of our world today. It's not just overarching issues too. The show provides escapism from the simple stresses of everyday whether that be your family life, stressful job, or anything else. In a simple sense, there is nothing wrong with having something like MLP to be used for escapism. We all need something to 'detox' at the end of the day and keep ourselves sane. The problem is when it becomes less of a sense of relief and more a sense of denial. Where the person uses the escapism to deny reality and ignore the real world. In some respects I think fiction is a more powerful drug than anything. The ability to get lost in a world completely divorced of the problems that we have in our own is strangely appealing. However, falling too far down the rabbit hole can cause someone to become dangerously detached from the real world. Let me know if MLP has become a source of escapism for you. Do you think it's possible to become to separated from reality? At what point do you need to take a step back and return to the real world? I I welcome your thoughtful discussion. Cheers.
  2. Hello everypony out there! I post this cause i am starting to wonder if any off you are ever trying to escape reality, and why? I escape reality as soon as i come home from school by getting to my computer to listen to music and write or play videogames.
  3. ... inside a room with eleven red lights that drain her powers (and with it, her strength), would you devise a situation for her to escape, with these conditions below? (These lights are coated with a glassy/crystal substance that does the "sucking away her powers" thing. They, and all the lights in the space fortress, turn blue if the aliens' Emperor dies.) (Right now, the wicked Emperor is still alive (under heavy guard, in his Palace, with a civil war/surprise invasion looming ahead), and Lauren can do nothing but languish; she could try to lift herself up, or use her horn/magic, but her powers and strength are taken away into the lights to power up some departments of the spaceship. If he indeed dies, the lights turn blue, giving her strength back, and multiplying her powers by the number of lights in the room.) (If you're expecting some ponies/creatures within Lauren's heartily-created universe to save her, they can't: they're currently under the aliens' powerful mind-control system, emitted throughout the Universe. They will torture Lauren and revive her for their amusement.) (Finally, in spite of all this, would you like to create a situation in which Lauren can be saved/the Emperor will be killed?)
  4. ... and you are a Shetland pony from Earth. Celestia and Luna are now sending armies to fight each other to be Queen of Equestria, and you are neutral. However, you must go to a portal, where you can return back to Earth. On the way, agents and soldiers and troops from both sides (including the Mane Six, who are split by allegiance) are lurking, waiting to catch and forcibly recruit you, wherever you go, because you can tip the battle in their favor. What do?
  5. In the Rainbow Factory, were not a single soul gets through. That's what they say, but that's not entirely true. There was one- no, more like eight, ponies that made it out of the factory alive. Their escape was, however, an untold story. Untold, at least, until now. I guess it all started in the Rainbow Factory's 'failure' holding cells. There was Chisel: a brown maned, yellow coated stallion with blue eyes. He used to work with his mom carving statues, some of which are even displayed in Canterlot. Then there's Creator: a blue maned, black coated, maroon eyed, mute, ex-physicist colt who also developed a taste for flesh after chewing his own arm off for food. Next was Harpie: a golden maned, silver coated, emerald green eyed mare with a caramel coloured spot on her left eye and sapphire blue streaks through her mane and tale. She had the most beautiful voice, but could pop your head like balloon if she wanted to. Then there was Pip, Mark, and Orin: brown maned, red coated triplets. They always loved to try and piss off the cell guards. They somehow managed to find a way out of the cell and this one time they took a piss in the spectra. Anton, or Anon as we called him, was a grass-green maned, orange coated, red eyed master of disguise. Then, there's me, Jhurii. I'm a changeling, actually. I just wanted to see the inside of the factory, so I posed as a failure. And, even though we didn't know much about each other, we were all brothers/ sister. And we were also mental like you would not believe. Killers, psychos, arsons, you name it and one of us fit it. Anyway, we escaped the cells when they tried to take Creator for processing. Poor guy never saw it coming. As soon as Creator got out he grabbed the guard, tackled him to the floor and took a chunk out of his throat. After that he began ripping his chest open and eating him. When he was done, the only thing that was left was the head and a pile of bones, flesh, and bloody rags. He grabbed the keys off the... body?... and unlocked our cells. We got outa there as fast as we could. Creator kept the guy's head. Maybe as a trophy, I don't know. Pip, Mark, and Orin took the lead and showed us to the main floor, where the spectra was made. As soon as we saw it, we started laughing in a sort of shocked manor from the thought of the three of them sneaking down and peeing in that huge vat of yellow colour. After we pulled our selves together, we made our way to one of the security officer's offices. I gotta say it was not pretty. When he saw us come in, he made for the alarm as fast as a cat on fire. Creator tackled him before he could hit it and started chewing on his legs while Pip gagged him. Mark and Orin started searching his desk. Anton and I interrogated him while Harpie kept a look out. The officer didn't talk, (yes, we ungagged him), so we killed him. Anton skinned him and used the officer's skin as a disguise. Creator ate what was left. Again, took his head with him for some reason. Mark and Orin found a few scalpels and a list of ponies who apparently were of high rank in the factory. Chisel started using one of the scalpels to make some shivs and Anton, waring the officer, asked for directions out of the factory. Whoever it was he asked was a complete idiot and even gave him a map of the factory. Anton still killed him, but as reward for helping him he didn't give him Creator. Just after Anton got back, we reviewed the map and made a plan for escaping the factory. We'll try to sneak to the exit and if any one saw us we'd let Creator take care of them. Simple, right? We were nearly out when guess who shows up to the party? Yes, the Factory Manager! The same bitch that stuck us all in here. Though, instead of trying killing us all, she offered us a contract to work at the factory. Celestia knows why. I guess she seemed impressed with how far we made it in our escape. And with how heartless we were in doing so, too, I guess. We denied the contract. Well, Chisel accepted, but everyone else denied. Orin somehow managed to sneak behind her and knock her out. Knocked out Chisel, too, I guess for good measure. After we got off the top floor where the factory was and were heading down to exit the building, we got to thinking, "what next? We just keep running?" That's when we noticed the empty floor right underneath the Rainbow Factory's floor. The C.W.C. building manager was there. I asked him what he was doing and what had been on this floor before it became vacant. He said the floor used to be for one of the C.W.C.'s storm factories and that he was there see what machinery had to be removed because of the, well, lack of employees willing to work in a factory that made storms that killed over a hundred ponies monthly. Too much for their consciences to handle, apparently. We offer ourselves to work there, and he seem happy to accept us as employees. He must have known about the Rainbow Factory's prison breakout because he didn't say anything about the fact that we were covered in blood. The floor we work on now is now know as Equestria's Natural Disasters Division, or E.N.D.D. ((End of part 1. Will continue story with updates every so often.))
  6. I made a remix of the song "Escape from the city" from Sonic adventure 2! Check it out down below and leave a like or comment please:
  7. Okay, simple one today. How many references to other things (Be it films, games, life in general) have you spotted in MLP FiM shows? Also, which were the best and were any of them somewhat inappropriate (Referencing things that are offensive, well over-aged Etc.)? By best Ref. so far has been Twi's Plisskin impression in 'It's about time' She just copied his looks, scar an' all. Anyway, Best Refs. Thanks in advance for any feedback. For now (Brits) I bid thee good night. Sayonara! -Joe-
