  1. The new update that includes Urien is out(Actually it was out yesterday, but I didn't download it). I'm going to give it a go right now and check out the new changes. I'm curious as to how Urien is going to match up against Cammy. I would like to try him out, but I haven't earned enough fight money to purchase him. By the way, does any one on these forums play Street Fighter V?
  2. Well, I never thought I'd feel this way, but I'm pretty much done with fighting games(or at least, playing them). As a very competitive person, that rewarding feeling of victory gets farther and father away every time I compete and witness enormous losing streaks. The reason for this is obvious: I'm getting worse, and so is my skill and execution. The barriers that block me from winning aren't just my opponents, but my nerves and eventually impatience and frustration. I'm not a violent person, but fighting games bring out the worst in me. Thankfully, I keep my rage inside rather than outside, as of today. At first I hated my victorious opponents to an extreme extent; I don't hate them at all now, but I hate the game instead. I hate the sadness and anger it made me feel, I hate the time I wasted when I thought the genre was perfect for me, and I hate the things it caused me to say to my friends and family. After more than a decade, I'm willing to drop fighting games entirely and focus on more cooperative video games. I'll probably sell my arcade controller for in between $100 and $200. I just don't think it's worth the time and money to do something and leave in a worse mood than when I started. I just wanted to vent, and I already feel better now after letting this out. Thanks for reading.
  3. So when I ask this question, I typically try to have the combatants have some kind of common theme or comparable spirit to their characters. In this case, I suppose it's fairly obvious, both are Russian supermen who are the big muscles and bigger heart to their respective friends and allies. Their methods of combat rely on enduring punishment and dealing it out in equal measure. What's more is that they are both card carrying members of the Soviet Union from when it still WAS the Soviet Union. That being said they aren't exactly the same. The Heavy, though appearing simple minded, is actually a bit more intellectually inclined when not doing his job where Zangief, again not stupid but is more "proletariat" in his intellect to put it politely. Plus while Zangief has close ties to his government, often having meetings with its leader and being the representative of Russia on the World Warrior circuit, the Heavy busted out of a gulag and his father was a counter-revolutionary. So if the two were to ever clash, for whatever reason you want to justify their conflict, who do you think would be victorious? (And before anypony says it, think of how many rounds each member of the Team takes before dying, how often melee kills happen in TF2, and that Zangief is of similar build to the Heavy and the Heavy can take a massive number of shots from another Heavy's minigun before dying.) Now all that being said, let's get ready to rumblllllllllllllllllllllllllle!
  4. Not to call doom and gloom, but i fear this game is gonna flop, because of 3 reasons. 1. It's a fighting game. If you want to publish a fighting game, you should seriously aim at Console gamers, because not every PC gamer wants to buy a controller and rather play stuff with their Keyboards. 2. The game will cost 40$ and only has 6 or 7 characters. Street Fighter 2 in 1991 had 8 characters in the Arcades and these days, we have fighting games that have 40 or 50 unique characters, so this game dosen't have alot of variety. 3. Only Bronies will care about it and that's not really all bronies, because of the simple fact "it dosen't have ponies in it." And Bronies who do buy it, are just buying it, because it's the closest thing they get to "Fighting is Magic." Maybe i am wrong. Maybe it will be a huge success. But i simply don't see it. I added this, because this theme is awesome. EDIT: I was informed that the normal price tag is 20 $. It won't change my general opinion of the games success, but i think maybe it will make it a bit more interesting.
  5. Mine would have to be the Guilty Gear series. I just like the anime style of it, plus I am somewhat good at it. I play as Sol-Badguy.
  6. I grew up with Soul Calibur and Virtua Fighter. Ever since I was a kid, I memorized the combos, worked on my timing, and practiced constantly. Then Soul Calibur 6 (edit: meant 5. Thanks roberno2k) really pissed me off and I moved onto other games like Tekken, Guilty Gear, and Street Fighter. However, I felt there was something off about them. I just recently I figured out what was irking me... THERE'S NO DEDICATED BLOCK BUTTON. I know this may seem silly, but I don't get this. Is there some kind of advantage to having to hold the analog stick away from the opponent to block? Is there some advantage that I'm not aware of? I figured I might as well ask you guys, because frankly I'm not really a part of any big forums other than this, and I'm not the most hardcore of fighting game aficionados (I still don't know what a wave-dash is, for example). (edit: wow, a LOT of typos in there. I'm actually shocked I didn't catch most of these.)
