Mega Thread What are your computer specs?

Tell everyone about your computer (or computers, if you use more than one)! What model is it and what OS does it run? Myself, I work from two laptops: an HP Pavilion dv6-3170ca for school, and an HP EliteBook 8740w for home (mostly) - both run Windows 7 x64. Here's the smaller one: Specs: Intel i5 2.2 GHz Dual Core w/ Hyper-Threading (up to 2.8 GHz w/ TurboBoost) integrated graphics 4 GB DDR3 RAM 500 GB 7200 RPM hard drive 15" glossy screen (1366x768x24) fingerprint reader Blu-ray drive (read-only) And the larger: Specs: Intel i7 1.7 GHz Quad Core w/ Hyper-Threading (up to 3.06 GHz w/ TurboBoost) NVIDIA Quadro 5000M GPU w/ 2 GB GDDR5 VRAM 8 GB DDR3 RAM (high speed - 1333 MHz!) 500 GB 7200 RPM hard drive 17" 1.07 billion-colour matte screen (1920x1200x30) fingerprint reader backlit, spillproof keyboard Both are beautiful computers and serve me really well. I use the dv6 for school because it wasn't a very expensive computer and has great battery life, and the EliteBook is my awesome gaming/do-it-all machine.
  6. I'm sure this thread has been posted multiple times, but I figured to give it a new kick start! Anypony here play MTG? What kinds of formats do you like to play? What's your favorite color (or color combination) to play? As for me, I like Commander, and my favorite color combo is UWR, or Jeskai/America. Hoping to chat Magic with anyone here!
  7. I thought it might be a fun way to show our age So basically what you do is think back when you were a 10 or less and tell us what new gaming system was out when you were a youngen so I will show my ancientness...when I was a kid it was the Intellivision and then the Atari 2600 was big. Then the NES followed by the Atari 7800 I couldn't get enough of Burgertime and Circus
  8. The games I am very fond of are the games I use to play as a very young boy. My brother let his friend borrow Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, a game that I am so fond of, but I cannot play anymore because he hasn't given it back yet. He doesn't even play it. Another game is Super Monkey Ball Adventure. It's a game on the GameCube, the game that came out after Amusement Vision was stopping to create Super Monkey Ball and Sega took over. I remember that game so much. I remember my main was MeeMee for some reason. Another is Sonic Heroes, my brother played that game a lot on the GameCube. I played it a little, even though it wasn't my kind of game. Still, it's a game of my childhood and it would great if I had that game. Now, what games do you no longer have access to? UPDATE: Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg was given back from my bro's friend and I can play it now.

Gaming What was your first steam game?

My first steam game was Garry's Mod. It was also the first multiplayer game I've ever played on PC. Literally first time I've played with actual people! It was one of the greatest experiences I've ever had! But Steam has been around with us for a very long time and I'm curious. I wanted to know from you guys what was your first steam game! What was your experience with your first game like? Did you had fun with it?
  10. Found this while looking for things to satisfy my dogfighting needs while I wait to be able to play AC7. 3 flyable planes, 3 demo missions so far, and I gotta say, this looks damn good for how early it is in it's crowdfunding lifespan. Graphics are nice, sound design is really good, and the flight physics are some of the best I've seen (keeping in mind this is arcade style, not a full simulation like, say, DCS.) One of my favorite touches is how they actually have missiles drop away from your plane before igniting their engines, I've seen very few arcade style flight sims remember to have that incorporated. On that note, what have some of your favorite arcade style flight sims been? Modern or WWII based, doesn't matter. I'm personally fond of the HAWX games, while they're a bit less realistic even for an arcade game, I liked the ability they included to swap into a flight mode that lets your plane essentially Tokyo Drift for some sick acrobatics. Like I said, not the most realistic of things, but felt and looked cool as hell

Gaming Anyone else play Star Stable?

Just wondering if anypony else here plays Star Stable? If you don't know what Star Stable is it's an MMORPG with horse riding:
  12. Welcome to Classic Games Discussion Thread (Unofficial)! This is a place to talk about all classic games and all things classic or retro. From Doom, to Zelda, from NES to N64, from PC to console, this is a place to talk about all things related to classic or retro games. Be it games that deserve a remake, games that need a sequel, or just discussing how great some of these older games are, this is the place for you. All older games deserve the same love as newer games, so feel free to share some old classics that many of us maybe haven't played yet! What constitutes classic? The jury is out on this one, but a vast majority of people consider classic games that are not current generation and most of the time past a certain age threshold. Most people would argue that classic is anything that came before the Xbox 360 currently, but obviously as time goes on, games that were previously not considered "classic" will become classic. A few good rules of thumb to follow when identifying if a game is classic or retro: Is the game over 10 years old? Is it available on the Xbox 360, Wii or PS3 upon its initial launch? Would many consider it "retro"? Are you able to find it easily in retail stores such as GameStop, or Walmart still to this day? Would you find it in a retro game store? Is it re-released on Nintendo's Virtual Console, PSone Classics on PSN, or the Xbox Live Arcade? How easy is it to get your hands on a legit copy? All questions to ask when you are determining if a game is classic or retro. A good rule of thumb that a lot of people go by is since 2005 was the year that last generation started, any game that was made before 2005 is mostly considered classic or retro. If it was made before 2005 chances are it's retro enough to talk about here. The exceptions mostly being games that are still being actively updated since then such as World of Warcraft. Minor updates don't count, such as GoG updating older games to work on new systems, and there are random exceptions such as Bethesda releasing a new episode of Quake after 20 years to celebrate the game's anniversary. What kind of stuff can I talk about in this thread? All things retro and classic, be it hardware discusses, tips, tricks, easter eggs, you name it. Some ideas of things you can discuss to get the ball rolling for you: Easter eggs in old games. Desire for remakes/current remakes Port comparison Buying guides Emulation discussion (within legal limits) Recommendations Reviews Mods for old games Show off your collection Show off your old school achievements Talk about old school hardware Make friends There is plenty to discuss for all people! Useful Links Below are some useful links to take advantage of if you're looking to get into classic games or retro playing. Keep in mind no one works for any of these sites and these are not endorsed in any way by MLP Forums. I am not advertising these sites, merely offering them as resources for you to use. GOG - A source for old school PC games. GOG prides itself on fair pricing, no DRM and getting classic PC games running on modern systems. They're an excellent source for those older PC titles that you've been craving to try out and for a reasonable price. Highly recommended for the PC gamer who wants to take a trip back in time to when office computers could actually run "modern" games and when story telling was crucial to the success of a game. Steam - I don't think Valve's distribution platform really needs much introduction, but you can find a good handful of classic titles on Steam these days, from Counter-Strike to I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, Steam is actually becoming a pretty good platform to get classic games on, especially with devs re-releasing games to support it. eBay - If you're someone who prefers physical copies of old games, eBay is obviously going to be a place where you'll need to frequent to get your hands on hardware and software. Please do not link any ebay listings in this thread though as it violates MLPF rules. This is only linked for those who are unfamiliar with it (doubtful there are many) and no personal selling is permitted on this thread or anywhere else on MLPF. GameStop (US) - A little while ago, GameStop actually introduced a retro games program to get your hands on older games and hardware. While it's still limited and mostly restricted to US residents, it's a good place to start. Emulator Zone - FOREWARNING, NO POSTING OF ROMS, ISOS OR ILLEGAL DOWNLOADS. Emulation is a legal grey area, but if you own the games already emulation is actually perfectly legal, it's also legal for shareware and abandonware. It can be very useful for playing those cartridges you have laying around but don't want to break out the old hardware, or even just getting your games on the go. DOSBox - Essential for running a good chunk of old school PC games. While it is an emulator, it is almost mandatory for games that were made in MSDOS. It is also useful at running Windows 3.1 games.
  13. EA: "Don't like it, don't buy it! " Everyone else: "...Okay! " Yup, Battlefield V flopping has really done a number on the company, proving that making an enemy out of the customer is the worst thing you can do as a business.
  14. *Disclaimer: This thread is meant to be about the singleplayer mode, not Red Dead Online. So Red Dead Redemption 2 has been out for a bit now, and most of us have had a chance to complete at least one playthrough (or at least get a decent ways into the game). Now, don't get me wrong, it's a damn good game, and gorgeous as hell, but it's not this level of good: This would imply there's literally nothing wrong or worthy of critiquing in the game, which is objectively just not true. So my question is, as the title says: what, in your opinion, is the biggest thing worth critiquing, the biggest drawback, the biggest annoyance you have with RDR2? Personally, I think mine would be the bounty/wanted system. While yes, the story does try and steer you towards an honorable playthrough (or at least ending), you are, at the end of the day, an outlaw-a criminal. And they appropriately included robbery mechanics-why include them if they're not meant to be used? But the way the wanted system works, from response time of the law, to the law's omniscience, to the convoluted and ill-explained (both in game and by the devs themselves) mechanic to remain anonymous, to the poor AI when it comes to receiving a bounty for self defense or NPC stupidity (seriously, get those horses some turn signals ), this entire portion of the game just seems poorly implemented at best, flat out broken at worst. Especially when it comes to non-story train robberies. There's simply no way whatsoever to get in and get out before the law arrives, and they spawn whether a witness actually gets away or not, and spawn within seconds of you taking out the engineer. This is one of the most lucrative activities in terms of time-efficiency and payout (unless you google gold bar locations and hunt them down, but that feels like cheating); but with how it's working it's pointless because you get a bounty worth as much or more than the loot you snag from the train. Kind of takes the 'outlaw' out of actually being...well, an outlaw. And what's sad is Rockstar is likely not going to implement a fix for this, because it would require a drastic overhaul of a base/core system from the ground up. I'd say that's something that would/should detract from a perfect 100 review score, hm? I also agree with a lot of the points made in this vid-the good and the bad-and I'd be curious to hear people's thoughts on this as well (also linking this vid because I like sharing teh lulz ):

Hey, everypony. ^^ I hope I'm not the only one here who's heard of's infamous series: For those who know what I'm talking about, sweet! ^^ For those who may not, allow me to explain. ^^ Death Battle is a series where 2 characters from (usually) video games, have their "skills, weapons, and armor" completely analyzed by 2 awesome bros known as Wizard and Boomstick, to see who would win a fight. It's actually a really awesome series, I would highly recommend it to those who haven't watched it. ^^ Death Battle has answered some of the most common asked questions to "who would win a fight between x and x?" Some of their most infamous battles have been: Goku VS Superman Mario VS Sonic Spider-Man VS Batman and just for us Bronies Starscream VS Rainbow Dash This series is really cool, and I think there's some serious discussion behind all this. ^^ Today, they have just released their newest Death Battle: Luigi VS Tails Now, take these with a grain of salt, because there's a lot more battles then these I've just named. ^^ For those who have already seen the videos and wish to discuss, I ask that you keep spoiling parts under spoiler tags. Oh, and did I mention that they animate a fight at the end of the videos? Very cool! ^^ So, that's about it. ^^" I'm not entirely sure where to start discussion besides saying that today's Luigi VS Tails battle was amazing! ^^ Has anyone else seen it yet? ^^
  16. So say if a video game rental store tries to make it in this digital age say for instance.....lets call it Armor Games Rental ! and for this idea to work you can rent the latest games for 7 days and for a late fee is 5$ on any system and the motto for the store will be , Got slow internet ? Dont have the time to wait for a big download ? well come to Armor Games rental store ! , all the latest games you can rent when they are available ! so my question is would it work in 2018 in rural areas ?
  17. What video game(s) that you just cannot get into no matter how hard you try to enjoy it . I got Arma III as a gift from my cousin. I tried getting into that game, it is just way to difficult and tedious just to do something. What are yours?
  18. The appearance of a certain DLC item has been causing a lot of friction in the fighting game community lately, so I thought I'd see what everyone here thinks on the subject. Are people bullying this kid for a costume that he designed, or is he really just an egotistical prick who deserves all the hate he's getting? This is "MenaRD". He's a Street Fighter V player from the Dominican Republic. And this is what he wore when he won Capcom Cup 2017. Everyone sees RD as an upstart. He's new, so when he beats one of Japan's best players in the grand finals, all the fanboys are gonna come out and make excuses for why he should have lost. No surprise there. And here's the character that RD used to win the tournament. This is Birdie. All you really need to know about him is in his appearance. He's a British street punk, who's also a glutton, and he fights with chains. Now here's where people are really starting to trash RD. Aside from winning a shit load of money, one of the grand prizes at each year's Capcom Cup is the opportunity to design a new costume for the character you used. So Birdie has just gotten the third "Champion's Choice" costume for Street Fighter V since it was released. Necalli and Guile were used to win the previous two years, and these were the costumes given to them by their respective players. Surely, you'd think RD would feel pressured to come up with something just as good for Birdie after seeing these. Right? Apparently not, because this is what Capcom revealed before Evo 2018 yesterday. This is it. Just Birdie in his vest and chains.... and RD's clothes: the very same white shirt, trousers and black sneakers that RD wore when he got on stage and won the 2017 championship. There's even a necklace that says "RD" on it, and a fucking Capcom Cup trophy at the end of the chains. As if that wasn't enough, there's an easter egg that comes with inputting a code before the start of each round. What does this change? The mohawked hair gets swapped out for RD's actual hair. Now, I've never met this kid. I don't know him to any extent to where I could say he's conceited or not, and I'm certainly not deluded enough to say that he had no right to make this costume. He did earn it. But still... what the hell? If RD wanted the satisfaction of playing as himself, he could have just gotten the PC version and made his own custom skin. But he had to make that an official DLC costume. Just why? When people spend money on a costume, they want it to be good. They want it to look badass, and fitting for the character wearing it. And this is neither. I don't know if this is just fucking lazy, or if it really is an extension of RD's inflated ego. I mean, I don't think I'll ever be good enough to win one of these tournaments, but I know that if I did, and they let me make a costume for my man Urien.... .... I'm not gonna stick him in a pair of jeans, and a ragged-looking old vest. And I'm certainly not gonna change his hair to match mine either. He's a rage-driven tyrant. I'm nothing like him. So why would I bother making him look like ME when I could give him an outfit that makes sense? Would you do something like that? Or hell, would you be open to letting some talented developers put you in ANY game? Because I just don't see the point to it.

    Gaming Done with Nintendo

Anyone else feel kinda done with Nintendo these days? Like most of us, i grew up with the consoles (N64, GC, GBC) and utterly love them and the games to death, but recently Im finding it so difficult to be hyped by new games and products by them. I think its because Nintendo drive more to their gimicks than good timeless games now. The only exceptions being Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey. I never liked the Wii when it came out because it was gimmicky. I loved the WiiU because it brought the gaming back (for its short life) but the gimmick was now in the game pad more than waving controllers around. Then the switch came out and I just hate this console as its gone gimicks again. I am really not a fan of the whole remaster/remake/reboot thing that game devs have been doing. I find Nintendo doing it almost wrong.... the WiiU wasnt that long ago and already we have remakes on the switch? Im just not feeling anything towards their console games in general. (Like I said earlier, Zelda and Mario are great games, but thats only 2 games in total). Now I love the handheld consoles theyve done. Hate the decisons they made towards the (3)DS though. like 3D gaming was rubbish, but the console was great. Then wtf were they thinking with the original 2DS design! They took away the best feature of the 3DS which was the flip screen (idiots) plus the 2DS looked ugly and then only in the last year they suddenly go "oooh lets just take the 3D away since it wasnt that popular". I wouldve bought a flipping new 2DS if they released it earlier or as the original 2DS..... ugh. Gamewise I still feel like they massivly missed out on a launch title for the 3DS and the WiiU. They shouldve done a new version of Pokemon Snap. The technology wouldve been perfect for that. Also on the note of Pokemon - they also seem to be losing their focus. Its not on the pokemon anymore, Sun and Moon have become obsessed with these flipping Ultra Beasts - thats another rant for later. But its now become another franchise of games that I idolised and treasured thats just disappointed me greatly. Am I just stuck on nostlagia again? So yeah theres my rant, does anyone else fele the same towards Nintendo now? Ive certainly moved on to being a PC gamer (love it) and we recently got a PS4, which is a far superior console and great exclusive games..... which has just left Nintendo in the dirt compared. Sony have gotten the forumla right. They focused on good exclusive games and the gimicks are as an option as a whole seperate thing. Not forced into their games.

  21. Legend of Zelda is a great game series. I want to know which games is your favorite. Vote above and post reasons below. My favorite is Twilight Princess. I know not many people like this one, but I really like this one. It was also the first one I had ever played in the series. It was very dark (I like dark) and had a great story. Also, it had Midna, the best Legend of Zelda character ever. Feel free to discuss the series as well.
  22. I thought I made this thread before, but apparently not. So, here it is! There is a recent purchases thread in general discussion, but this will be specifically for anything gaming related. ^__^ So if you have bought anything that is in the category of gaming, share it here! I will say this one now, tomorrow I will be buying the Attack on Titan game for Xbox One, since I cannot pre-order it. Really looking forward to it. :3

Gaming I miss the legit Paper Mario

Paper Mario is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable and loved Mario spin-off. Sadly, it has lost it’s way in recent years, with half-baked games that haven’t been received too well while at first it captivated with a more strategic JRPG gameplay and story of greater standard out of Mario games. I’ll leave some interesting videos on the matter

    Gaming Favorite Childhood Video Game?

Hi all, I was just wondering what video games you all have special memories of. I'd ask you to list the game(s) and why you like them/remember them Personally, mine are Banjo Kazooie, Super Mario Bros 3, and Viva Pinata. Banjo Kazooie because it's what made me realize video games are more than just entertainment, they're works of art! Super Mario Bros 3 because my dad and I used to play it together. Viva Pinata because it was so nice, cheery and relaxing, and my friends and I would always share tips with each other, which got us bonding.
  25. Do you still play video games that you played a lot in your childhood? I know I do. I still love to play the Crash Bandicoot trilogy (well, almost. haven't played the 1st crash 3 years ago...) and some PS1 game called Winter Releases 1998. It's technically not a game, but a demo disc. But otherwise I love it. I'm also considering finishing a certain game in my childhood, but I don't have the motivation to do so. I usually like to play them either to complete them or for the nostalgia.
