  1. Greetings, Ponies of the MLP Forums! This is a topic in which, you are allowed to ask questions to me and any of my five amazing friends. Sup? Hello, Darlings. Howdy! Hiya! Um...Hello? I show up, too sometimes. "The Great and Powerful" Trixie has decided to grace this thread with her presence as well. Before we begin, I would like to thank our friends @Totally Lyra & Lyra Heartstrings for giving us this idea. Rules: Please keep your questions clean/No cussing. No shipping questions. No Pre-Release Episode Spoilers. Questions should only be directed at the ponies in the thread title. No repetitive questions please.
  2. Where the Mane Six has reached their goals since season 7 (Rainbow Dash joins the Wonderbolts, Fluttershy builds the sanctuary etc.), do you think there are/were more rooms for them to grow and be explored as characters? And if so, what would it be about? I think they should have made more new situations and perspectives on them to explore. Make a completely new concept from a character if necessary. I can't imagine making a new Mane Six episode without doing it and still being fresh and fun as much as before. I think the common way to tackle this topic, which was already done by the show, is to set up a new threat to their position. For example, Rarity was one of the earliest character that was already successful in their field. But in Canterlot Boutique, she was challenged by Sassy Saddles, and it's kind of conflict that couldn't have happened if she wasn't that successful already. Rainbow Dash faces something seemingly similar with Lightning Dust in The Washouts, but it was primarily about Scootaloo and the same kind of conflict could have occured even when Rainbow Dash wasn't a Wonderbolt. It would have been interesting if there were a new flyer who could genuinely fly faster than Rainbow Dash. Pinkie Pie in Pinkie Pride is similar, but she was already in the same position since the show's start. Another way is to explore around their new status. It would have been interesting if we could know more details about Fluttershy's new sanctuary. I think Fluttershy in her new sanctuary with her animal friends has a potential to be its own TV show. CMCs and the episodes after them getting cutie marks kinda does this, where they were consulting blank flanks, and they were a new episode materials. Rainbow Dash and her Wonerbolt academy episodes explores her new workplace, but the episodes were controversial and had mixed reactions. Most importantly, after she joins the Wonderboldts for good, all she had to do was practice off-screen and perform acrobatics, which was oddly less interesting than when she wasn't a Wonderbolt. The Wonderbolt academy and the Wonderbolt members wasn't explored interestingly and had bad impressions to be honest. Twilight with her new princess position was probably the biggest kind of it. Twilight Time cleverly deals with her change in position while keeping her character's charm and as a grounded character as well. Another way is to tackle the character in a completely new perspective. This can work regardless of their new status. In Amending Fences, Twilight has to deal with her past mistakes of being unfriendly. This is less about being a princess and more about being a friend. Forever Filly explores the characters from a new perspective, but it is about the change and the new status they were currently in. Where the Apple Lies is about Applejack's past. For exploring past mistakes, it is similar to Amending Fences, but it feels more like a separate story line of its own. And digging up the character's past has huge limitations. Applejack being a musician kinda falls into this category, but it wasn't explored completely, and I don't feel strong about the idea. More importantly, it's about the exterior, not the interior of the character. Slice of Life did this to the whole show itself and the background characters. If the Mane Six could be dealt with the same kind of touch, it could be great. My specific ideas about what the Mane Six episodes could have done after they reached their goals are this. After Rainbow Dash being a Wonderbolt : There could have been more thoughts about what being a Wonderbolt is and their role as a public service. Also, I would like to know more about the Wonderbolt members and their relationship with Rainbow Dash, and also the whole institution. There could have been more insight about being an athlete and about self-discipline. After Twilight being a princess : It would have been better if the episodes were more about being a good friend and less about being a princess, which is the whole point of being a princess of friendship. Ultimately that makes her a better princess as well. Rarity : Maybe the Mane Six should have had a more episodes about their romantic interest. And if so, Rarity would be the perfect pony. There could have been more about what being such a successful and famous designer is, and also an insight about the creator/consumer relationship which the show sometimes dealt. After Fluttershy and her sanctuary : Episodes about Fluttershy meeting new animals who need help. Showing how the sanctuary specifically works and what it's all about. Pinkie Pie : Her having a better sense of reality and reevaluating herself and a better understanding of herself. The Last Laugh was about her unnecessarily finding a purpose of life which she already knew. But she could at least think about it again more deeply. Applejack : Applejack already knows what to do. But there could have been more about her being in charge and being more comfortable about it, evolving from herself in Apple Family Reunion. Applejack episodes could also focus more about her as an individual and less about her family.
  3. All of the ponies have nice names, but some people like to give nicknames to them. I was wondering which ponies you gave nicknames too and what the nickname was? Here is my list: Fluttershy-Flutters Twilight Sparkle- Twi Rainbow Dash- Dashie Octavia- Tavi Luna- Woona (Almost forgot about Luna) Rarity- Marshmallow
  4. From what we have seen in the show which of the mane 6 is the most badass. Rarity! Fluttershy! Applejack! Twilight Sparkle! Pinkie Pie! Rainbow Dash!
  5. Their personalities and antics are the factors at hand. I realize Fluttershy may get along with everyone but for some people this is not the case. (Moderator edit, 10/15/2012: This thread now covers which ponies you identify with and whose personalities are most like your own.)
  6. Something that has always bugged me about MLP is how big of a visual gap there is between the ponies of the show. We've seen foals, "adult" ponies, and elderly ponies. But we've never seen any that appear to be inbetween foals and adults in terms of size and maturity. Let's start off with what we do know: Lauren Faust has stated that the Mane 6 are young adults with a maturity level anywhere between 12-18 years of age. Fluttershy stated that she is a year older than Pinkie Pie. In "Cutie Mark Chronicles", she visually appears to be more mature than every other filly in her class. Did she just grow faster than the others? This is the closest we've seen to a "teenage pony". It's hinted in "Pinkie Pride" that Rainbow Dash is 21 years old as her birthday cake has 21 candles. This is consistent with the lifestyle of the ponies in the show. The Mane 6 are all out of school, all have jobs or occupations of some sort that a normal adult would have, and all live in their own residence by their own means. They display the intelligence of someone who's at the very least a young adult If we are to follow the traditional time period in which people mature to the point of living independently, we can presume based off this that the Mane 6 are anywhere between 17-22 years of age in "human years". In Equestria Girls, when Twilight goes through the portal, she transforms into a being who appears to be either 17 or 18 years of age as she, along with the rest of the Mane 6, are portrayed as late high school students. As for the CMC and other similar ponies, they appear to be anywhere between the ages of 7-12. Equestrian schooling seems to finish at the basic level after the human equivalent of elementary school as no "middle" or "high school" equivalents are ever mentioned. This makes sense because in Equestrian society, ponies learn their special talents (cutie marks) around this age, making further schooling largely unnecessary. The equivalent of college seems to be present, albeit as an extension of their studies in whatever talent they possess. But where are the "teenage ponies", the ones inbetween foals and adult ponies? An argument could be made that the Mane 6 are actually around 14-16 years old, but this still doesn't explain why ponies between the ages of the Mane 6 and the CMC are never seen. A few theories/explanations/possibilities that may be the cause for this: Theory 1: Around the age of 12-15, ponies undergo a massive growth spurt, quickly going from appearing like foals to appearing like adults. The reason "teenage ponies" aren't seen is because they don't stay in such a visual state for long. This would also draw a parallel with how real horses grow - they mature rapidly from child to adult. Theory 2: Some of the ponies in the show are meant to be representative of teenage ponies, however the art style and constant usage of templates causes them to appear similarly sized as adults Theory 3: The writers/designers simply never wanted to design teenage ponies, and they leave the ponies ages up in the air on purpose ------- What are your thoughts on the matter?
  7. After Shadow Play and the movie (and, technically, School Daze) had the Mane 6 save the day, I thought things went back to normal. But with School Raze having the underdogs saving the day again, I wonder if the Mane 6 aren't allowed to save the day anymore.
  8. If the show were to introduce the concept of "switching Elements" so often brought up in the fandom, what would be the most fitting and believable way from them to do it if everypony had a different Element? Here's what I think: Pinkie Pie= Honesty. Rainbow Dash= Laughter. Rarity= Magic. Twilight Sparkle= Kindness. Applejack= Loyalty. Fluttershy= Generosity.
  9. Rank the Mane 6 in terms of how much they mean to the group and how much would change if they left. Here's mine: 1.) Applejack. 2.) Rainbow Dash. 3.) Twilight Sparkle. 4.) Pinkie Pie. 5.) Rarity. 6.) Fluttershy. If someone asks me to explain mine, I will.
  10. Pretty self explanatory, rank the Mane Six separately for how much attention the get from the show (i.e. biggest role in the series, movie, EQG, and any other canon content) and how much attention they get from the fandom (i.e. "best pony", fan projects, etc.) Here's mine, from most attention to least: Show 1.) Twilight Sparkle. Even if FiM doesn't really have a main character, since the episodes arguably focus on a wide range of characters, if you were asked who the main character was, you'd probably say Twilight Sparkle. This is evident across the series, comics and books. (Yes, I'm including those). She takes on the leader role, and has been one of the primary focuses in the first EQG movie, the MLP Movie, Twilight's Kingdom, Princess Twilight Sparkle, The Return of Harmony, A Canterlot Wedding, The Crystal Empire, The Cutie Re-Mark, Shadow Play, School Daze, several of the IDW comic lines, and numerous stand alone FiM episodes. To say she isn't the most focused on in canon content would be weird, but I'd hear you out. 2.) Pinkie Pie. Is it just me, or is Pinkie taking on much more than a comic relief role now? Sure, she fell short in Season 8, but she had a lot of focus in Season 7, so I think that was necessary. Not only that, but just look at her role in the MLP Movie. A stronger role for Pinkie is definitely developing. 3.) Rainbow Dash. Not only did Rainbow garner a lot of attention in Season 8, but she's always been crucial to the show, ever since her Sonic Rainboom. The show, although sometimes showing her ego to the extreme, clearly shows respect towards her, considering everything she's done that is of importance. 4.) Rarity. Ah, here we are at the bottom three. Rarity is a character that sometimes gets a lot of attention, sometimes falls short, and sometimes just fills Pinkie's roll as the comedic support, as seen in the MLP Movie. With Rarity being such a mixed bag, it easily landed her here, as she isn't as brushed aside as the bottom two. 5.) Applejack. One year ago, Applejack would've ranked at the bottom of my list, however EQG changed my perspective on that. Not only was Applejack prominent in "RoF" but she also was giving a good load of attention in "LoE", as well as having two solos in the shorts. This wasn't all that landed her here, as she is steadily progressing in the show, too, but the roots of her character land her here. 6.) Fluttershy. Unlike Applejack, Flutters is steadily regressing in the attention the show, as well as EQG, is giving her. What is to blame for this? I'd say that it was Flutters arc to make her more sure of herself. Now, I guess the show doesn't see much to do with her, as she is melting into another Applejack. Now, her former shell of personality is only played for laughs. Fandom I'm not explaining this one, as it's pretty self explanatory if you've hung around this fandom for even a week, and I believe the show's attention rankings were more important. 1.) Rainbow Dash/Fluttershy. 2.) Pinkie Pie. 3.) Rarity. 4.) Twilight Sparkle. 5.) Applejack.
  11. Here's mine in order of 1 being "loves their pet the most" and 6 being the opposite. 6.) Twilight Sparkle. Twilight sees Owlowiscious as an assistant, not really as a pet. Although her love for him is clearly there, I'm pretty sure she loves Spike more. 5.) Rarity. Again, her love for Opal is there, but man are there instances where she treats this cat horribly, mainly prominent in "Sweet and Elite". 4.) Applejack. Applejack loves Winona, of course, just not to the extent of the next top 3. 3.) Fluttershy. Fluttershy owns a LOT of pets, but "Angel" is the one we see her with the most. Fluttershy would do anything this devious little rabbit said in the earlier seasons, but now she's developed into a healthier, if not blander, character. 2.) Pinkie Pie. I try (and fail) to look at Pinkie and Gummy's relationship and not say "Awww...." because they are so cute!!!!! Pinkie's gonna Pinkie, and no where is the craziest of her shown except when she's with Gummy. I think the key episode of their relationship is "Party of One" where she almost forgets her own birthday but remember's Gummy's. Sure, a bit weird for the party extraordinaire, but nevertheless adorable. 1.) Rainbow Dash. What originally was annoyance for this tortoise soon turned into unconditional love. I'm pretty sure you all know the episode that puts Rainbow in this slot. Vice versa: 6.) Angel. He constantly abuses and takes advantage of Fluttershy, and while that has now cooled down, his previous treatment of Fluttershy has still not completely vanished. I'm sure there's SOME love he has for Fluttershy, but this bunny falls short when compared to the rest. 5.) Opal. Opal meets Rarity's actions with usual annoyance, as seen again in "Sweet and Elite". She does show love to Rarity, of course, but I think their personalities match all too well. 4.) Gummy. I'm pretty sure Gummy loves Pinkie Pie... but then again, I'm only pretty sure. 3.) Winona. Winona's a typical, happy lil' dog who loves Applejack jut how a normal dog would treat their owner. I can't fault her for this, but Winona certainly falls flat when compared to our final two. 2.) Owlowiscious. Owlowiscous is practically a second Spike, except more wise and definitely more lucky. Owlowiscous loves Twilight, too bad that love isn't often showcased in episodes now. 1.) Tank. Tank not only saved Rainbow when she was stuck, but also often just looks happy and at ease with her. Also, this: I've died of cuteness. Please help.
  12. Have you ever wanted your OC in a game? Well, I'm making a RPG maker game that needs background ponies. The OCs will be in towns I made up and will have dialogue, sprites, etc. The sprites of the OCs will be made by me, and the story plot will also be made be me. You will play the Mane 6 as they journey around a new world, going through the OC towns and communities. Naturally, I'll need a ton of OCs. You will be credited for your character and the game will be entirely free. Game updates and the finished project will be posted here. Please keep in mind this is my first game. If you want your OC in the game, you'll have to reply to this with the following: 1. A reference picture or detailed description of the character 2. A good bio of the character 3. The name you'd like me to use in the credits YOU MAY SUMBIT MORE THAN ONE CHARACTER! Please submit your characters! Thank you for reading!
  13. I've always wondered - what do you guys think the Mane 6 and CMC would look like as actual humans - no multicoloured hair, eyes, skin tones (basically human skin tones, hair colors, eye colors). By the way, please don't call anypony out for being racist just because they imagine the Mane 6 and CMC all white, that's not nice . Mane 6: Twilight Sparkle - I always imagined Twilight as either Hispanic or African- American, with thick, dark brown hair that goes halfway down her back, and dark brown eyes. Also, she would have glasses >3< Rarity - Asian, probably Korean, with waist-length black hair and dark dark brown, almost black, eyes. I don't think its possible to have black hair and blue eyes naturally. Fluttershy - Japanese- American, long light brown hair (almost blonde, but not quite), with gentle green eyes with a faint blue tint. My cousin has a friend that's Japanese, and she's very gentle and shy with others. Rainbow Dash - I always imagined her as the one that Rarity would get jealous at for her looks. For her, I imagine her as a white (don't get mad at me), with thick, platinum blonde hair, slightly below waist length (No, I'm not going to imagine her with short hair ) and large, pale blue eyes framed with jet black eyelashes. It's easier to dye blonde hair anyways, so she can easily dye it rainbow Pinkie Pie - I can't imagine a good race for her, probably either caucasian or white, with super duper curly red hair and blue eyes. Red is similar to pink, and blue is her eye color in the show Applejack - Pretty obvious, but, whatever, white with long yellow- blonde hair, green eyes, and tanned skin, since she works out in the sun frequently, CMC: Apple Bloom - white, long, straight red hair, amber eyes. #nailedit Sweetie Belle - white (I just can't imagine Sweetie Belle as an Asian, sorry Rarity ), long, curly, strawberry blonde hair, pale green eyes. The Chicken Scootaloo - white (damn I have a good chance on being called for for being racist), shoulder length red hair, and.... green eyes? I don't know. Comment down below what you would think they would have as their eye color, hair color, and race as humans! Adios!
  14. When the Tree of Harmony saved the Student 6 a student said "their glowing like the elements" that is incorrect they were glowing like the Mane 6 like the rainbow vision from season 4 were not the colors of a rainbow but the Mane 6's colors. Twilight is purple, Pinkie is pink, Rainbow dash is blue, Applejack is orange, Fluttershy is yellow, and Rarity is white. They weren't glowing the colors of the elements but the element bearers. Gallus was purple=Magic Silverstream was pink=Laughter Smolder was blue=Loyalty Yona was orange=Honesty Sandbar was yellow=Kindness Ocellus was white=Generosity
  15. What would the Mane 6 think of the MMO game, Warframe?
  16. If the Mane 6 had Autobot partners, who would they be?
  17. Sunset asking that Starlight is Twilight's student in "Mirror Magic" and Starlight saying yes indicates that this takes place before season 7. Do to the fact that Starlight was not in "Dungeons and Discord" could say after the mane 6 left to Yakyakistan Starlight went with Sunset to the EQG world and might have been a little confused about the difference between a friendship mission and a "overnight goodwill tour", and after returning being there for a few days she might have gotten a habit of using the EQG dialog such as hand which would explain why Starlight used the word hand twice in "Every Little Thing She Does". Which would make sense having "Mirror Magic" take place between "Dungeons and Discord" and "Every Little Thing She Does".
  18. Having Starlight and Trixie together in the movie means it has to take pace after "No Second Prances" sense that's the first time they met. Not having the Royal Guard would explain why Celestia had Flash Magnus be the new drill sargent after season 7. Having it take place then would also explain why the changelings and the Pillers of Equestria were not in the movie but I'm not sure about the yaks but if the movie takes place after "No Second Prances" the mane 6 haven't been to Yakyakistan yet, unless you count Pinkie kinda. But griffins probably wouldn't want to help, and sense Ember just became Dragon Lord she probably needs to impose her rule, and that I don't think the ponies would trust all the dragons yet to listen to Ember. As for the map expanding, remember the map was broken after "The Cutie Re-Mark", which would also explain why it took so long and that Mount Aris needed to be repaired and the new train station there. As for Twilight saying "This happened while we were gone?" could be when they went after the Pony of Shadows instead of the Storm King. Why Sandbar mentioned The Storm King but not Queen Chrysalis nor the Pony of Shadows is that no pony would probably know that Chrysalis replaced the mane 6, the princesses, etc and that the Pony of Shadows never appeared in public, and why Apple Bloom was recapping the movie in "surf and/or Turf" was because The Storm King was what directly affected the hippogriffs. This I the best I can do saying it takes place between season 6 episodes 6-7 and explaining how. But there is one thing that contradicts all of this unless you can help me, the new throne room, it is possible they were working on a new throne room for a while and was finished in the movie in a different part of the castle and was going to turn the old throne room into something else but for what happened to the new one in the movie they had to go back to the old one while that was being repaired, but the whole of Canterlot got repaired when they retuned all the magic at the end of the movie? Write below if you can think of any reason why Celestia and Luna would still be using the old throne room until season 8.
  19. A lot of fans seem to think the Mane 6 have reached the limit of their character development. What makes them think this?
  20. At the end of "The Ticket Master" how were the Mane 6 using magic to carry the tickets home. Spike wasn't and Twilight and Rarity make sense being unicorns but the others shouldn't be able to use magic.
  21. Fluttershy isn't shy... and never really had been, with the exception of the first episode where she first meets Twilight Sparkle. But even then, it was more of an act of social anxiety, as someone who is shy would still answer to questions, especially when they are in a one-on-one conversation. She has never acted like that since the first episode, so she was more or less out of character in comparison of the rest of the show. Yes, Fluttershy is the following: timid, introvert, meek, reticent, quiet and apprehensive, but she isn't shy; she can, and has on numerous occasions, went up to a stranger or group of strangers and talked to them, without breaking a sweat. She also has stage fright, but this is also not related with shyness. Anyone can have stage fright, but the show just decides to go with the whole cliché "cowered who is scared of everything" stereotype, and uses Fluttershy as the main protagonists that overcomes fears, instead of using other characters to create more unique and realistic character personalities. Although, this is a kids show after all. All the characters are strongly based on stereotypes and each have particular roles within the show. This is used to make it easier for the audience to follow as well as demonstrates juxtaposition between each of the characters. Most people, including myself, would have assumed Fluttershy portrayed as being shy, due to her name: Flutter"shy." However, her name is only to describe her being a pegasus and having an interest in animals. It also describes her butterfly cutie mark, by the use of assonance, consonance and end rhyme. I have done a lot of research in to this subject from books and articles; not just searches off the internet. I'm sure some people may disagree with me or have a different understanding of the word "shy." This this is just my thoughts and knowledge on the subject. I'm not trying to go against anyone who likes Fluttershy being a shy character (I'm aware some people relate to her that way, witch I think is great; there's nothing wrong with personal alterations.) I just wanted to share this information, as a lot of people can get confused with the true meanings and definitions of words. A lot of other forms of media have made the same misunderstandings in their work too. It's a miscommunication made by many people as it's never a popular topic and possibly mislead by varies of social dialect. For those who don't know, the "true" definition of shy, is to feel unconfotable around strangers and find it hard to talk to them. That is it. Fluttershy has never deminstraited this ever (apart from the first episode's "funny" joke with Twilight.) People confuse being too kind and polite, timid, scared and quiet with shyness.
  22. Hello everypony, I'm not sure if this topic has already been up before but I couldn't find it, so I made my own. So, yesterday I was thinking about economy and how the ponies hold up with money. Specifically, the mane 6. Applejack has a family that she has to take care of, so she obviously needs to earn money and we've seen in the show that money is what she often aims for when it comes to it. She wanted to sell at the Gala, she sells cider, she sells apples and pies in a stand in the middle of Ponyville.. She really tries to earn money now and again. This fixation is probably because she needs to take care of her farm and family to keep it all running. Pinkie Pie works at Sugarcube Corner, probably to earn money and buy her party accessories? And I cannot imagine that it's free to live in a house like they all do. They probably pay rent somehow, all of them. Rarity has her boutique, makes dresses for others and probably earns money that way. She has a sister as well, that she sometimes need to take care of. As well as keeping her budget up to buy fabric and other necessary things for her dress-making. Twilight is a Princess now but I'm not sure how she makes money... She was a student of Celestia before, so I'm still a bit confused about that. Has anyone else gotten any idea? Rainbow Dash literally doesn't do much at all. Perhaps she works for Clouds-dale somehow, but that sounds a bit weak of a theory to me. Fluttershy takes care of ponies pets, but I cannot imagine she would charge many ponies for anything like that. Otherwise she doesn't do much for a living either... Lend me your ideas and thoughts, I'd love to know what you think!
  23. When the Mane 6 got turned into sea ponies why is Rarity the only one with her cutie mark not only on her dorsal fin but also on her tail fin?
  24. Hey everypony, I hadn't made a topic in a while and I was just thinking. If each of the mane six played an instrument... what would their instrument be? It can be any instrument that exists and is considered an instrument. here are my thoughts. Apple Jack: Acoustic Guitar Fluttershy: Flute Rainbow Dash: Electric guitar. Rarity: Harp Pinkie: One man band (obviously) Twilight: Theremin Share your thoughts.
