I'll go first: I hated my LG G3 and my Samsung Galaxy S3 (which is my first phone btw ) since they're pretty glitchy and laggy which is sorta understandable since they're like 5+ years old. But my G3 is way worse; it keeps disconnecting from WiFi by itself several times, sometimes it won't load apps, and the battery depletes pretty fast. My S3 isn't with me anymore since I broke it in rage but I still got my LG G3...(un)fortunately. And I got my Amazon Fire 7 Tablet which I mostly hate it since its Silk browser being really different than Chrome (which kinda causes complications), it sometimes went pretty slow and little laggy when my tablet is connected to the Wifi, and the lack of specific apps I wanna look for (unfortunately, they have a different appstore which pretty meant not all apps are available :/ ) ; the only pros my Amazon tablet have is they're pretty useful for games and drawing apps. So yeah, my Amazon Fire 7 isn't really the best tablet to use for web surfing imo but it's pretty useful for drawing apps and games.

How do you feel as a brony when you hear familiar terms or phrases that can be taken out of context to be references to MLP on commercials, speeches, etc.? For instance, on UPS or FedEx commercials, being postal services, they usually talk about things such as "free shipping" that immediately gets my attention. I don't know, does anyone have any other experiences like this?

So, guilty pleasures. We all have them. Is there a movie with a plot that makes no sense, but the main character is absolutely dreamy? Really catchy song by an artist you usually hate? Book that you can't bring yourself to finish because it's THAT BAD, but there's a scene that's written so strikingly that you keep returning to it? Character you can't get enough of, even if in real life you'd most likely want to strangle them? Gimme all those things that you like, even if you can't justify even to yourself why!

General Media What is the best songs you ever listen to that you wanted MLP characters to cover?
posted a topic in Media Discussion
What is the best song you ever listened to that you wanted MLP FiM and EQG characters (especially minor/recurring characters and even The Mane Gang) to do a cover of? I'll go: Well, there's several and there's a lot to choose but I recently enjoy listening to The Who's song, Baba O'Riley and IT'S THE GREATEST AWESOME SONG I EVER LISTENED TO IN AGES. I did some air guitar while listening to it heh I can imagine a music video of where FiM and EQG characters would appear together and yes, even the MLP FiM and EQG characters from the past, present and future and literally every MLP characters and I can even imagine human Sunset Shimmer doing some guitar riff and pony Octavia Melody doing a violin solo. -
ERB (Epic Rap Battles) is a youtube channel that puts two figures from history (fictional or not) together, and those figures face off in a rap battle. The newest one they've done is Harry Houdini vs David Copperfield. , so I put up a poll about that one. So, I have to ask: Do you like ERB? Which one is YOUR favorite battle? Also, who won in that one? My favorite is either Steve Jobs V Bill Gates (Steve one that one), Frank Sinatra V Freddie Mercury (Freddie won that one!), or Artists vs Turtles (the Artists won for me!)

There are many games that I wish would never end but alas, they have ended and they've been over for a while now. I wracked my brain for the past hour for good games I miss playing. Here are a few of them: There are so many more games I miss. The ones above are the games I miss the most at this moment. What about you all?

This question is a pretty straightforward one, what's your favorite movie scene? And for what reasons? My all time favorite movie scene comes from the movie V for Vendetta, when the citizens rise up and overthrow the oppressive government. The scene is best summed up in this comment from the video, "The way I see it, it's a symbol for the power of the people. V doesn't even exist, he is the revolutionary ability inside all of us. What blew up Parliament was the masses at the gates, the bomb was just for show." Post your favorite movie scenes below, I'd love to see them!

I have a Twitter account and I use it primarily for breaking sports news, getting insight into an athlete's life that they're willing to share, and following Las Vegas hotels for special room rates and deals . I follow every well-known Detroit sports beat writer and radio personality along with the teams' official Twitter accounts as well for ticket deals or promotional things. I also follow national sports journalists who are among the best at their sport, like Bill Simmons for NBA, Jay Glazer/Adam Schefter/Chris Mortensen for NFL, Bob McKenzie for NHL, etc. I follow athletes from Detroit teams and University of Michigan teams who have an account also to see if they post their thoughts or if they reach out to the fans in some way. So do you have a Twitter account? What's your main purpose for using it? And who do you follow?

Is the fandom divided? Not something I can answer in a single post, something that needs a lot of discussion I think. I'll get the ball rolling with my overly depressing take on things. The R34, the terrible (yet praised) fan-fic the militant attitudes of some, and the downright creepiness of what I will call 'elite' bronies be it popular musicians/youtubers whatever the people who form a tight nit community within the brony community itself and then set there own rules. Just spend some time on YouTube and elsewhere eventually you'll see what I mean. I can deal with all that. What russles my jimmies however is the increasingly fractured state of the brony community. Forming into sub-groups based on drama and ultimately leading many to become simply more interested in being part of a 'counter-culture' than being a fan of what they are in the fandom for in the first place. Twilicorn, equestria girls. And the one that russled my jimmies was actually the brony documentary. 300,000 dollars to be part of and excuse my language here but there is no other way to express this: a massive circle jerk of the community in a completely biased and sycophant fashion, that has caused me to lose respect for everyone involved in production as well as some of the brony community. I have avoided all fan bases since Pokemon generation one when I was still a nieve kid myself. The utopia of the fandom has either been lost or it was never there in the first place. I sometimes wonder if having found the show in total isolation of the fandom would have been better. Perhaps there is hope. To me the finding of the show itself merely a year ago was a small light in a very dark world. Well now that I've cheered everyone up. I'll end this post

One of my biggest peeves in reviewing is giving something a calculated score, because it's very difficult if not impossible to reduce the quality to such a mark. Plus, whenever many people see a score, they tend to not read the review at all and rely on the score/grade itself as proof for purchase. Nonetheless, if I were to grade the following based on the following items below, they would be the followings below the first rule. The grades are respective and separated to the following categories: Season 1 Season 2 Season 3 Season 4 Season 5 Season 6 Season 7 Season 8 Season 9 MLP: The Movie & Specials Equestria Girls series, RR animated shorts, specials, and IDW comic/annual Main Comic Series* Micro-Series Friends Forever If you want to see my order of every FIM episode from best to worst (with grades), click here. I'm in the audio business and many have noticed that the latest generation of music 'consumers' don't seem to care about fidelity. Fidelity means 'faithful', and it is used in music reproduction to mean simply, 'a faithful representation of the recording'. I'm sure most are aware of the various digital formats, such as mp3, which compresses the music information for smaller file size and for lower streaming bandwidth. With technology such as compression, and bluetooth earbuds and streaming services like iTunes and the like, it seems that the living room stereo system with a CD player, or even analog sources like LP turn tables and the like, is going away (save the filthy rich). This trend seems to have desensitized the masses into accepting music that is only a fraction of it original content. That is, compressed music, along with relatively cheap and low power players (headphones) means that people are listening to music that has lost approximately 80% of its fidelity! Is there no more appreciation for listening to music that is carefully and faithfully represented as the artist intended? How many of you have ever listened to you music on a real, powerful, component stereo system? How would you describe your experience?

Unless you literally just sit in one position, thinking about nothing all day, we all have hobbies, and as we all know, our hobbies can evolve and change. What interests us as young adults most likely won't interest us when we reach our middle age, the same way that our interest differ from when we were children and now. With all of this said, sometimes we just move on from hobbies, whether it's on a positive or negative note. Unfortunately... we'll be talking about one of the more negative exits here. With all of this said... have you ever burned out on a hobby of yours? One day, you were enjoying the hell out of a hobby you were participating in, but the next thing you knew... you just weren't. If anything, you were starting to hate it. For me, I ended up being burned out on video games to the point where I barely play them anymore. Sure, I might be looking forward to the next Smash game on the Switch... but other than that, I really couldn't care less about gaming as a whole anymore. I don't know why, but not too long after I bought a Nintendo Switch, I just couldn't bring myself to play many of the games. No joke: of the 10 Switch games that I own, I only finished 4 of them. Even worse, of the aforementioned 10, I haven't even played 3 of them; I literally have not touched them yet (except for one, but it barely counts). So that means that I own 10 Switch games; Super Mario Odyssey, which I beat. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which I beat. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Which I beat. Skyrim, which I barely played. DOOM, which I played a little bit (great game, though; you should check it out). Sonic Forces, which I beat, but didn't like. Bayonetta 1 + 2, which I haven't touched yet. Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which I haven't touched yet. Scribblenauts Showdown, which I played for 10 minutes and nearly threw in the garbage. And Pokken Tournament, which I played a little bit. Oh, and do I need to mention the 50$ that I wasted on a Pro Controller? With my little rant out of the way, have you ever been involved in a hobby so much... and then, over the passage of time, just stopped caring? I'm honestly wondering if anyone else has gone through what I have at this point.

I was wondering how can I insert media from existing attachments or real from URL?

There's no question that we've made an enormous amount of social and scientific progress over the centuries, perhaps most of that progress being in the last half century or so. Even though the current political landscape and discourse can make us feel the contrary, things are definitely the best and most evolved that they've ever been in the history of our species. However, as I see it, there remains one major hurdle that desperately needs to be overcome in the near future: clearing up misconceptions about atheism, which is the purpose of this essay. Whether you are an atheist or not, we need to start having more honest conversations about the topic. We can still have disagreements, of course. People can disagree about the existence of a god(s), but do so in a civil way in which no one is portrayed as a villain. Here's the short of it: atheism is nothing more than a lack of a belief in a god, but an inordinate amount of people, still today, believe that atheism is some sort of immoral doctrine. This insanity has to stop. Let me explain this very plainly. Atheism is not a doctrine nor a dogma, it's not a belief "system", nor a choice. It simply means that one hasn't been convinced that a god exists. That's it. "I've seen the arguments for and the evidence against, I've read the books, and I'm simply not convinced that a god exists." Nothing more. And yet, it seems that there are still a lot of people who think that atheism is some sort of unethical, immoral, evil, dogmatic belief system, some sort of hedonistic chaos doctrine that says, "nothing matters, so let's all just have orgies willy nilly and kill each other." Nothing could be further from the truth. Atheists, by and large, belief that life matters a great deal. In fact, it is specifically because of the finality of death that we believe every moment is precious, but that's a larger tangent that I don't want to get into right now. The point is that atheism isn't a set of rules or some sort of satanic belief system. It just means one isn't convinced. If I handed you a copy of Harry Potter and said, "Now, do you believe that Lord Voldemort is real?", you would obviously say no. Even if the book itself said that every word was literally true, you probably still wouldn't be convinced. Not without evidence. What if I asked you if you believe in fairies? Unicorns? Dragons? You wouldn't be convinced of the existence of any of those without evidence. It's not outright impossible for any of those to exist, but we have no reason to believe they do. We've never seen a shred of evidence. So, you wouldn't be convinced. It's no different with respect to atheists and god(s). We're just not convinced. It's not a choice, and it's not an active rejection of any of the good teachings of god or the bible (of which there aren't many. :/ ) It's simply a position of looking at the bible and going, "Eh, I just don't see any evidence. I'm not convinced." Before continuing, I'd like to add that atheist are not dogmatic. We don't say that it's impossible for a god to exist, and absolutely nothing can change our minds. No, not at all. Quite the contrary. You show us some evidence, and our minds will be changed accordingly. If a god descends from the clouds and says, "Here I am," they by golly, I'll be a believer. I simply don't believe in things for no reason with no evidence. Not being convinced that a god exists is clearly an amoral belief--neither moral nor immoral. It has nothing to do with whether you're a good person or not, just as not being convinced that unicorns are real has nothing to do with morals. Arguably, not believing in a god often results in better morals because one must get their morals from themselves and other people, and modern people are far more moral, and far better arbiters of morality than an ancient book. Moreover, most religious people don't get the majority of their morality from their holy book. If they did, they'd be executing gays and stoning their children to death for back-talk. Religious people still get the vast majority of their morality from the other people in their culture, and that morality is a product of centuries of secular progress. For instance, figuring out that gay people are just people, and deserving of the same respect, rights, and compassion as everyone else, was the result of secular ideas and pressure. This realization didn't come from rereading and reinterpreting the bible. We have become more moral and more ethical throughout the ages because we are thinking beings with an innate ability to reason, to tell right from wrong, and improve our morality. Morality doesn't come from a god. It comes from us. But whether or not you believe in a god, it's time we stop thinking that atheism is inherently immoral. I chose the subtitle for this essay because there have been so many social hurdles that have been cleared, and are now commonplace and widely accepted, but atheism still has so far to go. In the not too distant past, the issue of the day was civil rights, racial equality and integration. Even though racism is still a problem, there is absolutely no comparison to how it was in the 1960's and prior. We've had a black president, interracial relationships are completely commonplace, and there's lots of black people in the entertainment industry, and in media, and has been for many years. Even though it's not perfect, I'd say we're basically past that hurdle. In my generation, the big issue has been homosexuality. I'd say we are by and large past that hurdle as well. We got gay marriage, and there's a quite a lot of gay representation in entertainment. I mean, you've got sitcoms like Will & Grace, you've got gay characters on shows and in movies, you've got entire LGBT networks, and hell, just the other day I say a jewelry commercial--y'know, one of these "a diamond is forever" things--that featured a lesbian couple. Sure, there's still lots of gay hatred and intolerance, but homosexuality is brazenly out there in the media, and most people seem cool with it. Most shows/movies/networks don't seem afraid to have a gay character. Most filmmakers or tv show producers, or game developers for that matter, don't seem to be scared that if they include a gay character, they'll lose their audience. It's not an issue. But atheism hasn't made much headway, here. Atheism is still kept in the shadows, and having an openly atheist character is taboo. The only openly atheist characters on tv are edgy cartoon characters like Brian Griffin and Rick Sanchez. The makers of these shows get away with it, in part because of their target audience, but also, I believe, because people have an easier time stomaching this position from a cartoon character who isn't real. I suspect that if live action sitcom characters were openly atheist, people would have a completely different and objectionable reaction. I suspect they'd become soured, start hating the show and the character, and possibly even conflate the character with the actor, thinking that they are immoral and such. Cartoon characters don't seem to have this problem as they are so much further removed from the real world. Personally, I think it's tragic that the Big Bang Theory guys are not openly atheist. Of all people, they absolutely should be, and yet with some of them, they just don't mention it, and with others, they are "culturally" religious--they identify as a particular religion, but don't seem to really practice it. I have no doubt that the writers felt that openly atheist characters would drive the audience away. This is absolutely shameful. It is time that we have atheists represented in entertainment at the same level as gays. One of the only openly atheist characters in television history was Mike from All in the Family, a show that was far ahead of its time. Atheism needs to be commonplace in the media. The misconceptions about it will probably never stop until people start seeing atheists in the media and realizing that they're just people, not a cult of vampires or something. We need to start talking honestly about atheism. We need to stop tiptoeing around the word, saying it hushed tones, and being afraid to admit that we're not convinced that a god exists. Regardless of one's beliefs about a god, it needs to be understood that atheism absolutely is not something unnatural, sinister, or immoral. You may have noticed that I always used the phrase "a god", not just, "god", like a name. I do this intentionally to raise awareness that the Abrahamic god is not unique, special, or different from the thousands of other gods that have been created throughout history, thousands of which are still worshipped today. The god of the bible is just one god--one among many. Every believer is an atheist with respect to every other god that's ever been worshipped. We non-believers just take it one god further.

Which are/is the shows that were cancelled and you wanted to cry when you found out? Personally I hate the fact that I'll never get to know how Spider-Man Unlimited ends because it got cancelled and last episode of season 1 never aired, so it eneded in the worst way possible, with a season that never ended. Also, Terra Nova, I wish the show could be continued but may be I'm asking for too much.
