  1. I would pick Rarity, because she can use her emotions well as an actress. Other than her, Fluttershy would use her aggression, while Twilight may also be good at acting. Which one of the Mane Six do you think is the best actress for a villain character?
  2. Hi fellow bronies another question for ya How you think Twilight would react if she met a foal with the same habits as her but much much smarter and better at organisation than her??
  3. Hub Welcome to the Twilight Sparkle Fan club! Twilight Sparkle is the faithful student of Princess Celestia who is tasked in studing the magic of friendship. She holds magical powers unknown to even Celestia and she can use these powers, along with the Elements of Harmony to stop anypony who would harm her friends. She perfers keeping to herself and her books. She is the element of Magic. Kyronea's thoughts on Twilight Warning: long thought-fueled post ahead. Rules of this thread -No spamming post to become biggest fans -This is a children’s show, and believe it or not there are younger people who go on these forums, please limit content to suggestive only. 4. So, here's a question: Which of the two do you like better, princess twilight sparkle, or the version of Twilight in equestria girls? The two have notably different personalities and group dynamics (Most probably to make room for Sunset in the group while she doesn't exist in FIM), so they're functionally very different characters. So, which twilight is your favorite and why?
  5. 1. Magical Mystery Cure: My first major event as a member of the Friendship is Magic fandom where my favorite character achieved the highest honor in her land. 2. Amending Fences: This gets better and better the more I watch it! The emotional moments are great & the the use of past events is a clever way to build the story. 3. It's About Time: An episode about a situation we all find ourselves in at one point in our lives. A great lesson with a funny set-up. 4. A Canterlot Wedding Parts 1&2: TWILIGHT SPARKLE DIDN'T (Need to) LEARN ANYTHING! SHE WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG! 5. Twilight's Kingdom: *Charlton Heston voice* YOU BLEW IT UP! 6. Gauntlet of Fire/Friendship University: Hey, "RariTwi" her name is part of it. 7. MMMystery on the Friendship Express: Twilight Sparkle is Best Watson & her detective hat is adorkable. 8. Sparkle's Seven: Twilight Sparkle wants to get a crown she could easily make herself. Hilarity ensues. 9. Winter Wrap Up: Everyone matters. At least that's what I got from it. 10. Lesson Zero: This is the episode when Twilight Sparkle became my favorite pony. It also used to be my favorite but I got tired of the Cutie Mark Crusaders scene making me cringe. Honorable Mention (For a moment, not the special itself.): Equestria Girls: Spring Breakdown: Princess Twilight Sparkle and Human Twilight Sparkle *finally* interacted.
  6. HUB Welcome everypony to MLP Forum's own Mane Six fan club! Source I'm aware that all of the Mane Six ponies have their own individual clubs, but this is the place for fans of all of the ponies as a group to hang out! Everyone is welcome to join in on posting Mane Six artwork, fan videos, music, comics, avatars, banners, and any other creative media that you wish to share. It can be your own work, or just something you found on the internet. There will also be occasional discussions pertaining to the Mane Six, as well as polls from time to time. These are completely optional, so feel free to discuss whatever you'd like to, as long as it's relevant to the club. - No, you don't have to love every one of the Mane Six ponies to join the club, but I do hope you at least like all of them to some extent. This is for positive discussions, so no hatred for any members of the group please. This is simply a place to come in and appreciate the main cast. - No fighting over who is best pony. Be respectful. Yes, we all have a personal favorite, and you can talk about your favorite all you want, but no arguing over which character is better please. If anyone has any questions, comments, concerns, suggestions, or ideas, please speak up. I would really like for this club to be successful, so I am all ears. Let's get the ball rolling with a pic:
  7. What's with this ""MANE 6" thing? I only know 5 charaacters: 1. Rarity 2. Applejack 3. Pinkie Pie 4.Twilight Sparkle 5. Rainbow Dash ------------------------------------------------------------ So who am I missing here?
  8. I have said once and I will say again when it comes to any of the mane 6 being in relationships in the show I am neutral, if it happens great so long as it is done right if not than there are plenty of fanfics that have it anway. But there is one argument against that that has been bugging me. It is the argument that doing so would somehow be out of character for most of the mane 6 which is of course an opinion but I am yet to really see anything other than 1 dimensional stereotypes about the characters to back it up. It is out character for Twilight Sparkle because "she is too much of a nerdy bookworm", it is out of character for Rainbow Dash because "she is too much of a brash rough and tumble tomboy", out of character for Applejack because "she is too much of a workaholic". It is true that they don't seek out relationships like Rarity has been shown to do, but the idea that it is out of character for them for those reasons is a little farfetched when you consider that character with similar personality traits have had relationships that have been pulled off well in other shows as well as real life. What I like about this show and the ponies is that they have shattered stereotypes and really made these characters come to life. Twilight was and still is a nerdy bookworm and there is of course nothing wrong with that but she was very anti social in season 1 but though was still more introverted became more open to social situations. Rainbow Dash was and still is a rough and tumble tomboy and does often have trouble showing her emotions but does have a softer side to her that we have seen some subtle hints of throughout the series and we really saw big time in Sleepless In Ponyville. Applejack often overdoes things and has pushed herself too hard but has shown signs of improvement as the series has gone on as she has become less reluctant to ask for help.
  9. If our protagonist Twilight Sparkle was married to the cool and spicy Flash Sentry, what would your initial reaction be, and why would you like/dislike it?
  10. Already got used to her alicorn version, but her Unicorn version was good as she was. How about you?
  11. It's 5 years since Twilight became an alicorn. The time Twilight being an Alicorn in the show is longer than when she wasn't. It might be way too late to bring it up again and analyze, but this might be a good time to do it because no rabid fan who would dumb things down would still be around by now. I also don't like the 'haters gonna hate' or 'they are stupid, they would hate anything' kind of attitude. It might be good for our mental health, it would be easy for someone to think that way, but it won't actually explain anything and won't get us anywhere. I don't like the stwaman argument. And of course I am aware of lots of people hates or likes something for stupid reasons. I just want to analyze stuff. I believe any open discussion would bring us to a better state. The most obvious reason why people hated Alicorn Twilight I think is because it was a decision made based on marketing, not by prioritizing the storytelling. Hasbro toy department had a pressure to make a pink princess toy (we all know the infamous pink Celestia and how Luna was treated because she was too dark for kids) and for them, the fact that the princesses didn't appeared that much on the show, and the main protagonist was not a princess was a problem requiring an improvement. To delve into it deeper, it's also about the female princess fantasy. There is nothing wrong about it, it has been working well long enough among human history and it still will be, but the show was about 'there are lots of ways to be a girl'. And lots of the adult fan base was into the show because the show had good story, surpassing expectations by being more than a cliched girly cartoon. Fulfilling the princess fantasy was exactly like being a cliched girly cartoon for them. And also, prioritizing anything but story would definitely turn them off. We can also see, even how good the season 3 finale was, how rushed it is. Equestrai Girls didn't help it either. It showed how the studio could be a total disaster and incapable of writing a good story and putting wings made the whole matter look worse. The reason behind Equestria Girl's premise was also marketing and to fulfill the female magical girl transformation fantasy. Again, there is nothing wrong about it, but making a good story should come first, and checking if it fits is also required. The other aspect of the argument is 'Twilight was a good character because of being a smart pony who is good at using knowledge and wits to solve problems'. And 'being a princess can obscure the nature of her'. Thankfully it turned out that season 4~7 were very well made seasons, but actually the show being good had less something to do with Twilight being an Alicorn princess. If she wasn't an Alicorn princess, it would still be great. It's more like the show being good 'despite of' her being an Alicorn princess. "The show is expanding" : Well, the show is being a more big scaled story, but I don't think it fits the show being that way. The show is most efficient at itty-bitty everyday Ponyville stuff. We got to see Dragonball Z stuff at season 4 finale, but it was too much of a fan service. (btw that's also fulfilling the male badass fantasy.) Now it got too big, it can't shrink down anymore. That's a risk of any stories expanding. Season 7 finale got so ridiculous, reviving all the legend pillars of Equestria like Naruto and making up a cliched villain to fight an epic battle, all 14 ponies gathering around for the fate of Equestria. Of course back then they wouldn't have known anything about these, but their concern kind of came true on some points. And it's true that we got more of the princess side of Twilight (as a device for expanding the surrounding) instead of the side of Twilight we knew and fell in love with in the first place (as a character itself). It wasn't 100% bullshit what some of them said. In season 1~2, if someone asked who that purple pony is, that would be answered by like "She is the main character in the show, likes books, good at magic." After season 3, the same question would be answered by something like "She is one of the four Alicorn princesses, who protects the nation." Making the protagonist famous and the special one and a celebrity is a big risk at storytelling. You can never go back, and later on, you might not know what to do with all of that. "She is still the same pony" : Well, it is and it isn't. Of course someone could say she is the same pony just sprouted wings and got promoted, but everything about someone represents a certain character. Being purple, being a bookworm, being a female, having straight long hair, living in a library, sometimes freaking out, everything. Pinkie Pie won't be 'Pinkie Pie' if she wasn't pink, and it's not just about her name, but also about her nature and what she represents. Twilight is changed. And it is something more than just wings and being a princess. It changes her character design, it changes her status, it changes her mindset, it changes what she has to face, and most importantly, it changes the premise of the show. People get concerned when they see something familiar turns different. The reason for watching MLP might be something about seeing the familiar, unlike the unsettling reality, and get relaxed, seeing the peaceful (or being cute-dangerous) environment of Ponyville. I just think if they could be a little more open minded, and see how the show goes, it could have been easier for them to swallow it. What are your thoughts about it? Let me know what you think.
  12. Will Twilight Sparkle grow bigger over time as an immortal alicorn?
  13. I have a Twilight Sparkle 3D model, but the latest versions of Blender are ruining it. I downloaded the model from CreatorOfPony's DeviantArt page.
  14. Since Twilight hasn't visited Richville, she decided to get some information from a newest Wonderbolt member from the town: Blue Wings.
  15. When did Twilight freaking out (so called "Twilighting" by the show itself) became a thing? And why do we see her like it so often? Not in a context of her freaking out as a story, but her freaking out for the sake of freaking out. Is it because Lesson Zero got so much praise? I don't get it. If it's so, Lesson Zero's Twilight freaking out actually drove the story forward and brought the character the place where she wouldn't ever go otherwise. The Twilight's freak out I'm pointing out, that doesn't affect the story. Other ponies just calm her down and she moves on. Is it because the writers want to give her characteristics and flaws? If so, it's not so subtle especially when the show has to push it and meme it in a contrived manner. Is it the new cornerstone to establish the character? I think there are many better ways to show Twilight's character. Is it because It's About Time? Even if we saw her freaking out many times before, most of it was to drive the story forward or accentuate the theme (The Ticket Master), or it was genuinely an incident that anyone could freak out (Swarm of the Century). The point is, I don't want characteristics thrown in without considerations of the context. I used to think Twilight was more stable than most ponies and could function great under pressure and facing stressful situations. She often seemed more distant from the problem than most ponies would and could focus more on books and nerdy stuff she's interested (Look Before You Sleep). Twilighting might seem to make her "Relatable" by giving her obvious flaws, but it used to work for complimenting the story and the theme. I guess The Crystal Empire started this, but it's going on for too long. I don't see the point of constantly making Twilight hyperventilate whenever some big responsibilities occurs. It doesn't get anywhere and makes her look incompetent. Most of all, I got bored by it. They should make new interesting ways to show it or slowly get rid of it as she grows as an authority and gains competence. She felt more like an authority when she was guiding ponies in Ponyville in season 1-3 than now. Because she handled thing like a boss. Old habits die hard, it's what real peoples are like. But more important than any of that, is that MLP is a show. Remember Fluttershy being shy? They showed it over and over but it didn't bother me because they showed various ways of showing it and they utilized it as for making stories. If Twilighting is all of what she's got, it's also a bad news. I think Twilight is much more than that and freaking out isn't her defining characteristics. A character should reveal themselves through the story, not as a duty protocol. They should have seen Twilighting and the fact that it's being accumulated enough to become a meme as a problem and tried to fix it, by making variations of it or changing the context of how it's used, instead of self referencing it. What do you think? Do you it fits the character of Twilight? Do you think it fits the story and the theme? Do you think it should stay the way it is or change?
  16. That seems to be the most important thing to me about the final. Will Twilight Sparkle get even bigger? Will she outshine Princess Celestia in size one day? And would Princess Celestia get mad and magically make herself bigger out of spite if that happens?
  17. Okay so I have said quite a few times on here that I am not a fan of twilicorn but despite my misgivings I am trying to at least look on the bright side and can think of a few ways this might still work. Before I begin though I have noticed that several critics of twilicorn have said that this could work if it is temporary but I do not agree with this. Sure the way twilicorn was introduced may have been pitifully lazy writing but to simply grant alicorn status out of nowhere and then take it away as quickly as it was given would also be lazy writing and lazy writing cannot be solved with more lazy writing. 1. Twilight as princess of friendship: this will probably happen regardless of whether or not this actually works out so it is highly unlikely that Twilight will leave her friends. Think about it, she is the element of magic which is a combination of all the other 5 elements of harmony and the title of the show is "Friendship is Magic". Expecting the princess of friendship to leave her friends would be like expecting Cadence as the princess of love to not be with Shining Armor. Twilight if anything will need her friends more than ever as she gets used to her new responsibilities as a princess, Rainbow Dash could teach her about flying as some have pointed out for example. Rarity could teach her about some of the finer points of high society etiquette though I am sure Twilight is well versed on it being Celestia's apprentice a little sprucing up though never hurt anypony. Applejack could help her sort through all the BS, suck ups and flank kissers trying to get in good with the new princes that will inevitably come her way. Pinkie Pie could help cheer her up when she is feeling down or discouraged and maybe make it a little less likely to have Lesson Zero moment. 2. A rational explanation as to why the coronation was so abrupt: there are many different potential scenarios I have come up with in my head and most of them involve some kind of emergency. We all know that alicorns get a massive power boost so perhaps whatever threat is lurking required Twilight to take this power boost a bit sooner than Celestia had originally planned. It could be a new villain or the return of an old villain it could even link to why Celestia wanted to reform Discord. There is nothing that will completely get rid of the abrupt nature of this change but it can be smoothed over slightly with some good writing. 3. Twilight's power grows slowly over time: my biggest concern with twilicorn was that Twilight would become too powerful too fast making her a Mary Sue. But having great power dosen't mean you have complete control over it, during this one flashback scene where it showed how Twilight got her cutie mark she had a massive magic surge which not only caused Spike to hatch from his egg but to temporarily grow into a fully grown dragon. Thanks to her years of training and study she has much greater control over her powers then she did back then but turning into an alicorn is far more significant than simply slapping a pair of wings on Twilight. We don't know how big of a power boost that Twilight got but we know that is probably fairly substantial. We saw from Magic Duel that while Twilight was far more powerful than your average unicorn still had her limitations and as a alicorn if this is done correctly will still have some limitations. Simply put if Twilight is able to perform the kind of spells Trixie did under the influence of the alicorn amulet right off the bat than I am going to be seriously pissed. If written correctly Twilight could learn to master those kinds of spells and other high level unicorn and alicorn spells gradually over the course of a few more seasons.
  18. Yesterdays thread: http://mlpforums.com...-drew-a-rarity/ Anyway, as per request of Electrobolt, I drew Twilight Sparkle. I tried to take a closer up picture...meh. I absolutely DETEST the coloring on this. I never should have colored her in the first place, I don't have the right colors. Anyway, please point out the flaws, besides her left back leg... Also, tomorrow I will draw Vinyl Scratch for DJ Clock Work. Hopefully it will be better then this monster...
  19. I don't know why I have been thinking of this but.. here we go! Rainbow Dash: 5'2 Pinkie Pie: 5'3 Twilight Sparkle: 5'5 Rarity: 5'6 Fluttershy: 5'9 Applejack: 5'10 Rainbow and Pinkie being short... Twilight and Rarity being average... Fluttershy and Applejack being tall. This is just how I kind of see them based on their personalities and even how they are drawn.. Thoughts?
  20. So, I've been thinking... If there is a humanized version of everypony in Equestria in this High School place, wouldn't there already be a humanized version of Twilight there? Would Twilight have to meet her human-dimension self in the movie? Or did her soul replace the already-human Twilight's soul? Or was there just not one for some reason? What do you think?
  21. You’re invited for a sleepover with Sci-Twi and the human Mane 5. As a prank Sci-Twi gets you into a deep sleep, then dresses you in her uniform, down to knickers, vest, and socks. Experiencing a weird feeling, you wake up the next day and discover the prank. Reaction?
  22. OK, so now for a very important topic. I think it's good that we're able to discuss critical issues like this here. What side is Twilight Sparkle's pink streak on? It usually appears to be on her left (our right), but occasionally randomly shows up on her right (our left). For example, here's Twilight in Rarity's shop in Ticket Master, and her mane is on her right. Moments, later it's back to its usual spot. OK, maybe that can be explained by the fact that she was in the process of shaking off her wet mane. But later on in the episode, we see her answering the door to Applejack with it on the right, and once she's out of the door being offered various apple treats, it's moved back to the other side! So maybe, the animators just put the streak on whatever side is closest to the "camera"? No, that's not it either! It quite often appears behind her horn. Also, just for fun, here's a picture of Twilight rocking the denched-as-a-rat look.
  23. Note: Over the course of Season 8, content originally leaked (e.g., the Student Six's names, episode titles, summaries) have been officially revealed. But as always, please keep all leaked content not officially revealed yet — and/or if you're unsure if you're revealing too much — under the "spoiler" tag. (Hit the eye icon to trigger it and type within it.) Secondly, this episode was released early in Finland. Unlike the leaks back in December, this release is official. If you watched it, feel free to post here. (Whether you can post comments here without a spoiler tag or not, I don't know.) Title: Marks for Effort Air Date (U.S./Disc. Family): June 2 at 11:30am Writer: Nicole Dubuc Summary: "The Cutie Mark Crusaders try to convince Twilight Sparkle to let them into the School of Friendship, even though it's clear they've already mastered the curriculum." Extra Note: After Finland aired the episode, a brony successfully translated the script to English, found here. I went ahead and fused the fan translations into the episode; you can find the videos below. Be warned: MAJOR Spike-centric spoilers to "Molt Down"! Watch AND read at your own risk!
