  1. Assuming Celestia and Luna do retire after the Season 9 premiere, who is going to raise the sun and moon in their absence?
  2. Greetings everypony My name is Regal Charmer the First and i have a something i want to talk about since i've join to Brony fandom two years ago, The fact that Twilight Sparkle and Cadence will not outlive their friends and family somepony will, What do i mean, well ascended alicorns (In my eyes) don't have the same crazy amounts of magic like Celestia and Luna and Flurry Heart enough to move at least the moon and at most the sun, and they don't have the 'extended lifespan' like Celestia and Luna, let's face it we was so surprised how powerful Flurry's magic was in the beginning of season 6 and how advanced it has become in season 7, the point is natural born alicorns like Celestia and Luna are so strong they can move at least the moon and/or shatter the Crystal Heart and are immortal, while ascended alicorns like Twilight and Cadence don't have immortality and the 'move the sun and the moon' magic, so that means, if you haven't figured it out then i'll simplify, Twilight will not outlive her friends nor will her friends become alicorns, and Cadence will not outlive Shining Armor, But Flurry Heart will. please leave your thoughts down below.
  3. I'm writing a story about a pony's ascension to alicorn status, but I'd like to do it in a compelling way that's not going to annoy the reader/viewer. So far, he's in a Gary Stu situation. Destined to be the first (and currently only) alicorn prince, son of Starlight and Sunburst, well-acquainted with several main characters, and is the apprentice of Luna (who has had to come out of retirement to teach him.) He is not going to rule over Equestria, but he will instead fill Luna's role of helping ponies deal with their nightmares. Perhaps he'll have to deal with a larger threat, or he could become an alicorn simply by learning how to do his task well. I'm not sure which route will be received the best! I was thinking on writing him as someone with depression. Maybe he doesn't want to accept his destiny as the guardian of dreams, and would instead prefer to do something else, like bake cookies or do standup comedy. Maybe he's a chronic procrastinator, or the type of character who compulsively makes everything into a joke to cope with stress. Luna is very serious about her work, and it would cause conflict if her apprentice wasn't interested in or motivated to do the tasks she deems sacred. And, as the only pony who has ever guarded dreams, I'm sure she sees herself as the absolute expert. Alternatively, he could be overly enthusiastic about his new position, and screw things up by making all nightmares into silly, funny dreams instead of dealing with the root of the problem. Maybe he has some sort of nightmare fear of his own that he can't get rid of, and he over exerts himself trying to help others to avoid his own shadow. Once again, not sure which direction is best. Kinda leaning towards him being a bit rebellious, too. His mother and father (and Twilight and "Aunt" Trixie) are all very much intelligent overachievers with important jobs. Maybe they hold our protagonist to strictly high standards, and his dream guardian destiny is only compounding upon his stress. He has big horseshoes to fill, and perhaps he feels intimidated and/or constricted by it all. What tips, critiques, and general feedback do you all have? I really want to sharpen this story and have a well-developed protagonist!
  4. Ok, so I know this isn't a story but i need help. I am currently working on my OC's backstory and i'm kinda stuck. So, i need another pony to write about and what i could add to help me get in the writing mind set. I have a set of ponies and a brief summary: Capricorn: Male, Unicorn: He was Starswirl's partner and was the first Changeling king. He was erased from history when he was bitten by a Changeling maggot in case the ponies would begin to fear Starswirl as well, Starswirl was ordered by King Anubis to destroy any trace of Capricorn's connection to the Royals or Starswirl. King Darus: Male, Alicorn: He was the Alicorn of Justice and the brother of Cosmos (Celestia and Lunas' father). He married Princess Nyah (The Alicorn of Nature and the cousin of Galaxia) and had a son named Otis. He was the king of Sendaria and was loved by his people yet he faced a constant struggle against the threat of war from the close West, past Orberia, by a land of dragons named Gnar (na-rr). Queen Allegra: Female, Pegasus: She was the mother of Cadence and wife of Eros (prince of Cloudsdale). She felt like an outsider as she was a Pegasus living in a world of Alicorns. King Cosmos created the Alicorn Amulets so that non-Alicorn rulers ruling beside Alicorns would be able to be on the same level. The Amulet gave Allegra magical abilities without having to possess a horn and increased strength. King Garin II and Queen Gillian: Male and Female, Griffins: They were the last monarchs of Griffonstone. They fled their kingdom after the Idol of Boreas was lost when Garin was fighting the Arimaspi. They had no children and their relatives where all murdered or they escaped. They ended up in Horseshoe Bay, then they travelled past Apple Loosa (Which used to be a kingdom named Appalia) and they finally laid to rest in Saddle Arabia. They lived there for the rest of their life. What can i do to make this more interesting and have more depth? P.S: I have the whole timeline of most species and their kingdoms and rulers from before Equestria was created, so if you want to know then i can tell you. Thanks!
  5. Daring Do discovers the lost land of the Alicorns(my rendition of it at least) Daring came across an Ancient Civilization that once thrived with Alicorns however something must have happened to wipe them out from this time in history. As she ventured deep within the ruins she came across an old temple, going inside her heart ached seeing it engulfed by decay and rot,but it was also exhilirating, thats what she lives for.As she ventured deeper she reached a heavy old door, trying to push it open she struggled to move it at first, but eventually it succumbed to her strenghth and the door flew wide open, landing with a thud, Daring scrambled up brushing the dirt off her with her wings,as she scanned the room, she noticed its in a surprisingly good state, there was an old book case with some scrolls still intact on its shelves.Picking one up at random she unraveled it and started reading... as she read the first scroll she frowned,at first glance it seemed like a poem, but as she progressed it looked more like a prophecy we are immortal,or so we think but our race faces certain doom a wizard with great promise we'll make king and crown him in this very room but for his arrogance we will all sink to endless time's depths in a loop and he'll imprison us and horrors bring for his intentions differ from what they look this fate shivers up my mane for its much worse than timely death we'll suffer in this cycle anew again and never draw our final breath so hear me now and listen well for we must put trust in two foals sent them away far from this hell and hope they don't forget their goals one will be born under sun's sign and will inherit all its power the other is her sister and don't sigh for the moon she will raise and lower their quest will be to find the six spoked star and raise it delicately with care for she's the one to heal time's own scar doing so freeing every colt and mare to know her look for the birth of a dragon under a rainbow blazing in the sky a unicorn she'll be and i can not fathom how she'll achieve it so i won't even try the star that gleams is her adversary but she will teach her in time's ways in finding friends she needs some comentary and a student thus she gains but on her own she'll never find us so she must find the sacred tree to gain the map to where he binds us and come to finaly set us free "Lighttsong the Royal Seer" many thanks to @RaphLuna for the original prologue that inpired this all and to @ChB since his Zacora Cider competition made me discover i could actually rhyme
  6. even with the expanded map there is very little information about the original alicorns lands so i thought it would be an awesome Daring Do adventure to find their lost city I find it very intresting that Twilight's cutie mark apears to exist even before she does,on the tree of harmony so i thought it would make an awesome symbol of powerfull magic for the alicorn temples i just got into this series/fandom so if there's official information about this stuff and i have it different don't read too much into it p.s. I only made the picture i don't have a story or anything you are free to use the image in any way (non-profit)
  7. Who do you guys think they are?Judging by the fact that they have the exact same model as Princess Celestia, my theory is that Princess Celestia is split into two seperate ponies (Princess Gold Lily and Princess Sterling).
  8. I feel like they should a episode about Shining Armor being jealous of Twilight Sparkle and Princess Cadance and Flurry Heart because of them being Alicorns while he's not one.
  9. So, my knowledge of alicorns and how they are born were pretty much clear until Flurry Heart is born. Once that little foal was born, everything I thought I knew became irrelevant. All because of a quote by Celestia: "This is the first time Equestria has witnessed the birth of an Alicorn." This seemingly insignificant and innocent quote just told us that Celestia and Luna, as well as Cadence, were not born as alicorns, but they were transformed. This to me makes no sense, and could just be poor editing, but it makes me wonder: How do pony genes work? So, in season 2, when Shining Armor is marrying Cadence, we see a flashback of Cadence where she seems to be an adolescent, but she is still portrayed as an alicorn. And going off of what happened with Twilight, a pony becomes an alicorn once he/she does some kind of deed or action that reflects their true purpose and makes them a princess (i.e. Twilight solves Starswirl the Bearded's spell). And Cadence, who is the Princess of Love, must have done some kind of deed that brought out love in others. I doubt that a pony of her age could have done such a task, which leads me to believe that she was born an alicorn, but she was obviously not, according to Celestia. Once again, MIND FUCK. SO, this also means that Celestia and Luna were born as a normal unicorn/pegasus and performed some kind of important deed to gain their wings, horn. It was much easier to think that alicorns are a royal race that have special powers, and that they were born when two alicorns had a baby. Pony genes are like season 3 of "The Flash;" just one big mind fuck. What are your guys' thought? What do you make of this? Do you have any explanations or can explain it better than I can? Thanks, Jayson
  10. As the title says, why is Twilight smaller than the other alicorns (Celestia, Luna)? Will she eventually be as big as Celestia?
  11. Hi, I was thinking a bit about Alicorns and I have a few questions. "The Crystalling" confirmed that no Alicorn was born in Equestria before, so that means Celestia and Luna are either not born Alicorns or they're not from Equestria. So how did they become Alicorns and/or where are they from? They didn't rule the land before it was Equestria when Clover the Clever was around (which I think was about three millennia ago) so were they in another land or were they just not born yet? Who are their parents? Why do Celestia and Luna have wavy hair but Cadence, Twilight and Flurry Heart don't? Also, why do Celestia, Luna and Cadence have square faces and are much taller and thinner than most ponies, however, Twilight has the same build and Flurry Heart is just like a regular baby but with huge wings? I noticed that Twilight's wings are bigger than Rainbow Dash's so do all Alicorns have bigger wings than pegasi? Can Alicorns walk on clouds like the Pegasi do? When all the Pegasi were making a tornado in "Hurricane Fluttershy", did the Alicorns join in too? What about baby Pegasi who could fly like Pound Cake? Did Scootaloo join? Can Alicorns get the feather flu? Who was the Alicorn princess who drank the "love poison"?
  12. I have a few questions. Why do most ponies have round faces and some have square faces? Some say that the mares have round faces and the stallions have square faces but is that true? I mean Zecora is a female with a square face and so are Celestia, Luna and Cadence but not Twilight or Flurry Heart. Also, some colts have round faces. Are colts born with round faces and they go square when they grow up? Why are Flurry Heart's wings bigger than her body and is it because she's an Alicorn? Speaking of wings, why are Bulk Biceps's wings smaller than the rest of his otherwise large body? (Like they're the same size as a foal's wings) Why are Celestia, Luna and Cadence much taller and thinner than most other ponies? Why are Big Mac, Shining Armour and the Cake parents taller and chubbier than most other ponies? Why do adult pegasi fold their wings to their bodies but I've never seen a pegasus foal do that?
  13. I honestly hope there's never a male Alicorn in the show because there is already enough Alicorns in the show and the idea of a male Alicorn just doesn't sound like a good idea to me.
  14. as the topic says, will we ever get any lore about alicorns? Or Lore about stuff like the EOH, Starswirl the bearded, and other important things from the show in general? it seems like the show will never touch on these things, with them distancing themselves more and more from things that were big in early seasons. It seems like they were planning on exploring such things in the movie but backed out of it, so do you think they'll ever fully flesh out the backstory for the alicorn race in the show?
  15. Back when the Brony fandom was young and we were all gushing over how surprisingly good Season 1 was, many of us (mostly fanfic writers and speculators and such) conceived of the idea that Celestia and Luna were like the Egyptian, Roman, Greek, and Norse gods. This made sense, as they were bigger than all the other ponies, the only winged unicorns in the show, and could raise and lower the sun and moon. It was a logical conclusion to make, as many myths and legends feature sun and/or moon gods. Going further, many would assume that Celestia and Luna, or perhaps their parents, were the creators of the world/universe/planet Equestria is located on/in. At some point, the fan theory that Lauren Faust, or rather, Lauren Faust’ Alicorn OC “Fausticorn,” was Celestia and Luna’s mother and the creator of the world was made. However, as time went on, more seasons came out, more alicorns were introduced, lore regarding the founding of Equestria and the movement of the sun and moon by unicorns was revealed, and Celestia and Luna (and even Discord as of the Season 6 Finale) were revealed to be quite weak, the theory of Celestia and Luna being divine beings is pretty much debunked. Many Bronies still stick with the Fausticorn theory, but I think it would be better to find something a lot more cannon to look to. If were to make a bet on who or what is the true creator and Divine Being of the world of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, the only choice there is, of course, the Tree of Harmony. Why? Well, here’s my reasoning: If The Tree of Harmony is the Divine Being, it would have to have existed since the beginning of time. In Princess Twilight Sparkle, we see that the Tree existed during Discord’s first reign. You might think this breaks the theory, seeing as the Fires of Friendship of Hearthswarming Eve predate this. First of all, the Fires are a one trick pony. All they do is kill Wendigoes and keep you warm. Powerful magic, sure, but not divine. Second, in the past vision where Celestia and Luna take the Elements out of the Tree, you will find that the tree is the exact same size as it is 1000 years later in the present. This means that the Tree was already mature 1000 years ago, and also ages very slowly. Plus, from seed to sapling to fully mature, trees take a looooooong time to grow. Not only that, the Tree of Harmony is huge. If a Redwood tree can live for 2000 years, I’m sure a magical crystal tree can live many times longer. I punch the numbers into my calculator and I get “In the Beginning was the Seed.” Next, the Tree needs to be omnipotent. To find that out, let’s check out all the time aspects of the Tree had to show their strength. First, the Elements of Harmony. Now, let’s get something clear: if the Elements were not used correctly and the results were either lacking or non-existent, it is not the Tree’s fault. A good comparison would be Samson in Judaism/Christianity. Samson’s superhuman strength came from God, but God told Samson not to let his hair be cut (among other things). So, when Delilah cut Samson’s hair, Samson was defeated. God was still omnipotent, Samson just forfeited his rights to that power. So, first the Elements defeated Discord. Then Celestia used them all by herself against Nightmare Moon, so she was imprisoned instead of purified. Nightmare Moon was unable to destroy the Elements, and the Mane Six used them properly and purified her. Celestia and Luna lost their connection to the Elements, so the Tree removed its power from Discord’s stone prison. The Mane Six tried using the Elements while they were corrupted, and without Rainbow Dash, so the Tree denied them its power. They used them properly the second time and defeated Discord. Then we have the Plunderseed Vines in Princess Twilight Sparkle. I’m going to skip over this and save it for later. Don’t worry, it’ll all make sense a little later. Then we have the Rainbow Power, which was able to defeat Lord Tirek instantly. Tirek had ALL THE MAGIC IN EQUESTRIA. This means that the Rainbow Power is stronger than ALL THE MAGIC IN EQUESTRIA. Then there’s the Cutie Map, which was able to survive SEVERAL COMPLETE REWRITES AND HARD RESETS OF THE TIME-SPACE CONTINUIM in The Cutie Re-Mark. I’m pretty sure this proves the Tree’s omnipotence. As for omniscience, the Cutie Map is a clear example of this. The Cutie Map knows exactly what problem will happen, when it will happen, where it will happen, how it will happen, and who will be the best ponies suited for the job of solving it. Yes, I know that this is a TV show with writers, but within the actual world this show takes place in, this Cutie Map, and therefore the Tree of Harmony, is clearly omniscient. I’m not sure if omnipresence is important here. If anything, the fact that the Tree is aware of everything that happens in the world through the Cutie Map is a kind of omnipresence. The way that the Map existed in alternate timelines can be considered omnipresence too. Now, I know you’re all thinking about the part I skipped earlier. You all think that those Plunderseed Vines disprove my theory, because those thorny vines nearly killed the Tree. Fluttershy herself said the Tree was dying, after all. Sure, the Tree was brought back to life through the sacrifice of the Elements, and the Tree gave the Mane Six a gift through its resurrection, but still, it was almost killed. Well, to avoid getting into trouble or triggering anyone, I’ll be both brief and vague here. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a Canadian/American show. Christianity is the majority religion in these two nations. Now, tell me, who is the main figure of this religion and what is He well known for doing? I’d rather not get banned or anything, so I’m being intentionally ambiguous here, but I’m pretty sure you all know what I’m trying to say. Love and tolerate, please! So, what do you think? Is the Tree of Harmony the Divine Being of the world in which Equestria takes place? Is my reasoning sound, or did I make a mistake or overlook something? Please, leave your own comments and opinion, because I’m sure that this can be a great source of ideas and speculation for all Bronies. Also, here is a Fanfic written by someone who is also convinced that the Tree of Harmony is the Divine Being:
  16. I feel like there's too much going on here it's confusing. In case it is: -Celestia & Luna are arm in arm, facing opposite sides with hooves outward. They're behind everyone. -Cadence is lifting Flurry, they're behind Twilight. -And Twilight is.....I don't know, I just thought that pose would be not-boring. I guess majestically dashing to the left? (Small note: She's wearing the outfit shown on the IDW Readers Guide.)
  17. Since alicorns are the combination of the three races and have the strengths of all three. Strength, flight, and magic. I thought about it and I came up with a conclusion: What if alicorns have the attributes of of the three races but what if the combination weakened the individual power of each. Example 1 : Starlight Glimmer, a unicorn, is skilled enough to match Twilight and most likely Cadence as well, and as we saw in the second season premier Celestia couldn't defeat Chrysalis on her own. You could say that was due to the power of love that she absorbed from Shining Armor and you'd be right, but we don't know how powerful she is without that love, and as far as Celestia's actual magical strength goes, we have never seen her defeat an opponent, even with the comics which aren't canon to the show by the writing staff's reckoning, Celestia's victories have always been aided by others. I haven't read much of the books but if there is information to contradict me please direct me to them. Could it be possible that as powerful as Celestia is, would she be stronger magically if she was a pure unicorn? Is she weaker than the average unicorn wizard such as Star Swirl the Bearded? Is that why she doesn't go into battle herself unless absolutely necessary. Example 2: Twilight has had plenty of time to grow used to her wings, with the exception of the season 4 finale, is not able to fly exceptionally fast. Rainbow Dash repeatedly beats her in races but that is Rainbow Dash. As far as other pegasi go from what I've seen, and I re-watched the first five seasons just to check almost every other Pegasus is able to fly far faster and with greater skill than twilight, and Cadence's wings are even weaker than hers due to lack of use. And as far as Luna and Celestia go the only example I could find that showed actual skill was Celestia's battle with Nightmare Moon. And their aerial acrobatics weren't very impressive, kind of disappointing actually. Then you get to the actual feats of the pegasi, not just Rainbow Dash. Creating a tornado in Hurricane Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash's multiple sonic rainbooms and the incredible skill and talent that comes with the Wonderbolts and the Wonderbolts Reserve corps. Could this be a canonical confirmation that Alicorns aren't actually weaker fliers than pegasi? Given that alicorns wings are larger it would take more muscle for them to move, normally, with the fact that pegasi flight is more in part to magic than actual muscle, given what the season four finale gave us. With the larger wings it would take more strength to fly, magical or not, and the increased heaight and horn size increases the weight of the pony body. Wouldn't it make sense if alicorns were slower and less agile than pegasi? Example 3: The strength of earth ponies is an obvious part of their race. The strength of these ponies far exceeds that of the unicorns of the pegasi, as shown in Hearts and Hooves Day, the Mysterious Mare Do Well, and all instances where Applejack is apple bucking. Please check out Firebrands Taking Earth Ponies Too Seriously, for a better example than I can explain in this message. Anyway, all these feats of strength have proven that the earth ponies magic is very impressive. Now we've been told that alicorns have earth pony strength but we've never been shown an example of this. (If there was an episode I missed where there was an example please tell me) We saw in Over a Barrel how the earth ponies had built the town in a year and during the confrontation between Sherrif Silver Star and Chief Thunderhooves lock horns, figuratively. If you recall the buffalo chief pushes against Silver Star but at the same time he is able to push back with equal or greater force, despite being far smaller than Chief Thunderhooves. Do you think that the combination of different powers within the alicorn race actually weaken each individual trait slightly or perhaps by quite a bit? Do you think it would be possible that alicorns are generally stronger as in being a sort of jack of all trades, but not be as skilled in each individual area? If not, please explain, i would love to hear your opinion. Thanks for reading! Love ya guys!
  18. What kind of episodes and story-lines do you prefer; the ones centred on the Alicorns and Unicorns with their magical powers and artifacts or the episodes where the narrative is more down-to-earth, perhaps even paralleling our own world. An example of the former would be "A Canterlot Wedding" in which Shining Armour is under a spell. One might think it's going to be a realistic story about Twilight's jealousy over her brother's marriage to Cadence, who she imagines as two-faced and mean. But the conflict in this story arc comes from magical spells and the power of the changelings to impersonate ponies. An example of a more down-to-earth-pony episode would be "Look Before You Sleep". The conflict arises as two very different friends are forced to spend time together when they really need some space from each other (a problem us humans can relate to!). The solution also doesn't involve magic, Rarity and Applejack communicate and compromise to fix their relationship. I think I prefer the episodes which deal with real-world problems, as I think it gives the show a mature attitude and respects the kids enough to understand metaphors for stuff that happens here on earth. What say you?
  19. Anyways, do you want the movie to focus on explaining pre-existing unexplained lore in the show's universe (like alicorns, the tree of harmony or starswirl the bearded, discord's backstory, or something else) or would you rather the plot focus on completely new never before mentioned elements? Like how the sirens in RR were never mentioned before in show would be an example of having a movie focus on new lore, while the tree of harmony in Princess twilight sparkle would be an example of exploring pre-existing canon. Which would you prefer for the movie?
  20. So a line in the 1st / 2nd episode of season 6, when luna and celestia see the alicorn baby "this has never happened before, this is the first time an alicorn has been born in equestria" IN EQUESTRIA So this can go 1 of 2 ways: 1) ALL ponies up until this point have had to EARN their wings, except for this baby OR 2) Princess luna and princess celestia were alicorns born before equestria was established as a "place" #2 seems more plausible for this reference, as we still aren't quite sure where celestia and luna even CAME from - if the realm was named something else before this, and if there was a race of alicorns they were born from,... but that line does leave things open for interpretation.. it would make more SENSE that sin ce there are so few alicorns, that all alicorns have to EARN their wings. I am also noticing they are staying with their "all alicorns have to be female because men just aren't good enough" routine for little girls.. so what do YOU think? Is this baby an exception because her mother is an alicorn? Or is she simply the first "alicorn" born into equestria? Also I guess twilight and even starlight glimmer aren't the head honchos for magic anymore - twilight gets double shamed in the magic dept hahaha..
  21. We know that both Princess Celestia & Princess Luna are over 1000 years old, but how old do the average alicorns, unicorns & ponies live to be?
  22. I've been trying to find out if alicorns can be born alicorns or if they can only be made so if anyone could answer my question it will really help out for one of my OC's that i'm making.
  23. Well, these appearend in Aliexpress, and we can be sure these are going to be a future line up of ponies in the future. Does that mean we'll see the rest of the Mane6 as alicorns ? Not necessarily. Sure, we got Canterlot Wedding set, we got Canterlot Wedding episode, we got princess Twi toy, we GOT princess Twi, we got Rainbow Power toyline, we got Rainbow Power, we got Cutie Mark Magic toyline, we got Cutie Mark Magic epi.... Oh, wait, guess that's an exception . Only time will tell if we'll get the Mane6 as alicorns
  24. It has been questioned what alicorn magic truly is but the newest episode "No second prances" gave a possible yet Vague answer. In the episode Trixie briefly mentions that she used a soul sucking evil amulet which is most likely the same amulet that is known as the alicorn amulet. I'm not sure if this line is in any way important but it may help with a lead on this whole mystery on alicorns. Sadly, I can't think of any evidence besides this and that one scene in the season 4 opener episode but maybe someone can. Post what you think. Do you think alicorn magic could have some connection with dark magic or is that just crazy? If you have any evidence that's with or against this please do tell me.
  25. So, now that we just LOVE discussing about alicorns and some of us sharing what little is officially known about them. But I've noticed something that few, if any ever asked: Did Celestia ascended other ponies into alicorns before Cadance and Twilight? If you think about that, it's possible that in her 1000 years ruling, Celestia might have ascended other ponies into alicornhood. What you think?
