  1. Sometimes MLP Forums is good on staff. It does happen. Just not often. Right now? Right now is not one of those times. Currently we're short staff in three sections. Canterlot Roleplay FIM So, what does this mean for prospective applicants? First, let's break down the jerb: A sectional moderator is a volunteer position in which members of the community get a bit more responsibility here on MLP Forums. They proactively report problem threads and posts, move, merge, and retitle, and make sure that ever'thang generally stays within the rules global rules on the forums. They work with global moderators, team leads, and administrators to keep all of the things in tip top shape. Global moderators, team leads, and administrators? What do they do? Most of us (not all, but most) started out as a sectional moderator. From there we were promoted to global. Globals usually also have an area of focus, but also add input on all reports that sectionals send, and carry out the decisions of those reports. Team leads are global moderators that help focus the section, assign tasks if need be, and often will train new and incoming staff. Administrators are broken down by tech (unbreaking the broken) and community. Community admins organize all of the things aforementioned, respond to tickets, work on permissions, do announcements, etc. I've had warnings in the past. Will that affect my chances to become a moderator? It can. We look at many factors when deciding if a member is accepted as a moderator or not. Among them being of course the application, past warning history, age (more on that below), how long you've been a member, and maturity. Age? What?! Whelp, you have to be at least 13 to join the forums, right? We also generally try to make sure that applicants are within a few years of 18, since moderators can often see some pretty disturbing content. While the sectional position isn't necessarily a stepping stone to that purple badge, many sectionals are promoted to global moderator. That said, we don't want a sectional sitting at that level for ages just because we want a full moderator to be 18. Therefore we generally look for applicants to be at least 16. Everything you just said sounds kind of awful. Why would I actually want to be a sectional after everything you've said? To be honest, I've met some of my closest friends through MLP Forums. While they may no longer be moderators, I'm still incredibly close with them. And those who are still, I have an incredible respect for. We have some good times, a lot of laughs, and are generally pretty close. The camaraderie is truly the best part about being a mod. Fine. I'm interested. What's next? Here's the app. Yay! Great! That's done. Now what? Wait. Seriously. We get a lot of apps. We'll do our best to reply to everyone, but some people may slip through the cracks. We will also turn a lot of people down. If you are turned down, don't take it personally. We encourage you if you're still interested to wait a few months and apply again. If you wish to know why you were turned down, feel free to contact an admin and ask. We're friendly enough. We'll stop taking applications when we feel we've gotten enough people, so uh... Apply on. Interested in a section that's not listed as being open? That's cool too, but don't get your hopes up too much, as we super need people for RP, FIM and Canterlot.

  5. Good evening everypony! I'm here tonight with news about a couple of openings on the PVL staff. Right now there's a couple of positions, namely in PVL's public relations, that they really need filled. 1. PVL Press Coordinator - the press coordinator will coordinate with PVL's director, Dusk, on putting out press releases to various organizations. Must have some skill at writing press releases and business communications. 2. PVL Social Media Manager - the social media manager will manage PVL's social media accounts and also scout for new content or contacts. Must be skilled at one or more social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. and also at writing business communications. Both of these positions will need to work closely with Dusk, and as such, any applicants must be serious about taking on these responsibilities for whatever positions they apply for. Speaking from personal experience, PR really is not that difficult once you get the hang of it; it can be time consuming, but it's also very fun to do and quite easy if you're able to be outgoing and friendly in a professional manner to those you interact with. If you would like to apply for one of these positions, please fill out the following form: PVL Public Relations Staff Application Also, feel free to contact PVL's director, Dusk, on the following profile via PM if you have any specific questions or would like to open up a channel of communication with him: LadyMercury (Dusk) This is a great opportunity to become a part of PVL and Poniverse, so we hope to see many applicants! Feel free to leave questions or concerns in this thread as well everypony, and have a nice evening!
  6. The google chrome web store would be a great place to put a sort of notification app for the My Little Pony forums
  7. Community Workshop Applications OPEN Hey you! Have you got an idea for an event at BUCK 2016? We’re looking for people who do arts, crafts, media, music, or other socially creative stuff and want to share their skills, methods, and work with the community. At BUCK we hate Q&A panels, while a few questions and answers from the audience are great, most of the general questions on subjects we know have been covered many different times at many events. So last year we asked our guests not to simply step on stage and wait for a good question, but to give the audience something to ask questions about. We had Dave Polsky speak about his writing method and inspirations, and he gave a stirring speech about ideas the audience had never considered before. We had G. M. Berrow do the same, and people were thrilled to hear entirely different ideas, and they could compare on contrast different methods to see what worked for them. We also had Heather Breckel demonstrate her digital colouring methods live on stage, showing people how to get started, what tools were needed, and how basic line-art is brought to life through flats, shading, and lighting. So step up and tell us what you have to show to the community! Chosen applicants will be given a designated time slot in one of our workshop rooms to use as they see fit! Send in your ideas using This Google Form, and we’ll be sorting through them as fast as possible!
  8. Is there an app? If not will there ever be one? If not can i convince you to make it a thing?
  9. As the title says, do you have any suggestions for a brony (computer) application/program? Not ideas for making one, but existing brony programs and applications that I can download, like digital merchandise that have ponies. For me, I really don't have a lot of suggestions other than a soundboard (I won't download one, however) and maybe a browser extension.

  12. I'm putting this under gaming media even though this is pretty much an application rather than a game. So I've been interested in buying Art Academy for 3DS, which teaches you the skills of drawing step by step and then let's you draw and paint anything you like and share it. It's not, however, just as good as Photoshop I guess, but it does have every possible tool you could need. I guess the closest one this may remind you is about that SAI program. So my question is: Has anyone actually tried either the DS or 3DS version of Art Academy and is it any good? Here's a trailer for you to watch if you're not sure what this application is exactly:
